We have been coming to Moreno's for a long long while. They have amazing tacos especially the carnitas! My husband tried the fish tacos today for the first time and loved them as well. They have a hard working staff. Sometimes service will be slow when they're super busy but for the most part they are good about getting things to you in a timely manner. I went with a friend. Several waitress without a mask. When I asked Javier why he was not wearing a mask he said a month ago I tested negative. Besides moreno's does not have a policy about a mask. Later I asked other waitresses and they told me yes I could ask Javier to wear one. Javier was very very rude and he did le me I am not the only one not wearing a mask. I looked around nd he was correct. He never gave me the choice of asking me do you want me to wars a mask. He is was just preaching why he was not wearing one. I just read an article of waitresses being asked to wear a mask, work even if they are COVID positive. I will call management about what it you of policy they have. read more

Oh my I have "NO" words what just happen to what was a traditional taco Tuesday at Moreno's restaurant, Unbelievable that we were attacked verbally from the owner as she claims, as we have noticed, on many reviews through other SM, she inherited the restaurant from her father, along with her siblings. It has been very challenging for my husband and I to attend the restaurant to put aside that the food was so quite satisfying, by the treatment we would watch her treat the employees, needless to say she had no idea that I may look American, but being Latin is my first language. It breaks my heart that she bullies her employees, and would have the audacity to attack a customer for not wanting to spend $12.98 for a kids, bean and cheese burrito à la cart .. she was angry at the fact we ask them to just the kids being and cheese burrito, you would've figured it was coming out of her monthly house payment. With this said, I deeply regret we will no longer ever attend nor our family or friends this establishment if she is this nasty to her employees and customers, I can imagine what she does to the food! read more

Okay. This place is AMAZING. i've lived here all of my life and I have no idea how I haven't been here sooner! Someone recommended this place to me and I am SO happy I stopped by tonight. I ordered 3 chicken tacos and 3 carne asada tacos. Alongside with beans, rice and guacamole. We got SO much food and it was so fresh and delicious!! It was a very busy evening on the patio, but they still accommodated our 10 person group (The Warrior's Society) with same day reservations. The lights, trees, flowers and decor create a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. It's nice knowing there are heat lamps for colder weather. The food is extremely reasonable in price, plentiful and delicious. The margaritas were big and tasty! The waiters were attentive and entertaining. It was a wonderful experience! Only good thing about tonight was how nice our server was. Everything else was shit. Over heard party next to us say their husband was the owner of the building or something like that, don't know the legitimacy of that, but if it was true, they allowed their kids, and their party's kids run around screaming. It was extremely annoying and ridiculous. It made enjoying my "food" incredibly difficult. Food came out bland, dry and tasteless. The service is always good, the staff are friendly, their other food is also good but we mostly come for the tacos. We absolutely love their patio!! My fiancé and I went here for dinner, and I was quite surprised by this place! I always drove by here, but never dined here. The place was surprisingly pretty big and the courtyard was so pretty! We came here on a weekday, so it wasn't busy at all, and we got a table almost right away. The portion of the food was huge and I couldn't finish mine, so i took the rest of my meal home. A good experience here. The spot itself is really cool. A big patio with lots of vegetation, heaters, and umbrellas. I can't speak to the interior, but I'd come back just for the patio. The service was great. My server was super friendly and attentive. Bloody Mary was solid and spicy. The salsa they bring out with the chips is some of the best I've had (also on the spicy side). To be fair I will only base this review on the bakery since I have never been to the restaurant and after this experience I don't intend to. We purchase a dozen tamales for $25 6 chicken and 6 raja, at first sight they looked decent but after opening them and tasting them, all 7 of us women soon realized these tamales were disgusting. We called the bakery and spoke to Liliana, (who later we found out from the owners daughter that her name is Lili) she blamed us for the masa being hard saying that we picked up the tamales late! No Lili, the tamales were picked up at 8:30 a.m. like we said we would, she said that because we picked them up late the masa and the cheese turned hard! Are you kidding me?! All the women who ate the tamales are Hispanic! Girl we know our tamales and these are gross! After telling me that she has never received a complaint about "her tamales" and telling us that we would only get the money back for the tamales we didn't eat I went over to our office trash and started getting out all the pieces since this is where they ended up! Ok so we get to Morenos bakery with the tamales and we ask for Ms. Liliana, who conveniently is not in, a lady name Dulce behind the counter, refuses to give us our money back, saying that she knew we were coming but no one said we would get a refund!!! We ask her that we need to speak to her boss but she refuses to call them saying "I called them and they can't come to speak with you, they are busy with customers!" Excuse me! What are we Dulce?! We are customers too!!! To make this review short, we had to go to the restaurant and find the owners ourselves and explain what happened! Yes after much arguing, we ended up getting our money back and wasting an hour of our lunch time. As you will see in the pictures the cheese looked like a piece of tofu! And the masa was harder than hard! Just an FYI there was a few men outside the bakery drinking and as we were talking to Dulce one of them came in to purchase a six pack of beer, for a minute we thought we were at a 7-11! Decided to take a friend to lunch today at Morenos We were greeted by a women seated at the front cash register that was so rude and condescending. She immediately informed us we hadn't paid attention t the sign on the outside door directing to check in with the hostess outside before being seated. The outside area was roped off and we entered through the front door of the restaurant not noticing the signs. We wanted to be seated inside, we felt like real fools as she continued to mention we didn't pay attention to the signs. It wasn't busy, we didn't do anything intentional and it sort of put a damper on our happy day! She has been a bitch all of her life, I haven't been to the restaurant for a number of years because of her poor attitude. This wonderful Mexican restaurant called - Moreno's sure has a special place in my heart, as I've had many great meals here with good friends over the years when I would come up to L.A. for work. Located in Orange, CA, Moreno's has awesome décor, & ambiance. Seating is available inside the restaurant, but through the years I've come here, I've always sat outside under the cover of those cool looking trees. Last week Friday was very special for me, as it's been awhile since I've dined at Moreno's, and meeting up with some good friends only capped off my night! The food here is authentic Mexican, portions are very generous, and there is a live Mariachi band that goes around the tables to play music for you. I'm not sure if the band plays during lunch time, as all the times I've come here, it was always for dinner, and that's when I see the Mariachi band. The Friday night I came here, I ordered a taco plate (you get two huge tacos) with beans & rice. You can choose the type of meat you want for your taco, and of course I got the chicken. My taco's were packed to the brim with flavorful marinaded chicken, lettuce, & cheese.........drop some hot salsa on the taco's, and whalaa you have the perfect tacos!!! Complimentary chips & salsa was dropped off to our table when we got seated, and also a cup of peppers was included too. Service here was outstanding, as the waiter was very attentive. TIP = If you choose to come here, reservations are highly recommended, as this place gets real packed! Although Moreno's has a pretty big private parking lot, this place sometimes can be challenging in finding a parking space. This was my first time at this restaurant, I have a friend who lives in the area that has been trying to get me to come here from many years. A big part of our friendship is that we go to Mexican restaurants and drink margaritas and I have to tell you this is one of my new favorite places to go. The service was absolutely amazing. The waiter staff was absolutely awesome. The food was really good, the margaritas were fantastic and the environment at this particular location is so much fun because you're outdoors underneath the lights enjoying the beautiful weather. Came today for lunch, brought a friend who'd never been here before, so was excited for them to try it. Had our usual, Chile verde. It was awful. No flavor at all, dry, and the chile verde was what seemed to be raw pieces of green chile. The plate even looked sad when it was brought out. Have been coming here for many years and it's never been this bad. No wonder the parking lot was practically empty, with only a handful of patrons inside the restaurant. I'm usually here most Taco Tuesdays but after a recent run in with Linda, I'm not sure how often these folks will be seeing me or my family to be honest. I'm usually in the bar, but they've closed down bar service on Taco Tuesdays for some reason. So I'll slide in, grab my tacos togo and finish a cold Modelo before rolling out. Today I had an important business call that came in right as my daughter was finishing her ice water, I pulled out some chips to finish and handed my daughter a small triangle of Quesadilla... Linda had the nerve to shout at me from about 20 feet away at the cashier booth, "Sir! Sir! You cannot eat here!!" "Sir, sir, if you order To-Go, you cannot eat here!! " While I was on the phone with an important client! You'd think something was burning in the kitchen the way she was yelling at me!! I quickly indicated to my client that I had to go, as I was being harassed as a patron for munching some chips and handing my daughter a slice of cheese. For as many times as I've seen Tony and Arturo at the bar, the many birthdays, graduations, and post El Modena volleyball games, and thousands of dollars of my hard earned money here at Moreno's, I was appalled at the way the my daughter and I was treated by Linda this evening and it truly makes me feel like we never want to come back and spend a dollar. read more

Hubby took me out for motorcycle ride on a warm Sunday and told me this place had THE Best crispy tacos. I was a little bit upset that he never took me here given that we have been together for over 10 years... makes me wonder what else he's been hiding... but I digress... I don't know why the reviews are so low but the tacos seemed on point, great chips and salsa... awesome wait staff (at least on the Sunday we went) . Not sure if I could ask for more. It's classic cantina style Mexican food. Way better than El Torito or Acapulco. Not sure if that's going to sway you but it's good when you want to eat Mexican food at a sit down restaurant. Had a dinner for 25 in patio. Waitress Christina and Benjie were the best!. Both were So helpful and patient with our group. I brought a cake and they cut and served it. They were very attentive and helpful throughout. Food was great as well as drinks. Highly recommend the cadillac margarita and best of all guests were able to pay separate checks. I hadn't been back to Moreno's for years and then I remembered why! Mexican food is one of my favorites and it really is hard to mess up tacos, taquitos, salsa ..... But, besides not much flavor, our meals were okay. However, the service was the worst! First it took forever to figure out who our server even was! Once she arrived, she asked if we wanted drinks of which we declined, but said we're ready to order. She said she would have to be right back. Another several minutes passed when we had to flag her down to just order. It was after the lunch rush (1:30) and thought this won't take long. OMG! A runner finally brought out our food, except for the soup. She never showed up again until we were finished with our food (never received the soup!). She put down our check and walked away. I met some friends who used to live in Orange County a long time ago, for lunch. We sat in the patio area which was quite peaceful and lovely. The waiter we had was very humorous. I had the carnitas Mexican pizza. It was amazing! I could only eat have of it because I may have eaten too many chips and salsa. Not a big fan of this place, however we come here every few years because my husband loves it. He grew up coming here with his parents so I realize there is a sentimental connection. Over the years I have tried several menu items. I have since switched my lifestyle to mostly plant-based and while I can eat here, there is a limitation. Just an all-time favorite!!!!! Anybody that loves hard shell (or soft shell) tacos needs to go to Morenos!!! Actually, the entire menu is unbelievable, from the abundaguus soup to the tostadas, it just does not matter! There is so much cheese on the tacos, you will fall over and die. I've had just about everything on the menu, and I can tell you, whatever you order you'll be extremely happy with, and the rice and beans! The owner, Mr. Merino, is also fantastic. He and his family run the place and they are very attentive. Always coming outside to engage their guests and see how they're doing. Oh, did I not tell you about the outside patio?!
