Lovely little hotel at the end of the town square. It's one of the first things you see when you arrive in Jackson Hole. Everything during our stay was great. Beds were comfortable, shower had great pressure, the only thing off was the view. One side of the building overlooks a lot that had construction and building materials so we didn't really have a good "view". The front units have a view of the town square and Snow King. They do offer free coffee and have coffee drinks for sale in the lobby. They have s'mores and cider during the winter evenings. Also on the backside of the property is one of the best restaurants in JH-Glorietta. Definitely make a reservation there as soon as you can/ahead of your arrival. It's within steps of the hotel so you can walk right over. We had an amazing meal there. Highly recommend! Overall great place and would stay again! read more

This is a great remodel of an old spot. From the looks and configuration of my room it looks like they moved a few interior walls around. The color palette of the room is dark, so as far as I could tell, everything was pretty clean. I do have two complaints. One is that the parquet floors were a little creaky and a few squares seem to be loose and prying away. Two, the walls facing the street and near the exterior stairways are thin. We could loudly hear people trudging upstairs in the wee early morning hours. If you're not rebuilding, I'd use heavier finish materials to deaden the sound. We had fantastic service from the front desk. Dalton, I think was his name, was SO helpful and friendly! I believe the front desk is only open from 7 am to 10 pm. After 10, you must call security for any help. Parking is slim pickings BUT you are allowed to park on any one of their properties which are a short walk through an alley away. We stayed tow nights and the location of this hotel was perfect. We appreciated the text messages that asked if we needed anything and the friendly staff. We also liked the parking nearby and the restaurant next door. The hotel can be upgraded to make itself even better. Glass shower divider vs an actual shower curtain and a quieter AC unit would be great. Also adding smart TVs would have been a ++ . If you plan on being out and about throughout the day, this is a good landing spot, it meets all the basic needs and is convenient. read more

I've stayed at the Anvil several times in all four seasons. The good. The location is fantastic right in downtown Jackson. They allow early check ins. They have a cutesy gift shop in the lobby. The not so good. It's very poorly maintained. Faucets or showers drip all night. The parquet floors are cracked and coming apart. Sometimes the electric heaters don't work at all, making it very cold in the room or bathroom. The TVs often don't work. Paint all around the bathroom is bubbling and chipping off. Paint throughout interior is chipping and cracked. Parking after 10pm requires finding a place on the street. The parking lots have lots of ruts in them. The shampoo pumps in the shower often don't work. The bathroom sink does not drain water. There is no real closet - it's just a bump out with hooks nearly 7 feet high. Exterior paint is chipping. The concrete in front of the entrances is cracked. Staff at the front desk lacks energy. Door weather stripping is worn out letting bugs and cold air enter. In summary, stay if that's all you can find or you're on a tight budget. Otherwise, choose another place. With a careful renovation and basic repairs, it could be a great hotel. Note. Staff was actually wonderful and very accommodating but the owner of this place basically bought a decrepit motel 8 repainted it and threw in some different light fixtures. Your hotel is not a hotel, it's a Motel and the renovation is still happening. Our room was a joke. The parking is not good at all. First come first serve so you can not even have your car close unless your first. The alternative is to park a block away and walk with your luggage because there's no loading zone. Do yourself a favor and pay more for some place else. Oh!! At 3:00 AM the trash truck will be by to make sure your awake. This place is really noisy so not a good place to get sleep. read more

I normally don't leave reviews for hotels because I'm more of a foodie/coffee/wine snob, but this place deserves a review because the Anvil staff are spectacular. We originally planned to only stay one night, and ended up staying FOUR nights. I would be lying if I said it wasn't for the customer service, but seriously, their customer service is out of this world. It's amazing. The first two nights we stayed in the Glenwood King room, which was basic--no A/C, but that's totally fine because it actually stayed really cool without it during the day. And in the evening, we just opened up the windows and let the cool air circulate through. It was spacious and comfortable. The other two nights, we stayed in the building across from the Glenwood with a Queen bed. The room is definitely a lot smaller, but still comfy and cozy. This room had A/C--although honestly, I think I prefer the room without because you're able to open up the windows whereas the air conditioning unit in the Queen room is stuck in the window, so the windows are bolted shut. The rooms are all really cute and tidy. Housekeeping does an amazing job! We were so incredibly fortunate to have the pleasure of meeting Michelle, Carolina, and Sofia who were working the front desk. All the staff we interacted with were so sweet and pleasant. Michelle, Carolina, and Sofia went above and beyond to accommodate our last minute plans and make our entire stay so enjoyable and memorable. My friend had to work almost 99% of the time, so thankfully the wifi was strong and reliable. To accommodate his work schedule, we were also given a very generous late checkout time, which really made a huge difference. Like I said, the staff go above and beyond for their guests. Michelle and Sofia also make an amazing latte! Yes, you should definitely try their coffee! Also, they have happy hour from 4-6pm. They serve a delicious spiked lemonade with a bit of jalapeno spice--which really makes the drink pop! I cannot recommend Anvil Hotel enough. The amazing staff truly make you feel at home and so comfortable. I will most certainly be returning with my family and friends in the future, and book at least a week! read more

We loved our stay at Anvil, located close to the main square which allowed us to really explore and enjoy Jackson at all hours of the day/night. Rooms are boutique, chic, and simple. Simple in a good way and decorated so uniquely that makes you feel homey. The lobby provides drip coffee although we did not indulge as COVID has now affect gatherings and Sharing's like that - they are limiting lobby time and encouraging groups not to gather inside, hours are also shortened. Staff isn't the most friendly but check in process was quick and easy, check out was express and contactless. Bed was super comfortable and the rooms were clean. We highly recommend staying here while in Jackson! read more

We loved staying at The Anvil! The aesthetic of this hotel is so cute and modern. They clearly put a lot of time and thought into the renovation. We LOVED the daily happy hour. From 4-6 each day there was a free drink (spiked mochas our first day and rum punch our second day) and live music in the lobby. Really fun! The rooms are cute and well decorated. The showers are HUGE with great pressure. Extra large towels. The bed isn't the most comfortable, but the other perks of this hotel outweigh that. The hotel is walking distance from the downtown area- all restaurants and shopping in walking distance. Cannot recommend highly enough for the price point! read more

I'm pretty loyal to Marriott hotels these days, but in the case of the Anvil Hotel, I'm glad we went outside the Bonvoy membership. Well worth the risk. Anvil was offering a special 20% off regularly priced rooms for July overnight stays, if you booked by end of May. So a room that was normally $250+ in the summertime ended up being closer to $200/night. Still a pretty penny but that's what you pay for just about everything in Jackson. I can see why Yelpers love this converted motel. It's got charm, well designed, and the location cannot be beat. Our queen room was small, but had everything needed, including a hair dryer, comfortable mattress, as well as C.O. Bigelow bath products. And a big, flat screen TV which was enjoyed both nights of the stay. The small minuses were the parking -- it wasn't terribly busy when we arrived on July 3 and finding parking wasn't fun. And again, the prices are higher than one might expect for relatively basic accommodations; however, it's in the heart of Jackson and you better pay up big time if you want to roll super posh. read more

This hotel just needs some work. Rooms are tiny, bed wouldn't fit someone taller than 5,8. Rooms are dark, it is very hard to see in daylight. Things that were broken: bathroom door, window, shower shelf, tv. Stains on wall and no proper window shade to block out light at night and shade covers the ac so you get no air flow if you want privacy. No happy hour on weekends despite hotel offering that at checkin and you only get one free cup of coffee in the mornings. read more

I can't believe we paid for this $600 per night! Cute photos, horrible hotel. We travel a lot and I know what you can get for $600 per night in top cities like LA, NY, DC and yes, Bozeman. This place was a mistake to book - the room had 0 charm, crappy old furniture and odd curtain in the bathroom. The bathroom is the tiniest bathroom I've seen in a long time and there's like 0 place for your clothes if you want to take shower. Yes, it's somewhat updated, but seen better days. Also - the room is booked for 2 adults and they barely have any shower gel enough for one - who the hell even does it? The room is way too dark - there's just not enough light. If feels sad and depressing. Not well set up, as the others said, it's barely enough room for 2 adults and some bags. Luckily I've booked only for 2 nights, otherwise it would have ruined the entire vacay. If you can get this for like $170 per night - maybe, but definitely not more. I'm giving two starts for the location and parking. read more

Was really looking forward to staying here. The good: right in the mix of downtown so you can park (free! Which is rare for "boutique" hotels) and walk instead of having to drive. The lobby is cute and the free coffee in the mornings is nice. The meh: rooms were cute online but definitely aged - whoever their architect/designer was didn't really account for how high traffic these rooms will be and with rough treatment due to skis, hiking boots, etc. Our bathroom had a piece of cracked glass in the window. Rooms were very small and not well laid out. 2 adults in one room with bags felt very crowded and chaotic. The bad; the price. I've stayed at a number of motel turned boutique hotels all over the country and this was the least "luxury" of the lot with the highest price. Between the cracked window, the peeling paint on the vanity backsplash, the curling cork floors, I wouldn't have balked at paying ~175 LESS than what we paid, but at 790 for 2 nights it was incredibly overpriced. I get that Jackson in high season can support this cost but when I pay less for a 3 star joint in any other tourist city in the country and have real in-room amenities I have to ask if I got swindled. Regardless - bed was comfy and being close to downtown and not in Driggs was valuable. Will I stay again? Probably not. Edited for typos read more

This hotel is reminiscent of a time gone by as in the movie "A River Runs Through it." We stayed here last year in early July. The nostalgic decorating in the rooms and the coffee gift shop were endearing. The ladies at the desk were helpful. We thought the price was too high for the accommodations and presentation. My family booked 2 rooms for 6 nights total at Anvil Hotel in June. We also encouraged my brother-in-law to stay there as well. So essentially we booked 3 rooms and spent a decent amount altogether. All of the rooms were very far from each other, even though when I booked, I requested we all be close together. The hotel and lobby were "cute" - but that was about it. Our room was small and very little amenities. They said there was a refrigerator in the room, but it was completely stocked with their overpriced minibar and drinks. We had to take everything out to be able to use it - which later we saw on our account that we were charged for using the minibar (which we didn't). There's no coffee in the room, you had to walk to the lobby where someone poured you a cup of drip coffee if you were lucky (one day they said they were out and were brewing another pot which would have been a 15 minute wait). They also claimed there was a nightly happy hour in the lobby - which we never saw. In fact, one night I asked about it, and someone from the front desk pointed to the Glorietta restaurant and told me they had drinks over there... Kinda confused I thought I must have misread the advertised "complimentary happy hour." The second room we booked was dark and stuffy. You could open the window, but it was right on a busy hallway and very loud. It also was right across from very loud deck construction / remodel that started apx 8:00 am every morning. - No one told us this when we checked in, nor did our rate get reduced for the inconvenience. I was willing to overlook these little annoyances because the location in Jackson was awesome, and for the most part we had a decent stay there. It was clean and mostly comfortable. However that warm fuzzy feeling completely crumbled when they mistakenly double charged one of our rooms. I noticed the error on my credit card statement a couple weeks later, and immediately called Anvil to get the charge refunded. No one answered or called me back to sort out the confusion. I've called and left messages 3 times now and sent 2 emails to resolve this error. Much to my dismay, they haven't refunded the gross over charge (close to $2000!) instead they incorrectly charged my card yet again another $1900! So now they have since overcharged close to $4000 (including that wrong mini-bar charge) and absolutely no one from Anvil has gotten back to me. I don't normally post these types of reviews but I'm just so frustrated with my experience and the lack of regard from Anvil. I've since filed a dispute with my credit card company. read more

When booking I paid in full for the room. But when I arrived at the hotel, they charged me another deposit (which no one warned about in advance) of $100. And they charged me 2 more payments. When we walked in the very first time no one greeted us, they rolled their eyes at us multiple times and very in no way helpful. No one cleaned our room for the 3 days we were there. I had to ask a restaurant near by for toilet paper bc the hotel didn't give us enough. The only time our room was clean was at 930 am on the day of check out before we even checked out. We left for breakfast and came back to collect the last of our things to see that the cleaning people had already gone through everything and so shocked when we came in. This place was less than pleasant. The front desk workers, one gal in particular was so rude and had the nastiest attitude. She should be fired for her lack of friendliness and accommodation. We asked if there was a water filling station and she told us that we could go to the store and buy bottled water. You think I don't know that? We bring our own bottles to be mindful I'm not an idiot unlike the gal who is literally the face of the hotel. The room was disgusting to say the least. The wool blanket had dog hair imbedded throughout the entire thing. There was long white dog hair everywhere and everyday that we got ready to head out we had to dust our clothes off bc we were covered in hair. The floor was filthy. The shower head shot out water in every direction so good luck if you don't want to get your hair wet. There was a hole in the bottom of our door letting sub zero temperatures in and the noise! You could hear people talking clear as day that were either walking by or staying in adjacent rooms. This is obviously a dog hotel bc there were dogs barking all through the day and night. The restaurant located on the property was fantastic and the complimentary hot tea that you could get at the lobby was a nice touch but certainly does not make up for the very poor quality of the rooms and service by the front desk. I would not stay here again if you paid me! Location was good and close to everything but the place itself is a dump! This is not a hotel btw it certainly is a motel and a crappy one at that. We Stayed at this hotel in September, 2023 for 2 nights. We paid over 300.00 a night. The lobby is Cozy and attractive but that's where it stops. We stayed in room 303. The room is old with loose parque wood flooring that made a crunchy sound and feeling under your feet and would wake your spouse at night. The bathroom smelled of mold so bad you had to keep the door shut and exhaust fan on so it would not smell up the sleeping room. The sink, which is located in the bedroom, gurgles loudly every time the adjacent rooms use their faucets as the plumbing drains are shared also annoying when your trying to sleep. We would not stay there again even if it meant not going to Jackson. read more

As we were here for 6 nights, it was quite a challenge given they weren't cleaning rooms or providing standard amenities like towels or toiletries. Although they allow you to request a cleaning, it doesn't get done until the end of of the day, so you have no time to go in the room and clean up before an evening dinner. Jackson is super expensive, lets get that out of the way. Anvil Hotel was one of the cheaper options, but still a little bougie, but again, still way too much for what it was. This is an old motel with a hipster facelift. The room is fine, not huge, but doable and the bed is actually comfy, and kudos for having HBO or Showtime (I forget which one). It's right in the middle of the downtown area and super close to a ton of restaurants, bars, shops, etc.. Why three stars? It wasn't quite lavish, it was just a facelift. The shower curtain was flimsy and plasticy (but kudos for Bigelow & Co products), my hubs killed a spider and I definitely woke up with 2 spider bites, there was an issue with parking as they were doing some landscaping work, and it was 'good luck on parking or find some on the street!' It's loud. People getting up early to go explore, means you're up early. Also, no free coffee in the ever so hipster and cute lobby that you actually only need to go to for check-in and check-out. No maps, no free anything for that matter - no water in the room (it's the mountains and that high elevation). Anything that would have added a nice touch, they did none of it. It felt very transactional. All good, but I mean Jackson is known for its charm and sadly Anvil lacked it. Overall, a solid stay. I'd 100% stay again if this proves to be the cheapest option of any of the nice hotels, but I'd 100% be no the search to see if I could find a better deal somewhere else. I was excited to stay at Anvil and wanted to love the experience but it fell short in just about every way. The hotel lobby and shop are lovely. The complimentary coffee and daily happy hour are a nice touch. Yet, this is somewhat limited in its effectiveness as a community builder given that every time we went, we were greeted by the same gentleman (as was the case anytime we approached the desk) with a rather gruff and accusatory "are you staying at the hotel?" I expect no special treatment and understand there are other establishments and lots of foot traffic. But you would think after our 8th meeting there would be some familiarity. To it's credit, Anvil has an outstanding location nestled just adjacent to downtown with easy access to airport and parks. But the rooms are quite small and the lighting is inadequate without opening the window blinds (which of course is awkward to do in a motel concept). We were tripping over each other much of the week with flashlights. Toiletries are nice but bathrooms are exceptionally small. The main issue with the hotel is that it can't seem to decide if it wants to be a budget or luxury boutique option. Pricing and lobby/shop suggest the latter. Rooms and service suggest the former. In peak season we paid on average 550-600 a night (when we checked in, the man at the desk commented on how much cheaper another guest had booked the room by booking earlier... which could have been left unsaid). With COVID it is certainly understandable that some procedural changes are needed. But no such protocol was ever explained so I'm not sure if the lack of accommodations are standard or not. That being said, we had to empty the trash daily and never had cleaning services. We had to go to the desk on several occasions during our 5 night stay to ask for towels, toilet paper, and new trash bags. Each time we felt to be an imposition on the staff. The last day when we checked out, there were 2 women working who were much kinder than their counterparts earlier in the week. Bottom line, at this price point, one expects more and has options. Would recommend staying elsewhere, and saving your trip to Anvil for a momentary glance at the boutique or dinner at Glorietta. read more

My friend and I stayed at this hotel this past wkd and it did not disappoint! We received excellent customer service from start to finish. The pillows and the bed provided the most comfortable sleep I've had in a hotel. I wish I could've brought those pillows back. The showers were amazing as well. The rooms are smaller than most hotels but make up in comfort. The cherry on top is that they offer complimentary hot chocolate with cognac from 4-8pm! To be honest, this place was a big letdown for the price. Stayed in the Glorrietta buliding. Small room. Bed was comfortable enough. Room was clean. We were here in Summer and it was hot outside. First room they put us in did not have an AC window unit. The second room they gave us had a sizeable gap below the AC unit. That's right, a hole to the outside. I guess I just expect more for over 300 dollars a night. Can't really say I was sad to move on after one night. read more

Anvil hotel was clean and cute. Love the location. Room was warm (winter day) and bathroom was upgraded. I reserved two rooms (1 queen and 2 queens) and ultimately received my request. Check-in was slow because they could not find my second reservations but ultimately, they just 'gave' me a room (both were already pre-paid via my reservation). My son and I stayed in the 2 queen bed room which was located in the back-lot building on the main floor of a 2 floor building. My stay was expensive $250/night/room for a motel but it was a holiday weekend in a resort community. Overall, I feel the price was fair given the quality of hotel/rooms. Being a motel, cars are parked outside your door and people walk by throughout the night. Being a motel, I expected this arrangement. Unfortunately, we had a group/family/kids (??) staying above our room. The walls and ceiling/floor must be thin because we could hear the upstairs guests easily and loudly. I can only imagine, based on the sounds, that the upstairs group was jumping up and down while wearing ski boots. The noise was loud and constant. I felt their noise was intentional (gives you a perspective on how annoying and difficult to sleep with what felt like the ceiling "crashing" on top of me during the night). The noise was very loud and started at 8pm. By 12, I called the front desk and left a voicemail seeking assistance. At 12;15am, I called the "after hours" line and left a text (voicemail not an option). No response during the night. No action with the upstairs noise. No sleep for me that night. The next morning during check-out, I asked the front desk staff about my messages. The clerk could not find either message. I showed her my text and phone calls. She was apologetic. Regardless, how can a 'premium' hotel fail to receive, address and resolve these types of issues, especially during a busy holiday weekend. What if we had a fire? Or some other issue?
