The Mosaic is an excellent casual eatery with high quality, unique foods. Located just around the corner from main street Northampton, Mosaic is just a short walk (within sight) down the street from other popular restaurants such as Noodles, Woodstar, Bela, and Packards. The dining process is fairly informal, as you simply order at the counter, receive a number, and wait for the food to be brought to you. Bussing your table is your responsibility and since you've already paid, you can eat at your own pace. There is seating inside as well as in front and in back and is all pretty comfortable. The food at Mosaic is extraordinarily fresh and well-prepared. There are a host of Middle-Eastern to Mediterranean inspired dishes with items on the menu such as lamb stews, crepes, sandwiches on homemade bread, and more. Being a fish lover I've had the Trout Paella as well as the Crepe Pacifiqe (a crepe with salmon, mushrooms and onions in a tarragon sauce) and both were extremely delicious- and go down well with a nice glass of Moroccan iced tea. My boyfriend has also thoroughly enjoyed their crepes and omlettes. I prefer to eat outside on their patio as it is nice and airy in the warmer months, but the inside is adequate as well. Nothing too fancy and not a giant place- I've never had to wait to sit but I've seen it get crowded on a nice day. As previously stated, I really enjoy that you order at the counter, the food is brought to you, and you bus your own table. It makes me feel like I can take my time and enjoy my food. Overall: I really love Mosaic. It's a great option for something different from more standard fair you can find in the area. I'll be sure to get that Crepe Pacifique again before I move to Seattle! read more

Damn good food at the right price. Not expensive, though not cheap, it's delicious and healthy. The menu doesn't change, which is a plus for me, a creature of habit: You can get breakfast omelets, crepes, etc. They have good cafe, tea and juices. It differs from Amanouz in that the food is less Mediterranean, and more french. So there is less emphasis on falafel, hummus and pita, and more emphasis on yummy euro-centric dishes, including baguettes, stews, lentils, eggs, crepes and the rest. The restaurant itself is clean looking, with a good atmosphere and always an open seat, a nice perk of being off main street, yet still in the heart of downtown. But in terms of music, I wish they'd change the CD every once in a while! read more

I've eaten here once and currently live in Northampton and I can say without second thought that this is the WORST restaurant in Noho. The omelets are completely without flavor and far too moist. The cooks, who you can see from behind the cash counter, seemed to be gawking at my friend while we were ordering and the interior is just tacky and cold--Totally reminiscent of the inside of a staged, modular home. Just don't go, jesus, just don't. read more

Excellent restaurant! The staff is very friendly, and there's a comfortable amount of seating. The goat stew is so tender and comes with plenty of vegetables. Great portions sizes here. The Moroccan tea is spectacular. Also, I would highly recommend trying out the dessert crepes. Just enough sweetness to end a delicious meal! read more

Although this place seems to be run by the same folks who run Amanouz, on the other side of Northampton's tiny downtown, I prefer Amanouz. But why, I wonder? This has more and more comfortable outdoor seating. Flavors and freshness are comparable. The dishes and menu are slightly different - more refined and not quite as intense here. Or maybe I just order differently. But the other place feels less uptight. And I like the smells and colors of the interior, and the food, better over there - those big beet salads, especially. If this sounds like utter nonsense, try them both and you'll see what I mean. read more

Delicious! Quick and speedy service and very authentic food, a good mix up on a traditional diner breakfast.

I was walking around Northampton with a friend and it was her turn to choose a place for dinner. She chose Mosaic Cafe. Everything smelled delightful as we approached. Outdoor seating was available and not overrun by disrespectful smokers. I ordered Spicy Lamb Merquez Sausage Brochette and we split an olive plate. She ordered some stew.. forgot what kind. It came quickly. The olive plate was disappointing as all they did was throw a bunch of whole olives on a plate with two small slices of tomato and cucumber and served it with pita. They were good.. just not what I was expecting. When the meals came, they smelled even better than when we were approaching the restaurant. My spicy lamb was delicious. Enough kick to call it spicy but not so much I couldn't enjoy it. By far, the best meal I've had in a long time. We exchanged bites and her stew was also amazing. Many different ingredients on one plate and enough food to comfortably feed two. I can't say enough how well-prepared and delicious everything was. Different people checked on us a couple times to make sure we were enjoying the meal and didn't need anything. I can't wait to go back. read more

I first went to Mosaic during its first week open, and came away with a bad impression, and didn't go back for some time. However, I was recently there for lunch, and it's really too bad that I've been avoiding it for so long, because the menu has expanded and it's really a great place. The crepe Marseillese is very good, and the chicken brochette sandwich even better. The hummus appetizer was good but a bit odd, there was some kind of white cream-like sauce on top of the hummus that I couldn't identify, and didn't particularly like, but it wasn't a huge deal. The baklava is delicious, definitely try the pistachio version. Great place, very busy for lunch recently, but still have always found a table. read more

Normally, I would rate Mosaic higher, as my experience has generally been good. However, I arrived on Saturday night at 9:50pm driving a half hour from home with the express purpose of eating dinner. Closing time both on the website and on Mosaic's door listed an 11pm closure. When we arrived at 9:50pm ALL chairs were stacked on the tables, and we were told they sometimes close early. Not the way to run a business. I don't appreciate the useless 1 hour round trip drive for nothing. read more

Be careful to eat the food here, they don't wear masks properly. And service was bad. I called to order but the voice at the other side of the phone sounded like a funeral home, very cold and reluctant to help. And they told me the food would be ready in about 30 min but when i get there in 30 min, i waited the at least 30 min more. And i saw some people there prepared food were not wearing their masks properly. i decided to not give them any business any more. Hope this pandemic will filter more bad-service restaurants~ read more

Mosaic is far and away the best restaurant in Northampton. You have to be okay with the college town style--order at the counter from the menu boards. (I believe there are ordinary paper menus but I've never seen anyone use them.) On the plus side, you get the college town prices, i.e., inexpesive. Find yourself a table (beautiful garden seating out back) and wait for the wonderful food delivery. Their soups, couscous, crepes, stews, and salads are consistently yummy and satisfying. On our many visits, we've blissed out on the lentil soup, avocado salad, the Mosaic salad, the atlas vegetarian crepe, as well as all kinds of omelettes and breakfast crepes. The fancy restaurants come and go, Mosaic is forever. Btw, we are not writing from the college student perspective, but as seasoned (or, one could say, old) world travellers. read more

Ended up here with the gf after deciding to take a spontaneous trip up to Amherst/Northampton. Small cozy little cafe, that serve items from pastries, pies, stews, to crepes. Don't know how the two of us did it, but we managed to spend $50 here. We ordered a spinach twist (flaky pastry topped with powdered sugar), feta tomato olive pie (pita bread topped with the following), steamed egg spinach cheese on a french baguette (very bland, but suited the gf well), veggie crepe (light fluffy crepe filled with veggies, swiss, and topped with some sauce), and a lamb stew with prunes, raisins, onions, peppers, and rice, that the worker recommended (I found it interesting, savory and sweet, but would never order again). The food is not bad, but would be nothing I would ever crave for. read more

La Pacifique crêpe is so so good! Not exactly like a crêpe in France but great flavors nonetheless. Their coffee is decent, not the best. Nice staff most of the time. Sometimes the line is a bit long but nothing to complain about. I went there once before playing at the Iron Horse, and I really enjoyed their orange-carrot smoothie! I was there for a long time and they didn't rush me in any way. I recommend it. read more

When the best that can be said about a restaurant is that it serves "healthy" food -- a backhanded compliment at best -- I don't really get my hopes up for a great meal. Such was the case at Mosaic Cafe, which offers a fair amount of vegetarian fare. I and four companions went there for dinner on a recent weekday evening. This is not a place that's heavy on "ambiance." The small, brightly lit, plainly furnished dining area reminded me of a break room at work -- and none too tidy at that: There were crumpled, discarded paper napkins under some of the tables and chairs, apparently left there by earlier diners as we were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. Upon arriving, you place your order and pay for it at the cashier's counter, selecting from a menu hand-written on large posters suspended from the ceiling. You'd be well advised to peruse the menu online before leaving home, as much of the food may be unfamiliar if you're not a regular customer. After ordering you seat yourself at a table in the dining area. Sooner or later -- much later in our case -- we had quite a long wait even though the place was empty -- someone brings your food to your table. After eating, you're expected to bus your own dirty dishes -- a unique practice I hadn't encountered since my days having lunch in a school cafeteria. As for the food? It's ... interesting. It's billed as "Moroccan Mediterranean." and features many varieties of stuffed crepes and stews, which may or may not actually be representative of the cuisine of the region -- I don't know as I've never been there. The problem with the food we ordered, although tasty enough, was that it didn't appear to be freshly prepared. For example, I had the Lamb Marrakesh Stew -- a somewhat depressing brown mash of overcooked vegetables; a relatively small amount of shredded meat that might have been lamb, but, lacking any distinctive flavor, might just as well have been beef or pork; stewed prunes; and raisins in a thick brown (lots of brown stuff here) sauce -- which looked and tasted as if it had been stored for some time in a refrigerator and simply reheated for service. That said, it's true that the flavor of some soups and stews improves after a day or two (or three?) in the fridge, so, as I said, it was tasty enough. One of my companions got the Falafel Platter, the ingredients of which also seemed to have been pre-made and to have spent considerable time hanging out in the fridge. Another friend ordered the Lamb Crepe, which was served hot off the griddle and was the only thing that appeared freshly made. Some of the entrees, like my stew, are accompanied by overcooked rice or hunks of a commercially baked baguette that may have come from Big Y. Prices are fairly steep for what you get. My medium-size bowl of stew came to just under $20 including tax. read more

Breakfast here was completely serviceable on a hot July morning: fantastic iced mint tea, which can be served sweetened or unsweetened. I had a baguette with lox and cream cheese, which was a satisfying breakfast. Only complaint? The baguette was a misnomer and more of a soft hoagie, but was quite good just the same. Decent, well priced food in walking distance to Smith campus. read more

I normally like this place. Today I've been waiting 45 minutes (am still waiting) for Mosaic Eggs. I just uncomfortably had to inquire. I feel like I might have done something. But wait--they're finally here! read more

Mosaic Cafe - Delicious! - Moroccan Near Me - Northampton, Massachusetts

I asked for a sweetened Moroccan tea and it was made incorrectly. I called and politely asked if I could have the tea remade or sweetener added to it. The woman on the phone refused and promptly hung up. This was disappointing as I had previously enjoyed this restaurant. I'm hoping that this was just a one time occurrence and that customers will not be treated this way in the future. read more

Never had a bad order here. Mediterranean crepe or brochette always kills, Turkish coffee hits the spot, and the pistachio baklavas are tender and moist. Chill vibe with lovely outdoor seating. I make it a point always to stop and eat here when I'm in the area, then pop over to Hungry Ghost Bread on my way out. Many thanks to the owners. read more

This place is so GOOD! First of all, their hummus is absolutely amazing. Hummus isn't too hard to make, of course, but I've never had hummus as good as the one I've had at Mosaic. Second, their crepes! Their crepes are so delicious! I've had the chicken stew crepe, which was the perfect mixture of savory and spice. Their nutella crepe is so yummy, as well. Who doesn't love nutella? I've also had their signature lentil soup, which was perfect comfort food and helped warm me up. Even their cream cheese and smoked salmon on a toasted baguette was amazing. Their bread is to die for. It had that perfect quintessential crunch when you break it; it's moist and fluffy on the inside. Their morrocan mint tea is soothing and fragrant, though I'm not on expert on tea. It was good to me! Mosaic has never disappointed me and I always look forward to trying new things there. It is a really cute, small restaurant. They always decorate the tables with a fresh flower in a vase and although you wait your own tables, it has a very classy atmosphere. Students frequently study here, taking advantage of the free wifi and it's great to come and just talk with groups of friends or family. The prices are great and the food is delicious. Definitely a place you must try. read more

The food was delicious. But that was all this place had going for it. My falafel sandwich was soggy and fell apart as soon as I tried to lift it. I ended up with a very messy falafel platter that was harder to eat. The Atlas crepe was far too soggy and the sauce it is sitting in does not impart enough flavor to justify the soaking. The food was fine, but we won't be returning. read more

Have been here a few times and have been met with great service. Delicious, healthy food too!

Ok food horrible customer service. Sofia more or less dropped my plate on my table and when I had asked her for some silverware and a napkin she seemed annoyed and bothered. As my hand gesture and wink that I needed table service wasn't enough she wasn't making her way to my table she had wanted t engage in conversation from across the patio I had to explain to her that I didn't want t have this conversation across the dining room. Finally she explained that the silverware and napkins were inside. Would have expected a helpful and hospitable attitude from someone working with customers. read more

Always fresh, tasty, well prepared, and priced right. This is a go-to spot for breakfast lunch or dinner. Beautiful generous salads, heavenly white bean or lentil soup. The loubia (fresh lima beans) is delicious and I often order it with chicken or grilled lamb. The decor is pleasant though the dining room is a bit austere. Ordering at the counter can be lengthy at times. The patio out back and porch in front are nice in good weather. read more

Delicious beautifully flavored food! We got the Atlas Stew and Mosaic stew with salmon and both were excellent. We'll be back!

This place is RUDE! Really should read the unrecommended reviews before choosing this place. Im regret! The mid age lady put the tea on your table like she hates you. Maybe they trained her to do it so loud to make sure you know she's really existing! Service is so slow and boss didn't even say sorry. Very bad organized! 1 h sitting there got Nothing! Got refund but Amount was wrong! They're not only bad restaurant and also scammers! They have no more honor to serve me. And I'll tell everybody their service and the boss are bad!!!! The boss gave me a lot of Bulls**t about how busy they are but HIS BROTHER's restaurant 'amanouz cafe' is also very busy, I ate there many many times, I never had such a bad experience. Don't give me your bullsh*t! read more

We were looking for a take out meal, different from what we've been making at home so we ordered take out for a picnic at Smith College gardens. Love this place. It is self service, you get your own utensils and bus your table but the food is so look good.

Surprisingly, amazingly delicious food! Food of such tastiness elsewheres would have cost a heck of a lot more. So grateful

BEWARE IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES. And if you eat here, expect VERY POOR customer service! Friday night my Mom came for her first overnight visit since we moved to NoHo, and my husband and I decided to take her to Mosaic Cafe for her first meal! Before placing our order, my Mom specified that she has a severe gluten AND mushroom allergy. She ordered a GF lamb crepe (the ingredients listed on the menu were "lamb, swiss cheese, spices, crepe"). After a 20 min wait our food came, and her crepe was FILLED with mushrooms. I asked one of the staff (tall guy with beard and long hair) why there were mushrooms in her crepe when she had told the cashier that she was allergic. He told us to wait while he checked the receipt and came back to say there was nothing on our order slip that specified no mushrooms (did he think we were lying about telling them?!?). He said it wasn't his fault that the menu didn't say there were mushrooms in the crepe. WHAT?!? He asked if she wanted him to make her another one without mushrooms, she said yes, and he took her plate away without offering to give her anything else while she was waiting. After another 10 min wait (by this time, she was very hungry), he came back with another crepe and apologized. She started eating it immediately, but I noticed that the crepe looked different from the GF ones I normally get. So my husband went up to the counter and asked the same guy, and he asked the cook, who said it was NOT a gluten free crepe. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? She has SEVERE allergies. He asked if he could make her another one, but by this point, she was already starting to feel sick, so she told him she was done....and he stormed off! Like it was OUR fault that the food was wrong. No apology, no offer to credit us the meal, no NOTHING. I was furious, but I was more worried about getting my Mom something to calm her allergic reaction down, so we rushed over to Cornucopia where they helped us pick out some digestive enzymes for her that cost $23! I am the most upset that the staff at Mosaic made everything seem like it was our fault and did nothing in the end to make our experience better. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone going forward, and I don't think I'll be able to eat there again, which breaks my heart because one of my favorite meals in town is their veggie brochette sandwich. So again, I would NOT go there if you have any type of food allergy, or you're at risk for getting sick. And the customer service is incredibly disappointing. read more

Tasty Mediterranean/Moroccan food at decent prices in a simple storefront. We ordered a meze platter (or the equivalent) and a falafel wrap. Both were great, if not spectacular. Mosaic is a solid option whenever you're in Northampton. read more

It is a fantastic restaurant that is in the tradition of a Mediterranean Taverna. Food is fantastic and I have never been rushed. Even though it's based in Moroccan tradition all Mediterranean region traditions are very similar when it comes to food. You will not get that here built what you will get is great food, freshly prepared at a fair price! read more

Truly a terrific member of the northampton dining family. Much like its sister, Amanouz, Mosaic is slightly homier feeling and similar in taste and value. One of my favorite places to eat in Northampton! Lots of delicious Moroccan and French food- a place to get spicy cinnamon lamb sausage stew! Their crepes are light, fluffy, large! Wow, what a very pleasant surprise! Went there for brunch this morning with friends and was expecting standard breakfast fare, but oh no, not here. Their omelets are RIDICULOUS (as is the crepe you can choose to get with it). Lentil soup was phenomenal. And the Tangier Chicken Stew was just amazing. There was not one thing we didn't thoroughly enjoy. & for it being a Sunday during brunch time (we were originally going to go to Sylvestors but they had a 45 min wait) there was no wait and a lot of places to sit. Good energy, awesome spot, can't wait to go back to try the sandwiches! read more

Really tasty food at very fair prices. Food wasn't top shelf quality, but this isn't meant to be gourmet food, just good comfort food and for the price noone can complain. The only thing you might complain about is the self-serve style of seating/ waiting. It just makes for a much more casual experience, but again, they are not trying to deliver anything more. It's clean and comfortable and great for any meal besides a special occasion. read more
