Morgan is one of the fancier restaurants in downtown Lee. We were a little skeptical at first since the decor looked kinda old school and we'd heard it was a little stuffy. Not so! Despite the stodgy decor, the food here is pretty good, the young waitstaff friendly and accommodating, and the menu has some fresh and innovative items. Live piano music during peak season. Pricey but not outrageous. I was really into this place last year - they had a good chef and all. Last time I went it was just so-so. Maybe just because the summer season hasn't started up yet, but for now I'm downgrading it to 3 stars. We'll see. read more

I dragged my mother in here one torrential day on a trip out to Rhinebeck. What other reviewers call stodgy and dated decor felt like home to me. The painted walls and ancient lighting make you feel a little warmer and cosier inside when it's cold and wet outside. Service was fantastic. Food was old-school excellent without being expensive. We came for sandwiches and ended up having salad and desert too. Nothing edgy, but all the New England comfort foods with healthy choices to boot. read more

I am awarding two stars instead of one because the ambience of Morgan House seemed nice, and the dishes that were whizzing by our noses sure looked lovely... Woulda been nice to actually EAT some of that food, but after two unsuccessful attempts, it was plainly clear that the Morgan House was not interested in our business... We showed up for lunch on the day after Christmas, which is a federal holiday this year. I'd call that a plainly forseeable reason for an increase in business. Long story short: They were understaffed and completely unprepared for this... Despite 2/3 of the restaurant being empty, we were told we would "have to wait 5-10 minutes to be seated, because the kitchen was backed up." They couldn't just SEAT us? They had to relegate us to the BAR? Please... totally unacceptable service. After waiting more than 10 minutes to be shown a chair, god forbid, the waitress comes over, and tells us that two of the lunch menu items were not being offered, one of which was a dish we were planning on ordering... We'd had it. We left, and went to Salmon Run down the street (great choice, btw). Despite this egregious episode of incredulous events, we actually decided to go back on Tuesday for dinner to give them a second chance. They were CLOSED! Unreal. Now i know a lot of restaurants are closed on Tuesdays, but in a ski town during the week between X-mas and New Year's? That's just plain stupid... We won't be back a third time. On a whim we stopped at Morgan House for lunch , and it turned out to be a very good choice. The ambiance is that of a friendly historic home/inn right on Main Street in Lee. We started our meals with a side salad ($5) and the soup du jour which was a creamy squash soup ($6). The salad was fresh with a good mix of greens, and the soup was delicious; not too heavy with a full flavor of lightly seasoned squash and just the right touch of creaminess. A nice dish. For our main courses we had the fish and chips; lightly battered and perfectly fried with no greasiness and a very good sized portion ($15). The only downside was that it came wrapped in paper, which is totally fine except the fries were also in the paper and they became slightly steamed taking away some of the crispiness. An easy fix. The beet salad was excellent. Quartered beets marinated to just the right level of tang served with goat cheese, bacon bits, and candied walnuts. ($12). Plenty filling as a main course. Although the desserts looked great, we passed because we had plenty to eat. Worth a stop. We will certainly return. read more

Uninspired menu. The burger was dry and lacked in flavor. Service was so slow I had to get up and retrieve my server several times to have my water glass refilled (food was extremely salty). I took the family here because we were in Lee around dinner and we had never eaten here before. For the most part I enjoyed my meal. Our food was good and not overly expensive. Negatives, our table was very narrow and my son's knees and mine regularly hit each other. The table was also in front of the kitchen which was a bit disruptive. We did show with no reservation and they seated us right away so I can't really complain about the table. Service was ok, the waitress seemed a bit hard of hearing, nevertheless our food came correctly. She offered little explanation for any of the dishes. Wonderful food and great atmosphere. We started with the sage polenta and it was very good. I had the meat loaf sandwich, which was also excellent. I also tasted the turkey sandwich, which our waitress described as "a whole turkey dinner in one sandwich." It did not disappoint. The building is historic, but the restaurant is not resting on their laurels. Definitely a place to visit and a place to go back. Our service was excellent. As for the food, there's not much in this town, so doubt be fooled by the high star ratings. We've eaten here over the years but this was the first time since Covid. There's been many changes in the area because of the pandemic. I have to say, the food was really good! I wanted fish and chips but they were out. I really hadn't thought about a plan b, so I ordered a burger. Well, it's likely the best burger I've ever had!! First, I like my beef on the more rare side (and most places won't do it because of the highly dangerous practice of consuming undercooked meat that I've been doing since I was a kid). They actually cooked my burger perfectly! The fries served with it were also the best I've eaten. Crispy and well flavored. My boyfriend had a chicken pasta dish that was also very good. Cocktails were not too expensive. We liked it so much we went a second time the week we were there! Highly recommend! read more

Our dinner at the Morgan House was mediocre to poor. My half duck was so overcooked it was ridiculous. My only thought was ....this tastes like a leftover from when? Reheated in a microwave? so chewy, dried out. And the Gran Marnier? Evaporated long ago. My husband's pot roast was acceptable comfort food. Our last disappointment was the cranberry bread pudding. A very small serving for $8.00...dry, not much taste. Can't believe how popular this restaurant is on the Yelp listing....we must have hit a very bad day. read more

Having been fortunate enough to experience delicious meals in many Michelin-starred restaurants in our hometown of Manhattan, I can honestly say that my husband and I rank the food at the Morgan House as some of the best we've ever had. We make it a habit of eating here every time we vacation in the Berkshires, which is several times a year. The service is always prompt, the ambiance inviting, and the meals fantastic. Ventured here on an attempt to avoid rest area food along The Mass Pike. The atmosphere is quaint and welcoming. The service staff and hostess were polite and helpful. The vegetable soup and chowder were both fresh and delicious! Probably the best veggie soup I've had in a restaurant! With two small children there was an ample children's menu and their food arrived quickly. My mother and I both ordered the turkey dinner. We agreed it was the best we've had in a restaurant! Had a very nice dining experience at the Morgan House! The decor was a little dated but I felt that is what made it so cozy. We were seated right away and given a table right by the window. The menu is very nice and I found the prices very fair for the quality of food they serve. We had the Fillet Mignon with asparagus and whipped potatoes and everything was prepared perfectly! The steak was just the way I asked it prepared and it could actually melt in your mouth! The meal came with a salad, I do wish it was larger but the ranch dressing was the best I ever had! The dessert list is very nice too and I forced myself to have a piece of carrot cake. It was delicious and full of walnuts. Overall I give Morgan House a 9 out of 10. I would have given it a 10 if the salad wasn't so small but I still left very satisfied and filled!!! read more

I was in Pittsfield visiting my sister and had been driving all around creation and back running errands. Stopped in because we were hungry and it was the first thing we saw that wasn't a fast food joint... we were very pleasantly surprised. She has a burger that looked absolutely fantastic and polished if off (which she almost never does) because it was so delicious. I had the chicken mac and cheese and it was amazing. I can't say enough about how wonderful the food was. It was midday and we had more errands to run so we didn't indulge in drinks from the bar, we just had tea instead. Our waitress wasn't overly talkative or friendly but she was polite and attentive. The service was spot on and overall it was a wonderful lunch. Way better than what we expected and not expensive. Isnt run properly. One guy says 20 mins, next guy says the wait is an hour. Come back in 5 mins, ask to split the party, giy says we have nothing. Tell him we were just here, then he says hold on, and then we are seated immediately. Seriously...no seriously...WTF?????? Know your restaurant. Ordered the special. Theyre out of it. At 6 pm. Out of the freaking special. There are 5 tables of people while we eat and 10 with reserved cards but empty. The ENTIRE time we are there. What the living *** is wrong with this picture???. They have no clue how to run a restaurant. Meal comes, small portion. No taste. Beans are bland, potatoes are bland, steak, a petit filet, which is supposed to be 6 oz, is more like 3. Ordered it medium, shows up well done. I asked to give the check to me as soon as I sat down, waiter gives it to the other table at the end!! This place is the WORST!!! I wont return. I stopped here for lunch with three others on our way to a show in Lenox. My mother's friend, who we were traveling with, had been here before and recommended it. It was late afternoon, after lunch hours, so we nearly had the restaurant to ourselves. It has all the ambiance and charm of a traditional New England inn. We ordered off the lunch menu which I was impressed with as sometimes lunch menus can be limited. There were lots of options at reasonable prices. The four of us split the nachos, which was offered as a meal, not appetizer. They were delicious. Crispy chips and loaded with all the fixins' including an amazing chili..YUM! We were all satisfied after this starter but we had each already ordered individual plates. I got a side salad, knowing I would be pretty stuffed after the nachos. There's not much to say about a side salad but it was good. My mother and sister got the Morgan House salad, similar to a waldof, which they said was just right after our appetizer. My mother's friend got a sandwich (turkey I believe) which she was also very satisfied with. We split an order of sweet potato fries that were very good. The waitress was very attentive and charismatic. She started off by telling us to leave room for dessert because the special was a blueberry bread pudding what was phenomenal--more like out of this world! Warm, rich, sweet but also tart..the best bread pudding I've ever tasted! Placed on top of melted white chocolate...delicious!! I hope this is kept on the menu because it will be a staple in my meal when I visit here again. All in all, this is a great place. Chalkboard out front suggested their Bloody Mary. It was perfect. On the Specials menu was a Swordfish BLT sandwich. I don't eat bacon, so I asked them to omit that. In fact, I ended up eating it w/o the lettuce & tomato, too. The swordfish... was fabulous - cooked to perfection. We were on a road trip and stopped in Lee for lunch. I'm so glad the sandwich shop near the highway only took cash - we were forced to look for something else. When I looked on yelp I found this a minute or two away - wow! What a difference a mile makes! In the heart of the quaint downtown area, the Morgan House Inn sat waiting for us. We went into the empty place and were immediately told to take any seat we wanted. We sat at the front so we could see the activity of the main street. After a couple of questions about the menu we were thrilled to know everything was made in house. Clam chowder had my husband smiling. The burger and fries we shared were the best I've ever had. I don't know how in the world a burger can be so hot - never had anything like it in my life. The bun was even hot - it wasn't a plate trick, the plate was room temperature. The fries were fresh cut. Everything was perfect. Our server was very nice to me - giving me tips on local shopping when my husband had to do some business. I would move in if I could! Do not miss this place!
