I called around to a few places to receive quotes and AllStar (also owns Frontier Movers) had the best price to customer service ratio. The person I spoke with on the phone to get the quote and book the service was polite and didn't try to oversell me. I booked about 1.5 months in advance and had no issue getting my preferred date. Today the movers arrived. They can arrive between 9-11a and came at exactly 9. Both of the men were polite and careful with all my belongings. They took apart my bed from for me and wrapped some fragile things. They were also very quick. I am a single person that was moving from one unit to another in a large complex (so they loaded everything into the truck and then unloaded it). It took them about 1.5 hours (they charge a 2 hour minimum). Overall, great company. I would use them again and recommend them. read more

So many things got broke and they blamed it on me when it was the driver who tore off outta the parking lot, then slammed on his brakes when he missed the turn to new complex right next door!! The driver was very rude, then when I make a complaint, the OWNER says it's all my fault!! I wasn't the one driving like an idiot!!! I used Allstar Metro Movers in 2010 to move from a second story apartment in Tempe to a third story apartment in Scottsdale. I hired Allstar because they offered lower rates and I noted that they have a good BBB rating, which made me feel comfortable. I did hear some horror stories from other moving companies and through some other review websites, but figured that this might just be competition. In any case, I went ahead with it. The two guys showed up on time and overall did a good job. Again, this was from a second story to a third story. The largest items I had them move were a bed, a couch, a loveseat, and about 10-15 big boxes full of miscellaneous items. They kind of seemed worn out by the end, but who wouldn't be in Arizona and with so many stairs. They did not damage any of my items and were polite. Like I said, overall a good job. It worries me to see the negative ratings, but I feel confident that I would use them again. read more

We have used this company twice. The first time, in 2013, was great, which was why we used them again. Bad decision!!! I have to say, the office staff were wonderful and worthy of 5 stars, but that's where it ends. The two guys that showed up this time were more interested in talking and texting on their phones, and hanging out talking in their trailer than in doing actual work. It literally took them minimum of 6 minutes to move one piece of furniture from a small one story house to their trailer out front. After each piece of furniture, they then SAT down or kicked back!! Of course I had to pay by the hour... I called the office and was out through to the owner Joan. She actually started getting mad at me on the phone when I said I was concerned that my phone call would cause the movers to get mad and damage my furniture. She was extremely hostile and not customer service oriented at all. The movers refused to protect my furniture with plastic wrap or pads. Consequently my $5000 bedroom set has gouges, scrapes, and scratches all over it. This set has made it through 2 other moves without a scratch. Despite all of this, we actually provided lunch to the guys as well. When they got to the new house, they put 3 large holes in the walls and ceiling. We pointed it out and the driver called Joan again who told him what the process was. I was told it would be taken care of, and have called the company multiple times with no luck. So I'm stuck now potentially losing money on my rental deposit because of this company. It took these clowns over 6 hours to move what other movers have done in less than 4. At $80/ hr, that adds up! Finally they movers REFUSED to bring my entertainment center up into my living room! We have a split house with the living room upstairs. The guys said the entertainment center was too heavy and they couldn't do it. So I had to spend hundreds on a new center and my old one is down in my garage. Stay away from this company!!!! Since Doug chose to respond to my first review, it's only fair that I add a bit more as well. I don't think that a full-scale debate about what went down is going to be very useful. Is it possible that I misunderstood the instructions that were given to me over the phone? Absolutely. But I contend that it is the responsibility of the vendor to explain exactly what's included in the price, especially in a complicated transaction such as this one. There's only one claim that Doug makes that I need to respond to, just because it's an egregious lie. At no point did I ever threaten to not pay for any of the service. Frankly, this would have been ridiculous and illogical of me to do. The conversation with Doug took place at the beginning of the day, and I was clearly in need of the moving service. Why would I threaten to not pay when the movers could just pull out of the deal (as he threatened to do) and leave me stranded? Ultimately there are two sides to every story, and you, Yelp reader, will have to determine which side you believe. In the end there are many moving services out there run by ethical men and women. Whether you believe my story or not, is it worth it to do business with someone that MAY have treated a customer this way? This wasn't about the extra few bucks Doug stood to make from selling me paper and bubble wrap. It was about how he treated a customer. I have never wanted to rate anything less than one star before, but if I could, I would for this company. Being in the customer service industry I know what exceptional service looks like. This company was probably the worst customer service experience I have ever had. The manager was demeaning, condescending, and argumentative. Further signifying your roll as a complete scam. Thanks for making it public. Simple fact is your policy was clearly stated as being refundable, which was told to me on the phone by your employee working the phones. I call back two days later when I was never contacted by your manager, and this egotistical female that works there with an attitude problem, throws a 12 year old temper tantrum on the phone, refusing my refund. You're a scam, simple as that. You say one thing and do another. I've made it my personal mission to post this on every single review site and spread it throughout many friends. You've lost thousands by screwing me over a measly $85. How's that sound? This Allstar Metro Movers place is a scam. I set up a moving date a month in advance, just for loading. I paid an $85 deposit and had everything set up. Things changed and I needed to cancel my service, so I called them up, had it cancelled and was told the manager would call me back to set up my refund. Few days go by and I don't receive a call, so I called back. The women I talk to then proceeds to tell me that my appointment was never cancelled and that I am "still on the board" ok. So I tell her I would like to cancel, so she cancels it, and then tells me my deposit is NON REFUNDABLE... This is a flat out scam, because at no time was I told it was non refundable, and the women the day before told me it was refundable. So after a few minutes of lies and scams, I then tell her I will just keep the appointment, as I am already paying for it, I might as well use it. Then get this, she tells me NO, the appointment has already been cancelled! WTF? So yeah, I am out $85 because of this scam company. Do yourself a favor and just avoid this place. There are tons of other moving services that don't require deposits, let alone LIE about it to a repeat customer. I've used them in the past, but I think they had a management/staff rehaul, because they have a few new policies that weren't in place before. This was our first and last experience with Allstar Metro Movers, LLC. We were completely dissatisfied with the customer service and the contractors they hired. First, it's important to note that this company subcontracts out the work and provides the moving trailers. At least in our case, the owners weren't doing the work themselves, and the people they hired were not professional movers with lots of moving experience. Some of the men assigned were doing this until they could find work in their professions (construction). We hired four movers and two moving trucks. While the movers seemed like nice fellows, they caused some damage. One mover in particular kept dropping things and scratched our stone flooring while moving some furniture. He denied he scratched it. He also dropped and broke a shelving unit and dropped a box of glass candle holders (they didn't break). He wasn't apologetic even though we watched him do all this. The movers' boots and moving equipment also dirtied our berber carpet. And our black dresser arrived at our new home with small chips and scratched up. We didn't notice this until after they left. We also believed they used the drive time (which we were paying for) to stop for lunch. They drove to our new location (about 35 miles away) 20 minutes before we left, which mean they would get there first. They didn't show until 30 minutes AFTER we arrived at our new place. It looked like one guy was putting away a drink and some wrappers before stepping out of his vehicle. Even through all this, we were calm and excused their mistakes/errors. Most of the men were working hard and seemed nice. And we just wanted it to be over. But then it came time to pay. We had confirmed the amount with the office twice and OK'd a confirmation e-mail before the work started so we knew how much it would cost us. Yet the bill had an added 3.5% charge. They neglected to tell us that they amount they quoted was contingent on a CASH payment. If we had known, we would have been happy to have cash ready, but they made no mention of it. When we called the main office to ask, they said it was in the contract. Sigh. Couldn't they just have mentioned in our THREE communications with the company that the quote was for a cash payment? The charge wasn't much, but it was the principal of the matter. When we explained this to the person over the phone, she didn't care and refused to waive the fee. She was extremely rude. The terrible customer service and sneaky fee was the cherry on top a terrible moving experience. While we are very thankful not more damage was done, we were deeply dissatisfied with the service. read more

Used this mover for a move from an two-bedroom apartment in North Scottsdale to a new (larger) two-bedroom apartment in Uptown Phoenix. Everything went smoothly. Here's the details... I had "staged" my place in Scottsdale with furniture moved away from the walls and drawers emptied, paintings/mirrors/wall art was all placed in one specific area, and all of my boxes were packed, labeled, and well-sealed. I was trying to keep the movers for as short a period of time as possible, trying to save myself a little MONEY! Movers appeared as scheduled, on time, and ready to work, I poured them a mug of coffee and spoke to them about what was there, what items were fragile, and where my new place was located and the easiest route to get there. They asked if I would like to check items off the manifest when we got to the new place, which I was happy to do. After 5 minutes of coffee break, they were in 5th gear hauling my belongings out and into a larger trailer. When we arrived at the new apartment (which was on the second floor) they humped all of my crap quickly upstairs and into the new place - they even worked with me when I found the triple dresser in the bedroom didn't fit along the wall where I had originally planned for it to reside. Nothing was broken, nothing was missing, very polite and hard-working guys, and fair/reasonably priced. I think that I tipped the guys well for their hard work. Yes, folks - you can/should TIP the movers. Some people don't - I think they're providing a service and if they do a great job, tipping is in order! Really pleased with their services. read more

I love, love, love this company! They moved me from my old apartment to my condo in lightning fast time. Sebastian and the other mover, can't remember his name, were outstanding. They were very polite and careful with my stuff. A couple of years ago I used a different company and almost when broke paying the extra charges that they added on. I paid extra for moving some large furniture pieces, extra because there were stairs, extra for shrink wrapping that I didn't ask for and a $110.00 fuel surcharge. Allstar Metro Movers did an outstanding job with our move from Scottsdale to Tucson. Lynette was my first contact to get a quote and she was very fast, accurate and accommodating. We had a 4 foot by 6 foot oil painting that needed to be boxed for storage and she said they could do it and did do it. We had to cancel the first moving date because our house sale fell through and then the second moving date had to be moved up by a day with only 2 days notice (I spoke to Lynette on Christmas eve to change our move from 12/27 to 12/26) and she was able to make the schedule changes without any extra charges. Donald and Garett did an outstanding job packing the moving truck, protecting our furniture, boxing our oil painting and unloading the contents into a storage locker. Donald and Garett were very professional and fast, they had all of the necessary equipment to protect and secure our household contents in their carpet lined truck for the drive to Tucson from Scottsdale. I went with these guys because when I was called for a quote I got a better feeling from talking to Doug than I did from other companies. They were also more reasonably priced for moving on a weekend than others. On the moving day, The crew called me at 930 and asked if it was okay if they started a little early, 10, we were originally scheduled between 11-1. We were pretty much done packing and said that was fine. They were pleasant to deal with. One piece of furniture was broken, but it was particle board from ikea, I figured it was bound to happen because it's already been moved 3 times. They apologized. I was able to fix it with a couple of nails. Moving a two bedroom apt to a three bedroom home only took about 2.5 hours I believe. They were all amazing. read more

I don't even know where to begin singing All Star Movers' praises. This is the second move in 30 days, and both times they were amazing. From the initial contact with Lynn in the office to wrapping it up a half hour ago, it was an awesome experience, and how many time has moving been described as awesome? Zero to none. On the first move, Lynn sent Don and Kevin. Ask for them, they are two really great guys and a really great team together. I enjoyed working with them so much, I requested them for the second move. They were quick, efficient, professional, and the way they packed the storage unit is a thing of beauty. When I looked inside after they were done, angels sang. And to top it all off, the price was more than reasonable for the quality of the work and the time in which they completed the job. Very disappointed with the movers. Over 3 hours to move from a storage unit to a 2 bedroom apartment less than 5 miles apart. Left storage after 25 minutes. Once at apartment.. They literally brought up one queen mattress & 3 couch cushions in first 24 minutes and one item every 5 minutes. They milked the clock and didn't hustle until they hit the 3 hour mark. Debit machine didn't work & had to go to the bank with these guys to withdraw $260. My son and I have moved several times and never took that long. I didn't complain as it would have upset my son who is recovering from lung surgery and the reason we hired movers. Felt bamboozled.. I even tipped them- for son's benefit only. read more

Unfortunately, I have had to move three times in the past three years due to some of the conditions that go with apartment living. All three times I have used All Star Movers and each time they have been fast and friendly. I recently had a minor knee injury and couldn't help that much. This last time was the best of all, not only were they fast and efficient, they had my back! I live by myself and don't have anyone reliable to help me move. They went through the apartment and helped to make sure I didn't leave anything by simply pointing out stuff to me that I may have left. I called the top business, but they were booked. :( I called Allstar because there were two decent reviews on this company, and were in the top ten rated by the yelp community. On moving day, they called to tell me they were on their way and showed up on time. The two guys moved my furniture from my 2 bedroom apartment to a house 6 miles away in 2.5 hours. On a day it hit 111, they were courteous, helpful, and everything arrived without any problem. I am happy to recommend this company to move. It's stressful moving, but these guys helped me out in a pinch, and were very reasonable with their rates. read more

RESPONSE TO DOUG W. 1. The 700 dollar upfront demanded was NOT from your company. Perhaps you should learn to read more closely. 2. The apartment did not have cat feces anywhere but in the litter boxes. There was no area of the apartment that was 6 inches thick with hair or dust. I have no doubt that under the bed there was dust bunnies that could have taken on lives of their own...that is where one cat would hide when people came over...but alas, it was just cat hair and therefore not alive and flying about the place. Perhaps the ceiling fans you zonies use in 109 degree weather caused some hair to fly around? Keep in mind Doug is saying this without actually having seen the place. NO OTHER MOVING COMPANY REFUSED TO PERFORM SERVICE. ALLSTAR refused to do their job on Thursday morning and BANNISTER gladly did their job on Friday. Doug, as my sister and I did not return to the apartment until Friday to meet the movers, when did this other company show up to refuse service? The company that did move her on Friday evening the 31st laughed at Allstar's actions and then said, "well, we are here to do our jobs...where do we start." One of the movers actually did claim to have asthma and smoked...he did not cough once during the move. The load in at the apartment took 1.5 hours and load out at the new house was about the same. It did not take a hazmat team to clean the apartment when all the furniture was gone...my sister and I took care of the carpet and floors ourselves on Saturday and the apartment complex was satisfied with the job we did since they really only wanted us to make it easier for them to replace the carpets after 10 years. I did not say the place was clean, but it was NOT a health hazard. The place was not a methlab, your employee did not exhibit ANY signs of asthma while in my presence...no cough, no wheezing, no shortness of breath. Plain and simple, your guys did not want to do the job and your company's actions where not professional. How stupid of you to say that you would gladly return once the place was made safe for you to do so...she was MOVING...an activity characterized by deadlines and specific dates...so yes we had to contact SRP and have the power TURNED BACK ON...yes we had to pay for extra days in the apartment. You were hired to do a job and you didn't do it. Luckily we did find a company who did do their job and I am sure the 2 guys who moved her appreciated their 80 dollar tip. And I am not lying about that...my sister knew the task to move her would not be easy because of the dust and hair and her many boxes of books. But Bannister movers did their job without a problem, laughed at Allstar, were really friendly guys and their rates are lower. read more

I AGREE - DO NOT USE THEM!! Even though they didn't arrive on-site until 7:51 am, they started charging me at 7:30. When I questioned Jan Whitson, the Owner/CEO, she said they round down to the nearest half hour when starting and round up to the nearest half hour at the end of the move. If the movers arrive any time before 8:00 am for example, you will be charged for the half hour starting at 7:30. If they finish at 11:31, you will be charged until noon - "that's just the way it is" according to Whitson. She had a real attitude when I disagreed with some of the things she said. Her response, when I told her about a damaged table top was "well, accidents happen." Gee, thanks Ms. Moving Professional. The drivers also took frequent breaks, and loaded the truck very slowly - one of them took a smoke nearly every time he took an item out to the truck. Whitson said "I've spoken to him and it won't happen in the future." Well that made me feel so much better that I got to pay for his smoke breaks but the next customer apparently won't. At five minutes each, that's also time you'll be paying for without any work. Mine was the only scheduled move that day and it was pretty apparent they were padding their time. It's interesting to note a quote from Ms. Whitson on Allstar's website: "Our superior record is thanks to our customer service specialists and full-time experienced, professional movers who are committed to always providing the best service possible." The movers that showed up had a sign on their truck that said they were CONTRACTED to work with AllStar - not even full-time employees, and hardly professional. The lesson there is, don't believe everything you read. My next complaint goes to the Better Business Bureau and the Department of Labor. Look anywhere else for movers - this one's terrible!! I was extremely impressed with the movers and how quick and efficient they were in loading and unloading our household goods. The total move from loading to unloading took only four hours and what's more important no items were damaged or scratched during the move. I hired Allstar due to the reviews I'd seen on Yelp and other places. This was the most disastrous move I've ever had and I've moved several times over the years. I was promised 3 men and a "specialized" truck. I received one great mover, thank you Omar!,and 2 older men who were well beyond their moving years including one who had a bad back. The "specialized" truck was a pick-up truck with a trailer. I was moving from north Scottsdale to Desert Mountain area. I was moving to a home with a dirt driveway. Needless to say the truck did not make it up the drive way. In order to be finished before the following day, the move required my 3 teenage boys and my husband to finish unloading the truck. On the way out of the drive-way, the truck took out a tree and several feet of brush because the truck was not the vehicle for the job. When I reserved the truck, I informed Allstar that they were delivering on a dirt driveway. The very next day, St Vincent De Paul picked up several items and did not have ANY trouble getting up our driveway. I would have been more understanding had the owner "Jan" been more understanding and done ANYthing at all to make the situation better. She was rude, and did nothing but threaten me regarding payment to alleviate the situation. I do not like to give negative reviews, but this was a terrible situation and I hope that I can prevent anyone from having the experience I have had. read more

First off I'd like to say the movers were extremely nice and polite and I do feel bad giving them 2 stars but I am so unhappy with the result. So I know things may get broken during a move, however I've moved multiple times without a professional moving company and not once ever had stuff break. I'm so upset because our dresser is broken and the drawers don't close on one side, a box had a broken candle fixture, 1 night stand drawer won't shut at all and lots of scuffed furniture. I don't think they wrapped or protected anything. Furniture isn't cheap and everything was fairly new and great condition and now looks like junk that needs to be replaced. I'm so annoyed and extremely frustrated that we paid so much money and now we have to pay even more money to purchase a new dresser and hope to fix the nightstand. We haven't finished unpacking to assess anymore damage, but I am not satisfied whatsoever and will not use again. We did tip them because like I said they were very polite and worked hard, but they also took over 8 hours to finish the move and I felt they weren't moving as fast to unload/load. So unhappy with the result. The only good thing is our stuff got from one house to the next. read more

Today is my moving day & I was schedulded to be moved @ 8:00am. No one called me to confirm my move the day prior, as they had the wrong phone #: Go figure. Then we had to call them this morning to find out our move has been moved to 1:00 to 3:00 pm today. On top of it, I had a babysitter set up at 7:30am. I also had my dog taken to the groomers @ 7:00am. I have 18 items that need to be moved, I have moved 90% of it. I have a few things that I am not able to lift myself, so I chose to hire Allstar Metro Movers: WHAT A MISTAKE! I now receive a phone call at 12:00 pm & speak with the owner (Female), who has no idea how to operate a business. Telling us now we have been moved back to 4:00 pm. I have to be out of my Apartment by 5:00 pm & have to turn in my keys. It does not look as if this is going to happen. So I asked the owner for a discount, she flat out said NO. She is rude & has no idea on how to operate a business or speak to their customers. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND LOOKING ELSEWHERE, UNLESS YOU WANT TO GO THROUGH THE SAME NIGHTMARE THAT I AM GOING THROUGH. Great initial customer service, friendly movers and pretty solid follow up for the damaged caused however not worth what we went through for the pricing. Four pieces of damaged furniture, too many smoke breaks and a little weak on professionalism. Make sure you understand, it was four pieces of damaged furniture. One desk, one sewing table, one patio table and one entertainment center. I was refunded $50, nice gesture but it should have never happened in the first place. Lastly, they offered to reassemble my master king bed which was very nice and I of course excepted. The bed collapsed one month after the move during our sleep. REALLY? I went back and forth with Doug until he stopped emailing me all together. So make it five pieces now. He did offer to have the mover Mike (very nice guy) come out and fix the broken bed. The damage is beyond fixing, nice gesture however. For us its too much damage in one short distance move. Again, it just shouldn't have happened in the first place. I wouldn't say don't use this moving company but I certainly wouldn't recommend them with all the other companies available. read more
