I've been to Yana a few other times, and I really like her! She's usually fast, efficient, no nonsense. But this time, I kind of want to cry a little bit. I wanted to just bring my highlights up and toner for the whole thing, but ended up with a full head lightening. I had like dirty blonde highlights. And I told her I do not like warm shades, but she insisted that that's what suits my skin. I lost all my dimension and the shade I loved, and ended up with platinum blonde and yellow roots. I really wanted to be okay, but then my trim, which I showed a picture for, ended up cutting off like all my hair when I explicitly asked for her to just take off the bulk at the back of my head where the disconnected grown out undercut is because it was getting super thick there. I asked for her to just freshen up the rest of my ends...she cut off like two inches of my short hair and now I have a pixie cut, which is not at all like the 90s curtain bangs crop I was growing out. It was the complete opposite. I have all these crazy, choppy layers in my hair and its super thin all over now. I had to go get toner done somewhere else to make the color not so terribly bright and hot near the roots still. I really don't like leaving bad reviews but I literally wanted to cry after I left because I came in asking for one thing and came out after hours later with the complete opposite of what I asked for. It's the liberty with the hair cut that really killed me. My hair is so short now that it has no flow, and I'm devastated. read more

I've been coming here for at least a year now and been getting services from Yana. Yana at first interaction may come across as rude because of her tone of voice, but I will assure you she's the nicest person. She might come across as rude because she does not sugar coat what she says. I like her professionalism. She is honest and will inform you straight up if the color you want is doable or not. Yana will not just color your hair for money, she cares about the health of your hair, so if you want your black hair to become golden or blond (lifted so much) during your first session, then you are at the wrong salon. There is a process for that and you must trust the process. She also gives you advice and tips on how to care for your hair. With every session, I always learned something about hair (not only hair, other topics too). I enjoyed my conversations with her as they are intellectual. I love my hair. She listens to my requests. Overall, I finally got the color I want, that's after at least two sessions with her. At the third session, I could already see the color I have been wanting, it perfect but on the way. On my fourth session, I was truly happy. By the way, make sure to wear something warm in the winter because this place has high ceiling, meaning even with heater on, it will still be cold (well I'm always cold but it's good to have layers) - remember, hot air stays up. read more

First time here! Yana was my stylist, and she was amazing! I'm so happy I came to her! She's super cute, personable, and genuine! She works with what you like/want, but tells you what's up when it comes to it being a reality thing versus fantasy. My hair is dark brown and long. I wanted really blonde balayage, which I knew it wasn't gonna happen in one session and I told her that. But she told me she'd try her best to get it as blonde as she could for the first round without damaging my hair. She's so knowledgeable in knowing what's best for your hair and what you can do to maintain/keep it healthy. She goes out of her way to make sure and see how you're liking your hair from beginning to end. AND she's really fast and efficient. I'm coming back in 2 months to get it lighter! My 3 main requests: 1) She gave my long, curly hair a much-needed trim by texturizing, layering, and cleaning up the unhealthy ends while still maintaining the length. 2) She added some fun copper highlights and lowlights to cover my grays for the fall season, and did so in a way that ensures the color would blend in with my natural color as it grows out. 3) She kept the integrity of my original highlights and integrated the copper without over-processing my already tired, highlighted hair. I decided to call Salon 2138 and setup an appointment with Heidi. My hair was long, angles had grown out, and was looking pretty flat. Ok she tried to surprise me this happened over a month ago I came in to get blow out and root touch up, plus I was still working so I was distracted and realized too late what she was doing, I asked what are you doing this is not a root touch up and she said it's a surprise, finally I realized she attempted to put blond streaks in my hair which I would never do bc I truly dislike blond hair on myself, I am more of a dark hair color girl for myself but here I was with not blond but orange streaks in my hair and did not like it, I asked why did you put these streaks in my hair? I left my hair cut with frizzy hair & zero product in it. For a $70 hair cut I would at least expect some leave in conditioner or maybe some frizz serum but nothing was applied to my hair except for shampoo, conditioner & heat protectant. I just moved to the area in March from Concord. My go to hairstylist was in Brentwood, but Hercules isn't exactly next door to him anymore. Taking a chance with Salon 2138, I was surprisingly satisfied. I waited a few weeks to post this because I wanted to see how my hair held up and I'm still pretty happy with it. Heidi took my all over blonde highlights and turned them into a beautiful chestnut/caramel brown color that looks a lot better on my complexion. I've been trying to find someone who can give me this color for the longest time and finally have it! She didn't use any bleach to lighten my dark roots, she deposited only high lift color to keep the integrity of my hair. On top of that, she gave me a cut that transformed my shapeless hair into something with a little more bounce and character. I went in wanting a specific haircut. Asked the owner Heidi for some bangs and even showed her a picture. I trusted that she would get the job done. I walked out the salon feeling semi confident thinking it's hair and it would grow back. Didn't think much of it at the time of the event. I will not be returning to this establishment. While my haircut was acceptable (not amazing, but good), the salon owner was just brusque and rude. She spent most of my haircut complaining that so many people think she's over-priced (she is) and arguing with clients on the phone (presumably about her high prices, from what I could hear). She seemed quite dissatisfied with her clientele. Her blowout left a bit to be desired, she was quite rough and pulled my hair a good bit. She also hit me in the head with the brush repeatedly, which was just weird. I've never had that happen. She was very short with me when I initially called for my appointment and seemed put out that I was asking to book with a stylist that no longer worked there (I had no idea, as this person's photos and info are still listed on the page). My gut told me not to book with her, but I didn't listen. Won't do that again. So, if you want to be treated like you're annoying or wasting someone's time and pay for it, definitely book your next appointment here. I had my hair done by Yana. The only reason why I'm giving her 1 star is that when I came in I had my hair in a bun. Mind u, my hair when is dry it looks thick and wavy but when is wet is very thin and light. So I put my hair down she immediately look at it kinda annoying and she said, oh gosh this is gonna take me forever. She thought it was gonna be hard to brush it out. Cause how wavy and curly it was. Then she started to take a brush she started brushing probably 2 brushes. She gonna tell me can you brush your hair out for me? I didn't mind doing it, Didn't take me that long to brush it out then she start feeling it and put her hand through my hair. She was like, oh your hair it's not what thought it will be. It's very thin and lite I thought it's gonna be hard to brush it out cause how wavy it looked. The color I went for was golden brown and I want it my whole hair color. But when she was done it was only the tails that were colored. I paid over 200 something for something that I didn't get. And the way how she judges my hair instantly. But not even try to do it, after all, it is her Job! She booked my appointment for 6 pm just because I was her last client. I can tell she was rushing! Would I recommend NO, NO, and NO? Go to where you will get treated fairly no matter how your hair looks. Especially when we are paying that amount of money. read more

I called and was able to book a same day appointment with Heidi, who was able to book me on her day off. Heidi was very professional, personable and very easy to talk to. I told her what kind of style I was looking for and she helped me select a color that would compliment my skin tone. Initially I was a teensy bit nervous as this would be the shortest I've had my hair cut, but it came out perfect. In addition to regular hair cuts and colors, I've begun incorporating scalp treatments into my routine with Adriana. I have been getting my hair done with Adriana since April 2017 and it has been the best. She does amazing cuts and color. In the video below, this is my hair after a scalp treatment and one month after my most recent color/balayage. This review is solely about scalp treatments! I highly suggest her scalp treatment if you suffer from severe dandruff and dryness. I already have a dry scalp to begin with but especially around this time of year, my dry skin worsens. I never knew scalp treatments existed until the beginning of the year. I've learned that the skin on your head is just as important as the skin on your face. What Adriana does is takes a brush and brushes off every inch of dead skin and dandruff on your scalp. It's honestly pretty gross to see the layers of dandruff that come off. But think about it, it's all that dead skin, shampoo residue and oil just clogged into your scalp. It also feels amazing!! I partly go because its therapeutic and such a nice feeling to get your scalp scratched at. After, she applies a dandruff gel that sits in your hair for about 20 minutes. It's a nice cooling sensation, you can begin to feel your scalp come back to life. She'll also massage your head for a bit which is amazing! I've noticed a huge difference in my hair ever since these scalp treatments. I have less dandruff and dry skin now and it makes life so much better without the constant itching and scratching and dandruff flakes all over my clothes. She also has great hair care products to keep the dandruff at bay in between appointments. Scalp treatments are $60 and totally worth it. Depending on how thick your hair is, she can spend anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. Go do it now!! read more

These reviews really bothered her as she takes pride in her business. Heidi always tries to please her customers offering anything to make it right as I understand she offered her services to make these customers happy. In business you cannot please everyone. I would recommend they take her up on her offer! I've bounced around salons for a while looking for one that is the right fit for me. Salon 2138 is located in a great spot. Let me start by saying this review in no way way reflects the quality of their hair cuts, etc. I never got that far. I called the salon on a Thursday evening and spoke to Ashley. I was thrilled to get an appointment the following morning at 10am. Come 10am Friday morning I'm standing outside of the salon, but it's locked and no one appears to be inside. Thinking I goofed up and came at the wrong time or thinking I had an old address, I double checked their hours here in Yelp (they open at 9am, it was now 10:15), checked their address on Yelp and their website and checked the time I put down in my calendar. I even tried calling the salon. After waiting for half an hour thinking maybe they got caught up in traffic (it was a rainy day) I finally left. Even assuming a schedule snafu happened and they didn't come in till later thinking they had no appointments - It's absurdly unprofessional to have no one at a place of business during their posted 'open' hours. read more

I live in Walnut Creek but travel here for my hair because Yana has been amazing. My sister recommended her to me because she had been going to Yana. We've been trying to make me look younger for a while and today I got the curls of my dream. I reluctantly had a perm to tame my very thick, very stubborn hair. Every time I got a perm (by other hair dressers) I looked like Little Orphan Annie (on steroids). Yana promised soft curls/waves and I am thrilled. She is delightful to work with, and the salon is in a really cute district of the Rodeo shoreline that is such fun to drive in to. Parking is alway available next to the salon. Can not say enough about how great the experience is. The fee for services is shockingly below what I expected to pay for hair care. As stated by another reviewer, I was definitely impressed by being able to get a late evening appointment which was very appreciated. I had wanted a cut, because my hair had gotten to a point where it was just too long. I thought that she knew how to cut curly hair because we both were talking about how I did not want to look like a pyramid. The cut was shorter than I requested, and even shorter still because my curls were no longer weighed down and became even curlier. When I needed a suggestion for highlights, she put her opinion into what she thought would look best, and she knows what looks good! I have slightly wavy/straight-ish dark hair. She gave me subtle but noticeable highlights and a layered low maintenance cut that frames my face well. I stopped at the store after and had a stranger stop me to compliment my hair! Yana is extremely meticulous and patient and I am so glad to have my first balayage done by her. You know how some stylist brush on highlights like people brush sauce on BBQ ribs or butter their brea? Swoosh wipe swoosh wipe. Instead, Yana slowly paints on the color as if your hair is canvas and she painting delicate art. The process took a long time, I have A LOT of hair, and she never rushed ... even though we didn't finish until close to 9PM.
