Only leaving one star because zero stars isn't an option. Currently laying here in a 1st floor room unable to sleep due to all the extracurricular noises. The walls are paper thin and we can hear the upstairs tv blasting, the bath water going on and off, and the kids running around like a heard of elephants. We complained, and were told quiet hours start at 10pm. It's now 11 pm and nothing has changed. There's also a weird humming noise coming from somewhere... sounds like a vacuum running or maybe a generator, not sure. It goes for about 5 seconds, then stops. It goes off about every 15 minutes. It's decorated super cute, and the location is great, so that's a plus. We thought this place would be a nice break in the middle of our Yellowstone/ Teton van-life vaca, but we're now regretting our decision, and considering sleeping in the van, in the parking lot. Save your money.. or spend your money elsewhere. This is the worse place we've ever stayed at, and by far, the worst part of our vacation. read more

I'd give it 4 stars for what it is. It's obviously not a luxury hotel, but a good option. My room was on the second floor by the street and I could hear street noise, but it wasn't too bad. The room was decorated in a cute rustic way and it was clean. The only window my room had was off the walkway, so if you want natural light, you sacrifice privacy. It's a pretty quick walk downtown, so the location worked for me. I was a little annoyed that they gave me late checkout, but then my key didn't work after the regular checkout time. read more

I would love to leave a favorable review for what is actually a pretty smartly redone former motor inn...But in my 4 nights here, I have not once been able to sleep through the night due to noise. Whether it's the 3am and then again at 5am dumpster pickups....the upstairs neighbors who sound like they're doing a rain dance at 2am...groups of skier bros hanging out in the parking lot drinking and smoking at all hours...or just people slamming their doors in the general vicinity--this is not a place where you are actually able to rest. This hotel was renovated with a rustic ski hostel aesthetic and has a lot of cute touches. Beds are comfortable, and walls decorated inventively with National park maps. BUT -this is a big But - the problem is scale and proportion. If you are under 6 ft+ it's difficult to reach things like the soap dispenser or the shower, which is mounted 10 feet up the wall so that by the time you need it to rinse your hair it is like a very gentle rain. First floor room and heard the person upstairs tap dancing at 4:30 am. Asked for a white noise machine for the second night--these should be standard in the rooms next to the Highway. I absolutely loved the aesthetic of this hotel. It reminded me a lot of one of my favorite hotels, The Coachman in South Lake Tahoe, CA. It seems like so much thought was put into all of the finishing touches. From the raw and rustic materials to the unique map wallpaper of the surrounding areas down to the luxurious malin and goetz soap! I couldn't have designed it better myself! We happened upon a room with bunks given our last minute booking which I think is incredibly efficient and would have been perfect for kids! I look forward to coming back and staying here again! Nice remodeled hotel close to downtown. Yes there was a slight musty smell from the Carpets but I can only imagine it's from constantly cleaning them because of the grungy backpackers and skiers that are trampling over them all year long. We were some of those grungy backpackers. We had been out for three days in the backcountry when we checked in. Staff were nice and accommodating. read more

Several people came after me to order, and I guess the lady got distracted and never made my latte. Unique hotel in a good location. The staff is friendly and the rooms are nice for the most part, including the furniture, beds, decor, etc. Now for the criticisms: the walls are paper thin, the parking is insufficient and the water temperature in our shower fluctuated from cool to scalding hot. If you have a noisy neighbor, you won't get a wink of sleep and may, like me, be tempted to kick down their door and strangle them until their faces turn blue. Only three stars because the main point of securing a hotel room is, you know, to have a place to SLEEP. They really need to work on soundproofing the rooms better. This is a fatal flaw. read more

We were told to leave because we were just complaining about the loud power washers. I am an admitted/confessed germaphobe even before covid. I always bring and wipe down all surfaces with Clorox & alcohol wipes upon check-in. Usually at hotels the wipes would come away somewhat to a lot dirty. So, I was pleasantly surprised to find...absolutely nothing! Every surface, bathroom, kitchen area, seating area were immaculate. Very nice place to stay. Room was clean and staff was nice. Over all quiet. Kerig for coffee. They didn't have much for breakfast options. The only reasons they didn't get 4 stars- the mattresses were worn out!!! They were low to the ground and so soft you could hardly turn over during the night. Since the main reason you get a motel is to get a good nights sleep it was a big disappointment. The other negative is trivial but the pool and hot tub were nice.....you are surrounded on every wall with "NO's". It was overwhelming and a downer. They have obviously had problems with rowdy guests. All in all it was an OK place. read more

My wife got pregant and the doctor forbade her from travelling long distances. I had to cancel the reservation. The reserve was set to the end of september. Hotels.com told me that the hotel was the responsible for autorising any refund to the customer. Talked to someone of the hotel in the chat they have in their website. This person told me that hotels.com should decide about the request for refund. In the meanwhile hotels.com sent me another email to tell me that the hotel declined my request for a refund. So, I sent an email to the hotel and until this day I didn't get any response. I'm in very exceptional situation and I don't think it's fair that the hotel, two months before the period booked, won't have approved my refund. read more

One of the worst nights sleep I've had at a hotel. The walls are thin and I can hear every step taken in the room above mine. It's loud enough to be jarring, not just annoying. It's so loud, it's almost funny. I was woken up multiple times from 11PM onwards and barely slept. I read some of the negative reviews before booking and figured people were just being complainers. I'm not that picky and figured it'd be fine. But, now I've experienced first hand how loud this place can be. You're at the mercy of whoever is around or above you. If you are on a nice vacation, don't risk having a bad night by staying here. I'm kicking myself for picking this motel because we were having such a great time until trying to sleep here. The rooms are cute, and the location is good, but it's not worth it if you can't sleep and every footstep feels and sounds like a mini earthquake. read more

We stayed here as part of a Trafalgar tour.......was not impressed. First of all it is a motel behind a restaurant so we were looking at dumpsters from our room. The lobby which serves breakfast everyday is very small and not equipped for a tour group plus the other people who were staying there . At 4:30 AM...everyday....the dumpsters were emptied.....awful, very noisy in what a terrible hour. I have told Trafalgar in our review not to use this motel again......no one in our tour was happy at all. The rooms were clean but the beds were extremely uncomfortable....for everyone, not just us. It was not a pleasant way to start our tour. I would never recommend this motel. read more

This is a super trendy newly renovated hotel. It was one of the better priced options in Jackson, so quite a deal. Room was clean and well equipped. Very nice sink/kitchenette area with lots of space for all of your stuff. Loved the word search chalkboard that they had on the wall. Very fun!! It is not in the middle of town, where all of the action is, but there are multiple options for dining and shopping nearby. We chose a great BBQ place that was about half a block to walk to. They also have a little cafe in the reservations office. We did not use the pool, but it was indoors and looked very popular. Parking is the rough bit. Real estate is at a premium in this little village, so you might have to trek a bit to find a parking spot. Fortunately we had a room near the drive to the back lot, so we could unload there. It was during a slower part of the season, so you might not have the opportunity. read more

I'm not sure why Modern Mountain Hotel doesnt have more raving reviews (on other review sites as well). My fiance and I stayed here over the summer and it was probably one of the best prices (cheaper than a motel 6) during high season. They were centrally located where we can walk to numerous restaurants which meant we didn't have to move our car too much. Their rooms were updated, clean, and exactly what I expect from a boutique hotel. They have a pool and hot tub which was a nice way to end your day after a hike. I definitely suggest snagging a room here, you won't regret it! read more

BED BUGS!!!! Our stay here seemed wonderful until my husband started get bites on his body each night while he slept. They only had a room with 2 queen beds left so we ended up in separate beds. We had no idea that the he had bed bug bites since we had never experienced anything like that before. However, the itching was unbearable and once he received medical attention we found out he had been bitten by bed bugs on his stomach, back and arm over the course of our stay. We reached out to management who told us he looked and didn't see anything and that there would be blood on the sheets if that had really happened. This was two days after the room had been cleaned and after we had reported it to the front desk. He then told us if we were hiking it was probably mosquito bites. We live in Texas and know mosquito bites don't last that long and I believe that medical professionals know the difference. We also wore long sleeved shirts, pants and covered ourselves in Deep Woods Off. Just be aware if you stay here that they don't seem to care and this could be the start of an infestation. We were in room 345. BUYER BEWARE. read more

Horrible. Our room faced a wall and between our room and the wall was a busy corridor where people were constantly, noisily passing by. And just beyond that wall was the kitchen of an adjacent restaurant where we could hear people washing dishes, playing loud music and joking around until late into the night. On top of all that, the unit above ours had VERY squeaky floors. This place is like a morel 6 that has been dressed up to appear like a respectable hotel and charge like the Ritz (literally!). This is a decent looking hotel with good rooms. BUT if you would like anything approaching decent guest service from the staff, look elsewhere. For nearly $800 (2 nights) one would think someone at the MMM might actually care about the guest experience. Folks here act annoyed when you want a simple restaurant recommendation. I can't imagine actually asking for something significant. I won't waste my time writing a long review. I tried to provide feedback at the end of the stay, but when I mentioned that it was easily the worst guest service we experienced on a 2,500 mile road trip across multiple states, all the woman at the front desk said was an apathetic "sorry". No questions. No follow-up. I guess when you're booked to capacity and charging high rates, there is no need to care. We stayed for a few days over New Year's and found the 2 BR suite comfortable and well designed. It's simple and utilitarian, with an IKEA vibe. For the price (still not cheap, to be clear) and central location it was what we were looking for. The ski shuttle is convenient, the outdoor hot tub is pleasant, and the cafe is cute and cozy even though the food is pretty mid. In our room there was a broken door with exposed screws that could have ruined an expensive ski jacket if one walked too closely, so some maintenance is in order. We cut our visit short by a few days to go to Targhee and they accommodated us. Now at the end of the week our flight out was canceled and we find ourselves stuck in Jackson for two days longer than anticipated, and back at Mountain Modern. This time we're in a 2-queen/bunkbed room. Unlike the 2nd-floor suite, this ground-floor room is noisy from the neighbors above and lacks natural light, and the showerhead needs to be replaced. Still, it's comfortable enough. It's a motel experience to be sure, nothing fancy, but fun and thoughtfully remodeled. read more

We stayed in a double queen. The rooms are spacious, clean with unique touches that are practical and efficient. Plenty of space to put your gear and luggage. Big sink outside the bathroom with a spacious counter. Mini fridge and microwave with coffee mugs hanging on hooks and more counter space, hooks to hang jackets on wall too. They utilized the wall space! WiFi was good. Nice TV with ample channels but our last day reception was very poor. There is an indoor pool but my husband tried to use it twice but was closed for maintenance! They have a small coffee shop in lobby. The bathroom is small which is not a big deal but exhaust fan goes on every time you turn the light on and it is LOUD which is a problem if you get up in the middle of the night. The bed is on the soft side. The shower was frustrating as it was either to hot or ice cold and only one exact location where it was comfortable and this search wasted a lot of water! We had no noise issues as some people complained about and probably depends where your room is located. The location is excellent in Jackson on Broadway just a few minute walk to the square. There's also some restaurants, gas station/convenient store close by that are not in the square which was a bonus because of less crowds. This is a great alternative for people who don't want to stay in hectic Jackson Square, easy drive in and out. I really appreciated Stephanie's help when I called about the online rate. She handled my situation fast without any resistance. BTW some people complain there's not enough parking but there is plenty and the front desk told us about the additional parking but we never had a problem getting a spot right by our room. Even though we had some negatives I would definitely stay here again. read more

On a positive note, the rooms are really decorated cute. However the rooms are very noisy, weather you are close to Broadway, or near the back behind the restaurant. I parked and went out to run a quick errand, when I came back there was literally not one parking space and I ended up parking on the street. For $280/night, I was at least hoping for a spot. When I called to complain to the manager, he told me I could park by the restaurant, but there are signs up everywhere that says restaurant parking only. I think they were trying to put lipstick on a pig with this one, and I'm sure there are better places to say in Jackson, WY. I won't be staying here again. read more

Don't let the price fool you. This place is a Motel 6 with a nice sign and absurd prices. So much to dislike. First, the good. The beds were comfortable and the rooM was "cute." And they had vacancy. The end. The fridge and whole "kitchen" had no power because the GFCI switch had been tripped so once we located that in the heat supply area, we got to power up the warm fridge, which is in the "kitchen" which is also the bathroom. One sink for both. Gross. Walls are paper thin and it sounded like we were in the room under a Stomp rehearsal all night and early morning. Parking is inadequate. We arrived to this hotel at 9:30 pm to check in after traveling with 3 young kids. When we reported to the staff the people in the room next to use were using marijuana they offered us a refund and stated they wouldn't do anything about it. Even after police were notified, finding marijuana in the room and the guest receiving a citation, the staff refused to remove the occupant. I had to move my family to another hotel at 11 pm. We have a 6, 7 and 9 year old and were staying with the rest of our young hockey team and this hotel allowed an occupant using drugs to remain while we had to move to a new hotel, to protect our children from exposure to drugs. Let me start by saying I still feel like crap from my last morning at this hotel. I'm hoping to snap out of it as we move on further west. So, what's the problem? You hear everyone's bs! Noise, noise, noise. Kids dragging their bags, banging on the walls, steps on the floor. We could hear the people next to us converse in the morning. The front desk called last night over a tv complaint. The walls are thin! The hotel looks great, price was reasonable. But not being able to sleep sucks! The old style heater really gets the room too warm. We just turned it off after the first night. And also ran the shower fan as a means to have steady background noise. That didn't exactly help. Another thing the do not disturb signs are archaic. Either a prankster removes them or the wind blows them away. We did see one in the street. The first morning house keeping came in three times. Nice bed, looks cool, great products What you have to do here is beat the crowd. Get up before everyone else. Try 5:30. I came here for vacation and I want sleep. read more

Good location just a few blocks from Jackson Square. Rooms were clean and updated, bathroom was a little dingy. Really liked all the space/hooks/shelves to store luggage and gear. Rooms had a microwave and large sink area. Our A/C worked great until we turned it up a few degrees to make it warmer and then we could never get it cold again which was a bummer because the heavy (albeit comfortable) bedding was definitely more appropriate for winter months. Woke up super hot at night. There's an indoor pool and hot tub which was relaxing. There's no elevator so careful if you have large/heavy luggage. Overall a good stay. read more
