I was a big fan of Morton's . I'm understanding of the COVID help crisis but this review boils down to poor corporate management. First amd for most I'm the type of customer who doesn't look at prices just want great food and service . My dinner came out last night with one of the sides not cooked proper and the other side never came out. Manager came over when they realized there was a kitchen issue, not a server issue and apologized. She offered not to charge me for what I didn't get but no other compensation for the inconvenience. Desert then took 15 plus minutes to come out for a simple bowl of berries. To top things off I opened up my Landry's app to give the server my loyalty number and I see that Corporate took away all my past points when we couldn't go out because of the lock down. I think not only was my experience with the restaurant horrible but corporate decision to do this to loyal customers was horrible. I will not share my loyalty with Landry's restaurants any more but will pass this info onto everyone I know. Time for them to own there poor decision making. I'm extremely disappointed and saddened how poor management can ruin a great restaurant. read more

I feel as though I just got robbed. Terrible decor (looked like a strip club,) everyone in the restaurant was using their cell phones as flashlights to read the menus because it was too dark, music was too loud, servers took forever to do everything from handing us menus, to serving us drinks, food, etc and ALL the steaks were undercooked and average at best. When we complained, the waitress brought the steaks back to be re-fired, it took forever, and then brought us some extra asparagus. Wow, thanks! Here's the kicker, $575.00 for that (4 adults, one child, no dessert)? What a disgrace. I could go on, and on but I'm sure nothing will change. Disgusted... Go to Ruth's Chris instead. My goodness! If you ever wanna know what it's like to bite into the juiciest, most tasteful, succulent piece of meat, then go to Morton's. I've been here a few times. More recently, for my wedding anniversary this past summer and then again last month with another couple. The steaks are cooked to perfection in my opinion. The temperature is spot on. If you ask for a medium rare, you're gonna get a medium rare. A nice evenly dispersed warm red throughout the center. True masters of "steakology"...lol...The service is on point and the servers are very attentive to detail. The sides are enormous and can definitely be shared. The au gratin potatoes and lobster Mac and cheese are my favorites. For the steak, I am partial to bone-in ribeye, so that's what I go with. Never a disappointment! read more

When to dinner to celebrate a special occasion. The three of us were seated and presented a special menu with a birthday greeting. We ordered sea scallops wrapped in bacon, cooked almost to perfection. We then ordered the steaks, two filets and one porterhouse. The sides were mashed potatoes, au gratin potatoes, and creamed spinach. The steaks were cooked to perfection and tasted unbelievable. The sides were outstanding as well. The dessert we had was key lime pie. The staff did not rush us and were very friendly. My only complaint would be to have a lower priced glasses of wine. $20/glass is a bit much. I have been eating at various Morton's for years. I made a reservation for Valentine's Day months ago on Opentable. Received a call yesterday from the restaurant saying they needed a credit card number in order to secure the reservation. I told the girl, who was probably the hostess, that I would not give my personal information over the phone, that I had no idea who she was and that they should have requested a credit card be given on Opentable if they needed one. I told her to cancel my reservation because there was no way I would give her that info. After I hung up I got so pissed that I now didn't have a reservation for Valentine's Day, 3 days before Valentine's Day. I called back and ask for the manager. Manager got on the phone and I proceeded to ask how Morton's is PCI compliant when they have customers cc info on pieces of paper. He proceeded to tell me that all customer credit card information is kept in a binder under lock and key! Is Morton's joking! In a binder! No employee should EVER have access to any customers' credit card info. And like a lock and key can't be broken into. Companies are hacked into for cc info but Morton's thinks their security over our personal information is safe in a binder! Anyway, I am reporting them to anyone I can report them to including the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs as well as the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC). How dare Morton's make their customers vulnerable!!!!!! NEVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO OVER THE PHONE EVEN IF YOU LOSE YOUR RESERVATION. read more

I took my man out for a treat to Morton's for a surprise "man date." This place was great. We got dressed up and were excited to try something new. Turns out they treated us like royalty! They pulled the table out for us to comfortably get into our booth and tended to our every need. The Cajun ribeye, horseradish mashed potatoes, and Morton's coffee were spectacular. I enjoyed my filet mignon very much! I have to say it was a better piece of meat than the filet mignon I had ordered from Bobby Flay's steakhouse in AC. As sides, we ordered the creamed spinach and truffle fries. I didn't care for the spinach. Overall, my experience there was pretty great! I don't understand the negative reviews. The only negative about this restaurant in my opinion is the prices. But we went on Memorial Day weekend and they had a fantastic deal - 3 course meal for $65. We got the lobster bisque which I did not like (was not creamy and tasted a bit bitter) but my husband thought it was ok. We both got the 6 oz filet mignon which was delicious, bacon mac & cheese (upgrade from the meal deal), creamed spinach and for dessert I got the chocolate lava cake (was not sweet enough for me) and hubby got the key lime pie which he enjoyed. The filet came alone on a big plate which was not such a great presentation - maybe add some greens on the plate to make it look more appetizing but once I took a bite I could care less because it was so tender and delicious. We also added the seafood tower as an appetizer which kind of put us over the top, but it was delicious! The onion bread was delicious. Giving two stars because the food is great, but they need to work on their service. It starts out with rude hostesses who sit behind the counter and are typing back and fourth to each other on the computers talking about patrons, thinking they don't notice. It was my birthday dinner, and my wife was ready to leave, but I did not know where else we would get a reservation on a Friday night. We were seated a 1/2 hour after our reservation time, and the whole place was running slow. I even contacted Morton's afterwards, and still have yet to hear back from them. Disappointing. read more

Went to the one in Hackensack New Jersey....Went at 6 pm on a Saturday...Nicely greeted..Took quite awhile for our server to acknowledge us or the busperson to at least bring over some water...Started with a salad which was excellent and plenty enough to share...After a very very long wait received our main course...We shared the porterhouse got two which was excellent as were the sides...3rd time at Mortons and the good is always good... read more

The nicely aged steak never disappoint here. This place isn't cheap, like any morton's or smith & wollensky. It always has the same theme, same service. I'm not a sinitra fan, but it works just fine for me. Now, if you for some reason compare the steak to a piece of meat you pay $20 for, I don't see how you should be reviewing the place. You might as well buy it in A&P and cook it at home. The aging process apparently doesn't do anything for your palat. The way I see it, they aren't making money from the $40 steak they serve you. If you come in here to have a piece of steak, you are making money already. For me, I can't stay away from the awfully expensive wine or the utterly delicious souffle. I definitely wouldn't mind letting them making some money off me. After all, where else am I going to have a piece of meat like this around here? The only thing that comes close in the north bergen area is the river palm terrace. Unfortunately the steaks there isn't aged as well. The best part about coming here instead of the city is that parking is relatively easy and it's free. I would recommend a reservation every time you think about going. My date took me to Morton's for our Christmas dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting much since I'm not a fan of the big name steakhouses around the area -- Capital Grille was such a disappointment; and Houston's, while not horrible, it is definitely not my first choice in the area. Our waitress, Claire, was very pleasant and gave good, honest recommendations. My date ordered a jumbo lump crab cake as an appetizer, which was not really 'jumbo' at all but had lots of crab and not much filler. I mean, I would hope it would be all crab considering one crab cake is priced over $18. For our entrees, we ordered the shrimp scampi and Chicago style bone-in rib eye, which were both delicious! The steak, ordered at medium-rare, was cooked perfectly and had great flavor despite there not being much sauce at all. We both thought their onion bread placed at our table was not as good as others made it out to be, but we found it to be pretty addicting as we kept eating it. In terms of atmosphere, I would definitely place Morton's higher than Houston's but lower than Capital Grille's. In terms of food, Morton blows them both out of the water. The only thing that didn't tickle my fancy was that they put too much ice in the cocktails. We ordered one appetizer, two entrees, and two drinks and the bill with tip was a little under $200. Morton's is pretty pricey, so we wouldn't go on the regular, but it is certainly a place to treat ourselves in NJ. read more

I had the 48 oz. porterhouse for two Oscar style (topped with bernaise sauce, asparagus, and crabmeat), bacon wrapped scallops, and grilled shrimp. It was all awesome. My husband and I have been coming to this steakhouse for the last 5 years. Over the last year, the quality of food has deteriorated and service has really suffered. We kept coming regardless of the service because the food was still good, however, today the steakhouse fell short in all aspects. The food is mediocre now and not what it used to be. I got a New York strip and it extremely salty. I left most of my $50 steak and the waitress just took without any concern. Basically, for the price I suggest you go to Segovia Steakhouse in Moonachie NJ better food and cheaper. We will never come back to this Morton's steakhouse location and it used to be our favorite place. read more

We decided at the last minute to have our 28th anniversary dinner at Morton's.. With a 3 hour wait, We were sure it would at least live up to one of its competitors, Ruth Chris... Not even close!!! Service was great the onion bread was good, I had a crab cake for an appetizer which was also good!!!! It went down hill from that.. The steak was just ok!!!!! It was like a average cut from my local grocery store.. Sent it back because the temperature of the steak was warm.. The plate was hotter than the steak it self!! Great service, good steaks, average food. Location: Morton's is located on the 2nd floor next to Saks 5th. Honestly, you would think this restaurant gets no business from the look outside, but once inside, boy is the place crowded. I dined her on a Saturday night with my family and everything table was occupied. There is an entrance outside of the mall as well. Food: I ordered the filet mignon for my entree. It was cooked really well as I had ordered it medium rare. The quality is good, especially for the price that you pay. We ordered mashed potatoes, lyonnaise potatoes, and green beans to share with our entrees. Don't order the green beans. It's steamed, but is swimming in butter. My mother ordered the salmon fillet, and while it was cooked well, there was nothing special about the dish. For appetizers, we ordered the ahi tuna tower, prosciutto mozzarella, and the new orleans shrimp. I did not enjoy the prosciutto mozzarella too much. They grill the prosciutto so it's really tough to bite into. The ahi tuna tower was fresh, but for what you pay, I expect a little bit more tuna in it. We also ordered the chopped spinach salad to share. It's a good sized dish to share. For dessert, we each ordered the souffle. It is baked to order, so let them know in advance if you want it. I got the grand marnier, and while it's not something I would come back for, it's wasn't bad at all. Service: Our waitress was amazing. She was very polite and friendly, and treated us really nicely. I mean for what you are paying here, I sort of expect that treatment. Our dishes came out together and timed well. There was always someone refilling our water when each meal was served. Our utensils were changed after each dish. The manager came over a few times to ask us how your meals were. Overall: Yes this place is pricey. I have been to Morton's several times with varied experiences. Sometimes a 3, sometimes a 4.5 so I am averaging as best I can. The atmosphere is nice, typical steakhouse dark wood and soft lighting. The bathrooms are clean. The service is always polite and attentive and their Lemoncello Martini is outstanding. In case you are wondering, the service was good before the drinks. The crabcakes and salads are delicious. The filet mignon tasted like old horse meat. Let me give it a better description, it tasted the way cheap leather smells. Really. I would have sent it back but it was a sponsored dinner and I was full from the appetizers, so I sent it home for my friend's dog, who liked it and didn't get sick. Most recently I went back and this time had the rib eye and it was very tasty and perfectly cooked. The desserts are great too. So, overall my experiences have been good aside from episode of funky meat. read more

When you are charging these prices you need to insure that dining experience is exceptional and the Hackensack location falls short of that expectation . I am not a big fan of eating at chain restaurants I have not been to Morton's in years and thought I would see if anything had changed. While i don't believe change is always for the best something needs to happen here. Lets start off with the positive: - drinks were good but I drink Bourbon cant mess that up and my wife had a cosmo. - I had there version of a wedge which was really good. - The staff was friendly And now what did not work, Management needs to be shaken and woken up -The poor staff was stretched to thin not enough people on the floor waited way to long in-between for drinks and 15 minutes for the check - I had a rib eye that was a salt lick in disguise, I ( should have sent it back but i took a shot and paid for it in more ways than one. it was brutally salty you could here the crunch of salt, I think they even salted the water - They need to pay the poor staff more, I hate to say it but they need better suits if you are going to charge and elevate the place, spread it around. If not let them ware jeans and bring it down a notch, it could save the place. Much better places around, if you are willing to expand your horizons, if not have fun, this place is average at best, actually below average after you look at the bill. Delicious food with a tacky ending. Attentive service and I loved my peppercorn steak, shrimp Alexander appetizer, and chocolate lava cake dessert. Lots of interesting dishes to choose from. Complimentary chocolate covered strawberries at the end. Everyone enjoyed their expensive but delicious meals BUT THEN... The waiter gave us a hard sell on some kind of Landry's Restaurants loyalty card, suggesting that we buy one for one of our guests. After such a nice meal, it really ticked us off to put us in an awkward and uncomfortable situation like that. I would think a better way might be to simply say "We have a loyalty card that offers great discounts and special deals. If you are interested, please put your email address on the form in the bill." This sour note ending makes me give 4 stars instead of 5. I would still go back but would probably tell the person taking the reservation that I do not want this sales pitch at the end of my meal if I am bringing other people there. read more

We both had the $29.50 Lunch which consisted of soup or salad, generous loaf of bread with whipped butter, chicken, steak, or seafood with mashed potatoes, and mousse or cheesecake for dessert. We each had salad; I had the chicken and husband had the steak. Finished with two coffees, and the dessert was to go. I also had bottled water and glass of wine. Husband had iced tea. The bill was $95.00, but I have one word: PERFECTION. Elegant ambiance, impeccable service, meal was delicious, and can't wait for dessert tonight. Simply put - the steak is the best around. You won't find a better piece of meat. okay - "that's what she said"...but seriously - I don't think it's worth $45-$55 dollars for a plate of just steak and then an additional 12 bucks for a friggin side dish of mushrooms. The appetizers weren't anything special either. Of course, you only get ONE jumbo lump crab cake, and to be honest, I think the garden salad at Outback was better than the salad I had here. Be prepared to sell a limb to pay for this place. Although the steak was fantastic, I don't think it's worth the amount of money to drop in one night. What a waste of my money!!!!! Never again!!! I wanted to ask the waitress if she was joking with what they served us for the price we paid. I got a piece of steak which was over cooked... chewy & dry... the size of not even a hamburger patty...on a dish w wilted arugula leaves. $45?! My friend got basically raw asparagus... her dish wasn't great by no means... we ordered a side of broccoli that was $14 and it was worth $6 in reality. Take your business elsewhere this place is a ripoff. If the food was amazing I wouldn't care about the price but it's really just an insult and like ripping money up. read more

Consumers beware!. This is NO 4 star steak house, It's exorbitantly expensive for the food you receive. For Mothers Day they offered a special menu which my 7 year old grandson ($50.00) ordered . Sorry to write his dinner was short on the amount of food he was served. The service was atrocious, we had one waiter that keep adding his own comments to our table conversation. How rude!
