Paid way too much for a small room up two flights of stairs... parking was not close to the room, no one offered for help with baggage, this was summer so I think winter may be more difficult to maneuver around this disjointed floor plan, plus carry ski's up the stairs where the sign says, 'watch out stairs get slippery' ... masks are a must wear, even though the state dropped the mandate.... Older hotel that has been remodeled to more modern standards right in the heart of Jackson. Comfortable beds, nice deck overlooking Jackson to have a cocktail, or coffee on. Not many other amenities though. No pool was a bummer. Rooms were fine, and free coffee in the reception area (which was very good). The placed looked cute and charming, and the staff was friendly, but it was SO LOUD. Some of the worst sound proofing I've ever encountered in any building I've ever been in. I could hear every time the people above me walked across the floor or even rolled their suitcase. Any time a door closed in the building, I could hear a SLAM in my room. The building is on a busy corner where buses go by regularly, so there's a surprising amount of traffic noise for a small town. If you're staying here, you'll want to bring a white noise machine / app. read more

I can not recommend this Jackson Hole hotel to enough people. The location is great - a block from town square - and the folks who work there are terrific. Anvil is a cute boutique hotel located near the center of Jackson. Everything you need is within walking distance, which is worth the price. The rooms aren't fancy, but they're clean and charming, if a little cramped. High ceilings are nice. We also appreciated being able to park right outside our ground floor room, which made loading and unloading the car super easy. The lobby is quaint with room to sit and drink a cup of coffee, which they have on site. Our room was listed at $300 but they gave it to us for $250, which still seemed a little high for mid-October in the middle of Covid, but the place was full, so what do I know? We were comfortable, and the only thing that would prevent me from staying there again is the price. read more

Very cute little place. The location was amazing and we were a few blocks from everything! I enjoyed the decor of the place which had an old western theme. I didn't love that the quilt they put on the bed is the same quilt everyone else uses (and probably doesn't get washed between). Very small room. Probably one of the more economical options in Jackson. Anywhere else you'd laugh at the size of the rooms and the thickness of the walls as at its core, it still is just a motel. In Jackson however, this 250$ motel room is acceptable value. Once you accept this is just an old motel with some design touches, it becomes clear how well that concept is executed. From La Marzocco Coffee machines to the stylish lobby, I would certainly consider staying here again when in Jackson. read more

I did not want to leave this cozy little place. The atmosphere is a perfect mix of charming, cozy, and modern. The service was amazing and we felt taken care of the whole time. Also the perk of free coffee was a win- we both loved the brew they used! We also went to the restaurants happy hour and had some wonderful appetizers and wine. It made for a relaxing evening just walking across from your room straight into the restaurant. The overall location was a huge perk to us as we were able to walk everywhere in town! An adorable little remodeled hipster hotel with a prime location. One of the more reasonably priced (while still pricey--I mean, you ARE in Jackson Hole). They have all the little details you want from a hotel room...a happy hour with a free drink, coffee & tea selection, great linens, yummy shampoo & soaps. The rooms are very small but not unexpectedly so. The lobby/check in area is decorated so nicely and is welcoming for those who want to hang out outside of their rooms. Staff is helpful. They allow dogs for a price and they even have little Pendleton beds available (did I mention hipster cute). read more

The location of the hotel was great. Right in the middle of town. The room was fine and clean. No microwave though. The room was so noisy. The people above us stomped around in their room all night keeping us awake. Noisiest hotel I've ever been in. Also not ADA compliant. No ramps or elevator. We had to carry our adult daughter with special needs up and down stairs. We did request a first floor room but they didn't have any available when we got there. I notice the care and detail that goes into good presentation, and the quality of stay that hopefully matches. The Anvil Hotel absolutely knocks both categories out of the park. While it doesn't offer the most spacious rooms, the meticulous attention paid to making sure that you are having a singular experience is top notch. From top to bottom, Anvil presents everything as a cohesive whole. I'm positive that our room smelled of the same lavender-peppermint aroma that the provided shower gel, conditioner, shampoo, and body lotion also smelled like. The same paint color on the outside of the hotel is also present inside the rooms. The bathroom and walk-in shower has a lovely matte black tile that contrasts perfectly with the white and blue-gray interior. The internet speed is definitely the fastest I've had the luxury of experiencing (85/85?!). The room we stayed in (single queen) had a wall charger that you could either plug your existing wall charger into or just plug your USB cable into the provided USB outlets. From what I understand, Anvil recently underwent a substantial rebranding and remodeling. I can't speak to what it was like before, only to what it is now, and I wholeheartedly recommend Anvil to any traveler looking for a cozy blend of old and modern sensibilities. read more

This hotel is such a breath of fresh air. You can tell whoever runs this place really cares about their customer. Unlike many other hotels I've stayed in, I didn't just find the stylish, modern, cozy decor in the lobby alone, but as soon as I walked into my room, I found the same attention to detail in my room (which was their base room with a queen bed). Overall, everything was clean and the young man at the front desk was enthusiastic and helpful. And their swag was quality. The location was awesome. We stayed in the Anvil Hotel in the early Fall, it's definitely the nicest place to stay in town for a reasonable price. It is as the previous reviewer said, a motel with a hipster remodel. But we quite liked it. The room was small, but very nice decor and comfortable bed. The tv included HBO and non of typical super loud hotel advertising channels, which was nice. Although small, it was perfect for us because we were really just sleeping there. I would assume if you were there for skiing, it could be quite uncomfortable to store all your gear in such a small room. But again, not a problem for us. My only complaints are the water could have been hotter, and the shower curtain stuck to me while showering. If you stay, make a point to go to their restaurant next door, Glorietta. It's well worth it. The food was spectacular and the wait staff was attentive. 4/5 would totally stay here again, even if I stayed somewhere else, I would still go to Glorietta for dinner. read more

Be prepared for noise, we were on the second floor in a queen room, with a locked door in our room that connected to the room next door. The people next door were having a normal volume conversation and we could hear every word. It sounded like they were in the same room as us. This got to be somewhat annoying around 11pm when we wanted to go to sleep. If you are someone that is bothered by noise then this place is NOT for you. Otherwise, The rooms were clean, decorated nicely, dog friendly and the beds were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the parking was easy (right outside the room). The location was great, very easy to walk around town. I would have rated 5 stars if it weren't for the noise but I feel for the price of the room, it left me very disappointed. March stay. Snowed. Skied. Used hotel tonight discount booking site, paid $122 per night. Wanted to love the Anvil. Price seems high given what's not provided. Low price for last minute room lured us in. Definitely would explore other, better options well in advance before considering staying here again. Pros: Location right off the town Square & easy walking distance to shops, spas, restaurants and recreation center. Close to Snow King. Free good coffee and hot tea but only in lobby during times it is staffed. Decent attempt at rustic decor considering this was a throwback dated motel converted to a boutique-wannabe motel with separate buildings. Proximity to Glorietta restaurant. Cons: minuscule room, ~3 feet either side of double bed, ~4 feet from the foot of the bed to the wall. Bed short, barely fit 6 foot companion. Heard guests next to us speaking in a normal voice and all people walking outside. Sink inside the bedroom at foot of bed next to bathroom - no way for the person trying to sleep to be able to rest during middle of the night hand washing or toilet use and flushing, and you can't turn the sink light on because that glares directly onto the bed. Bathroom next to sink, separate room w/door containing toilet & shower (could hear everything if you know what I mean). Shower collected enough water to spill over onto the floor during a brief shower. Janky lock on bathroom window (Ground floor). Had to leave bathroom door closed when not in use because otherwise we couldn't walk on that side of the bed. Room had no chairs, no dresser, had small rack; closet had deep shelves & only one tiny place to hang winter clothes. 4 short wooden rods mounted to the wall next to the bed at room door to hang coats. Walk into room from entry door at side of bed. No microwave, no mini-refrigerator, no coffee maker. Wi-Fi didn't work for laptop with VPN. Abysmal, snarky support. Told me to go to the library to work. This alone is a nonstarter. Had to buy hotspot. But, no place to work in the room (no desk, no chair) no separate area; went to the tiny lobby (but only during staffed hours) to work that to its credit had seating on the ground floor and up one flight of stairs but there's very little privacy and lots of noise: front desk answering phone calls, waiting on people coming in and out of the lobby entrance, & people coming out of the second floor halls where the upstairs seating is. If you don't need to work via VPN while here, if you don't mind the other inconveniences, and if you can get a cheap room rate the Anvil might be for you. read more

I showed up solo on a Sunday evening at 7pm a week AFTER Labor Day with no reservation (my fault). The town was busy. I was charged $355.00 plus tax and probably a "frosting" fee... i'll see on my statement... that is just plain robbery in my opinion. I was by myself on a motorcyle tour of the west. I had rode 500 miles that day , was tired , it was now dark and not safe to continue riding therefore the woman had me by the short hairs and she knew it. Tip: when a motel operator tells you they have 1 room left and then writes the price on a piece of paper and slides it on the counter to you because there's other people I the room, you can bet sure as shootin you're being put together. I really wanted to love this hotel, but sadly it didn't live up to my expectations. The staff was extremely friendly, and Bella, the adorable hotel dog, welcoming...and the lobby/coffee bar/gift shop was hipster cool with lots of things I coveted. But unfortunately the hotel's central location just off Jackson Square (one of the main reasons we chose The Anvil), turned out to be more of a curse than a blessing. The biggest problem was that the walls of the hotel are paper thin, so you can hear everything inside (your neighbors) and out (traffic/pedestrians). The rooms, although well appointed and attractively decorated, are very small. No big deal, as we didn't plan to spend a ton of time in our room anyway. But at 5:30 am when we were awakened by our next-door neighbors talking and packing up and slamming doors, it was disturbing. Then the morning traffic started at 6:00 am. Jacksonians are a bright-eyed bunch apparently, and they all seem to drive 250 HP diesel trucks. By 6:30, we realized sleeptime was over, so we got up, packed up (quietly), and left. This was not my first time in Jackson. I've stayed in Teton Village at least a dozen times. But I was excited to stay downtown for a change. Next time, I'll pick some place a little further off the main square...and with thicker walls. The best part of our stay was dinner at The Anvil's sister restaurant, Glorietta Trattoria. Stayed three enjoyable nights here. Nice to stay in a hotel that reflects the city your are in, as Anvil does. Comfortable beds, blankets that feel like home not a chain hotel. We've stayed here several times in the past and at the time enjoyed it for what it was. It was a $99 a night place that has rooms worth $69 a night in most places and maybe $99 a night in Jackson Hole. Very small outdated rooms with extremely small outdated bathrooms. But, the location is a short walk away from the downtown touristy stuff, so it was okay. Then, 2 years ago they painted it and literally tripled the prices. Not even close to being worth the price now. Many other locations for $300+ a night that provide much more room, updates and other amenities. No way I'd spend $300+ per night at the Anvil. read more

This hotel does not provide adequate parking for its customers. This is a huge problem in the winter. Jackson, WY does not allow any parking on the street overnight in the winter. Tried 3 times to address this with their management. You cannot get ahold of the management, front desk indicates they will have management contact you, but they don't. Front desk attitude is not my problem. Unless you are willing to pay $100.00 for parking ticket, take your business elsewhere. By the way, they do not tell you about this Jackson parkIing policy at checking. I was with several others on this Jackson trip that stayed in various other hotels. All their hotels told them at checking about this policy. read more

When we had to extend his stay they were super accommodating and worked with me to make it easy and seemly to extend the stay and allow him to stay in the same room without having to move rooms. Customer service is what gives this stylish, hip hotel its 5-star rating. I was there in the off season without a reservation and suddenly had car trouble. The staff assisted me with finding a reputable mechanic, and provided me other directions and area info. From the evening staff to the morning staff their personal and professional concern for me truly defines customer service. Most hotel accommodations are blah in their color and interior design. Very noisy hotel! We stayed on the second floor in a Glenwood room, hoping it would be less noisy than a first floor room. Both nights there was a loud mechanical humming noise all night long, off and on. You could also hear anything outside the door, such as people walking, delivery trucks, garbage trucks ...all starting at 5am. Never again! read more

Located within walking distance of downtown (2-4 blocks) Check in was easy and fast. Staff was pleasant and helpful. There are 3 buildings. We stayed in the 300's which is a single story located behind the main building. Parking was tight, some people will have to park on the street. You can tell the building is old, but the rooms were clean and up to date. Has an old west feel to the room. The room is on the small side but we had a king bed. Only negative, there is no microwave in the room. There is a fridge and a safe tho. The bathroom was tile with a standup shower. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash was supplied in the shower. They had the biggest towels I have ever seen in a hotel. AC was a window unit but we only used the heat. Ceiling fan was in the room. Resteraunt was in the back parking lot with excellent food, but plan on spending $100 to eat there. Overall a nice hotel with comfy beds and in walking distance to almost everything. Jacjson Hole is just an expensive place to be, so be prepared. read more

I rarely write reviews but was compelled to do so after my visit to the Anvil Hotel. I visited in mid March 2018 prior to meeting a group of guys on for a ski trip in JH. It was my first time in Jackson and didn't do much research on the town. But I decided to stay here based on the cost / comfort / convenience offered by the Anvil. I soon realized the hotel is better than their own description on Yelp. Moreover, the staff was the most helpful group I've ever had he pleasure to meet. They helped me with Nordic skiing locations, good sushi in town, events to partake in- they were a solid group of people. They even helped us out with a logistical problem we faced days AFTER my stay. Bob and staff - thank you! When I return to WY I'm staying at the Anvil. read more

We arrive at the hotel get to our room to find out there is no air conditioning (was not told this when booking) no big deal. We can open windows and be totally fine. We go to dinner and come back.. heat is running wide open. Has to be at least 80 degrees in there... I go to the front desk to see if we could upgrade to a different room. I have full intentions on paying an upgrade fee or the difference. I go and he says "yeah I can totally do that for you and I'll do it with no charge." Are you sure? We don't mind. "No it's fine!" We get to the new room and I called the front desk to say thank you.. he said no problem, I talked to my manager and he said "that was a good idea." Mhm what was a good idea? "Complaining about the heat to get a bigger room with AC, and a bigger bed!" Poor customer service and rude. read more

Nice enough, things where fairly updated in the room, fairly clean, fairly rustic as well. A little overpriced. Good location. I booked via a travel website, and was surprised to hear that there was a 6% "resort fee" charged per night in addition to the rate, fees, and taxes I already paid on the travel site. None of this was disclosed to me upon original purchase. The associate pointed out that it was there (it was hidden in the fine print). I find this unethical and deceitful to not make this patently obvious to the customer. I also find it ridiculous as The Anvil is not a resort and offers nothing else to the customer except free coffee, so this is clearly an attempt at gouging. They did waive this fee after I complained about the unethical part and how I wasn't going to pay it, which is the only reason they didn't get a lower rating. read more

Well, it was like putting lipstick on a pig! My husband and I stopped here for one night on our Yellowstone vacation traveling from Salt Lake City to Bozeman. This was the most expensive room and yet the least nicest of all the places we have ever stayed. At $333 a night, I expected more. We were given a room that was in a separate building near the restaurant. It was rather warm on the day we checked in and this room had no air conditioning unit. Interestingly, all of the other rooms around it did. So, I called the office and the person from the office came running and gave us keys to a room a few doors down instead. This was definitely a downgrade...half the size, no window, except where the ill fitting AC unit was jammed into (with gaps to the outside), and a deadbolt that didn't lock. Not to mention there was a dumpster located right next to us. How charming...but since we got the AC unit that we asked for, we didn't complain further. We made the best of it and went walking into town to explore. The location was good but that might be the only positive I can say. When we returned to our room that evening, I noticed that the "nicer" room we gave up earlier had tenants and an air conditioning unit had been placed for them that fit their larger window without holes and not blocking all light to the outside. Our night at the Anvil definitely gave a different meaning to Jackson "Hole" for me and luckily I only had to stay in this hole for one night. read more
