THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. John (the alleged owner) quoted us $600 for 1br apt move. A couple guys came and packed up our belongings and drove to our new location. Then they refused to open the truck with our belongings and handed me their phone to talk to John who told me we needed to Zelle him $1,400 (pay upfront more than double the quote) to have them open the truck and finish the move. Icing on the cake- they broke our brand new black&decker air conditioner after dropping it while moving it out of the truck. The guy, Chris, insisted it was only scratched and not internally damaged and refused to pay for it. Hired these clowns to move patio furniture from 9 miles away to a new location. Was quoted 250 to 300. Depending on length of time it would take. Upon the deliver of the outdoor furniture the price went from 250 or 300 to 750 dollars. The entire job would have taken 1 and a half hours. Except that they would not unload the truck until the 750 was paid. The workers said this happens all the time. The movers were very nice and definitely under paid. They make 12.00 per hour and any tips they receive must be turned over to the owner or else. I should have hired 2 college kids rented my own truck and saved hundreds of dollars. Do not use this company. They are professional scammers. Not only did they triple charge us (on what they originally quoted us) and hold our items hostage, but they also damaged our brand new furniture and our brand new washer. It also took them 8+ hours to move us (with 4 of them) even after majority of our items were in the garage ready to go and furniture we already dissembled. In addition to that, they stole our items, including thousands of dollars worth of alcohol left from our wedding. They eventually returned it, but only after I threatened to call the cops. Even then, half of it was missing and the other half was open & consumed. When we told them we would be leaving a bad review, they threatened to sue us because of their "disparagement clause". My recommendation is hire a friend or another company, but whatever you do, do not hire these scammers. read more

I hope this prevents any future victims, but I'm pretty sure www.movesforlessaz.com is a scam. It's a long horrific story and I've got a couple of attorneys on the case. They even try to hide and lie about their reviews. The owner told me his name is Johnny Discount and had quite the strategy to reel me in, and I was told by the staff that this is common, for people to even cry with his threats of police involvement due to his initial false quote, near impossible to understand email written confirmation under someone else's bogus name and so much more. To top it things were stacked horribly and falling, hurting many of my items, damaging my computer, breaking both of my printer wires, my favorite mug my mom gave me an irreplaceable bowl and another bowl. There could be more as I'm still unpacking. When I mentioned this to him after I paid him almost a thousand for my small 1 bedroom apartment move (his quote was $150 first hour and some change and said it would likely only take a couple hours), he said I was the one ripping him off. I've been in so much distress and tears over this. He even used the name of God and pretended to pray for me, knowing I'm a missionary with little income. I pray the Lord has mercy on his soul. John and Chandler were the best. We decided to empty our 2 storage units and take everything to Branson, MO, within 3 days. John was the only person willing to help load on a Sunday with very little notice. His guys showed up on time, were organized, fast, loaded everything and secured very well. Our belongings were undamaged, didn't shift and made the drive whole. We will use them again when we move in June and would recommend them to everyone. read more

Paid total of $2349 for moving a packed 3 bedroom house from Oro Valley to a storage facility in Chandler. Filled the 32 foot truck to the max. I think the cost was too high (probably should have been closer to $1800), but at least we were able to schedule them on short notice. The workers showed up a bit later than expected, and the move took a total of 12 hours, instead of the anticipated 6-8 hrs. My husband and his brother helped load and unload the truck, which saved us some money and time. The 3 guys that did the moving were efficient, careful, and skilled. We tipped them because they did a great job, and it was a long, hot day. I don't know if anything was broken because we won't be unpacking for many months. However, everything is probably reasonably intact, based on the caution they took with the items. The owner made me pay the estimated total before he let the men unload the items into the storage unit, and promised me "they would refund me any excess." Sketchy business, only takes Zelle or money orders for payment (can't pay with check or credit card). Business operates under several different names. Owner/manager Jon Negrete was challenging to work with, and it took several days and multiple contacts to get a refund for the $151 that I had paid in excess. I didn't use their storage facility, but instead I scheduled my own storage units through a different business. I would not hire them again, but I'm glad they got the job done. If I were hiring someone to move my own stuff, I would definitely shop around for a better deal and a more reputable company. However, moving elderly parents is never easy, and I'm glad the ordeal is over with! Hiring movers is always a racket, based on my experience; this is probably because movers do a difficult job that nobody else wants to do. I've never had a 5-star experience with movers, so my expectations are pretty fair. If you do hire them, make sure they don't park in your driveway, because the truck was leaking oil substantially. DO NOT USE! HORRIBLE COMPANY! I hired this company to move a couch, bed and mirror. I was given a quote and a time for pickup. The movers arrived 2 days later than what they told me. When the movers finally arrived, the price was higher than discussed. My belongings were picked up and upon arrival my mirror was shattered. I called the owner to discus the bogus charge and broken mirror, he yelled at me and said "your cheap mirror is not my problem. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy, so PLEASE look at the awful reviews and do not book these movers. It is a scam. They quoted us $750 for a two-bedroom apartment move, and when they had a signature and had packed up our apartment, they almost tripled their price and refused to give us our belongings until we paid $1760. If that wasn't bad enough, they took 15 HOURS in total to move things that we could have moved in four hours. They left our belongings sitting in the stairwell and on different levels of the apartment for hours, and several things, such as our wardrobe and sofa, were damaged and dirty by the time they were done. One of the worst parts was that I was harassed by one of their employees, who was sending me shirtless pictures and walking in circles and singing instead of working, and when I called the owner to calmly explain, because he was nice when we booked the company, he immediately started screaming at the top of his lungs that it "sounded like a personal problem" and that I was a "red flag." He was also screaming at his kids in the same atrocious manner. He is one of the worst people I have met in my life. Marty, the sales guy, was good, followed up and returned my calls quickly. They did not charge extra for moving a piano, or for using shrink wrap, which put them over and above other moving companies I called. Marty recommended getting 120 pads from the truck rental company, and now I know why: if it isn't boxed or wrapped, it will end up damaged somehow. I did not get 120 pads because 1) the truck rental person I spoke with did not agree that I needed that many and 2) it costs quite a bit which I had to pay up front. It wasn't like I could just take as many as I thought I'd need and return the ones I didn't use for no charge. No, my card would have been charged and then refunded later, but who wants that hassle? So, you should probably pony up for all those pads if you decide to use this company. The movers weren't bad guys, but, I think they were in a hurry and a little careless. Our refrigerator, dining table chairs, my hope chest, and TV were all damaged either with scratches or, in the case of my hope chest and TV, broken parts. We had 3 movers and the last 2 of the 4 hours they were at our house, the third guy was mostly standing around. But, kudos to Move For Less, when we told them that was the case, they charged us the 2-man rate for 2 hours instead of the 3-man rate. Additionally, we knew the TV was broken before they left, and broken by their guys. The guys called the main office to tell them, and the management offered to give us another TV. While that was a nice gesture, we were leaving the state the next morning, and it was 7pm. We did not have time to go and pick up a TV. We would have just preferred a price reduction. So, all in all, they were okay. I thought their pricing was fair and competitive. I thought the charge for the 2-man rate was a good solution. But, I am pretty sad that our things ended up damaged in small ways. And, I think the packing of the truck could have been done better so as to prevent those small damages. read more

Scammers!! This company holds your stuff hostage until you pay them far more than what they originally quoted you to move. They told my father they would not give him his stuff until he paid. When my dad questioned why it was all of a sudden a lot more than what they had discussed they told him just to pay it and if it took less time to unload they would refund. When they unloaded in far less time than my dad had paid for he politely said, "so I guess I'm due a refund" and they told him NO. Nope. Absolutely not. No no no!!! These guys have screwed so many people that they should be arrested for prostitution. My clients, like everyone who moves, needed to be out on the day before their home closing. These guys were supposed to show up at 1pm. Every couple hours, they would call and say they would be later. 6:00 p.m. rolls around and they finally tell us they won't be there at all. Wow great, perfect timing so it's late enough where every other business that could possibly help us in a jam is closed. I got very lucky and a company called me back even though it was after their business hours and they took care of us, moving us at 10:30 p.m. at night to make up for these guys' screw up. My client would have been in serious trouble if there wasn't a moving company to save them at the last second. I would get on the rooftop and scream this if I knew everyone would hear me at once, do not use this company, you will regret it 100%. I would not recommend them. I needed something moved quickly from an estate sale, and the reputable companies I tried to hire were booked. I was told on the phone by "Johnny Discount" that it would be 2 hour charge, $119 per hour, $238 plus tax. The dispatcher gave the driver the wrong addresses for pickup AND delivery. When they arrived, they had a bill for $399. They tried to hold my trundle bed until I paid up, I only had $260 in cash. They ended up taking it. I must say the two guys who delivered and put my bed together were very decent, that is why I gave 2 stars. I would never hire the company again, however. read more

This "company" does NOT accept credit cards. John (Martin) Negrete gives a tutorial on how to download and use VELLE so he can be paid in cash, otherwise, your furniture will NOT be unloaded. He charged an outrageous amount for a truck, some packing supplies, and four people he hired off of Craig's List to move our three bedroom w/ patio furniture home 7.6 miles. John arrived in a separate van, accommodating his wheelchair and service dog who was non-tethered and running all over my previous neighbor's property. The dog was a big German Shepard, a sweet girl, but definitely not staying with her master. I assumed John would (with all his self-proclaimed experience) be overseeing the move and expediting how the furniture would be placed in the truck. FAT CHANCE! He left the job and went to pick up his two young children, which he brought BACK to the job. The seven-year-old was pleasant, curious, and on his own enough for my husband and I to feel compelled to babysit, while his father was outside with the younger kid (who was hot and understandably irritable). Seeing these kids flushed from the heat with nothing but my dog's toys to keep them engaged, was incredibly irresponsible and will be addressed to the proper authorities. After a couple of hours, John left with the kids and the dog, and we didn't see him again. Originally, John estimated 3 - 4 hours for the complete move, which actually took 12 hours! The workers he hired from Craig's List were hard working, but would have done much better if they had the proper supervision which John did not supply. Summary: We paid $2,600 dollars to move just under 8 miles, with damaged and broken pieces of art and furniture, and missing a box of brand new vinyl records, and a large jug of coins my husband has been collecting for years. I imagine I should be grateful the damage and theft wasn't worse, but the whole experience has was an expensive lesson, hopefully others can learn from. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I definitely would. This is the shadiest moving company I've ever worked with. I initially called to get a quote for moving a couch and loveseat in town and spoke to "John". "John" said he's been in business for over 40 years and they are accredited by the better business bureau. He quoted $120 all in and they accepted payments through the Zelle app (first red flag). I Agreed and scheduled for Saturday morning. They wanted payment upfront. He then asked if I watched the presidential debate and started to tell me his support for President Trump that I didn't ask for. He said his crew would wear masks despite his support for the POTUS. I then got a call Saturday morning saying they have a "big job" and wouldn't be able to get my job done until 12-1. That time came around and nothing. I called and messaged with "John" all day until finally a dispatcher named Joe said they can do it Sunday morning. Sunday morning came. They show up to get the couches with two guys, a man in a wheelchair and a dog. They then call me saying it's going to cost more money to give us our items that they've already loaded into the truck, ignoring the all in pricing they initially quoted. They now have my items hostage saying it took an hour to load the couch and chair and it would possibly take another two hours to get it to me. That would charge close to $500 for moving two pieces of furniture for a thirty minute drive. They are con artists and purposely have you pay with a debit card through Zelle so you don't get your money back for the scams they run all day long. Once I told them they're not getting anymore of my money, they dropped off the couches at the original location, proceeded to be unprofessional and curse at me over the phone and his dog took a big poop on my friends lawn. Ummm. Almost two years have passed since this incident. No. They DID NOT come back and clean off the driveway. If they cleaned off a driveway, it wasn't mine. The guy didn't even get my address. I was the neighbor of one of your customers. I had a negative experience with your company in August 2015. They trespassed on my property in order to turn their trucks around. Instead of using the driveway of the customer, they drove all over my driveway and my landscaping! They killed three of my Lantana plants by running over them with big trucks! They covered my driveway with large black tire marks! All the way up to the house! (And that driveway is a good 40 feet long! I came home while they were still moving the neighbors in. I walked across the street and kindly asked three of the guys, who were standing in the front yard having a smoke break, to please clean the driveway off! They said they would and then they left without doing so. The next morning the spots were still there. I called the number on the side of the truck from the photo I had taken the night before and asked for a manager. The man I spoke with told me I should get some laundry soap and clean the driveway myself! My opinion is that his response to me was rude. The crew was careless and messy and didn't follow through on a promise they made. My opinion is what I posted on Yelp. It's been 19 months since this happened. They never came back. I never heard from them again. I did end up cleaning my own driveway and replacing the three plants they had run over. My opinion still stands. Less than one star, for not caring, for trespassing and for damaging my property. Maybe I should have pressed charges with the City of Chandler Police Dept., but I didn't. I can appreciate that you may be trying to revitalize a struggling company by asking people to change the negative reviews to positive... maybe you inherited a crappy company and you are trying to fix it. Maybe you weren't working for them when all the bad experiences happened. That's great! After confirming 6 weeks prior, he did not have my move order in his system. I wish we could leave a zero star review. I hired this company through a referral, without checking them out, which was my fatal mistake. I hired them for a fairly straighforward office move that should have taken 4 hours or less with 3 professional movers, which is what I contracted for. The move was to start at 9am and didn't start until 4:00 pm. What I got was 2 guys that I think they picked up as day laborers. 1 worked very hard but was not a professional mover. The other spent the majority of his time on the phone, I found out later trying to find the 3rd person I was promised. They showed up with a contract where they had used white-out tape over the previous persons info, that we refused to sign. They moved all of my stuff out (which took until 9 pm) and I told them I was done for the day and they would have to come and load it into the storage unit the next day. I had to call the PD to get rid of the owner, John, after it took him an additional HOUR to get there with a contract (which I asked him to email me at 4 pm). The next day they didn't start to unload in my storage unit until 11 am, and it was 122 degrees by then. John was there, and demanded payment for the day before, which I paid via Venmo. Throughout that day, he demanded more and more money, but because he was holding my furniture hostage, I had no choice. When all was said and done, I'd paid almost $1400 for a move that should have cost me $400. My furniture is damaged and soiled. Not at all acceptable. I asked him to refund $500 and he, of course, would not. There are many professional moving companies in AZ...this outfit is not one of them. I brought my complaint to the owner, John, who basically said too bad, so sad....so here I am. I wanted them to do the right thing at ANY point in this mess, and I wouldn't have written this review. Absolutely the most worst horrible service I've ever experienced in my life! The movers showed up three hours late and then it took them almost 4 hours to complete a two hour job. The list of items they damaged includes just about every single thing that they moved. Then, I refuse to pay them since there were so many things damaged. The boss, John Negrete insisted that the movers who were two young men wait out front of my house for several hours demanding a check from me. I had to leave for an appointment and he then called the police lying to them that I had locked myself in the house and refused to pay them. I explained to him that once we come up with the list of damages and what the repairs will cost then we could come up with a solution. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. They were HORRIBLE from the very beginning. They showed up an hour late. The movers did not even have my current address or the address I was moving to. They also told me I didn't have to pay for travel charges. Then they charged me an extra hour for "travel charges." They drank all of our water and even poured water over themselves and got all wet while they moved our stuff. And then AFTER we moved one of the guys asked "Do you have anything ELSE to drink". LIKE WATER WASNT ENOUGH?! The movers complained about how hot it was outside constantly. They also reminded us to tip them about 10 times throughout the day. I confirmed with the main guy 3 times "we started at 230 so we have til 530, right?" and they said yes each time. Then at 430 the guy says "We're over time already. As long as you tip us out I won't say anything to my boss about it." I argued with him to no avail. One of the movers stayed in the truck the ENTIRE TIME. My girlfriend and I moved EVERYTHING into our new house and out of the old house. The movers were hardly worth anything. They hardly helped. Both of them took bathroom breaks during the move which is bullshit cause I shouldn't have to pay for that. At the end, they tell me THE CREDIT CARD MACHINE BROKE YOU HAVE TO GO GET CASH. So where do I start? We hired AZ Moves 4 less, had invoices from Discount Mover and had delivery people from Chandler Movers. When we first talked with John Negrete said everything we wanted to hear when we called the first couple times: gave us a deal on the hourly rate, deal on the 4 day storage and would not take our items off the truck during storage. We had 2 days of moving with them - first day was outside stuff and went directly to the new house. Two old men showed up to move our stuff. Guess who pushed them to keep things going? Stuff gets to our house and they demand cash when John said we could pay at the end by check. And the truck leaked oil all over our street. After arguing with John over the phone and the employees in front of new neighbors, they finally take a check. The driver insisted we write the check out to him. NO WAY! Day two and after we complain about the old guys, two young guys show up and pack the semi real tight, promise our stuff will not be removed during the 4 day storage [as well as John promised] and they dont know why the truck was sent previously that leaked oil. Delivery day comes and we were told we could pay by some stupid app that goes right to Johns personal phone number [does the IRS know about this?]. They refused to remove our stuff from the truck until they had cash... ILLEGAL [DOES THE IRS KNOW ABOUT CASH? ] ! Look at your rights! And the truck was not the same as the one we packed, it was the one that leaked oil. John is the worst business man, yelling on the phone at his workers and clients. He's all buddy buddy - "I normally dont take checks but you guys seem ok". We write him two checks to AZ movers and he cant cash them with some bs story that the bank wont cash checks to business? Another lie as we see online that he did cash the checks. This company needs to be reported to the government for so many illegal practices. Should be out of business. One star rating is too good for this rip off company. As we are still living outside of house as we have remodel going on, not sure if all of our boxes were delivered since they were removed from the original truck, or if anything is broken as many boxes were delivered inside upside down. OH yeah, forgot John was charging us 40 minutes driving time for the truck to drive from central Tucson to our house 10 miles outside of central Tucson "according to Google...". Liars, scammers, they over charge from what they quote. Arizona move for less will damage your furniture with no intention of repairing it. Didn't have enough shrink wrap and used mine. They did not use padding on my deceased parents furniture that the owner assured me would be well taken care of. Broke the leg of a very expensive granite top table that I stressed to please be extra careful with. Broke the headboard of my bed and didn't tell me. Did not reassemble my mirrors on my dressers. The owner said he would fix it and it's been over two weeks now and he has done nothing but tell lies and given me the run around. He has hung up in my face a few times. Most of the time, he won't answer my calls. His own employees were talking about how horrible the owner was. I found out that two of the three workers that did my move quit because of the owners lies after my move. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS! You will be sorry, and they do NOT move for less. BEWARE!! A SCAM OF A COMPANY! As if horrendous treatment of my debit card and customer service wasn't enough...Talk about insult to injury. This is my second review, as the first one was (insultingly) responded to by the owner saying I was another moving company posing as a customer to tarnish their reputation. Unfortunately, they have tarnished it themselves as thier one-star rating proves. See my original post 9/22/16 (pasted below). Happy to post each time you try to negate my right to post my experience of your PREDATORY and UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR with more lies. In fact, I think I'll share this on Facebook too. I ended up paying twice as much as the estimate that was given, and my card was ran for additional without authorization. The truck seemed to barely run. They were uncoordinated, and very late. Unfortunately, I had to choose a star. This company deserves no stars. My mother-in-law used this company to move her stuff on 3/30/15. She ordered them to come at 11-1pm time frame.... needless to say it was 8pm and they still did not show up. The movers began to call at 4:30pm to say they were "on their way", it was evident that they weren't if they still had not shown up at 8pm. Save yourself stress (in an already stressful situation) and do not choose this company. They are not cheap, have zero customer service, and still did not get the job done. This was the worst experience I have ever dealt with, and to watch my mother-in-law deal with it was heart-wrenching. I certainly hope they give her the $100 deposit back to end this horrible experience. DO NOT choose this company. read more
