The employee tried to resolve the issue, but the owner did not care. We asked for insurance and he would not give it. We contacted the BBB to help with the issue and Ugly Ductling did not respond to them. In order for the place to be in living condition again we had to hire a professional cleaning service. That cost an additional 5k. This company does not care about customers at all. It's a quick in and out job to them. I highly recommend never using them.

I was quoted 69.00 from Paulette through a text (see below screen shot). They told my husband 80.00, he wrote a check to them for 80.00. My husband had them fill in the payee information which is (see below copy of the check). We were not happy with our experience at all. I put a stop payment on the check, as this seemed like a scam as they didn't do anywhere near a complete job of cleaning only the dryer vent. When I read the reviews and the company profile, I thought it was a great, respectful, mom and pop company that would do a wonderful job and so we gave Duct Masters a try. They did not do as Paulette indicated that they would do, an inspection of the scope of work and then we could decide at no cost if we wanted them to continue to do the work. They were rude, not prepared and did not clean the dryer vent as it should've been done, only about 15% was cleaned. They also did not clean up after themselves before they left.

I called Duct Masters late in the afternoon on Friday and had the luxury of speaking to the owner, Roger who is an absolute gem. Since moving into a new house and undergoing endless renovations we had to hold off on cleaning the ducts and now that our son is coming any moment now we had to get the ducts cleaned before we can bring him home. I had never called for such a service before, and had no idea what to expect but after calling and hearing about how passionate he was about his business, and how him and his son tackle all their jobs together it's more of an honor for us to hire them. Today we had Jeremiah and Dylan (another father son duo that has been working for Roger & Chad for the past few years). They came in and walked space and got right to work. They were so mindful and clean about everything they did. They tackled each room and were in and out without a trace. We were able to pay with a card at the end, they also accept checks! The price we were quoted was what we were charged and they made the process so seamless. It was great to see our neighbors want to work with them too! Nothing like supporting local family owned businesses and get quality work for the value. A huge shout of to Roger for explaining all of their processes to help me understand what was being done and making me feel more than comfortable that the job will get done before our son arrives.

Being a home owner, there are many projects that need to be taken care of yet I can't execute them…read morealone on many of them. After a few weeks of cold and snowy days in late January and February, I felt the furnace and the ducts might need a major TLC. I contacted "Chicagoland Air Duct" via Yelp messaging where one can request a quote. Their office responded to me in a fairly timely manner and detailed the pricing and work that will performed. That alone was a determining factor and I decided to do business with them. Other companies either charged a bit high in my opinion or didn't delineate much of anything at all in their communications. Scheduling was easy. I did it all through Yelp messaging. We were able to do in the same day, but I opted for a Sunday service because my partner and I would both be home. E-mail and text confirmations were sent right after booking with an approximate time frame that the technician(s) will arrive. The lead technician for my project was also assigned with their first and last names. Everything appeared to be very legit and professional! Jerry, the lead technician and Anthony, the assistant, arrived in the beginning of the time frame. Jerry called me and announced his estimated time of arrival. I thought it was very nice because both my partner and I were having our morning naps (lol)! The house has two (2) furnaces. However, I just needed the one that serviced basement and first floor to be cleaned for today's purposes. They were efficient and knew exactly what they were doing. Jerry suggested a furnace cleaning upon inspection for an additional charge ($99). I knew our furnace was quite dirty since no major maintenance was done in the past. My partner and I agreed with the add-on and then Jerry went right into work. By the way, they were also good listeners. We have two (2) indoor cats and I had an unpleasant experience with one of them went outside when someone was performing a home improvement project in the past. We spoke to them about the cats being inside one of the rooms that had a vent. They were ok with touching the basement vents after the first floor ones were completed. They accept cash, checks, and debit/credit cards. Jerry also recommended some follow-up maintenance on our furnace. I'm planning on using "Chicagoland Air Duct" again for the top floor vent cleaning and furnace inspection. I had a positive experience with the company. Their prices were fair; workers were professional; communications were prompt and clear.

Further update- we just learned that we have carbon monoxide circulating from our furnace. The…read moretechnician who ran positive tests for carbon monoxide in multiple ducts throughout the house pointed to a faulty heat exchanger and/or poor installation. He noted that the heat exchanger was set to combusting gas. As I wrote in my last updated review, we became aware of issues with the installation last season when I noticed water pooling on top of our furnace. Another HVAC technician diagnosed the pipes venting the furnace were not sealed. This allowed condensation to escape at multiple joints in the pipe that seeped down and pooled on top of the furnace. When the technician removed the front of the furnace, we found a layer of rust and build up on the bottom interior of the furnace. He said that we are lucky that this didn't come in contact with a nearby circuit panel, but that we should take care of it ASAP. Chicagoland Air Duct reiterated that it was outside their warranty, and further added that they no longer do furnace installation. After speaking with a Goodman Rep about a possibly faulty heat exchanger I was told that the part definitely is covered by the warranty, but that the labor is not. Another HVAC company quoted around $2000 for that labor. I am about to contact Chicagoland Air Duct and ask them to please do the right thing and address this problem. Wish me luck.

What should have been a simple service appointment turned into weeks of frustration and a complete failure of professionalism. We requested a quote online, paid a deposit, and scheduled an appointment for a Sunday afternoon (2-5 pm). We never received a confirmation email, but assumed the booking went through. When we couldn't reach anyone by phone to confirm, we let it go. On Sunday morning at 10 am -- hours before our appointment -- we got a call telling us they don't have technicians working on Sundays. Nobody could explain how we were able to book a Sunday appointment through their own online system, or what we were supposed to do next. I called Monday and spoke with a manager who admitted this was a known issue with their scheduling system -- one they were "working to fix." I was offered a discount and rescheduled for the following Friday, 8 am-12 pm. Okay, frustrating, but I gave them another chance. Thursday evening, less than 24 hours before that appointment, we received a voicemail saying our Friday appointment was also being cancelled because of "another service." No explanation, no apology, no alternative offered. I called back furious. I made clear I wanted someone to show up for the appointment we had. The person I spoke to went to check with a manager -- who couldn't even be bothered to call me directly. When they called back, the answer was simply: reschedule for next week. No compensation. No acknowledgment of the repeated failures. Nothing. The only thing Air Flows Chicago did quickly and without issue was refund my deposit when I demanded it. One additional note: their online booking system never made clear which location -- Air Flows Chicago or Air Flows Chicago Belmont -- was handling our appointment. We still don't know. That lack of transparency is itself a problem, and it's why I'm posting this on both listings. Two cancellations. A known broken booking system they hadn't fixed. A manager who wouldn't get on the phone. And zero effort to make it right. Save yourself the headache and book someone else.

You should also shop around because some places offer bonus services that you may or may not need, or may even be hazardous to the occupants of the home, like sealants or chemicals. Check the EPA page on "Should You Have the Air Ducts in Your Home Cleaned?" for a thorough treatment of the topic, though note that it's much less enthusiastic about duct cleaning than people's subjective experiences, especially people with allergies or sensitivities, or if you've just done a remodel. I'd refer to "Is it worth it to get your air ducts cleaned?" on r/homeowners and "Is air duct cleaning a scam?" on r/hvacadvice. With that out of the way, Miguel cleaned our ducts quite thoroughly. He inserted the vacuum to the air handling unit. This would provide the negative pressure to ensure most of the dust and debris would go to the vacuum. Then he use a air compressor to knock loose the dust at each register and as far into the ventilation as he could push the nozzle. My registers unfortunately went up towards the attic, so dust was guaranteed to get knocked loose into the room, so we had to vacuum. This would have gone smoother if Mr. Duct had sent a partner with Miguel. Miguel was also very helpful in airdropping the photos of the ducts to my phone, which was important because we were trying to identify what might be triggering allergic reactions. For roughly $300, it was very reasonable. I would recommend Mr. Duct to those who need duct cleaning services.

In my 51 years, I have never written a review, either positive or negative, but I feel compelled to warn others about the poor service and questionable behavior of this company's employees. Four years ago, my HOA required a dryer vent cleaning, and they recommended Mr. Duct, so I went with them. The technicians seemed friendly enough, but at the end of the appointment, they casually informed me that they had somehow disconnected all of my dryer vents inside the wall and ceiling. They even said I looked "handy" which was a benefit because I would need to open up the drywall to reconnect them. Fortunately, I was able to make the repairs myself, but it took the entire weekend. When I tried to contact their office, I was sent to voicemail and never received a call back. The following year, my neighbor hired Mr. Duct to clean his vents. When I returned home, I found my dryer vent termination broken and lying on my driveway. After investigating, I learned that the technicians had gone to the wrong address and attempted to clean my vent from the outside, cracking the termination beyond repair. Fixing this mistake required another weekend of work, during which I had to remove soffit to reinstall the vent. Once again, I left a message with their office and received no response. Fortunately, I haven't had to deal with them since, as their reputation has spread throughout the neighborhood. However, it seems their disregard for others now extends beyond just their work. Just yesterday, while merging onto the highway, one of their employees in a company vehicle acted aggressively, attempting to swerve into my lane and blocking my ability to merge. He sped up and slowed down to match my speed, eventually swerving into my lane again, giving me an obscene gesture, and forcing me onto the shoulder, nearly causing an accident. As someone in the construction industry and a fleet manager, I find this behavior in a company vehicle utterly unacceptable and believe this employee should be immediately dismissed. Luckily, we both ended up exiting at the same ramp and I was able to photograph the vehicle. Cleaning ducts isn't a complex task, and there are many other companies out there that can do the job professionally. I would strongly advise others to seek alternatives. read more

This company was just phenomenal. I contacted through email for information and received a prompt follow-up. Once I answered a few questions, I was given a very thorough quote with accompanying literature explaining everything. That, first off, told me that this was a reputable company. Plus, the quote was quite a bit lower than other companies I had researched. On the day of the appointment, 9/26/14, my appointment was scheduled between 3 and 5pm. I received a call from a very nice lady in the office asking if there was any was the technicians could come earlier since jobs were moving along. Are you kidding? Be done even earlier on my day off? YES!! Score! David and Ernesto arrived promptly at 1:30. They were super nice and respectful of everything in my home from the get-go. They explained everything they were doing and asked multiple times if I had questions about anything. They showed me pictures of before and after. They put up with me being in their way. They were even chatty! I always love a good conversation and they certainly put up with me. Niceness aside, what they found in my ducts was proof enough that having this service was the right thing to do. The piles of debris, spiders and even construction concrete was astounding, and they removed it all. They even wiped down all the vents before replacing them, and vacuumed the floors. When my husband arrived just as they finished up, they even recapped the job for him and asked him if he had any questions. I settled up with them for the exact same price they had quoted me, and promptly received a receipt for my check via email. I was so beyond pleased, that I couldn't stop thanking them, and the minute they were out the door, I turned to my husband and said, "they are SO getting a good review" ... and I almost never write reviews for anything! I am beyond happy with the service! I found Mr. Duct through reviews by my neighbors on NextDoor.com. They said your service was great and you provided flat pricing with no "surprises." I was overjoyed to find that was true. Taylor took my initial call and provided pricing and scheduling options in minutes along with coupons and discounts. It was so easy! Tom called me the day of my appointment to let me know the technicians would be arriving shortly which was very appreciated. Omar G. and Corey were the technicians who completed the job and they were incredible! I was scheduled for a dryer vent cleaning and vent hose replacement. 5 Stars - Sergio is a Pro (and a Chipmunk Hero!) Sergio from Mr. Duct Cleaning did an absolutely phenomenal job at our home. From start to finish, he was courteous, professional, and extremely thorough. He took his time to explain the process, made sure everything was spotless, and even showed us before-and-after photos of the vent buildup -- it was clear he takes pride in doing quality work. But what truly stood out was his attitude and calmness under pressure -- and I mean real pressure. While airing out the basement, a chipmunk unexpectedly sprinted inside. It could've turned into chaos, but Sergio jumped into action (literally), chasing the little guy all through the house. "5 Stars Plus", for Mr. Duct. Our corporation was in need of getting all the air ducts cleaned out and I am pleased to say that I give them a strong 2 thumbs up. Upon their very prompt arrival, Mark, (great guy), came for a short time to introduce the company set up equipment with their technician Andrew who then took over at that point. Andrew was very professional, extremely respectful, honest, kind and showed outstanding ability to maneuver around a busy office without any disruption to the work going on around him. Now, I'm leaving a review about the continued communication from them. On the date of the disrespectful conversation with their finance representative, I advised them to NOT contact me going forward. Here we are, less than 2 weeks later... not only are they still contacting me, but now they've asked me several times to leave them a positive review. Now, I feel disrespected AND harassed. I called to have my HVAC air ducts cleaned out. Got an estimate right away over the phone, and that's the price I ended up paying. They showed up right on time, they took their shoes off every time they entered the house, both guys were very courteous and professional. They worked quickly and cleaned up any extra dust from the service. They even took the time to give me a quick rundown of how HVAC systems work, (I'm new to home ownership). It was more expensive than the cheap-o coupons you get in the mail, but I really feel like they did a more thorough job of cleaning everything. I normally don't write reviews, but I wanted to share my experience with Mr. Duct. I've been using them for about 3-4 years for my annual vent cleanings. Even though the pricing has changed over the years, I always agreed because the work was done well and I trusted their service. Recently, I signed up for a group vent cleaning, and although there was some confusion with the appointment, I appreciated that the team eventually tried to help clarify the situation. I called Mr. Duct * to clean my in-unit clothes dryer duct. I waited and waited (made sure I was home all day, didn't run the laundry or dishwasher in case he rang the doorbell, checked my messages/emails/phone constantly. Then they had the nerve to send a bill for $170(not by mail, not a real bill, but an email.) The bill didn't include my name or unit number. So either the worker lied or Mr. Duct is fraudulent. Every contractor provides an estimate, does the job, presents the bill (screen or paper), and I pay the bill immediately! (unless you are contesting/suing or contractor won't take credit cards) Then they provide a receipt (screen or paper) which I pass on to my the condo association. No photo because no-show. read more

great experiends. we needed ours clothes dryer vent cleaned. we knew it because the dryer was taking longer and longer to dry our clothes. we were referred to Mr Duct by a neighbor. Omar and Angelo came out and did an awesome job. They spent time in attic and in laundry room. And showed us before and after pictures. The technician pointed out that there wasn't much dust in the air ducts (they were really clear) and actually recommended we think about waiting to have them cleaned. He fixed the dampers that had broken off and was generally extremely pleasant to work with. I will absolutely call this company should we have any issues with our duct system. I called for a quote on having all vents cleaned. When they came they told me my dryer be my wasn't included and that was an additional $90. This is a common scam in this industry and one I had questioned them about when I made the appointment. The company called me immediately after Posting this review and took care of the issue. As a senior citizen not familiar with these procedures, I decided to go through the trouble of finding yelp because I can learn to support services that deserve it. This is one of those services. We will live in 150 unit building with limited access. They showed up on time, co-ordinated with the front desk, wore masks, were friendly and efficient and left quickly. read more

We live in a Condo and had a problem with our dryer. It was taking more than one cycle to dry our clothes. Mr. Duct quickly set up the appointment. Arrived on time. Mr. Duct was able to quickly resolve the problem with the dryer by cleaning the dryer vent. The charge was reasonable. I would definately use them again. read more

I could not recommend Mr Duct more highly!! Got a message on our dryer yesterday that the vent was blocked, and Mr Duct came today and fixed it Alvaro and Josh were amazing. Fixed the issue and rectified the underlying cause. Cleaned up when they were done, and were pleasant, efficient and professional. 10//10!! read more

The guys who showed up were prompt and nice enough, but they had no work order, no idea what they were supposed to be doing. I explained as best I could and checked in throughout the day, but came home to find almost nothing done. I managed to get a sizeable portion of our deposit back, but we're still out $1600 (something about a "minimum charge"? IDK. The story kept changing). All that money got us was 76 sq. ft. of insulation and a clean dryer vent. Oh, and unrepaired holes in the ceiling. Definitely not worth it.
