I have used their services in the past week to pack and move, and this is probably the worst movers company I've worked with. To start off, the packer broke a vase that has been in our family for a decade, and then tried to cover it up in their photo try to make it look like it was repairable - judge for yourself to see if a freaking chinese vase can be repaired when it was broken into multiple small pieces like this. I immediately call them, to be told that it will be settled later with the invoice, guess what, the invoice came without any mentioning of this. And then we have the movers, who managed to scratch the floor in our new home, forgot boxes in the old house, and spent 1.5hour to have lunch before arriving at our place - of course they only had 30 mins lunch according to their invoice. So my family has used MoveStar a handful of times and never had major problems. This summer, I moved with MoveStar twice in 6 weeks. The first 4-man team took 8 hours for a 2BR apartment, much longer than I expected. They apparently were training someone new so they had to send a fifth guy midway through to help. They didn't charge me for the trainee's time but I obviously paid for the extra hours due to the slowdown. But they packed the storage unit really well and were personable guys. I contemplated knocking off a star for the move taking so long but everything after it was handled so well that I decided not to. My coffee table got broken in the first move but they took it back to their warehouse and Robin did an awesome job fixing it up-- it actually looks better than before! The second move was a breeze. Daniel and his team did the same move out of storage in only 5 hours. I will be asking for him specifically in the future! Overall, MoveStar has been honest through this whole process, which is the most important thing to me. They were more expensive per hour than some of the other quotes I got, but it was worth it for the peace of mind knowing they were trustworthy. read more

I cannot begin to say how bad this company was - I am missing several boxes among which are six lamp shades and the harps, which they packed, my master bedroom duvet and dust ruffle, a queen custom duvet, and an entire box of kitchen things, including all the flatware. They keep telling me everything was moved from the house and put into a "vault" where I paid over $1000. a month for three years for storage. Moving into the new house three dressers were badly damaged and a priceless marble table top was dropped and broken. The movers were clumsy and banged up all the door frames - the furniture wasn't wrapped or padded which is why it was all damaged. These were young, inexperienced "movers". There is no excuse for this company's ineptitude. read more

I hired them in mid May 2023. These are true professionals, from excellent communication to execution and beyond. One piece had minor damage in the move. But rather than me having to go through hassle of finding someone to fix it and submitting a bill, they took it back to their "shop" and fixed it themselves, then delivered it. This piece is an antique hutch that now looks better than ever ! ROBIN and his team did an excellent job in restoring and fixing it. I had to clear out a storage unit and move some things to another storage, and the rest to my place. The movers themselves were excellent, and very good at communication as well. They did were fast and efficient, and very pleasant to be around. My next move will involve this team of professionals, and I highly recommend them for others. WARNING: Movestar was referred to me by friends who used them many times with positive results. My experience was entirely negative and different My move was estimated at 7-8 hours; it took them 10.25 hours!!!! I moved 1.5 blocks away, from a 2 bedroom condo to another 2 bedroom condo. I had paid for " extra valuation", which I HIGHLY recommend, as it protects you for damage. They broke an antique side table of mine ( which I'm allowing them to repair, after meeting the nicest longtime employee, who does their repairs) as well as they broke off the corner off my highly valued, irreplaceable, antique dining table. I had paid for extra valuation up to $5000, and they were very reluctant in allowing me this proper repair. They repeatedly tried to force me to use their in -house refinisher who came out to see my table, and clearly was not familiar with mid-century antique refinishing. After arguing and pressuring me, they agreed to allow me to use my refinisher ( it is my legal right I was informed by lawyer/friend) who came in with a reasonable estimate ( $850 to refinish entire table), with an understanding that it could go a bit over, I warned them in writing. In the end it went $150 over and they would not pay the difference. I am also having to pay $150 this table (that they damaged), delivered to my house. This is a spotty organization. The one fellow who did truly help , who has worked there a long time, Gus, was an extremely nice guy, but clearly had to act against me at one point , under the pressure of the owner. The other fellow who fixed my side table, Robin, was a gentleman as well. So apologies to both of these guys. They are longtime employees and great guys. It's about the owner's harsh attitudes, that I take issue and warn you against. I would steer clear of this company unless you are fully aware that they are looking to take advantage of you wherever they can. Be prepared. read more

The price was a bit more than we anticipated but as we unpack we find nothing is broke and no damage to furniture. (The hiccup didn't cause any delay, just a slight miscommunication.) Barry and the guys were incredible, and very careful with my things without being too slow. These butt heads give firefighters a bad name!!! I called THREE TIMES for them to give me a quote. Some guy named Jim (I think) kept telling me someone will call me back to make an appointment to come out to see what all I have to move so that the quote would be accurate. It never happened. Exceptional movers. They were able to give me a good quote on my move, and it was accurate, too. They were on time, never stopped moving, and got the job done so fast I hardly had time to keep up. A few things were damaged in the move, as will happen, and they handled the repair/replacement quickly and professionally. My husband I used MoveStar in April and couldn't have been happier; from start to finish. The rep that came over for our initial quote was professional , helpful and offered up good suggestions on how to save a few bucks. We emailed back & forth a few times and he was super responsive each day (and I had lots of questions!). On the day of the actual move, the team of 5 or 6 men showed up on time, were professional, thorough, and just seemed like a bunch of nice guys. The lead crew member introduced himself to use and then the rest of the crew immediately. He was very detailed as he went over our contract and made sure we understood all lines. We had just one truck and lots of stuff - I really wasn't sure how everything was going to fit. They loaded up all our stuff not only like a they were playing a game of Tetris, but securely within the truck. We were moving just less than a mile down the road so we did make two trips - but it seemed like it was no biggie. If there was ever any doubt about what to move or how to move it - they waited to ask us. I completely appreciated that because we could have easily held up the job as my husband and I were in and out of the house. Everyone in the crew spoke clear English so no language confusion between us and them. Great company with superb service. I hope we don't move again anytime soon, but if we do, we'll happily call MoveStar. read more

They were early which is good but I had asked for 30 minutes later so I could get the keys to the new place. So not a big deal but they wouldn't take a few of my items as they said they weren't boxed properly but took my golf clubs that were not in a box . I , also, felt they drug their feet to get more money out of me. I had three movers that took 4 hours for a one bedroom apartment- the last movers had a crew of two and took 2.5 hours and that included a 45 minute drive , so, this was why they did not get a tip . I inly had a few minor damages but they made me sign a waiver before I could look at my stuff - that was the only thing that was fast on the day of the move . read more

Movestar Movers moved me into my new home (from my apartment) about a month ago. They were about average, not bad, not great. The thing is their marketing (including a beautiful logo on their very nice truck) says "owned and operated by off duty fire fighters"....Well...I am as much a firefighter as the four young men who moved me, and I ain't no firefighter! Their prices are approximately 25-30% higher than all the other "cheapo" movers, because maybe they think people will pay more for a fire fighter, or for a beautiful fancy truck...Well, save your money, and call someone who is just as average a moving company FOR A LOT LESS MONEY. What an incredible experience we have had with this excellent company! We have done it all move-wise this year and been so impressed and pleased with their service! First a move across town of the whole house in Plano.....all went as planned, a small problem with a bookcase they handled and paid for a problem, no issues. Then another across town and perfectly done. And finally a multi city move from Plano to Austin to Burnet Tx and all handled efficiently, professionally, and economically!! We have moved no fewer than seven times in the last 17 years and without reservation, MoveStar was the BEST experience we've had. These guys were fast, efficient, careful, polite, and everything else you could possibly imagine. I literally cannot say enough positive about them - you will not be disappointed if you use them for your move. In every single move except this one, we've had items lost or broken, walls and floors gouged and disfigured, hidden charges, late deliveries, and even folks showing up drunk!! No so on this one -- we've become "expert" in finding issues because of being screwed over so many times and we literally could not find a SINGLE ISSUE. No dings. Nothing broken. My wife almost got excited when she couldn't find the "stays" for the bookcase -- she'd found something!! But alas, they were actually bundled up nicely, marked, and taped to the back of the unit. Literally -- no luck in finding a problem. If there were six stars, I would give them six stars. This was the best move we've ever had. read more

We used Movestar for a Dallas to Houston move and it was super easy with their full service. It's a little more costly than some other movers but the quality of service was worth it. We used their packers for the day before who were professional and packed our things very carefully. Didn't lose a single breakable item in the move. The movers were on time and very fast and friendly. There were three movers which kept things going fast. Like I said, it may cost a little more but the level of service was well worth it. read more

I have used Movestar for 4 moves. I can not say enough about the trust level I give these guys. They treat your things gently. While they are not the cheapest company to use, I think that most of the complaints you will see are just that. You won't hear about mishandling of items or showing up late. I would rather pay more than have broken TV's and chipped tables. I've been looking at other reviews because Movestar is booked the weekend I need them. Some of the same men moved me three years ago so they obviously value their employees. They are professional, courteous, and treat your home and possessions with the utmost respect. Beware of this moving company. After a few weeks, we noticed water damage on our brand new kitchen hardwood floor. The refrigerator water line was slowing dripping behind the wall and slowly seeping under the flooring. We learned the movers did not connect the refrigerator water line correctly. My claim was handed to 5 people over 4 weeks. If I didn't contact them I didn't get any communication. Finally I was told Movestar is not responsible for the damage because the contract states they are not responsible for damage during the move and any plumbing damage based on appliance hookups. I purchased insurance only to learn that their moving insurance only covers damaged property which was moved. Therefore, the damages estimated to be around $2000 caused my the Movestar mover incorrectly connecting the refrigerator is now our expense to replace. I would not recommend this moving company unless you're prepared to take the risk of damages at your cost. read more

Movestar moved my dad from senior living to assisted living. Although a small move, they were very professional and very diligent about protecting the items being moved. After having the worst customer service from Movestar's competitor (All My Sons - Dallas), I was skeptical about finding a quality mover. Movestar changed all that. I just needed to move stuff back into the house from a storage unit packed on my driveway. Movestar accommodated my request to move up my move from Sat. to the previous Tues. They communicated well and showed up on time. They charged me what they told me they would (no hidden charges) and the three guys that helped me were fast and courteous! They took care of my home and the stuff they were moving, taking time and talking to each other so they didn't damage anything instead of rushing just to get done. Worked with Lance to get a quote and he was easy to speak with and I felt offered us an honest rate (compared a few quotes to see what my options were). MoveStar was the best price and I felt extremely confident in their ability. These guys took great care of our stuff and were amazing to work with on the day of the move. Super professional and personable. They beat the estimated time, saved me a few bucks all while going beyond what we had expected in moving our items from one place to the next, once inside the home. I will say there were a few marks on the wall but nothing that a little cleaning or a touch-up of paint can't fix. I'd select MoveStar again and again. We just used move star for our move and if i could give 10 stars i would. They were amazing. Not one thing got broken or damaged. They were very professional, strong and very careful. I had many irreplaceable pieces passed down several generations and nothing was damaged. I had heard many horrible reviews on several companies and was beyond worried about the move. No-one who showed up to move me was a former or current firefighter. I placed my items in storage only to find they were using my refrigerator for 9 months in the warehouse! Items were broken and poorly repaired without my permission and some things never found! Out of 15 moves in my lifetime, I can say with accuracy I would NEVER use this moving company again. read more
