Great steaks, chicken, crab cakes, and amazing sides. Those Au Gratin potatoes are out of this world. The biggest hit was the Lobster Bisque. Silenced a rowdy table right quick. Our waiter and wait staff just rocked. Friendly and engaging. Helpful and knowledgeable. Just took the whole dinner to another level. The restaurant dining room is a bit formal but cozy. Comfortable. Great environment. Super clean. Personalized menu for my Dad's birthday was the nicest touch. So simple but it brought such joy to the table. We like to go to Morton's every year for my Dad's birthday but this was a larger group than usual. All had a great time. Great food. TOP 3 WORST EXPERIENCES I've ever had. I had a 9pm reservation on 12/24/21 to celebrate my anniversary. After driving 40 minutes we get there and the door was locked and no one picked up the phone. There was a paper sign on the door that they closed at 9. I checked my email and saw that our reservation was cancelled at 8:45pm. They apparently felt 15 min was enough notice on Christmas Eve. No one called to tell me they close at 9 or that my reservation was cancelled all day. I checked the website numerous times on the day and there was nothing about Christmas Eve hours. Called the manager the next day to figure out what happened and he was very condescending and argumentative. He said they don't cancel reservations so he's not sure how that happened (wouldn't take ownership of the mistake at all). He repeated that the door was not locked at 9pm (when I was pulling and pushing on the door in the cold the night before) and that they were answering the phone all night (when I stood outside the restaurant the night before hearing the phone ring numerous times on the other side). There was nothing but half-hearted apologies and all he offered to do was fit us in today. Since it was Christmas Day, we of course can't come in and he didn't offer any help to reschedule for another time or offer any compensation after that and just asked " if we're done here." After hearing that it was clear it was not genuine. This would've been our first time trying Morton's but with that level of hospitality in charge I'll gladly take my business elsewhere and go to a steakhouse that's welcoming. Finally made it to Morton's after a recommendation. Dinner started with some complimentary bread which was some pretty good bread, I had worse. I had to stop eating it before I got full. I ordered tea, no appetizers and went straight to the entrees. Rib Eye Bone in, Sour Cream mashed potatoes and Brussels. Let's start with the sides, the Brussels were cooked the way I liked them, without any bacon. The mashed potatoes were good as well. Now for the main reason I went there, the rib eye! It was cooked medium and was just okay, nothing special about. I had better steaks. Maybe it needed a crowning or a little more salt. Travelled from Oregon to be w/my college kid for Thanks Giving. Shamikia was our waitress and she was very nice & attentive. Respect to her for working on a holiday and making sure my Filet Mignon was right. It took three tries but we got there. First it was overcooked, then under cooked. I also had to ask twice for my beer but thats minor. The sides were on point. Hard to mess up a baked potato but the Cauliflower.............was LEGIT. If you go, get this dish! I recently came to Morton's with a friend as we were in the mood for a nice steak dinner and wanted to treat ourselves. Unfortunately, the only thing we treated ourselves to was a well done tomahawk, cold sides and horrible service. The last time I came to this Morton's location was 5+ years ago and I remembered it being amazing and worth every penny. Since then, the chain has gone way down hill. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First, the ambiance of the restaurant looks like a scene out of Scarface. The carpet and furniture are so outdated it looks like the scene when Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer are at a booth in the back of a restaurant snorting coke. This ambiance is worse than that though, because the carpet is black, the lights are dim and everything is mirrored so even if you have good vision, you won't once you come here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a pre-fixed meal which includes an appetizer, tomahawk steak, two sides and dessert for 2. I think this special menu was created because they must need help attracting people to the restaurant and once the food came out I knew exactly why. We ordered our steak medium rare only for it to come out medium well. We tried to tell our waitress it was overcooked but we couldn't find her for at least 15 minutes not only because she was missing in action for the majority of time we were there but also because it was so dark we honestly couldn't tell who was who. It was like playing a game of where's Waldo with our waitress. By the time she finally came over to ask us how our meal was, we had been sitting there for 20 minutes with a cold tomahawk, Cold spinach and cold truffle fries and hadn't eaten. She promptly said she would bring a new one but by the time it came out it had been over an hour that we had been sitting there. In the meantime, we resorted to eating the "sauces and dips" they brought over with our overcooked steak - the bearnaise and the horseradish sauces. Unfortunately, the bearnaise was just cold and clumpy mayonnaise and the horseradish sauce was actually just 2 dollops of daisy sour cream, no horseradish. At that point we were desperate. Finally, we thought we'd be pleased once our dessert came - an ice cream sundae. How can anyone mess that up, right? Well congratulations Morton's because you did. The whipped cream was cool whip and the actual ice cream was freezer burn. I promise I've had better ice cream out of the good humor freezer at a bodega. It was so disappointing. The best part about the experience was receiving our check so we could leave and never come back only to find that our waitress charged us for the 9 oz glass of wine when we ordered the 6. By the time we played where's Waldo again to tell her about this error it had been 2 agonizing hours staring at the black carpets and fun house mirrors. Eventually we were able to leave and luckily snagged some free mints on our way out. The best edible thing they offered that entire night were the free mints. Let's just say we definitely won't be going back here for a while. Maybe in 5 years we will try again but for now we'll stick to capital grille or even outback. read more

This past Saturday, my wife and I wanted to have dinner before we heading to see the film Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. So we opted to eat at Morton's at Riverside in Hackensack. We called Morton's on our way there to see if a reservation was needed for only the two of us, and after speaking with Don over the phone he explained to us that normally we would need a reservation but at the moment they didn't have any available tables and if we wanted a table our wait time would be at least 3 hours, he also further explained that we can sit by the bar on a "first come first serve" basis, which we opted for the latter. Upon arrival we were greeted by Don, a presentable, nice young man. The place was packed and lively, we were in luck that no sooner we arrived and a couple of bar stools opened up. We sat down, we met two fine bartenders: Georgie & Alex. Both were friendly, courteous and skilled at their craft. For drinks I got me a cocktail called "Island Bessie", my wife doesn't care for alcoholic beverages so she kept her glass of water. I asked Georgie for a couple of cherries for my drink and she obliged, they use real, dark cherries, not the fake maraschino's in a jar. For appetizers we ordered: Grilled Oysters & French Onion soup. My wife's favorite appetizer dish is the French Onion soup and she said that this is the BEST she's ever had, we I had a taste and she was absolutely right. The Grilled Oysters were out of this world, bursting with an intense flavor. For entree I opted for the Miso Sea Bass with Bokchoy, she on the other hand wanted meat and got Grilled Prime Pork Chops. Our sides were Spinach with Mushrooms and Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes. We both thought that this is what eating dinner in heaven must be like. What an exquisite & tender Sea Bass, the miss sauce gave it a flavorful touch. The Grilled Chops were so tender, juicy and delectable, the sides were superb! Morton's is an expensive, classy restaurant, but oh its worth it! The service provided by Georgie and Alex was magnificent, they are both phenomenal people. Easy, classic, steak house with all the expected accouterments. Seafood tower extremely fresh and to my surprise, the lobster tail and crab were very flavorful!!! The filet mignon was tender and nicely seasoned, miso mahi was flavorful, sweet, buttery all at the same time。Potatoe au gratin was tender and well seasoned, although the sauce could be thicker, but it did not interfere with overall taste. Their lava cake is consistent and what you expect at any steakhouse. Service was lovely, but definitely lacking in silverware replacement, proper serving technique and etc. But let's be real this is not a Michelin starred restaurant so the service was quite frankly, awesome. If you are looking for consistent and stable steakhouse with solid (not expensive and not cheap) offerings, this is definitely your spot. I had the absolute worst time for Valentine's Day at Morton's . It's was extremely crowded , the social distancing in the waiting area was not informed . I wasn't impressed with the food I'my lobster bisque soup was extremely watery . The consistency of the soup was completely off 4 of us dined and no one was ultimately happy with their food . But my biggest issue with this establishment is that i literally watched them sit ALL the African American on one side of the resturant . It's a side room on the right side of the resturant where they seated MOST of the African American people. I seen 2 other African Americans on the main floor It became so obvious at one point of the evening that 2 African American couples asked for their seats to be changed we then asked to turn on the television in the " Private room and 2staff members gave two entirely different reasons why we couldn't watch the sports games That we're playing on other monitors through out the establishment . We went to this location on national filet day at 6 pm. There was a long line to sit at the bar for the special so we requested to sit at the table and order off the menu. My husband picked up the glass of water and the bottom broke all the ice water got on his plate and pants. The server apologized and switched us to a different table. I was just in awe how it could have happened Maybe the glass was hot out of dishwasher and when they put ice water in, it cracked?? It took a while to get the food because they were busy, I'm sure dining in wet pants was very uncomfortable. When the food finally came, lobster tail was warm, steak was warm.. only the mushroom was hot. We went to this place for anniversary. This steakhouse managed to under-cooked my son's steak for Medium Well for three times. Yes, three times. How difficult is that to make a Medium Well steak? I would said that they are worst that an Outback Steakhouse. To show how little that they cared about us: I stopped by and spoke with the manager at the front desk to tell him that the steak was under-cooked three times. And the waiter and the manager promised twice that the manager would stop by to address the situation. For the two hours that we were in the restaurant, neither of the two managers stop by. Period. My first time here and I was extremely satisfied. I must say from the time I walked in to the time I left the service was great. After being seated and looking over the drink menu I ordered a blackberry mojito and a limon drop they were both really good . I didn't order any appetizers: the waiter / server Michelle was so kind and beautiful almond with the other servers . Pros: I ordered the 12oz filet mignon , the lobster Mac & cheese , the bacon brussel sprouts , and onion rings . Nowwww!!!!! The steak was MAGNIFICENT! I can tell it was good meat I mean the animal was taken very good care of lol I can also tell that it was marinated in a seasoned sauce for a while before being prepared . It was oozing with flavor and juice . When I cut into it it was so easy and not tough at all . I bit into it and the flavors just burst into my mouth . Sooo good !! Mmm mm mm . On top was the truffle butter and it was so good just dripping off of the steak and melting into my mouth . The Chef did a great JOB ! *chefs kiss* . The brussel sprouts was delicious very well prepared and the bacon mixed in gave it a nice touch . It was flavorful. And making brussel sprouts good like that is a skill ! The onion rings were amazing especially the sauce that comes on the side with them it was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside . The onion taste was calm and delicious. Also I had the oysters ! Omg the best !!! They didn't have that sea taste to them yet they were very fresh . Cons: the Mac and cheese was good but could've used more of that cheesy ness to it . I've been coming to Morton's for over 20 years and am surprised I've never left a review. Our last visit on Christmas Eve was one of the best in all that time. It was busy as expected but the service was still very good. Bread - 5 stars hot with a crispy outside and soft inside Lobster Bisque - 5 stars usually a tad salty but no so this time. Four large pieces of lobster Chopped salad - 5 stars. First time trying this on the menu. Fresh ingredients and the dressing was not too light and not overpowering Baked potato - 5 stars they get some of the largest potato's I've seen with all the accompaniments on the side. Perfectly baked with a salted skin. One of the only places where I eat the skin Shrimp Alexander - 4 stars. This is the dish that got us started originally. Not as much bread crumbs as we usually like but still a favorite Bacon wrapped scallops - 4 stars tender and flavorful Ribeyes - 5 stars all temperatures were spot on and great cuts Filet - 4 stars slightly over done on one side Truffle fries - 5 stars light and crispy Onion rings - 3 stars. A little overdone this time. Button mushrooms - 4 stars very good accompaniment Cheese cake - 5 stars My daughter loves this one Hot lava cake - 5 stars. 5 stars for an amazing meal and experience on Valentines Day! My only critique is what happened with our drinks; My girlfriend ordered a non-alcoholic beverage that is on the drink menu I ordered a blackberry mojito. When our waitress served the drinks she mixed up which drink had alcohol. I immediately noticed when I sipped my drink that it had no alcohol in it. I immediately stopped my girlfriend from drinking which turned out to be my drink. I just found out this morning from her that she is pregnant. I was very upset with the service as well as the ambiance. I took my friend to the Paramus location for her birthday last night. The hostess was very pleasant, but the waitress was rude and inattentive especially considering it was not a busy night. I still gave her a 20% tip on a $285 bill. The food was good, but not exceptional (lobster bisque, rib eye, porter house, and smoked gouda potatoes au gratin). We ordered bacon wrapped sea scallops that never came, but we were not charged for them. Prior to attendance I requested the soufflé (lava cake) for her birthday. When we were first seated, I again reminded our waitress because I know the time preparation. After we finished dinner the waitress offered us a dessert menu and I reminded her that twice I had requested the soufflé , but she told me it was not ordered and that it would take an additional 40 minutes. This was still not the motivation for my reaction. I rarely write anything about great or poor experiences, but the worst thing about this debacle was that my friend wanted to take half of her porter house home. She called me this AM when she realized they just gave her empty lobster shells. Our fault for not checking but overall this place was atrocious. We always come to Morton's to celebrate our December birthdays. Service and food have usually been great but we were shocked by what has changed. Things took much longer than usual. Restaurant was packed for a Thursday night so I think it was understaffed. Food took long, water glasses weren't filled. Staff was nice and tried their best. I will say the food was good like usual. Steak delicious and juicy and of course you must try the hot chocolate cake. We are unsure if we will come back here or try another place because of the service this time. read more

They've been here for over a decade and continue to provide top of class service. Unfortunately they don't offer valet during weekdays, so it's the parking lot or deck parking if it's raining. Our table of 7 ordered simple meals. 7 French onion soups, 6 prime ribs, 1 filet. 1 prime rib was supposed to be dry aged, and every meal was ordered medium. We waited 30 minutes for drink orders. An hour for food orders. Meals were not delivered until 2 hours had passed. The waiter never checked on us to see how things were going. 2 steaks came out were NY Strip steaks that they tried to pass off as prime rib. They pulled a switch-er-oo on which steak was supposed to be dry aged. Never asked for drink orders for the dinner. The Maitre D tried to say the strip steaks were prime rib. Not even close. One prime rib came out blue rare instead of medium. They did remove the two strip steaks from the final bill. But for a high end steak house, the overall service and quality of the experience was poor. This was on a Thursday between Christmas and New Years. Should not have been a difficult night. read more

I feel like I've been to so many different Morton's, not sure the star rating matters. Figure I'd start out with the Around the World Whiskey Flight and I was kind of upset with the Oban 14. Perhaps it was me but tasted too smokey. I like the Smokey scotches, this didn't sit right tho. The Johnny Blue was fine and the Bulleit was okay, but not my favorite. There were several bottles of wine on the table, so settled in with the Pinot Noir. We ordered the Ocean Platter for the table, knowing it would really be just for me and my youngest daughter. Well little did I know, my oldest daughter began to like seafood. She crushed the lobster and oysters, I was lucky to get a shrimp. The wife and mother in law split the Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella and no complaints. Time for the Wedge Salad, which I have yet to find a better one any where in the country. A couple bowls of Lobster Bisque and the Baked Five Onion Soup, rounded out the table. I vary when it comes to steak and a lot of it depends on the restaurant. Of course the filet is top notch, but wasn't feeling it. Plus I knew my wife and daughter would each be getting one, so I could grab from them. Went here for a 60th birthday dinner and it was great. Had a 6oz. Fillet mignon, cream spinach, parmesan truffle fries, and fried calamari. The food was excellent, the staff was accommodating as someone wanted chicken fingers and french fries. But they didn't have chicken fingers on the menu, so they breaded some chicken to accommodate the guest. I can say this was one of the better steakhouses that I went to dine at at it was worth it. Next time I come back, I look forward to ordering something different from the menu as they had other things that looked very enticing. read more

My wife surprised me for my 50th by hosting a party in one of Morton's spacious, private rooms. The manager, Joe, and staff were extremely attentive from the very second everyone yelled "Surprise!" The dinner choices included a filet or rib eye with creamed spinach and their awesome au gratin potatoes. They also accommodated my wife's request to have a lamb chops appetizer waiting just for me - that was awesome! More meat! Ha! Everything was cooked and prepared perfectly. Glasses were never empty, napkins always folded, any requests handled quickly and completely. We had around 35 people in the room and it was very comfortable seating for all, and a large TV to watch the ALCS game 7 (only bummer of the evening - our Yankees lost). My wife of 22 years is incredible for pulling this off seamlessly, and the staff at Morton's felt like friends, partaking in this milestone event for a guy not worthy of all the fuss and attention. Came to Morton's for an 8:30pm reservation on a Saturday evening. To my surprise, the place was not as crowded as I thought it would be on a weekend night. The ambiance is dim lighting mixed with cozy table and high-top seating. We sat at the bar for a drink, even though our table was ready. The drink menu is pretty extensive, while the size of the bar is on the smaller size (about 8 seats long). Even though you can transfer your drinks to your table bill, we payed at the bar and moved to our table. We were seated in a comfy booth, even though it was just two of us. Our waitress came over promptly, asking if it was either of our first times there. Since it was both of ours, she went over the dishes that they are known for as well as her favorites. We started with one of her favorites (which happened to be one I was eyeing), the Grilled Oysters. We also has the Jumbo Shrimp Alexander. Both were flavorful. I had been wanting to try Wagyu, so when I saw it as an entrée special, I figured why not. It was a 7oz Wagyu Filet Mignon with fire roasted poblano butter. I ordered it with the butter on the side as I am not a fan of spicy. I tried the steak alone, then I tried it with the butter. I don't know what I was expecting, but it left my taste buds with something to be desired. The steak flavor I was imagining just wasn't there. I tried to make up for the lack of flavor by ordering truffle butter, but even that didn't help. What a great experience! Yes you are paying a high price but you are getting amazing quality food and service. The decor mostly features low light and black and gray colors. The booth tables slid out so it was easier to scoot in, and I like having a big booth in a u-shape over two benches so I can get close to my man and it feels very isolated and private. There were also tables, but you will luck out if you have a nice comfy booth. We went for the porterhouse for two which is a lot of meat, but both the strip steak and filet mignon were so tender and juicy. It came pre-sliced so it was great to take a piece from each side as I went along. It comes with au jus or you can use the natural steak juices to soak in. For sides, the parmeasan and truffle matchstick fries tasted so good and it was so easy go for a handful of them at a time. We opted to do broccoli as a second side for a little healthier fare but was wondering how broccoli can be made to justify the price. But at first bite it was so soft and buttery and had the great parmeasan flavor on top. Every bite of this meal was so tasty that if it comes up to do on a special occasion, it's worth it! The service was also amazing and attentive. I never had to ask for a refill, it was always quickly taken care of. The waitress told us if we wanted dessert to order before we ate since it takes 30 minutes or so to prepare fresh. We went here a few months back, this is a place I think most people hold in high regard because of it's pricey menu and location. But I personally didn't see the big deal.. My family and I ordered a few items for the table, Grilled Asparagus, Creamed Spinach, Bacon & Onion Macaroni & Cheese, all just OK, nothing worth the actual cost. For our Entrees, I ordered the Chilean Seabass, my mother Shrimp Scampi, my sister and uncle orders the Center Cut Filet Mignon and Honey-Chili Glazed Salmon. Lots of food, my fish was excellent, but something felt missing..I really felt that for all the food we had. Now the service, was impeccable, the staff was always attentive and interactive. I don't really care for meat too much, but I think my sisters steak was the best of what we ordered. We closed the night out with the Hot-Chocolate cake and Souffle'. I went to heaven and came back after taking bites of that Hot Chocolate cake. Overall...I rather go to another place. read more

Excellent Food and Fawning Service with a flawed Reservation System We decided to have an upscale steak dinner so left home on Prospect Avenue and headed to Morton's at 6pm on a Sunday. We arrived around 6:30 and were asked about reservations (the restaurant had to be 75% empty at that moment based on my observation). Not having a reservation we were told that we could be seated at 8:45 pm or dine at or near the bar...(wtf?!). I asked to think about it while using their restroom. Went on Yelp to make a reservation (which takes you directly to the Morton's website) for 7pm and the app declined saying the only thing available was for 6:45 (bingo, or so I thought). Went back to the maitre d's reception area, asked for a manager and asked if they had our reservation. "Nope". Was asked for a confirmation - which I showed and was admonished "we no longer use that service for reservations, next time use open table, I'll do you a favor this time and accommodate you." Never mind that the reservation was made on THEIR website (eyes rolling). Otherwise the food was excellent, wine list outstanding, service professional but nearly obsequious. Dinner for 2 with appetizers, wine, desert, tax and a tip = $300.00 Can't wait for Ruth's Chris to open in the Bergen Town Center (although parking will be a nightmare there...) Morty could use some competition and a crash course in customer service/etiquette. read more

As a single working parent, I know the importance of work-life balance. Sometimes that means meditation, retreats, weekend getaways, no-sales tactics workshops or no pressure religious services (don't be offended, you KNOW what I mean)... Sometimes it means, I have a few hours between the time I leave work and I pick up the kiddies. That rare window of time, I find, is best used without the insanity of coordinating with loved ones. A secret escape somewhere... Anywhere really.... Morton's (Paramus) is ideally located, I pass it most times on my commute. It's never packed (it's in a mall duh), but service is on point like at every other Morton's. As a lone diner (lone is kind of a strong word)... As an independent diner, sitting at the bar is a must. The bar although cozy, is always attended to by two bartenders, so attention you will get.My meals are always on point, served at the perfect time and delicious! Oh, and there is happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30 PM and then again 9:00 PM to close. Obviously having a curfew I only care about 4:30... Errr hmmm... I mean what alcohol? I can not possibly find all the wonderful words to describe the awesome experience, I enjoyed at Mortons Hackensack location! I want to send a special thanks to Diane, who went above, and beyond to make my dining experience a special treat! I also want to "Thank" Conor for suggesting an amazingly great added bonus to my meal. The Cajun Ribeye with the jumbo lump crab, & asparagus was heavenly! The food was beyond delicious!
