I could eat the chicken pizza all day long. However, what's never a miss is their pepperoni as well. Simple, absolutely! There is something about the crunchiness of the crust along with the crunchiness of pepperoni as well. There's just something about it that taste so delicious about the simplicity of it all. This reminds me of Pizza Hut, so if you like that type of deeper, crunchy at the bottom crust, you will like it. I prefer the type of thin crust pizza that you can fold, with bubbled crust on top, so I do feel like it is hard for me to be a fair judge. This is a chain that's from California but seems more midwestern in taste. They make huge pizzas and automatically cut them in narrow slices, which is great for kid parties. My updated review is long overdue and much deserved. This MMP establishment is in a class of its own because of the owners and staff. They are honest, have the highest integrity and truly care about the quality of food they serve. The pizzas are fresh, made to order, hot, made with quality foods AND arrives on time -every single time!. They are a small business that at the end of the day -needs to return a profit - while having to service the public -which is a huge undertaking. I have been getting pizza's here for over 6 years now and couldn't be more than pleased with the staff and business practices and they own up to any mistake they might have made. Compassion & pizza. Last evening I bought a pizza and when I went to my car I discovered that I left my keys inside ! I went through the extended process of calling AAA and waited for their arrival. In the meantime my phone was out of power. After about 35 minutes the owner of Mike's offered to drive me about 2 miles to a house where I had a duplicate set of keys. I decided to wait but after 1 1/2 hours I accepted the owner's offer. It took about 15 minutes. When I offered to pay the owner he refused. His warmth and compassion was amazing. Amongst all of the fancy pizza locations you'll find in the Berkeley/Albany area, Mountain Mike's is a throwback to the pizza many of us grew up with - or at least the good version of the pizza we grew up with. They make solidly delicious pizzas that have generous toppings and aren't too doughy. Pre-pandemic, we used to order pizzas for pick-up/take-out which was convenient since they have a small parking lot that typically has plenty of parking. During the pandemic, we ordered online for delivery which was super easy. I also appreciated that their online ordering system makes it easy to redeem coupons and that their delivery staff respected social-distancing delivery requests (dropping pizzas off on the porch). First I call in and state that I have a coupon for $22.99 any large specialty pizza and I'm told it's expired even though there no expiration date.... Stuck in a hotel in an unfamiliar city, tired after a 6 hour drive with no energy to go out? The front desk told Hubs only pizza places deliver. Later we found out other options were available. However, out of 3 pizza advertisements we decided on Mountain Mike's. The time from placing the order to delivering to the hotel was about 45 minutes. A large Everest pizza was chosen and it WAS large. I met the delivery guy in the lobby. As I took the box from him another guest asked for his card. While I was walking back to the room another guest following behind me must have enjoyed the captivating aroma of the pizza and said, "Oh boy!" Really loud with envy in his remark. Upon opening the cover of the box, holy cow, it was loaded with so many ingredients and looked too good to break apart. The pizza came with paper plates. Couldn't wait another minute, enjoyed 4 slices( it was cut into many pieces) so maybe about 2 regular sized pieces. If the room had a larger fridge we could have enjoyed it the next day too. It was a little thick and doughy for my taste, but overall a fine pizza. The food arrived hot (both times) and it was perfectly acceptable as a dinner. The cheese was a good melty/stingy mix and the pepperoni was exceptionally well appointed with meat and was crisp and tasty. When you're craving something different from the Berkeley usuals like Cheeseboard, Dominoes, Arizamendi, etc. Mountain Mikes is a great option. I looked online and signed up for coupons because why not? I saw a $16.99 deal for a large 1-topping pizza so I ended up getting a large pepperoni. The coupons are mainly to print and don't have specific codes on them so I called ahead to make sure they would honor the online coupon at this location and they did. I was surprised that they said it would take 15 mins and when I did show up it was ready. The pizza had a ton of pepperoni and the kind of pepperoni that turns into cups while they bake it. YUM! The sauce here is on the sweeter side in my opinion but all in all, the pizza here is tasty. I also love how they cut slices into a ton of smaller ones because it makes it easy to share and especially not overeat. This location also has a deal for a free order of cheesy garlic sticks when you check in. It only takes about 10 mins so be sure to get the deal! This review is for their delivery option, I've never physically been to the store! I've ordered from this location a few times as I was staying at a nearby motel. Always got a small pizza and an order of mozzarella sticks. Their pizza is good, nothing to complain about and nothing I'm over the moon about, but I will say I'm grateful that they don't skimp on their pizza toppings! I hate when places skimp on ingredients so you have to order "extra" for a dollar or two more. They also gave me a lot of crushed pepper and Parmesan on the side in a little bag in case I needed! The only thing I can think of to "grumble" about was that the mozzarella sticks weren't as hot and melty when they arrived, probably because they were sitting in a car on the drive over so, understandable - luckily I had a microwave. Also wish they had a Diet Coke 16oz bottle option but I should opt for water anyway haha. Overall, I ordered delivery through Yelp, waited about 45 minutes to receive my food, had to reheat my mozzarella sticks a bit, but enjoyed a satisfying pizza. My delivery guy Mario was also really nice! Thankful for Yelp's Eat24 option that gave me a digital receipt, confirmation emails, an option to tip beforehand, and even a timer as to when I'd get my food. Very friendly lady (I think she was the owner) was at the cash register and after I placed my order, she mentioned that there was a coupon that she could apply that would get me a larger pie for essentially the same price! So refreshing after the recent experience I had at our regular Mt Mike's location near home (see my review of the Pleasanton location) - what a difference in customer experience! This place is also very clean and well maintained. The place has a great atmosphere with lots of natural light and a decent number of flat screen TVs. The owners clearly take pride in their location and it shows. Holy cow - just got my pizza and the nice lady already had some peppers and Parmesan packets packed for me in a baggie.
