It's has everything you need. SERVICE (Rating 4) Not quite the vibrant smile and welcome of In&Out or 5 Guys, but everyone was nice and helpful. I never saw them again after the order and while you usually don't at burger joints, if they're interested in a 5 star on service, they need to. CHEESE BURGER (BYO) (Rating 4.75) The ingredients are great! They make their own buns (as I understand it) in store and the quality of the lean beef is evident in taste. I eat a lot of burgers. Seriously, I do. Don't believe me, check out my ig @baconforyoureyes now that my shameless plug is out of the way, I'm also on a 3 month gym and diet roll and I still managed to visit Mooyah 3x in 10 days. I'm sure I royally screwed my diet but it is THAT good. I feel the closest comparison is Shake Shack, they both use potato rolls btw. I'm not big on overly complicated burgers so I've been sticking to their regular cheeseburger or what they call the Mooyah burger. This place is relatively new and on a recent visit back in 2019 I sat down after ordering a burger (really one of the better burgers I have had recently) order od fries (promoted by the staff as unbelievable and really good fresh cut fries(this is true that they fresh cut them right in front of you and then fry them up) however they are not the best the NcDonalds directly across the parking lot (actually usually has better fries than MOOYAH) Shakes are not well done here I wanted to like this place so much and other than the staff HUGE KUDOS staff alone gets 5 stars) and the burger is the real star here. Visited this spot around the summer twice last year. Wanted to see what all the hype was about since my dad mentioned this burger joint so many times. He lives in Dallas so I had no idea they even had locations out in SoCal. The burgers are loaded with flavor, the fries are good, and the refreshments don't disappoint. I grab iced tea so at least they have that since I'm not really a soda drinker. In my opinion these burgers beat Five Guys and In N' Out. Fries are comparable to the fries at the Island's chain. They're better than five guys for sure. Burgers are good. Meat is good quality for the price point, but the buns are baked freshly in house! 4 stars for the burger. Burgers taste very fresh. Shakes were decent. 3.5 stars. Service was very friendly, and they weren't very busy the times I went. Plenty of parking in the large center it's located in. They also have a salad that they can put a burger patty on (or chicken) instead of lettuce-wrapping, which I like a lot better that lettuce-wrapped burgers. I cannot believe this is a place you can franchise yet there is only one in Orange County. Mooyah is absolutely delicious and sits among that grey area between fast food and quick service along the likes of The Habit and Five Guys but this is now most definitely my favorite. Keeping with the confusion of where to place this establishment, I am going to do my best to keep this review shortish and sweet. Boom, lets chomp into the burger. The meat tastes very high quality and is cooked just right. It also has the texture of a hand formed patty sitting on top of an artisan bun, which is nice element in this environment. You get to pick your cheese, pick from a variety of sauces, and bonus cherry on top, fried onion strings are a free topping. They also have the "pay the price" extras such as bacon and avocado. This is where I feel it one ups its counterparts by being so customizable and dare I say gourmet. Yelper Jessica G. can confirm I quoted the meat as the baby sister to Umami. If you make it a combo, you will be blessed with a heavenly amount of fries. It is enough to share but sharing sucks because you always want a handful more since they are delicious as well. At the end of the meal you are not only full and extremely satisfied whilst not spending a fortune. I would make this my go to burger shop if there were more locations. What a mess! I mean the burger it's all over my fingers dripping with sauce the way a real burger should be! I'm lucky to eat at this place the first week of it being open. I ordered the turkey burger and fries, and it was absolutely wonderful! The burger was made fresh to order off the menu where you pick all of your condiments and vegetables to be added to customize your own burger. The white bun served with the burger was gourmet style, soft and extremely good. The french fries are thick cut with peel still on, and were excellent. The service was fantastic. The person taking my order was gracious and patient and nice. When they picked up my empty tray I was table touched and asked if everything was okay, and if I like the food. My husband and I convinced my parents to leave their normal rotation of restaurants and we tried MOOYAH. The rotation has expanded! My dad liked his hot dog while the rest of us enjoyed hamburgers. We also added a milkshake because it's in the name so why not! The milkshake is more the type that you would eat with a spoon than drink with a straw. SOLID! I've been here 3x within the month of October (it's that good LOL) and every time we've eaten here the food has been on point and just as good as the other times! I'm not sure if I found anything special about this place. Service here was impeccable though so I will give them that. Cookies n' Cream Shake: Shakes are always good especially with Oreo. The shake was very creamy and milky so this was obviously a plus. Burger: We were able to customize their burgers which was a plus for my bf. The Mooyah sauce was nothing more than Thousand Island dressing. Maybe I'm missing something but it was whatever. The meat wasn't very proportional to the bun so I had more bread than meat. Sweet Potato Fries: Very good portion for the price. It was delicious and fried to perfection. Not really much to report. First off, I don't review many places but for this place it was a must. Service was exceptional for this type of restaurant. Greeted coming and going, food was brought to me, and my table was cleared. While self service is the norm, the staff took the extra effort to make sure I was taken care of. Now onto the main event. *PRIVATE PARTY TESTING* Food: Mooyah Burger (beef burger, tomatoes, grilled onions, multigrain wheat bun) and fries with a sweet tea (fountain). First of all, the customer builds their own burger, which is quite nice because one isn't obliged to eat specific ingredients they may not like and allows for customization with personal favorites. It's also smart on the business side of things as the company won't be wasting product on customers who take ingredients out of the food. With my choices (see above) I was quite satisfied with my meal as the "Never Frozen USDA Beef Burger," paired with the multigrain wheat bun, wonderfully fell apart in my mouth. I prefer grilled onions to not be as saucy, but nonetheless it was still enjoyable. Mooyah definitely serves a higher grade of meat compared to traditional fast food restaurants, and is on par with competing fast-casual establishments. The fries served here have the skins left on them (which I personally prefer), and have a unique flaky, yet substantial texture. Definitely my favorite part of the order. They had a tad too much salt at times, but it did not ruin them (I'll give them slack since it was their first day serving guests). The drinks available are what you would expect at most establishments of like, but they did also have separated dispensers for what seemed like traditional and pink lemonade (which caught my interest though I did not try it) and a nice variety of milkshakes. I was given a sample of the strawberry milkshake which was perfect. It was a good old traditional creamy strawberry milkshake. It tasted just like what you would get at a good ice cream parlor. Classic. Customer Service: When I first walked in I was enthusiastically greeted by a tall fellow, Wes, who then directed me to the cashier (not sure if hosts will be a regular practice here). The young lady who took my order was nice and polite, and seemed to put everything into the POS system just fine. The only flaws I observed are that I was not given the cup for my drink after I ordered (which I later learned was when I was supposed to get it) and no one made the effort to give any background on the new establishment. I was expecting someone to present a brief bio on the restaurant and tell me how and why the food is special to them, but alas, it did not happen. I was checked up on several times after receiving my food, which was personally delivered to me at my table, and Wes, the host/manager from earlier, talked to me about how the potatoes are washed the night before being cooked. He said that the fries tasted better because of the hard work that is put into preparing them. Wes already has his pitch and enthusiasm down. Kudos. Decor/Atmosphere: Mooyah consists of the typical modern fast-casual dining decor along with some comical cow portraits. Busy, but not too busy. There are also three televisions in various spots all with different channels playing, which is nice for a post food coma zone-out. My only suggestions would be to create some more space between the tables set along the walls as the backs of the chairs seemed to touch the backs of the other chairs at the neighboring tables when occupied, and place signs pointing to the location of the drink dispensers and bathrooms in the back. Final Thoughts: Overall, Mooyah is off to a great start. Besides a few minor hiccups, the staff seems to have everything together. The food is clean and tasty, and does not give the customer that guilty feeling one gets after eating junk food. I really enjoyed my burger from MOOYAH in Irvine. Today was my first time ever being here and it was fantastic. The restaurant was nice and clean, I was surprised at how large the interior was when I walked in. Looking at this location from the outside, you wouldnt think there would be much seating inside, but there were plenty of tables and chairs. They do have 4 or 5 TV's up on the walls too which is nice. The food is great, I did a custom burger but they do have a few pre-built burgers on the menu. MOOYAH is a step about fast-food, more in-line with say a Five Guys, but their pricing is much more affordable and they have a ton of options.
