Early on a weekend for lunch (11:45 am)---ordered a lamb dish. 70 minutes until food came ...."Sorry we had a rush" (there were only 4 patrons ahead of us in line) Food was suppose to have olives (quite a few of them) in the dish--it's part of the flavors--none. It was also a rice dish, very little rice . As a matter of fact, the last time we were there a year earlier, though the food came out in about 30 minutes, they had also left the olives out of the dish. I won't gamble the next time. During Family Weekend, we were looking for a comfortable late lunch option -- and Mosaic had a great menu. I had the Marrakech stew -- which was really good. My son had I believe a chicken dish on a baguette. My husband had an omelette that unfortunately took forever to receive. All of us had orange juice and shared a hummus plate. One month ago, the food was excellent. Yesterday, stale pita bread. Falafel are made there and are tasty. Both of our meals seemed off. Lots of romaine lettuce, but chopped into 2 to 3 inch pieces, including the crunchy heart that was huge. What was experienced would prevent our returning. read more

I have a strong suspicion that Mosaic and Amanouz cafe are either the same owners or family because their food is so similar, even down to the sign they have outside their restaurants... but that's not the point here. Food is great here, and they cater to vegetarians, pescatarians, whatever. Everyone can eat a delicious meal here. After an afternoon of hiking in the cold weather I wanted to warm my bones up with a hearty, yet healthy hot meal. My friend who is familiar with the area suggested Mosaic cafe. The salmon stew was exactly what the doctor ordered. Full of fresh veggies, great flavor, and hearty salmon. You can choose to have it accompanied with either rice or baguette. I chose the baguette, and the whole meal in it's entirety was so rich and filling that I could only eat half of it. Their hot Moroccan mint tea is a must. And, if you still have room for dessert, you can't go wrong with their crepes, especially the nutella one topped with a light dusting of powdered sugar; delicious! Great service too. read more

Mosaic is one of those places you enjoy so much you let the idiosyncrasies slide. The customer base is honest. The food is well priced and delicious. The atmosphere is cozy af. The only issues are - unlike other restaurants that are ready to serve when they open, Mosaic for some reason ~STARTS~ to prep their kitchen when they open. So they're not ready to start serving food until an hour after opening. The other thing is - if you order their amazing tea to go - there is no consistency around pricing and sizes of to-go cups. My partner and I hit the Gym on New Years Day. (How bad could it be?) But then afterward we were cold and hungry. We weren't sure what was or was not open in town, so we started walking. So long ago that I am not even sure it's the same place. It didn't feel the same. Today it's a little dingy. A little run down in spots... But to food. Oh, gods the food. Everything we had was to die for. The white bean soup we shared as an appetizer. The Chai Latte with almond milk. My Partner's green tea. My turkey ciabatta was so good, I had a hard time telling which part of it was my favorite. (The roll was exquisite. As was the ground turkey.) My partner had the La Pacifique Crepe w/ Salmon Gluten Free. It was huge and flavorful. We finished this off by splitting a pistachio baklava. Which was amazing. I rarely get to have Baklava as most places make them with walnuts (which I am allergic to.) So this was a delightful treat. They do also make walnut ones, and almond. SO: Many good foods offered. From soups to full meals. Order at the counter, and they deliver to you. (They give you a number,) They have alternative types of milks, and gluten free options. They have Pistachio and Almond Baklava! (Sorry, this is just huge in my world.) The staff is very nice, and accommodating. (Drop a tip in their jar at the counter.) I had gone for a walk with a friend and my daughter and her friend and stopped by at 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Parking was a bit challenging as it always is in Northampton. They have a nice outdoor seating area in the front for people watching but also have a nice indoor area and another outdoor area out bacK. After pondering the menu we ordered the hummus plate, lamb chop salad, tuna wrap, tangier chicken stew and lamb marakech. It was impressive to watch the kitchen staff work in harmony in such a small kitchen. Obviously everyone has a job and performs as such to bring out these delicious dishes. The food was excellent. The lamb in the marakech was very tender and moist. Everything was served on real plates and the presentation of everything was spot on. After our entrees we couldn't possibly leave without trying the crepes. We ordered blueberry, Nutella and strawberry, peanut butter and honey and mango. All the crepes were absolutely delicious and a perfect way to end a delightful meal. I can definitely recommend this for lunch or dinner. read more

But my "beef stew"--which the owner enthusiastically affirmed was a "tagine"--was disappointing because it was just ok. My experience of tagines whether I've ordered them or cooked them myself is that they are AMAZING, flavored with Moroccan spice blends that contain cinnamon and also include (for example) dried apricots: But this was just OK beef stew--it did not taste bad, it just was a chore to eat it. read more

The sub-par service of Mosaic Cafe is almost made up for by the good food and fair prices. I ordered the paella with trout and the soup of the day. 15 minutes after sitting myself, the cashier comes over and says they were out of trout. Well you had to have known that before I paid because the woman eating next to me as I sat said how glad she was to have gotten the last trout. Great, so I guess I'll have to go with the Salmon. 40 minutes passes. The cashier plops my soup down in front of me without muttering a word and walked away. It would also have been nice to be given a spoon with my soup or at least told that the silverware is self serve. I had to figure that out by myself. The soup was flavorless, I had about two bites and gave it a pass. My entree came out. It was decent, the salmon and the paella did not juxtapose well however, It seemed a salmon fillet was an awkward addition to the paella, and were not meant to be eaten together. The trout is yet to be decided. The paella was fresh but lacking spices and salt. I enjoyed it nonetheless. The prices here are good. Came here again 3 years later and more than ever impressed with the place. First of all the safety measures are in place and enforced. I love eating here and they accommodate my gluten free vegetarian diet extremely well. I eat here every time I visit the area. I just Happen to walk by this cafe and I noticed the menu. It had so many different varieties of food that I could eat as a gluten-free dairy free person.
