0/5 Stars -- Two Cancellations, Zero Accountability I want to warn others before booking with Air Flows Chicago. What should have been a simple service appointment turned into weeks of frustration and a complete failure of professionalism. We requested a quote online, paid a deposit, and scheduled an appointment for a Sunday afternoon (2-5 pm). We never received a confirmation email, but assumed the booking went through. When we couldn't reach anyone by phone to confirm, we let it go. On Sunday morning at 10 am -- hours before our appointment -- we got a call telling us they don't have technicians working on Sundays. Nobody could explain how we were able to book a Sunday appointment through their own online system, or what we were supposed to do next. I called Monday and spoke with a manager who admitted this was a known issue with their scheduling system -- one they were "working to fix." I was offered a discount and rescheduled for the following Friday, 8 am-12 pm. Okay, frustrating, but I gave them another chance. Thursday evening, less than 24 hours before that appointment, we received a voicemail saying our Friday appointment was also being cancelled because of "another service." No explanation, no apology, no alternative offered. I called back furious. I made clear I wanted someone to show up for the appointment we had. The person I spoke to went to check with a manager -- who couldn't even be bothered to call me directly. When they called back, the answer was simply: reschedule for next week. No compensation. No acknowledgment of the repeated failures. Nothing. The only thing Air Flows Chicago did quickly and without issue was refund my deposit when I demanded it. One additional note: their online booking system never made clear which location -- Air Flows Chicago or Air Flows Chicago Belmont -- was handling our appointment. We still don't know. That lack of transparency is itself a problem, and it's why I'm posting this on both listings. Two cancellations. A known broken booking system they hadn't fixed. A manager who wouldn't get on the phone. And zero effort to make it right. Save yourself the headache and book someone else. read more

I finally decided to have my bathroom exhaust fans cleaned and found Air Flows via a Google search. The mostly positive reviews made calling them seem like a no-brainer. I called late on a Thursday and was able to schedule an appointment the following week. I have three full bathrooms and initially planned on having all of my exhaust fans cleaned, but after receiving the quote I changed my mind. I live in a third floor condo, so the price was $199 per fan. It was $175 for the first floor units. I rarely use the exhaust fan in one of my bathrooms, so I decided that it wasn't worth paying a couple hundred bucks to have it cleaned. My technician was named Christian. He and his colleague arrived promptly and worked diligently. Christian took the time to explain exactly what he was doing and the reasons why. He also told me that I could take the fan cover off and clean it myself in between service visits. Christian was affable and I appreciated how respectful he was to my home. I had never had the fans cleaned so they were pretty dirty. It took nearly two hours to clean them both. Christian showed me the results and took the time to clean up after himself. I'm satisfied with the results and will call Air Flows again the next time I plan on having my exhaust fans cleaned. read more

I hired Air Flows Chicago to install a fan in my bathroom exhaust vent based on the many positive reviews. The total cost came to $950, which included a $139 service call. The technician was in my apartment for about 40 minutes total (less than 15 minutes for the service call and about 25 minutes for the installation). The technician was prompt, polite and professional, but we had a miscommunication about the wiring in the vent. When it was installed, the fan could not be turned on or tested because the wiring was not connected to any switch. I understand they don't handle electrical work, but I was under the impression that the wiring was tested/checked during the service visit for the estimate. After speaking to customer service, it seems the technician assumed that the wiring would be okay because a fan had previously been installed. When I reached out for an itemized invoice, I was told they are not provided. I asked for the specifications of the fan, and the images I was given led to a listing for a $30 fan on Amazon, which has some negative reviews for failing after a few months/being noisy. I was surprised by both the cost and source of the fan, and it made me question the overall value of the service. I called customer service, and the message was that pricing concerns should have been raised earlier, which is understandable. However, I accepted the quote because I trusted that it was fair and necessary for the amount of work and the quality of the product. In future, I will request more detailed quotes including parts and labor. My biggest concern now is that once the fan is connected to power I will need to replace it, and this whole experience will have been for nothing. read more

Air Flow was very professional and responsive for our small dryer vent cleaning project. They take pictures of before and after, so I can see what was done. They also "diagnosed" the cause of why our lint was built up so quickly, which was due to part of the vent hose was flexible. Will likely stick with them for dryer cleaning going forward. read more

TL;DR Hired Airflows to install a high-pressure ventilation setup. Their tech walked on my non-load-bearing ceiling, cracked it, botched the install, left debris in the ceiling, never communicated internally, & management alternated between denial & blaming me. Final discovery: every duct connection on a high-pressure system was attached only w/ aluminum tape--no collars, no clamps, no screws--meaning everything could fly apart. Absolutely not a company I'd trust w/ anything involving safety, pressure, or basic workmanship. I wasn't planning to write a review, but then I climbed up to inspect the work & realized just how spectacularly bad it was. So here we are. I needed serious ventilation for a powerful shower--nothing off-the-shelf would cut it. After a lot of research, I sourced an in-line radon fan & duct silencer myself & hired Airflows to install them. I supplied the materials, they supplied "workmanship," which they told me was under warranty, but the materials were not. They were informed of all the model numbers weeks in advance & had ample time to research the specs to know how to install it. The technician who showed up was friendly, but apparently allergic to ladders. Instead of using one to reach my 15-foot ceiling, he climbed into the ceiling & walked around on flimsy, non-load-bearing metal studs like they were a dance floor. Predictably, cracks formed. I let it go at first because he was nice & I needed the ceiling patched anyway. He had to come back two weeks later because he forgot to attach the electrical cover on the radon fan, which was a fire hazard. Then things unraveled. A duct connection blew apart a week later & the vent was literally flapping in the ceiling void when the fan ran. I asked Matthew (who quoted the job) about fixing it, & just replacing the current flex duct w/ a different kind & also mentioned the ceiling cracks--he said he'd talk to his manager. Then... silence. No returned calls. The techs arrived w/out any idea of the plan, quoted me even more than the previous quote that I declined, & told me the manager had to see the ceiling damage himself. The service manager came & looked at things, minimized all the damage & told me he'd have his boss call me later that day. The boss eventually called--& the conversation went from "concerned" to "accusatory" in record time. He suggested I could've made the ceiling damage myself, claimed his techs shouldn't have returned w/out charging me despite the workmanship warranty I was explicitly told I had, & said coming to look at the damage would cost me $295. He told me at least a 12 times that they record their phone calls which they can go back & listen to, to make sure they can verify what was said. He said he reviewed the recording & that there was no guarantee on workmanship. There absolutely was, I clarified that w/ Matthew on at least two occasions. When I asked him to send me the recording, he said he would not do that. I wonder why? I got an outside quote & informed him that it would be $300-$350 to fix the ceiling, expecting that to be the end of it. Then I went up into the ceiling myself. What I saw was astonishing. They had removed rigid ductwork but never bothered to take it out--just left everything lying up there. One reducer for the radon fan was perched on an electrical conduit fifteen feet above the ground, in a place only reachable by--yes--walking all over the ceiling again. & the real kicker: every single duct connection on this high-pressure system (capable of ~5" of positive or negative pressure) was "secured" w/ nothing but aluminum tape. No collars inserted two inches deep. No stainless steel worm clamps. No screws to lock anything together. Just tape. On a system designed to work at high pressure. Airflows had all the product specs weeks beforeh&. They had every opportunity to install it correctly. They simply... didn't. Now I can't even close my ceiling because the ducts are likely to detach as soon as the fan runs. The flex duct wasn't even supported or strapped to the floor joists like it's supposed to be--just hanging there. That was the moment I realized this review was no longer optional. If your project involves airflow, pressure, safety, or anything above ground level, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Edit: Just to respond to what the owner said. They knew ahead of time that I would be using my own parts & the quote reflected that. They also had all of the specs for each item. On the day of installation, the only thing the tech pointed out was that the flex duct was porous & not fully sealed. I knew this, its acoustical flex duct meant to attenuate sound. As for not notifying them about the damage to the ceiling, they are totally right. It was about 2-3 weeks before I notified them, & that's because I didn't want to get the nice tech in trouble, & $300 wasn't enough for me to make a fuss. UPDATE: After I complained about the service to them they did provide a significant discount. I think that takes them out of the "don't use these guys" territory and into "they screwed up but tried toake it right" territory, so I upgraded the review to 3 stars. Original review is below. - Do not use for duct cleaning if you have an older home with returns panned under floorboards or between walls. I thought they'd at least be able to vacuum some of those out but it just made everything worse. The agitator machines ended up blasting a ton of grit and dust into our bedrooms, which I had to spend 30 minutes sweeping and vacuuming. The techs did come back and fix one or two problems as best they could--the techs were good guys and seemed professional and polite. Honestly it's on the company, they should have checked my returns more thoroughly when they quoted the job. Their work on the supply lines (which are newer than the returns in my house) seemed better. So if you have a newer house this company is probably fine for duct cleaning. As it is, my house is dirtier than it was before and I'm out several hundred dollars. Can't help but feel I would be better off if I had just set the money on fire! read more

In early June 2025, we contacted Air Flow Chicago for a commercial kitchen hood motor upgrade from our existing 0.75 hp unit. After negotiating with the sales representative (Carlos), we agreed on a price. Ten days later, a crew arrived to install a 5 hp motor--and that's where the nightmare began. Two very young technicians showed up, spent nearly an hour on the rooftop reading the manual, and it was obvious they were inexperienced. They struggled with the installation, including trying to force the wrong belt fit, and had to call for extra parts. After four hours, the new motor briefly ran--then started smoking. They reinstalled our old motor, claiming the new one was defective. A replacement motor was brought out, and it failed again. The odds of two consecutive defective units are slim, yet instead of taking responsibility, the company began blaming our wiring. When a senior manager finally came with another motor, the issue still wasn't resolved. Days later, they installed a smaller motor, which finally ran properly, but by then our confidence was gone. To add insult to injury, they upsold us on a new hood fan with the promise of delivery in two weeks. Weeks passed with no update. When we followed up, they suddenly claimed the entire rooftop unit needed replacement. The worst revelation? They never replaced the motor at all--they had reinstalled our old motor without ever informing us. When confronted, they blamed us for "not listening." After escalating the issue, the owner himself called. Rather than apologizing for nearly causing a fire hazard and wasting months of our time, he issued an ultimatum: accept their overpriced proposal or get nothing. No accountability, no resolution. And after seeing how they operate, it's clear this company routinely sends technicians with no proper training or licensing, putting customers and businesses at serious risk. The only professional person we encountered throughout this entire process was Carlos, the sales representative. Unfortunately, even his professionalism couldn't make up for the irresponsibility and incompetence shown by the rest of the company. Now, three months later, we have received no refund and no proper service. Air Flow Chicago has wasted our time, money, and energy while showing zero responsibility from technicians all the way up to ownership. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

I'm not sure my vents had been properly cleaned before now. Seeing the before and after photos and having the process explained was really helpful. José and the other gentlemen who arrived were extremely professional, courteous and respectful of my home. José also informed me about air duct and furnace cleaning and explained the process. This review is an amendment to my prior rant. After my last review, Carlos reached out to me almost immediately to see what may have gone wrong and make it right. I explained in a little more detail why I was a little upset and sent some photos to him. He said he would rectify the situation, and he did! The next day Antoine and the original installer came back, installed the correct color vent cap, and sealed around the pipe where it came through the floor and wall. Excellent! Antoine also took the time to show me how the installer had already cleaned up the dryer lint that was all over the crawl space. The installer didn't mention it when he was first here, so I thought I still had a huge mess to address. He did a good job! I would highly recommend this company to my friends in the future. P.S, Antoine also offered me an extremely good price on whole-house duct cleaning which I'll probably take advantage of after my current project is completed. read more

We called around to several different places and we were turned down but this company had a very positive can-do attitude. They gave us a 4 hour window for the very next week. They called us a half a hour before they came and they were right on time. When Christian and his co worked showed up they knew exactly what to do. Our dryer vent was so filled with lint and they work at just the right pace. They take pictures and show you how clean the vent is and they have special tools and brushes. We have a 7 unit 4 story condo building. Needed the dryer vents cleaned. I think we have never had the higher floors cleaned from the outside. I've gotten into arguments with smaller vendors who say they can do it from the inside only. So we really appreciated their service to do the higher floors from the outside (and did inside where needed too). I tried to get a chimney cleaning and vent cleaning from multiple places that told me they were booked for months. Air flows came same day!! The guy actually was the most honest worker I've encountered, told me I didn't need a chimney cleaning ! He said it was clean , I appreciated the honesty . He also told me there was no nest in my dryer vent when I thought for sure there was. His honesty there saved me another $250.
