Tacos
Anton K.

I was coming home from the the DMV in Randolph when I spotted Mr. Crabby. It is located on Route !0 in Randolph, New Jersey on the shoulder of the East bound lane. I have never visited this restaurant before and it was 4pm a little past my dinner time. The interior is spacious with functional tables spread around and a bar area. Not quite a sports bar vibe and not quite a formal restaurant but definitely a nautical theme. After being seated I was surprised to find out that during Happy Hour they serve drafts of Yuengling beer for $3. Margaritas and Mojitos ($7) tempted me as well. After the hassle at the DMV, I went for my REAL LICENSE, I could really use a $3 Yuengling draft. After chatting with the server I decided on the "Fish Tacos" ($16). The slaw was terrific along with the Pico Del Gallo, avocado and pepper jack cheese. In fact, the tacos were so good that it spurred another draft. While eating my tacos I saw a lobster roll come out of the kitchen and it looked really good. Regrets I had a few but to few to mention.

Good place for drinks and a late night bite. They always have music over the weekend, which makes fun for a date night. Food can vary depending on what you order, but still good.

Mr. Crabby's empty on a Saturday night at 7 pm.

Such a disappointment. When Mr. Crabby's first broke off from the Barn and Cinders I thought it was better. . Empty. Now I know why. They must have gotten a new chef? Waiter recommended an $18.95 app with shrimps, scallops and calamari. Calamari was chewy and gross. I complained. The waiter tasted it and agreed saying it's under cooked. He asked if we still want to take another chance or have it removed? I chose to remove it. I had a chicken parm sandwhich with fries. It was ok but Anthony Franco's pizzeria closer to home is better. Fries were stale. This is Mr. Crabby's. Its 7 pm on a Saturday night. The reason we came here was because everyone else was packed! Now we won't come back either. Waiter was very friendly. I gave it two stars because the waiter was nice. He deserves 5 stars but the seafood was lousy. Chicken parm was ok. My wife had a grilled chicken and apple wedge salad which she said was good. Later that night she had to take Tums.

A poor example of the bar

Went in March, the food was awful, and very expensive! Bathrooms were borderline disgusting. Unfortunately will not be coming back.

We ate last week on the patio and came away happy. Service was as excellent as always. My lobster roll was filled with fresh meat and served on a pair of fresh rolls. The fries were hot and crispy. My wife had their take on crab cakes and sweet…

Chopped salad - a variety of mixed greens and veggies well chopped. Nicely prepared. Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos - 3 tacos with large chunks of fresh Mahi Mahi. Garnished with red cabbage slaw and guac. Served with a side of rice. Top notch fish tacos that I highly recommend. The exterior is adorned with beautiful plants and flowers. The interior is bright and contemporary with a farmhouse vibe. Plus plenty of perfectly positioned screens to watch your favorite game. The service was on point for the most part. Our server was great but I think he was working too many tables bye himself so we kinda missed the opportunity to order a second round of drinks. We are definitely adding Black Rabbit to our regular rotation. Give it a try.

We got wings, which were delicious, but I'm so sorry to say, but we didn't love the food overall. With the steak dinner we got, the steak was over cooked and the fries tasted like burnt oil. The pizza also tasted like cardboard with sauce on it and the caesar salad tasted solely like anchovies. From the name "Mill Lane" I'm guessing there were once some mills down this way, but I didn't see any ruins. Just the bar. Warning, it's a tiny place. Not crowded, my friend and I found a table on Sunday game day, but don't bring a large group. Mostly locals who know each other, but a friendly atmosphere from guests and servers alike. Our bartendress was nice and sassy. Second warning: Do not use the jukebox. It will drown out everyone and leave your ears ringing for days. I think the people who put in a pair of songs realized that and it was blessedly quiet the rest of the day. Beer: Fairly on the expensive side. Out $9 for one draft Yuengling and one bottle. Those would be maybe $7 nearby at Johnnie's. Food was reasonable, though as I worked out the Halloween specials, I could get the same ingredients on the cheesesteak for a buck cheaper by ordering it off the regular menu. Maybe it's the pepper jack that did it. Maybe the 5 cents of BBQ sauce they'd add. As for the cheesesteak itself, which has gotten plaudits from others here? Decent. Good size, but the beef tasted really plain. American cheese melted into it. Nice amount of mushrooms. Side of onion rings a bit burnt but decent. I should have splurged on the special perhaps. The strangeness came as we got to the 4th quarter, when the bartendress disappeared. The two guys left basically ignored us. Sure, we weren't asking for drinks (which is generally how you get their attention)... but she would point to us when she saw our glasses empty, and they didn't. Also... we had an open tab that they weren't asking about. We totally could have left. Turns out the tab was actually closed! So they called her on the phone to bring her back inside, enter the tabs for a couple of us, and then close them out. Bizarre. Quirky local place, but I'll leave it for the locals.

He likes it here because they have the full size pint glasses where many other restaurants have switched to the smaller size. I got a Stella on draft because I'm not a fan of the stouts and lagers. Hubby got a cup of the hearty beef barley soup then enjoyed his corned beef sandwich with seasoned fries. Very big portion that he is going to have for lunch tomorrow. I went with the chicken curry. It's my daughter's go to favorite for this place and I know she will be happy to have some of my leftovers since the portion is so huge. Hubby liked dipping his fries in the sauce (as did I). Such a joyful meal! I highly recommend it! He got a coffee and we split a piece of cheesecake. It was a large plate for a small piece. It may not have been too small, but perhaps some Whipped cream or a smaller plate to appease the eye. The service is fantastic! We sat and had menus right away, whenever we finished a drink or food. They cleared items right away and were very attentive. There were TVs over the bar with various games and it looks like this was the place for World Cup soccer. The bar area is very lively and a fun place to hang out. But there are also multiple rooms where you can have a quieter meal or even outdoor dining when the weather permits. If you haven't been here, do stop by when you are in the Denville area. You will love it!

I had an open tab, and so did a friend, he was charged a correct amount but mine was doubled. I called the next day and spoke to a manager, he said it happened all the time and that it would clear within a few days- and it would be the correct amount. When it didn't, I called back and let him know. He was able to see my tab and my friend's tab and assured me that it would fixed, it would just take a few days to get in touch with their bank. He took my info and told me he would get back to me. That never happened. I called a week or so later, and was told the manager was not in, but they would get back to me. That months ago.
