I was leery about getting my home ducts cleaned after all the awful on-line horror stories, but they really needed cleaning. Doubt it's ever been done. Mr. Duct's service was awesome. My Technician Juan explained everything and seemed to do a fantastic and thorough job from what I could tell. He was also very friendly, professional and experienced, as was the staff on the phone. Mr. Duct does a nice job cleaning out HVAC ducts. They are up front, full-informative, and courteous. Their follow-up on customer service issues leaves a bit to be desired, however. Coming highly recommended from my HVAC service, I went with Mr. Duct for a full duct cleaning. They were easy to schedule with, provided great info up front, and were professional throughout the appointment. They even showed before and after pictures in select ducts! I did have one issue after the appointment that I still have not really had any follow-up on... I emailed after the visit to share that the vacuum, where it was placed, had killed a spot in our lawn (see pictures). I contacted them a few days after the visit and didn't hear any kind of response. Then, 15 days later, I received a voicemail regarding my issue. I've returned the call a couple days later but was told the rep that contacted me was gone for the day. That was nearly a week ago. In all, I'd recommend Mr. Duct but would caution you as to my experience with customer service. Perhaps withhold payment until you can confirm that everything was satisfactory (a reasonable ask as the credit card machine was not working during my visit and they had to call me later when it was). read more

Like so many duct cleaning companies, this one is deceptive and a waste of money at best. The ONLY effective duct cleaning follows NADCA guidelines. Call NADCA and they they will confirm what I describe below. 1. Any duct cleaning company with NADCA certification should only offer cleanings in compliance with NADCA guidelines because it's the only cleaning that effectively cleans ducts. This company is NADCA certified (all their technicians however are NOT- see below) yet they offer a "NADCA cleaning" and a cheaper "premier cleaning." This is a violation of NADCA rules, there is no EFFECTIVE cleaning that does not comply with NADCA. 2. When I politely insisted they only send a NADCA certified technician to perform my cleaning they told me it's not necessary because the company as a whole is certified. This is not true and individuals techs can and should be certified. The truth is they probably don't want to expend money to certify their technicians. Tom was rude and dismissive when I politely offered to wait until a certified tech is available. If you look hard, you can find companies that will send at least one NADCA certified technician to perform your cleaning. To preempt any nonsense response from the company- know that your conversation was recorded and I'm sharing it with NADCA. read more

We are very satisfied with the service from Mr. Duct. I filled out a contact form on their website and got a call within minutes. I was able to schedule an appointment for the following weekend. This was our first time using a service of this type and didn't know what to expect. The techs, Ricky and Ryan were very professional and friendly. They showed up on time, explained what they were going to do and how they were going to do it. They worked in a timely manner (less than two hours). They answered all my questions and they took note that we're expecting a baby and congratulated us on when they found out and once again when they left. They offered to wear shoe covers but I told them there was no need as it was dry outside. I am very happy to report that Joe came to my home, viewed the vents and completed the necessary repairs to put my house in the original condition prior to the duct cleaning. Note - The quote I received has the address on Belle Plaine listed on it. However, the employee stated he was based out of the Lisle location which is why I'm writing this review for the franchise located in Lisle. My condo association hired Mr. Duct to clean some of our dryer vents. One of the owners found them via a Google search after Stanley Steamer said they wouldn't service anything beyond the first floor. I didn't glance at the reviews for Mr. Duct and had never heard of them before the appointment was made so I wasn't sure what to expect. Anyway, the gentleman cleaned three dryer vents in the building. Malik was one of the guys who came out. (Can't recall his colleague's name) He was affable and friendly, but a bit unprepared when it came to job preparation. I needed a bird cage to cover my dryer vent, but my neighbor neglected to mention it when the appointment was made. Malik said he had been late to work that morning so he forgot to stock on bird cages. He said he sold his last one and didn't have any. He also couldn't provide me with a receipt because he ran out of them and didn't get any of them either before starting his shift. I get being late... it happens to us all. I'm not mad about that, but you've got to be about your business. Excuses are unacceptable. The franchise owner or corporate company should be upset about these kinds of things because this is the kind of stuff that customers remember. I would be hesitant to use Mr. Duct again because of their employees lack of preparation. I definitely couldn't recommend them to family or friends either. Malik said someone at the office would email a payment receipt, but I don't know if it was actually sent because I didn't ask the owner who made the appointment. (He read my card number to an employee in the office over the phone) I do know that they charged the agreed upon amount so that's why I'm not so concerned about the receipt. Anyway, I asked Malik's colleague if they could take photos of anything they find. He told me yes that could "definitely" happen. He said this when he was inside my condo as he was the one who was going to turn on the blower. However, when I went outside a short time later Malik said he couldn't take photos and that there would be nothing to see since I live on the third floor. He said everything would just blow away before it reached the ground. I've never had a dryer vent cleaned so I don't know if this information is correct or not. I did take note of the different responses from the two employees though. I honestly don't know if the guys did much of anything when it came to my dryer vent because I didn't stay outside to watch them. I could see Malik on the ladder though from the multiple cameras on the side of the building. I know my neighbors on the second floor needed their vents cleaned though because their bird cages were full of lint and debris. We received a quote of $220 for the second floor units and $265 for the one third floor unit. However, I was asked to pay $5 more than the quote I received because Malik said the prices had increased. I didn't argue about it since it was only $5, but that was yet another strike against Mr. Duct. You can't change the quoted price (in writing) at the time of payment AFTER the service is rendered. At any rate, I ended up paying less than the quoted price after all. I didn't realize this until several days later when I looked at my credit card statement. Lastly, the employees didn't even bother to clean up the lint after they'd cleaned the vents!!! They'd quoted us $705 to clean three vents and couldn't be bothered to ensure that the property was had been left in the way that they found it. Again, this goes back to doing good business... I saw that they'd left a mess before they even had collected the last payment, but I didn't say anything. I asked the last gentleman if they were done and he hesitated. He seemed to be looking towards the area where the dryer vents were located. I wondered if he was debating about whether or not they should clean up behind themselves. Either way he ultimately said no and they left shortly thereafter. I ended walking the perimeter of the property picking up lint. It didn't take long and didn't harm me, but the point is that they should have done it as a matter of practice. Needless to say I'll definitely be steering my condo association and everyone I know towards a different service provider whenever they're looking to have their dryer vents cleaned. read more

I had Mr Duct scheduled for an AC clean. Coincidentally I had a gas leak the day before my scheduled service! I had Four Seasons come out to provide an estimate to replace the small area of piping Nicor said was leaking. Four Seasons provided me a quote of $3,000 and $6,000. I declined... When Mr Duct came the next day to complete my AC Clean, the technician Sergio took a look at the pipes that needed to be replaced per Nicor. Sergio was able to resolve the issue at the same time of my AC Service for a fraction of the cost Four Seasons tried to charge me! I was able to get my gas turned on by nicor right as Sergio was wrapping up. He even stayed to make sure nicor gave the ok! Ulises and Alex came out today and they were awesome! Called ahead and showed up on time. Explained the work and the process and completed everything efficiently. Ulises took the time to show me our furnace has a rod and clip that help to hold your furnace filter in place which helps to keep it from being overworked. He also correctly taped our microwave vent which had been secured by duct tape from the previous home owner for no charge simply because he said he likes to help people. Extremely friendly and professional all while working safely and clean. Will be calling them back for furnace and AC estimates when weather gets better.
