I ordered some Fatty Brisket, pulled pork, plain wings with sauce on the side. 1Lb of Ribs and traditional macaroni and cheese. The portions are generous and all of the meats were extremely tender. My goodness those ribs were amazing with every bite, the meat literally just falls right off the bone. Everything was good, nothing was amazing. Three of us came for brunch and shared the Holy Trinity Platter with a large Bacon Mac 'n Cheese and side of coleslaw. It was the perfect amount for 3 of use to share, with extra mac to bring home. The Platter came with Brisket (we chose Fatty), Ribs, Sausage and cornbread. - The brisket was the best, the sausage was good but nothing special, and the ribs were a bit dry. The cornbread was corn- moist and buttery. But nothing had standout flavor or smokiness. The coleslaw was a bit too wet - again, fine but not great. The Mac and cheese was probably the best thing on the table - perfectly cheesy without feeling too gut-stickingly heavy. Had a nice 'crust' on top too. But you can get just the mac at the Elbow Room window next door too. Overall, seems like a nice place for a casual meal in the neighborhood and good spot to watch sports games (2 big TVs in the front bar area playing Sunday games). Absolutely terrible service. Took almost 20 minutes to get water. Waitress didn't refill soft drink requests either. Had to go to bar to ask for them. So I mentioned to my friend that it is restaurant week he asked me to send him the link so he can choose a place which he did. He chose this really cool, laid-back barbecue joint in Brooklyn so kudos to him :) Upon arrival our waitress asked us where we wanted to sit, we decided to sit in the front since the breeze was blowing so nice through the open ceiling to floor windows. We both decided to order their smoked wings. He got the barbecue and I got the buffalo, which were both delicious. For our main course, we both decided to get the Morgans Cobb salad, which also was delicious it came with grilled chicken boiled egg, avocado and real bacon, bits with blue cheese crumbles, which I absolutely love. My friend said he really enjoyed the real bacon bits. He could tell that it was not from a jar or shaker from the grocery lol. And for dessert we both got the Molten Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream that we have both devoured. Oh yes, and I can't forget the waitress mentioned to us about possibly trying there Frozen Bourbon Lemonade. I was a little skeptical because I'm not a drinker nor do I do dark liquor, but I am a sucker for frozen drinks so my friend got one and I tasted it first before ordering my own and it definitely tasted great and kept me cool :) All in all, we enjoyed our lunch, and I do recommend this spot. I at first didn't want to go here. I didn't thinks getting on the menu sounded appetizing for me. But eventually I didn't want to give my mom a rough time searching for another spot and we were tired. So I caved and we came. I knew what I was going to get even though I wasn't the most thrilled about it. When we got there, we sat outside since it was nice out. The waiter was SO kind and funny. I appreciated him so much I just wish I got his name. We got our food out fast and much to my surprise it really thrilled me! I got the fried chicken sandwich with french fries. I've walked past Morgan's but have never gotten the chance to go in. Spring time is here and what better time to explore new eats in my city. Came for a late birthday celebration for myself . My friend was raving about happy hour so we met up. I was excited. Upon walking in it was a fairly decent size. The happy hour is just at the bar fyi. My friend was already seated sipping a beer. He is familiar with the staff and was having some type of convo with the female bartender. She didn't give a smile or greeting when I got there. Definitely not the friendly type throughout the night. Never even offered us water when the food came. My friend stated this was a normal thing with her. I think that should be something she works on. Drinks- the happy hour was beer and one drink apparently. I never saw the drink menu. However the only cocktail offered was a ice tea mixed with Bourbon. I got two. One was strong other not. Inconsistent. Food- my friend ordered his normal things so we could share. Happy hour is half off appetizers. Very good deal. We got naked wings, which were ok. They were crispy. Brisket nachos, which were over done and very few pieces of brisket. My friend said this is the worst batch he's had and that they are usually better. Some of the nachos were so charred. I wasn't a fan. The jalapeno cornbread was cold and not what I like. The best thing was the candied bacon. Delicious! All in all I would give them another try and order different things. Glad you are back! But, you're not ready. Your staff has no clue about the menu. Train your staff. Your wine list is missing and 4 days in you are out of wines. The list of bourbons is inaccurate. The portions have shrunk and are very overpriced compared to other places. The fries were on point. Everything else was just ok. Also, it would be great to have some kid friendly options that aren't a large container of Mac n cheese. Spending fifteen dollars for a 5 yo to eat is a bit much. Great location, really nice storefront and seating options. Super attentive servers and bar staff. Check out the specials/happy hour at the bar seating spots as if you sit there at certain times you get discounts on some drinks and sides. We tried the Three Pigs platter, lots of meat but overall were super unimpressed with the quality of meat and flavors. Had to add a bunch of extra sauce on the pulled pork to revive it - it was so dry. The pork belly and ribs were good. Just surprised at the quality for the price. $37 or so for the platter we expected to be blown away. I am consistently given an inadequate amount of BBQ sauce with my delivery. The truth is that the Morgan's experience is wildly different without sauce - especially when you are talking about leftovers. To be clear, I'm mad because the BBQ sauce is actually really great - they offer two different varieties. So while I could buy another brand from the store, ideally I'd just like it included with my order. I have been a patron since 2015 so obviously it is quality food & enough to bring me back but the experience has wavered over time. And while I'm here, fam, there are too many stalks in the collards. Not the best bbq but very good nonetheless. The location and outdoor seating are a huge plus. Service is always good here. No complaints. I heard that they're known for their Mac and cheese. The ribs are awesome. You really don't need sauce with them but the sweet sauce is the best compliment to them in my opinion. The candied bacon is delicious and a new favorite! The bourbon pecan pie is good but I expected it to have a bourbon taste and it didn't. Definitely more pecans than filling which I like. The bacon Mac was pretty good as well. Definitely check out Morgan's! Had delicious smoked wings with Buffalo sauce and blue cheese. They were smoked but nice and tender. I haven't tasted Buffalo sauce this way and I can't put my finger on it but it was SO good and the house made blue cheese dressing is a great compliment. I like that it's not a super blue cheese taste but it's a good balance. We also had the Morgan's cheeseburger which was perfectly cooked with French fries. My hubby added candied bacon to his burger and I had to have some and it was pretty tasty. If you are partial to a sweet cocktail like me, you have to try the Texas Two Step. What's not to Love?! Great food, service persons that are very personable, helpful and on the ball. Cool decor - down home and subtly stylish. I've eaten here 3 times and every meal has been great - even some visiting self-proclaimed barbecue snobs loved the food. Faves include the Brisket, the candied bacon (Big Yum!) , the Pork Belly. Sides are all solid - collards, Mac and Cheese, and a very nice potato salad. Last visit they had a terrific special - Pastrami - smoked to perfection - very tender and tasty. Whisky drinkers will appreciate the great selection. I'm a Rye guy - and was very happy with the 20-some choices. Bourbon folk will be even happier - with more than 50 options. Nice selection of tap beer too. I'm looking forward to the opening of their outdoor dining very soon I hope. We received our order minus a main meal. I called the restaurant, the manager was lovely. Gave me two options. Credit the missing meal, which wasn't an option as it was my son's dinner or...Order something small from the menu and they will send that small item, plus the missing meal and a complimentary dessert. As they don't have their own delivery guy I had to order something to get Uber Eats to deliver. So with the cheapest thing being corn bread $3.95 plus the delivery fees, their error cost me an additional $14.95. The food did arrive quickly but whomever packed it put the coleslaw upside down and the liquid was all over the bag, covered the meal and soaked the corn bread. And after all that the three pig's meal was flavorless and dry. The 2 stars were for the glazed ribs that were good and the quick delivery. My hubby had the cheese steak also dry and flavorless. A BBQ place not sending BBQ sauce with their meals is so ridiculous. They have an option to add utensils for every food item, which I chose, and yet was given zero utensils. But then to also get a plate of FAT instead of the pulled pork I ordered, and I mean an entire plate of fat, well that was just the cherry on top. $70 for two meals to have this experience? I tried the fatty brisket first dipped it in the barbecue sauce it was $19 for four pieces but let me tell you this meat melts in your mouth dip it in the barbecue sauce you're in heaven!! It's soooo worth the $19 whoever smoked this meat deserves a tip and more.. The smoke wings were pretty good when you dip them in the sauce and their blue cheese dressing was really amazing it was blue cheese blended through the dressing it wasn't just little dab a blue cheese like no other blue cheese dressings. I've been to Morgan's twice now trying different things and can say I'm not much of a fan. The first time I went I got their wings . The wings are huge . Definitely the biggest wings I've had in a restaurant and I don't think that's a good thing . Unusually large pieces of chicken is a turnoff for me because I usually associate it with added hormones etc . Either way, the taste was just ok and the texture wasn't as I'd like. I'd prefer wings that I could tear of the meat in one bite and has some crispiness . It felt more like eating a piece of chicken like a breast or thing versus a wing . The second thing I tried was their fatty brisket . Now I've had some bomb brisket so I know what to look for and this is more or less average . To start , it was a touch salty where I could actually taste it . The brisket also looked very much and had a similar texture to roast beef which I didn't like . Fatty brisket shouldn't have that kinda semblance . The taste wasn't bad at all but doesn't hold up to the standards I've had . Fatty brisket should almost melt in your mouth and you should want to eat the fatty parts which wasn't accomplished . Morgan's should be decent enough for most people . For picky BBQ eaters like myself , you might find it lacking some . Mighty Quinn's , John Browns, Hometown etc are all better options IMO . read more
