So, these past few weeks, like many in Chicago, were a flooding nightmare. We had multiple days with flooding in our basement causing our furnace and water heater sitting in multiple inched of water and causing me to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Inches of water being wet vaccumed up, dehumidifiers running constantly, and then I have no hot water or AC! I called Eco Temp to come out to look at our systems and see if there was significant damage or if the systems needed to be replaced. As a first time home buyer, we had all of our fingers and toes crossed that it would be a repair instead of a replacement. Jordan came out and looked thoroughly and repaired both systems for a fraction of what other companies were quoting me, because they were not adding on unnecessary work. While the repairs that were done were slightly more expensive, because they were not adding 15 other things (think mechanic refilling your "blinker fluid") we saved a couple hundred dollars choosing them. When I mentioned we just bought this house and it was a gut rehab, he asked if there were any other issues and identified that a damper in our system was stuck and that's why my daughter's room is always so much hotter than the rest of the house. I called on Thanksgiving Day to let them know that the boiler combo unit they installed was not putting out heat, but that I was prepared to wait it out until the next day with space heaters. No one calls me Black Friday morning, so I call them. They offer to "put me on the schedule". Jordan, the owner, calls and says he'd be out by 1 pm. At 1:30 no show, so we called (it's very cold). The receptionist said she'd send him a message. 6 pm still no one. Now the receptionist says Jordan is awol and won't answer his phone, but he will now also send a text message. It's 8pm and we are preparing to sleep with our space heater and hope the pipes don't freeze. read more
