Asked in a group for a recommendation, Mr. Duct was one of them. Saw the excellent reviews, company had a good feel to it. I was not disappointed - was contacted within 10 minutes and they were able to send me a tech same day to do duct cleaning and minor cleaning/repair to my two HVAC systems. The tech spent about 4 hours in the house - and we are on a fairly high floor for him to bring his equipment. I am all around pleased with Mr. Duct, very responsive, and competent, and the price I ended up paying was substantially less than what I was initially quoted by another company. read more

Highly recommended! Mario and Danny were amazing. They were prompt, polite, professional, knowledgeable. Setting up the appointment was also simple. I requested a quote via Yelp and within 10 mins I had an appointment on the calendar! The entire process was great and I'm a forever customer now! read more

Reason why is the guys that came to clean our ducts left a huge mess on the side of our building. See picture, but is a fraction of all the shit out there that we had to clean up. And, it was no bargain having these guys come out. read more

Mr. Duct - Fraction of huge mess these dipshits made at my house. No bargain either. Check their work! - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

The Mr. Duct team, headed by Emanual (Manny), just left and I wanted to say how great they were. Polite, professional, on time, knowledgeable and explained the process as they went along, and cleaned up well during and after the process. I did a lot of research before choosing them based on online recommendations and what seemed like a reasonable price for our home size. There were no hidden fees or up-charging like I've heard others do. I would have given them a 5-star but I thought the dryer vent was included and they said it was not. Not a huge deal but it wasn't clear to me that is was an add-on. Small ding for an otherwise perfect experience. read more

I recently learned during a vent cleaning that my dryer vent is disconnected behind the dry walls. I called Mr. Duct, explained the situation to them, emailed back and forth with pictures, and was assured that this is something they could help me with. I should say that they were very responsive - that is a plus. They made me feel so confident that they could resolve my issue that I did not have a backup plan - a big mistake on my side for putting my eggs in a single basket. The technician shows up, he is wearing a mask and is very respectful - he inspects the problem and tells me that he needs to call his boss to see if this is something he can fix. He steps outside, and I am waiting for him to come back and inform me what our game plan is. After waiting for 45 minutes, I give a callback to learn that the tech bailed on me, and he was not going to do partial repairs so he just left despite our extensive discussion with pictures via email and their assurance that they could help! They did not have the decency to call me, try to find a solution to my problem, or even say goodbye - the guy just left! I would not have even known about it had I not called them to make sure the tech was fine! I had bad contractors, but I never witnessed someone just leaving without any notice - I am still shocked by this behavior. Even though they have a very responsive and nice customer service, I would not recommend anyone trust this business as they may bail on you too. read more

We initially reached out to Mr. Duct to clean our ducts & vents and repair some technical issues we were having with our Nest - they re-wired it for us. The first visit was fine. Two weeks later, we were still receiving some error messages on our Nest (although our furnace/heat was working and our house was 70 degrees when the technician arrived) so had them come out again to take a look since the wiring should have been fixed and we wanted to avoid major issues before the cold weather arrived. The technician came on a Friday morning and was in our home for about an hour going back and forth between the Nest and the furnace. He told us that our motor and module board were both broken and would need to be replaced (probably ~$1,500) but at that point he couldn't guarantee those things would fix the furnace and recommended getting a new furnace (between $4,500-$5,000). For reference, our furnace is 6 years. From the moment the technician left, our heat was not working at all anymore. We couldn't get it to kick on for even a minute, so something he did while at our home made our furnace stop working entirely. A little later, I received a call from the owner asking what we would like to do and we decided we didn't want anymore issues and that we would get a new furnace. I told him our heat was broken since the technician was "working" on our furnace and we needed someone to come back out to get us at least running until we could get a new furnace the following Monday. He said he would be in touch and I didn't hear from him again. I called again the next morning when our house was was at 58 degrees telling them that we have a one year old and needed heat asap. She claimed he had tried calling me, but I did not receive a single call from them. She said there was nothing they could do for us until the following week and I told them we would not be using them. We reached out to Lakeview Heating & Cooling who sent someone out to our home within the hour. He also looked at our furnace and said the motor was broken (he said the module board was fine). The owner offered to lend us space heaters over the weekend until they could get a new motor from the supplier first thing Monday morning. He also said that because our furnace was 6 years old, the motor should be under warranty. Sure enough, he did the little extra legwork and found that the motor was under warranty and would cost us nothing. They got the new motor Monday morning and was heating our house by the afternoon - all in it cost us $200 for labor. They saved us thousands of dollars and our furnace and Nest have worked seamlessly since - no error messages or lack of heat whatsoever. All this to say, if you want a company you can trust who is not just going to upsell you and try and get the most money out of you as possible, do not work with Mr. Duct. read more

The service worked well and I'm encountering less dust in my house. However, the technicians were not professional. I don't mind a little banter between coworkers (I've worked on crews myself and I know it helps the days pass!), but the guys Mr Duct sent were joking with each other in a way that gave me hesitation about their ability to get the job done well and quickly. Furthermore, the one technician was not wearing his mask properly, even when speaking to me face to face. That made me uncomfortable. I was unpleasantly surprised by the conduct of the technicians, especially given the level of service Mr Duct provided in other ways: calling me to let me know the guys were on their way, sending follow up surveys, etc read more

Zero stars. Mr. Duct is the worst, get someone else. These guys did not clean my ducts thoroughly. I paid alot of money. I called after to explain debris was left in my ducts. I took photos inside my ducts with my phone. They never responded. Fast forward a year, we had our furnace and some ductwork replaced. The hvac guys said the ducts and return vent look like they have never been cleaned EVER. I called Mr. Duct again to report this. They were unapologetic and denied responsibility, when I asked them to fix the job they refused. A month later they called me to tell me about a customer loyalty special they were running, and "would I like to hire them again". They had a chance to fix the problem, they did not fix the problem. They had a simple task and failed. This is a warning to anyone looking to get their ducts cleaned. Use anyone else but Mr. Duct read more

Terrible in the sense that i did not let them do the job. They do not tell you when you sign with them that they will dig several holes in your ducts to connect their equipment. They argue that this is the most efficient way to do it (For them) but I do not want my basement to look like I have 10+ holes in the visible ducts. It is a shame that they are not up front with this important information. Do not waste your time unless you are willing to let them dog holes in your ducts. read more

They did quote me the best prices around. However, they lied and told me they would do both the duct cleaning and dryer event. After asking about the dryer event, the office manager claimed that they are not allowed to do this because of their equipment could break something?? Techs didn't mention a thing? I requested some sort of credit/refund for skipping this as I will need to hire another vendor to complete. The office manager insisted that this was not charged. I showed her the text message offer which included "both services for $445". She still insisted that this was not part of the deal and all $445 went only to the duct cleaning. Very deceiving... read more

Updated Review: After posting the original review (below), someone did reach out to me with Mr. Duct and apologized for my experience. This was a genuine gesture, just one that I think should have been done originally and not after I posted a review. That being said, the team member and I worked on something that I thought was fair. He also explained how the service was meant to go and, if it had actually gone that way, I would have been very pleased. Original Post: We decided to hire Mr. Duct because they seemed to have excellent reviews online and with the BBB. They are definitely not the cheapest option in town. They were very diligent in phoning and emailing incessantly in order to book an appointment. They did arrive when they should, but left the house a mess! Vents were not put back in to place, furniture was tossed out of the way and left where they tossed them, the left debris outside of all of the vents (which I had to clean), and asked me to get them a dust pan and a broom for their clean up. (I did not mind this, but a) I asked them if they needed anything before the arrived and when the arrived, as I work from home and did not want to be disturbed more than necessary, b) why did they not USE the broom and dust pan I provided, c) why does Mr. Duct not supply vacuums? They did not show me any before an after pictures of vents (which I was later informed they should have) AND they did not need the HEPA filter vacuum that is on all of the Mr. Duct trucks to clean the debris from around the vents (as they are meant to). I was told they called me the day after service and, magically, I did not have a message. I did receive a follow up email and I wrote my complaints, I received no response. I finally received another call back (3 days after the original email with my complaints) and when I finally had a chance to call them back, the only thing they offered was to send a crew back out? Ummmm, you think we left our furniture strew about, our floors full of debris, and vents off for over a week?? I indicated it seemed crazy that they would not offer a small rebate on the absurdly priced service versus spending money to send a crew back out to fix something no family in their right mind would have left for even an extra couple of hours. He (Tom) became defensive indicating that is why he called and left a message the day after (still would have been too late, even if I HAD received a message) and I did respond in the email I DID receive and no one responded for days. Overall - very poor experience. Would not recommend. They focus on the customer service in an effort to get the appointment. NOT for you to have good experience. read more

I was very pleased with the dryer vent cleaning, done by the two techs, Omar and George, today. They were very professional and courteous and explained what additional I needed to complete the job. September 26, 2019 This is the third year in a row, Mr. Duct has serviced our Townhouse. Prior to being serviced, our house had a dusty and slightly damp odor That's the side effect of residing in downtown Chicago. : ( After a thorough cleaning of the ductwork, registers, and everything in between, our house smelled and felt great. Sergio from Mr. Duct arrived promptly and was very courteous and professional. Unfortunately, the issue with my dryer was not due to a clogged vent, but possibly, the ignition on the dryer as he didn't hear anything "spark up". He also told me he couldn't clean the vent itself as I live in a high-rise and because of liability issues, he would not be allowed to clean just my unit's hose. Shame, but he did not charge me for the callout, of which I appreciate as I will have to use that money to get the dryer repaired! Thanks for your honesty, Mr. Duct et. al. :-) read more

Every now and then I have to stop eating and drinkng and do big grown up things like get the air ducts in my beloved loft cleaned... Air duct cleaning is not for the faint of heart. First, it is not cheap. You will argue with a man who's been doing this for years about whether you actually need this. You will wonder whether you can get half the unit done for half the price. You might tell him you'll think about it and call back. Then you'll realize that you -- the proud "I don't have allergies" girl wants to stop sneezing, and wants her dogs to stop sneezing. And you'll call back, set aside the money and make the appointment. It was absolutely worth it. The workers, big noisy equipment and all, showed up on time and were incredibly professional and respectful of my house. They showed me what they were doing every step of the way. They grossed me out by showing me how horrendously dirty my air duct system was. They put up with my little dogs barking at them. And they did a great job. There were no surprises -- the price was exactly what I was quoted, with a discount for being a first-time user. Neither I nor the dogs have sneezed in the house since that day because of air quality issues. I highly recommend Mr. Duct. For once I felt like I wasn't cheated for a service like this and found it absolutely worth the money. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I was charged $79 for the repairman to confirm the fact that I had a bad gas valve that needed to be replaced. Instead of attempting to find me a new valve the ONLY goal of Mr. Duct was to sell me a new furnace when I told them I couldn't afford a new furnace at this time. I was therefore forced to enter the crawlspace myself find the valve's model number and find the replacement valve myself. So what exactly did I pay for? Doing my own valve assessment and finding an entirely separate company to complete the repair. Then to top it off after informing Mr. Duct what I had done myself to get my repair completed all they were concerned with was who I got to do the repair and how much it cost......totally INAPPROPRIATE! Use them if you want to pay money to someone, then have to do the dirty work yourself to ensure the job gets done. read more

Both techs were on time and professional! They cleaned all our vents, dryer vent and sanitized. Would recommend to my friends

They were thorough and didn't waste any time. My allergies are sooo much better! I'll be using them again for sure.

I had scheduled a air duct/vent cleaning and A/C unit tune-up with Mr. Duct. I had called them two different times of the day to get quotes from two different sales reps. The difference between the two prices were about $120. I went with the lower price and scheduled an appointment. This should have been a fore-warning... The air vent cleaning was good. However the service technician said I need more freon in the A/C unit. Ok. So I agreed to it. Then he finalized checking how efficient the cooling was inside the home. He said he could not tell the difference from the outside weather because it was so cool. ( This was done June 11 and the temperature was in the mid 60s outside). So he recommended a follow-up visit when the weather turns hotter outside. In summary...I spent about $530 to get the AC tuned up and the vents clear to get my home cooled more efficiently. I had noticed the same cooling as before I had called Mr. Duct. Nothing has really changed, except maybe a bit cleaner vents. I had called for the follow-up visit a month later after testing my home's AC during the July heat waves. Unfortunately I had spoken to the first salesperson that had an over-price quote for me when I had called them before. He said the follow-up visit was another $79 and that it could be refunded if the service techs found out that the AC unit needed more freon. SERIOUSLY? I had spent over $500 and had additional freon installed in the AC. I told him this and he quickly took back what he said..and it would be another $79 PERIOD. Wow....what a ridiculous company that is supposedly backed by the Better Business Bureau and has Service Star Awards.... They obviously do not care for you once they have cashed your check... I would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

The crew that came in literally broke my wooden floor. I have newly renovated wood floors placed up to the laundry room. The laundry room with stacked units has tile. The crew came in to check the vents for each unit. After their inspection, I looked to see what they did. There was a small wood floor board missing!!! The guy said it was like that before. Uh, I paid a ton of my hard earned money on that floor, and I would know if a plank just got up and walked away! Now there is a gap with the silver underpayment showing. He kept denying that he did anything. Accidents happen, but honesty and integrity are more highly regarded in my book than what these jerks did. Note to this business owner: treat your customers like you would your own mom. What you did in my house was deplorable. read more

Our dryer was barely working at all and we had done all the regular checks inside and figured it was time to call someone to help. Our dryer vent is on the roof, 5 stories up and the roof is angled, so I didn't exactly feel like going up there myself. Setting the appointment was easy and the guy showed up right on time. He was very nice and professional. Quickly got the problem resolved and showed me the buildup that was causing it. Ever since our dryer has been working perfectly! The only weird thing was that I got several automated emails indicating that my "order is ready for pickup" but I didn't have to pick up anything... I just ignored these and all was good, but they should probably get rid of those emails it was kind of confusing. I didn't do a ton of price comparisons but they were priced the same as the one other place I looked. I would recommend them. read more

I was initially a bit hesitant about hiring Mr. Duct based upon the yelp reviews... 3 1/2 stars is fairly low in my opinion. However, I did hire them... and I was extremely satisfied with the service provided and would highly recommend them for anyone looking to have their furnace and ductwork cleaned. The whole process was flawless... When I called on the phone for ", the woman who answered provide me a detailed overview of the process, a detailed price quote, and a reasonable timeframe window of when the workers would arrive at my home. A team of two workers came, and they were extremely knowledgeable and polite... They were careful to not drag their ladders across our hardwood floors and not to bump their equipment into our white walls. The whole process took less than two hours, and there were before and after photos taken to show just how much cleaner the ducts were after the process. The workers also replaced my furnace air filters upon my request. Additionally, they noticed that the filter on our humidifier had not been changed and was collecting, I believe, calcium deposits... They recommended a replacement in order to prevent damage, and not to use the humidifier until the new filter was in place. Overall, I was extremely satisfied. Although I received quotes for a lower price, I am definitely comfortable with the service I received for the price paid. For what it's worth, Mr. Duct is also NADCA certified, and the lower-priced service providers were not. I should also say that I initially planned to use Stanley Steamers... apparently they can clean ductwork and not just carpets. I had a team come out to give me a quote, but when the actual team came out to do the cleaning, their equipment would not work on my furnace. Needless to say, I was quite annoyed... But that's what I get for trying to hire a carpet cleaning business to clean my HVAC ducts. read more

I'd been meaning to get my dryer vent cleaned for the past couple of months, as it had not been touched since I moved into my condo four years ago. I did not want to risk a fire hazard due to lint buildup in the filter (apparently more common than one would think). This chore had fallen off of my to-do list but I wanted to make sure that it was addressed before winter sets in as I do an appreciable amount of laundry, including the lint-filled variety (towels, rugs, etc.). I was pleased with the professional service throughout my entire experience with Mr. Duct, from the booking, to the service itself and even an email follow up from the business to see how everything went. My condo has rules governing the use of third-party services; Mr. Duct went above and beyond in providing my building management with the required proof of insurance so that I did not have to scramble. Both of the workers took off their shoes and arrived within the specified time window. The service itself was speedy and the two guys were careful with their equipment and my premises. They even found a paper diagram- wadded up inside the ductwork- that they called my attention to. I definitely wouldn't have come across this in the normal course of events. For the thoroughness and attention to detail, I felt the price was fair, not to mention I got a $20 first-time discount. Thank you Mr. Duct for taking the hassle out of this chore and allowing me to get on with my life. read more

Based on reviews here, we had Mr. Duct's team come out for our annual A/C inspection. Their technician's review seemed a bit too cursory - they spent more time standing around than actually "inspecting" our system (a testament to which is the fact that, when examining our air return, they recommended that we get a filter for it - fun fact: there was already one in there, and had they taken the grate off to observe they would have spotted it!). Their analysis was that our system was in overall great shape, so we were pleased (yay, only the $119 inspection fee - what a deal!) . . . until one month later, when our A/C died. Diagnosis (by) another team who actually "inspects": condenser was dead. Reason? Excessive dirt and build up that caused it to overheat. Price tag? No comment (it still smarts). So, I could rant about Mr. Duct's technicians incompetence, or the fact that, had they noted this build up at the beginning of summer when they looked at the unit they could have saved us the thousands-of-dollars bill to replace our unit later in the season, but I will leave at this: don't waste your time or your money; don't work with Mr. Duct. read more

I have never had a better service provider in my home. The team that came to clean the ducts in my home were efficient, personable, organized and clean. I had expected it to take hours and hours as a friend had their ducts cleaned by another company and said it was a messy and long process. That was not the case with Mr Duct! It was about an hour and a half process. They gave me photos of before and after and when they left my house was as clean as it had been prior to them arriving (of course the inside of the ducts were cleaner) - no mess and an amazing price on top of it! I strongly recommend them as they were highly professional and very knowledgeable. read more

They have now done 4 of the 6 condos in our building this fall and everyone has had a great experience. We will certainly use this service again in the future! read more

I was a bit wary to use this company as the Yelp reviews are less than stellar, though Mr. Duct is NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association) certified - and our home inspector recommended that we only work with businesses that have this certification. I gave them a call on Wednesday and they had availability immediately. Very professional customer service and they were patient with my many ignorant questions. They were honest and upfront about pricing, which I really value. I can't stand it when companies refuse to provide quotes - it makes me feel like I'm being ripped off. We had Ivan, Emmanuel, and Dave come out to do the service. They were a fantastic team. Professional and thorough. Services I used: - Furnace cleaning: We had recently purchased a home and the previous owners had not cleaned the furnace in 10 years. Dave did a good job servicing the machine and explaining how I can keep the filters clean. The cost for service was $119, which was a special price. Normally, it is $130. - Air Duct cleaning: Ivan and Emmanuel performed this service and it was totally worth the $395. They were very detail-oriented and had a camera to show before-and-after views of the ducts. - Dryer Vent cleaning: Ivan and Emmanuel performed this service also and went above and beyond to make sure that the vent was properly functioning. They went outside to ensure that the dryer vents were opening. I would definitely hire them again for maintenance on the air ducts, dryer vents, and furnace in my condo. I'm so glad I did it because I now have the peace of mind that the air flow in my condo is clean and fresh. read more
