I use to come here but stopped due to them always being busy. I recently tried a new shop and let's just say my nails were DAMAGED... needless to say I scheduled an appointment with Jessica for a pedi and Van did my mani.... They brought me back ! My nails and feet look AMAZING. I will forsure be back. They both were patient, professional and did a great job. Looking at the reviews I was skeptical because of what everything that was said but I think it's just a need to try for yourself type of place. Sure the shop may be a little out dated but before we adapted to these "luxury " shops we had the mom and pop shops who we went to heavenly. Me personal like the mom and pop shops due to the atmosphere , these newer updated shops suck in a lot of departments such as customer service and professionalism even their work ! I walked in on a damp Saturday morning hoping to be able to get a mani/pedi, or at least a pedi. (Saturday morning is not the time to go to a nail shop without an appointment, but go I did.) Luckily, they were able to take me immediately. (That might otherwise be a warning sign, but I hadn't had a spa pedicure since pre-COVID days. Enough said. LOL) I got a basic mani/pedi, and I do mean basic...and hurried. (A woman walked in announcing she had an appointment. The technician acknowledged her and told her to take a seat. She was still seated, waiting 30 mins later.) Bottom line, while I think it was too expensive for a basic mani/pedi and while there was nothing spa-like about it, I walked out with my hands and feet in far better shape than when I arrived. NOTE: I wasn't aware when I walked it, but THIS IS A CASH ONLY SHOP. I probably won't be back here, but I appreciate that I was able to walk in and get a pedi early on a Saturday morning. read more

The kids and I were bored at home and decided to just do our nails. There were only two people working and they were pretty busy. They accommodated us even if we waited really long, but we ain't complaining since we were a walk-in customers. Staff were friendly and courteous. They made the two kids comfortable and happy. My toes looks awesome and the kids enjoyed their mani and pedi. Definitely recommended and will go again, just need to call for appointment next time. read more

I tried this place since I remember it being good but nope thank you! I don't think i will ever come back here. I got pedi and mani gel.. but just like the other reviewer said the lady who assist me was such in a rush and did left brush stroke to my nails. Also when I noticed that my one of nail have bumps on it and try to get it fix, she tried to get away by just filling them. This is not my first time getting my nails done and I never experienced this before. She try to reason that no one is gonna take a look at it closely.. ummmmn that's not how you supposed to handle that situation. Aren't we all paying for the great service expecting a perfect mani/pedi each time? This is ridiculous! I rarely complain and still left with 15% tip even though I'm not happy! Overall don't recommend it and I rather spend my money somewhere else! Completely regret coming back here. Update: Brought down to one star. I woke up the next day with infected right big toe. This review is not for the job done on my nails but for the price gauging that is inconsistent and the filthiness of the shop. I have come here several times for a gel fill when I can't get to regular nail lady. The price is always $35. Today I asked to get my nails cut down. When I got ready to pay Van looks at my hand sees I'm holding a $50 then proceeds to charge me $45. I said the price is always $35 for a gel fill. He said well I charged for the cut down. I said $10 for a cut down? He said, "no $5". Well then how could it be $45 because $35 plus $5 is $40. It goes without saying that I will never ever go back. These people are really hard up for money so if you go here watch out for the moving price scale and for the wife who gives the roughest pedicures. She made my toes bleed one time and that was enough for me --she never gave me another pedicure. I see other customers getting pedicures from her and they are saying ouch and twisting in their chairs from her roughness. The shop is nasty and unkept with papers and old mail shrewd all over the reception area and stacks of papers piled high behind the reception desk. I don't know when they last cleaned their stations, maybe 2011? I'm surprised in this era of COVID 19 that the CA board of cosmetology has not shut them down for their lack of cleanliness. I've been going to vans on & off for YEARS. The last two times I realized the price increase. My last visit was my last visit. Jessica who is always sweet was beyond rough on my feet , I also noticed the soreness of my toes after my pedi was done. On this last visit to vans, I paid $70 for a gel polish on my natural nails & a gel pedicure. Let me add, that I don't get a manicure just a polish so $70 is ridiculous. These are services I pay $55 at my normal shop. I would also agree with another yelper, you increased the prices but there has not been any Upgrades to the shop. I would definitely recommend that you work on the cleanliness of the establishment. Van the community loves you and would love to continue to support you but let's be real, we were all affected by the pandemic. read more

Horrible! Don't waste your money here. My lady rushed my gel manicure. 25 mins from start to finish. Instead of soaking off my gel manicure, she peeled off my gel. What else can go wrong??? To name just a few....air bubbles, dust, bumpy nail surface, and uneven paint job. She missed all the sides. I got my nails done 2 days ago, and they are chipping already. Located so close to home, I decided to give this place a try. It's located in a small shopping center. I guess I haven't been too aware of my surrounding because I've only noticed it within the last couple of months but apparently it's been open since November 2008. Oops! The salon itself is very plain and simple looking. It's also very clean inside. There's 4 working massage chairs for pedicures and 4 stations for manicures. The staff was very friendly and full of smiles. The owner, Van, did my pedi...he did an excellent job! I can actually say that it's the best pedi I've ever had. Reason it's the best is because he didn't rush with putting the nail polish on and made sure the whole nail was polished. Not only that, it was the best foot/leg massage because he put his male strength behind it...love the hard massages! The prices are very reasonable at $20 for a spa pedicure. The business hours are great. Van told me they'll close late if a customer is waiting. As long as a customer is there, they'll leave the door open. Even if more customers walk in after closing time, they won't get turned away! I've found my new "go to" salon so close to home. I'm such a happy camper! read more

I should've read the negative reviews before coming here because I had the same experience they all had. The lady lied and said come back in 30 mins. Come back only to wait another hour. When it was finally my turn, I was on edge the whole time thinking she was about to cut me at the speed she was going. It probably took her 10 mins to do my gel pedicure. I didn't even want a mani after seeing how the pedi was going so when they tried to soak my hand in the water to start it I said helllll nah I'm good. They pretty much wasted my whole day with an unpleasant experience. That's not it, I go to pay and did not know they only took cash. She points to mechanics bank across the street. So now I have to get charged extra fees. And the worst part was, it was $40 for 10minute gel pedicure. Nothing special. Def never returning. read more

I'm writing this as I'm waiting to be seen. Mom and I decided to get our nails done today and our normal shop is closed Sundays so we decided to give this place a shot. Called them to see if they were busy for a fill and a manicure. The guy said sure come now! That's what we did. It has been nearly 40 mins since I got here. Mom got started 10 mins ago. When I asked How much longer until I can be seen the guy tells me it's my turn after he finishes the girl who he just started.... this is horrible and I will leave once my moms manicure is done if I'm not started on by then... This was my first time going to this place since I moved to Rodeo a little over two years ago. The place was completely empty, and the lady helped me immediately to get a pedicure. I asked her if she had any special pedicures and she said they only had spa pedicures. I only need a regular pedicure and when she set up the water for me she made me wait more than 5 minutes after she turned on the water, she went to the back and didn't come back after 10 minutes. She criticized my toes by making a rude comment. I asked her if she could use a tool to clean the extra skin off my feet and she said I can do that at home, and I told her I know I can do it at home, my question was to pay a little extra to get that done, because I usually get that done at the other places I go get my toes done and she said it was prohibited by the state of CA. She finished painting my toes and then just walked away to the back. She never told me to wait for my toes to dry in a different location. Her husband came in to help me a few times to check on my toes. When I was ready to pay they told me they didn't take credit cards and I need to pay with cash only. Mind that no signs were anywhere on the salon stating that the only form of payment was "CASH". I have been to other businesses and the first thing they let you know is that you can only pay with cash. I didn't have cash so she told me to go to the closest liquor store to get money and asked for my phone number to make sure I came back to pay. I ended up getting money from the liquor store (paid an additional $3 to get money back) and came back and pay. If I knew that they only take cash from the beginning, I will not stay. I will not come back to this business again. I want to support a local business that was extremely close to home but they have the worse customer service and the lady is just rude when you ask her questions or makes rude comments about you. I will go back to my regular place in Hercules. read more

Long overdue, as I have visited this parlor about 6 times. It is a typical nail shop that also does waxing, etc. Overall they do an okay job, nothing spectacular. A few times I have had nice-looking gels from here, but more often the gel is lumpy, bumpy, messy and they get it on my cuticles. The most perturbing thing about this place though is that the guy who owns it does an exceptionally crappy job. He's sloppy and his gels chip within a few days. They charge more than most places (ten dollars more for gels!) and its just pretty lame overall. I tried to like it here since its close by, but screw it. Van, the honeymoon is over. I have been getting my nails done for years, at all different places, and i can honestly say that VAN does the best acrylics. I always walk away very happy. The pedicures are also great, I don't know his name, but the younger guy, did the BEST massage I have ever had. My biggest complaint is time. I went to Van Nails for my first time for Valentine's Day weekend Feb,13,2016. The man did a horrible Job. Van the owner was out of town, only two people was working that day. The service I received was the gel mood nails full set.The nails was improperly put on. The man shaped them uneven, cut my cuticles. My gel polished starting chipping two days later. Gel nails don't suppose to chip! I payed 30 dollars. So when Van got back In town I called, and let him know I need a refund. Today I went to Van nails to get my refund and he was giving me a really hard time. He told me he would do my whole service all over. He also told me he can't refund me. He was VERY unprofessional! When I was talking to him he would stop in the middle of the conversation, and ignore me. He would talk to other people. I got frustrated, but I still remained calm. Then I demanded for my refund. He give me 25 dollars. I was not satisfied! He told me he didn't have anymore money to give me. Then I went to go get my husband. He gave me the rest of my money so fast ;) Five dollars. I got ruled In my favor ! So please don't go to this shop. Stop wasting you money and time! You can pay the same prices some where else!
