My third time here and they always do a good job. The guy that does my nails (I forgot his name) really takes his time instead of rushing through my manicure. Friendly staff as well. I came in for an acrylic fill and regular polish, he offered to put gel topcoat to finish. Because gel costs more than regular polish I thought I would be charged for the price of gel rather than regular--my total came out to $17! The price and quality of the manicures I've been getting here make it worth coming back every 2 weeks without breaking the bank. I'm a happy girl :) read more

I walked in to this nail shop to get my nails done there for the very 1st time ever. When I walked in there was One customer and 4 employees from what I could see. I told the receptionist at the front desk that I wanted to get a pedicure and a Polish change on my nails. I generally spend anywhere from a 100 to a $160 when I get my nails done and I always tip well. The receptionist asked me if I had an appointment or if I was a walk in and I let her know I was a walk in, she looked at me and told me she's too busy. I will never recommend this business to anybody based off of the customer service and experience that I had just walking into the place. She didn't offer a time for later in the day or anything she just looked at me and said they're too busy. I will never ever recommend this place to anybody whatsoever. I usually tend to book appointments with either Nancy or Michael because they really are masters of their craft. This place is the reason I don't try new salons. My friend and I have been looking for a new salon and this one was NOT it. We called Sunday morning to make a same day appointment for pedicures. I got a gel pedicure and my friend got just a regular. So they started on my friends toes and maybe 10 minutes later started on mine. They lady was visibly annoyed that I already had gel on and started picking at it roughly with her fingers. When I said that it hurt, she laughed and called me sensitive. As she's doing my pedi, she cuts my toe, which starts to bleed and she proceeds to put the dirty tool back in with the rest of her tools and wipe off my toe as if I didn't see the blood. Fast forward to today and my toe is swollen and oozing puss. So if you don't want terrible service nor an infection from dirty tools, DON'T COME HERE. read more

I usually NEVER leave bad reviews, but I have to for my first experience here. I had a broken nail and was told by a friend to come in here. I went it last week to get it fixed with my boyfriend, they sat me down and began to fix my nail. The lady next to me was upset with her nails, so they had me go back to wait until hers were fixed. A middle aged male nail tech started working on my nail, he was hurting my actual nail under the acrylic so I told him. He kept going, even harder. I saw my real nail break and blood was coming out. I told him I was going to report him to state (as I did). He told me to leave the salon, with a bloody, broken nail. As I was getting up I heard him whisper "ni**a". I am appalled. It's only $2 more, HOWEVER, when you didn't get what you requested and are charged more it makes it a tough decision on whether to tip well or not. Yesterday 2 of my friends and me decided to check this nail spa salon out :) So we made phone reservation for 12:00 pm, and went there. We arrived about 5 min before our appointment time. And we were unpleasant surprised because all customer service people were busy with the other clients. We had to wait for about 20 minutes before being invited. After some small minus moments we got nail-polishing service. No complains about service itself. All persons who worked with us were very nice, skillful and professional. We loved the look of our new-polished nails :) We definitely will come to this nail-spa-salon again. I recommend it to my friends. Just be more persistent one exact appointment time when booking over the phone :) read more

Yea, you females on here giving this place 5 stars are giving off strong "basic bitch" vibes. I came in yesterday Afternoon because I just really needed to sit back, relax, treat myself, and get these toes done because they were beginning to look like they could cut open Christmas presents. I called about 45 minutes in advance and scheduled my 11:15 appointment. Got there, waited less than 5 minutes to be put into my designated Spa Chair, the man spoke to me and helped me place my Starbucks on the attached tray table of the Spa Chair. So far so good right? Until we got to the segment of the Pedicure where I swear every Nail Salon in the Bay Area has got me bent, the "massage". I need all you Manicurists to get your life. Rubbing & slapping lotion/oil repeatedly on a customer's ankles, feet, and calves back and forth until there is no remnants of it left on our skin is not a foot massage. I can rub and slap lotion on those areas myself at home for free. In addiition to that, the man giving me my Pedicure leans forward asks me "Do you want Sea Salt?", I'm thinking okay yea sure, it's been a while since my last Pedicure and I know you saw how rough my feet were when I got in this chair so of course, hit me with some Lavender Sea Salt. He once again proceeds to just half ass slap it around, and I'm just over it at this point. Now, I'm out the chair, I'm at the drying station reading my book and waiting for my polish to dry and tell him that I'm ready to pay because once my polish is dry I just wanna walk out the door. Ladies...why did this man look me in my face and tell me $22? I reply, "Wait, it says on the Price List that a Pedicure is $18." "Oh no, Sea Salt Pedicure 22 dollars." -______________- !!! You got whole ass nerve charging four extra dollars and all you did was give me an equivalent to a TSA pat down with some damn colored salt. Maybe I would've been more accepting of the price increase if you actually took the time out to massage my feet with some conviction. Eh, I'm coo of this place. I'll never come back here again. I was working from home a couple weeks ago so I thought I would go get a pedicure and my nails done on my lunch. well I ran out of time so i told them I would be back for the pediciure as soon as I was done working. Well I forgot my sandals right where I was sitting. I went back after work which was about 2-3 hrs later and nobody seemed to know where they were. They weren't even trying to look for them. But it's funny cause 1 of the ladies who wasn't even near me when i was getting my nails done knew exactly what they looked like. For one... why would a grown ass women straight steal my used sandals. Who does that shit? Went to this salon for first time today. I made an appointment and when I arrived, they took me right away. Very friendly staff. Everyone was nice. The salon looks clean and it is spacious. The services provided were good (mani/pedi/wax) and they finished quickly. The only complaint I have is that as I was getting my nails done, the technician asked me if I would like an additional service. I said, maybe. How much? He replied $22 so I said ok. However, when it was time to pay, he said it was $32. Now, I may have heard him wrong and granted, there was somewhat of a language barrier-but I'm 99% positive he originally said $22. If it hadn't been for that miscommunication, I would have given them 5 stars. But because of this, I felt a little hustled and left with a bad feeling about them. read more

I got my nails done here once for the first time. I live in the neighborhood and decided to give it a try. I am very picky and particular about how my nails are done and this place did a great job. I didn't feel rushed and both of the technicians that worked on my feet and hands did a great job. They took the time to really clean and let everything dry before letting me out the door. I have had my paint job on both my hands and feet for over two weeks now due to the quality of the work they did on them. I will be going back for sure. Nancy is the best for manicures & pedicures. She is thorough and for my jacked up feet, she always brings out the artillery of pedicure clean up - a metal foot scrubber!! She also gives major bomb manicures. I just love how she takes her time & makes sure I am happy when I leave. It is a family-run business that takes care of its customers. I'm a bit confused with the rave reviews on this place. I walked in at about 3 on a Saturday, I didn't have an appointment so I had a wait of about 15 minutes, which didn't bother me a bit. A gentleman (don't know his name) did my nails but they were pretty substandard. The acrylic wasn't applied correctly to my nail shape, so the results were very odd looking nails and the polish was not applied right either. Just sort of thrown on so it ended up looking really patchy. For around 20 dollars I guess I couldn't expect perfection but I would expect a little better. The salon itself is very spacious and well equipped and most of all clean. But it doesn't make up for the bad nail job and the fact the man who did my nails barely spoke two words to me. Also a hold up with paying. I made sure I asked beforehand if they took Amex and I was assured they did. When it got time to pay there was a five minute wait of them trying to scan my card with nothing happening before they realized they didn't take it. All in all, I would not recommend this place. Its cleanliness and spacious area in no way make up for the poor job. read more

Most nail salons will only allow walk-ins, but this one will take appointments as well as walk-ins. I just wasted 45 minutes waiting for a mani pedi when two women walked in with appointments and were bumped ahead of me. You have no way of knowing how many appointments they have when you walk in. What kind of messed up system is this? I would skip this salon unless you'd like to waste your time, gambling that they don't have appointments booked up. The worst part was how they handled it, they just ignored me as they sat the other two women. I would have appreciated them letting me know when I first arrived that there would be over an hour and half wait, possibly more. read more

I went to my Saturday appointment and was promptly seated at one of the non-functional massage chairs. A rude older woman began my pedicure, pulling her tools out of an unsterile draw, only to stop abruptly and scrub the foot-tub next to me with the same gloves she was using to touch my feet. Of course, she wanted to continue my pedi with those same gloves. I had to tell her to change them before continuing what's suppose to be a relaxing experience. Over to my right, a nail technician dropped some of the hot towels onto the floor and placed them back into the heated oven-like area. Fast forward to the gel-mani, and the same rude nail tech didn't want to apply the color I had originally asked for. I chose something else with reluctance. She asked me why my nails were so dirty and continued to make comments about me to the other nail tech next to her - what an uncomfortable experience it was. It's only two days later and one of my index finger nails are chipping on the side. I wish I had left mid-pedicure. Awful experience! Do not come here! read more

Just got my nails done like an hour ago for the wedding I am going to this weekend. What a great find from my friend. They are currently having a grand opening special 40% off. So I got a shellac manicure with design and a regular pedicure. The total damage was only $31 and that includes my tips!! Nina was the one who serviced me, I believe she was the owner. She did a great job especially on my manicure. I had a special request on the design and the results were exactly how I wanted. I would definately go back again. There regular pricing is very reasonable as well $20 for a shellac manicure. I also love how everything is so brand spanking new and clean. read more

I went to MP nails as a walk in for pedicure. There was only one other customer when I walked in. The owner took me within minutes of my arrival. She was friendly but doesn't speak much English so it was difficult for me to communicate exactly what I wanted/didn't want. The part of the pedicure I was looking forward to most, the massage, was a huge let down. She asked if I wanted the sea salt scrub. I hesitated and she said if I don't like it she will stop. I said okay and as soon as she started I knew I didn't like it. It was rough and kind of painful. I told her this and she continued scrubbing my legs and said that she wouldn't do it next time. She spent about 60 seconds "massaging" my feet and calves and was on the phone the whole time. She was answering the phone repeatedly throughout the entire pedicure. She stopped several times in the middle of doing my nails and walked away. At the end of the pedicure she walked away to work on someone else's nails. I had no idea if I was supposed to get up to pay or what. Eventually I got up and asked for the bill. I saw that she still charged me for the salt scrub. I had been there for nearly an hour at this point and didn't feel like arguing for it to be taken off the bill. I would say the cleanliness of the salon is questionable. Even though the polish looked decent and lasted a long time, my overall experience was not worth my time or money. I'll paint my own nails next time. read more

This is my new favorite nail place! Great customer service! I needed my nails done this evening and was at a different nail salon which was too busy to take me. After 40 mins of waiting I decided to leave and find a different place. Lucky for me I found MP Nail Salon! Even though they were busy, they got me seated right away and got my tired feet soaking in the nice warm water. I came just under an hour before they were set to close so I was worried they would rush me out. It was the complete opposite! They took their time to do a great mani-pedi with gel and stayed over an hour past closing to finish the job. I never once felt they were rushing. 5 stars for taking pride in their work and making sure the customer is happy! I will be coming again soon! read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE! So far ive been here twice..... the first time i went Sam did my nails and feet he did a really good job he was very nice and very talkative... the 2nd time i went TJ did my nails! TJ is so nice and down to earth he is also super funny i enjoyed his conversation overall the place is really nice very clean and a good enivornment to be in. I've been here a few times over the last couple of years but avoid it unless in a hurry. Yesterday I got a lousy looking pedicure from a surly lady who cut the nail on my big toe way to short - plus broke the skin. Today I woke up with an infection. The whole area is swollen and red. I am treating it with disinfectant, keeping a bandage on it, and will have to avoid closed toe shoes until it heals! I am concerned about an ingrown nail as well. I've never gotten an infection or ingrown nail from any salon anywhere. This is unacceptable. There are lots of places to get your nails done - avoid this place unless you want to risk infection! read more

The first time I went into MP nails to get my gel manicure it was great! I had the man whom I believe is the owner along with his wife, who I think is Nina. He was very slow, but thorough. The manicure lasted the normal 2-3 weeks. The next time that I went in and had my nails done by someone else, they started peeling after just 1 week, so I went back to tell them, and they totally got upset with ME, as though I had done something wrong!! The husband timidly asked his wife what they should do, and she said they could fix them, but they had to charge me $5. I was not happy about it since the whole idea behind gel nails is to last a lot longer than regular nail polish. When it happened again a few days later, I tried going back and complaining, but they didn't get it, and so I left and went elsewhere. Several months later, when I couldn't get into my normal nail place, I tried them again. They were ok. But when I went back 2 weeks ago, I had the same issue with the peeling nails within just a few days!! So this past Monday I went in for a pedicure, and explained my issue with the peeling nails, and the lady who did my toes said she would fix them, but was totally rude, and extremely rough. After talking to the same woman owner, very rudely in their language, she went on to fix my nails. But after noticing that they were all beginning to lift, she decided to fix them all. Then, without being told ahead of time, they charged me $5 extra for the repair of their gel Nail polish that lasted just a week! I again paid it and said nothing, since I knew it would be a big deal!! Anyway, this morning, JUST 5 days LATER, 3 of my nails started to peel again! And mind you, as a fibromyalgia patient, I rarely even do any chores, like dishes to cause them to peel so quickly! So I went back to tell them. And again I explained it to the timid man who is the owner. Again he called his rude wife Nina, to handle the situation, and she began yelling at me, saying that I always have a problem with my nails, opened her drawer, and gave me my $5 back and basically told me to leave and not come back!! I have NEVER been treated so rudely! I cannot possible be the only person with gel nails that last just a week or less!!! If there was a way to give them 0 stars I would, just based on the owners behavior let alone the problem with their polish! I just couldn't believe it! From now on I will stick with Julie's Nails also in Pinole. They are very good! read more
