Decided to try this burger joint since I was craving a burger and didn't want to drive too far from my apartment. The burger was great! I ordered a burger with swiss cheese, onion strings, mushrooms and bacon and I would probably rank it in my "top 3" in regards to fast-food burger rankings. The issue, however, is their chili cheese fries are strange. I was expecting French fries with regular chili but when I opened the container it looks like they put another liquid on top of the chili cheese fries. Essentially, you have fries, brown chili and this white looking drizzle that is either a type of sauce or another type of cheese. Regardless, it made the fries taste horrible and it doesn't specify on the menu that there is an additional ingredient included with the chili cheese fries. I got a mooyah burger with swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, grilled onions, crispy onion straws, mushrooms, bacon with mooyah sauce. The bun is freshly baked and soft on the outside, vegetables crisp and the jalapenos & mushrooms delicious. The burger was excellent along with some natural cut fries. The server made a mistake on my friend's cheese order but they replaced it right away. This place is a made-to-order burger place. One chooses a burger (there's also a hot dog, but I'm not sure if it's valid with the coupon since it's not a burger but it's under the burger list), and builds it with bread or lettuce and toppings. There are two easily accessible coupons for this location. One is on the Irvine Company website and is buy one burger and two drinks and get a second burger free, and the other can be found on receipts at the Ralph's in this plaza, and offers $5 off a $25 purchase. Like Five Guys, they have boxes of potatoes in plain sight (as opposed to peanuts). Whether one can just grab one and start chowing down on them is questionable, but I don't think one eats potatoes raw anyway. The procedure here is that one orders at the counter and they will deliver it to one's table. The check is identified by one's name but one does not receive any sort of identifying information for the table so it sounds like two people with the same name might end up eating each other's food. (I am under the assumption that we got our food properly, assuming there were no other people with any of our names in the restaurant at the time that ordered the same thing as us.) Luckily, each item is identifiable by a numerical sticker on the place mat the food is delivered in. The burgers are super tall (although not as tall as the Tokyo Tower burger), and again I had to unhinge my python jaw until it became uncomfortable and we just started eating the components piece by piece again. Damn good burger. Anything cooked on a flat top is a little greasy and this burger is no exception. I like the build-your-own approach, and the guy at the register made the effort to make sure my order was right. You place your order then you sort of follow your bun down the line as they put condiments on it. Not unlike a certain Mexican food chain that everyone seems to love. Stopped at Mooyah to check them out & decided to actually eat in. I rarely eat in by myself, just feel weird sitting there by myself. But I hate bagging up food because the steam just ruins a fresh burger & ESPECIALLY fries. When I judge a burger I don't get all fancy or order some weird meat like bison or turkey. I get a beef burger with typical lettuce, tomato onions. I just can't help but laugh at reviews when the reviewer says, "Yeah I went to this burger place & ordered a salad or hotdog", WTH"??? Great customer service but it was around 11:30am on a Saturday & wasn't terribly busy so have to grade that on a little curve I think. Nonetheless my food came out very quickly & yes VERY fresh. Yes I'd definitely echo some of the other reviews saying that this place does remind me of 5 guys but I prefer how they bring you the food here completely open without the fries being a a box or cup or whatever & especially the burger is not all wrapped up in paper, steaming away & ruining the texture of a fresh burger. That's the worst! Taste wise, the fries were great, it really didn't need any seasoning, I let the potato taste stand on it's own & they were nicely GB&D! The burger was very tasty as well. This is a nicely prepared All American style burger except for the fancier bun but the meat was excellent & toppings were ample & fresh. Can't complain much, this is a solid burger joint. Gotta get bacon on it the next time though! I'll definitely be back. Oh I guess my only gripe could be where it's located. I hate this shopping center with a passion, just WAY TOO many people visit this one center!! But traffic for them obviously is excellent! This was our first time eating here. It tasted so good. I got the Double Diablo and my wife got The Well D'Onion. We were amazed how good the burgers and fries tasted. We ordered half potato fries and half sweet potato fries with melted cheese. The size medium was equivalent to three or four large McDonald's fries. We were so full that we didn't order any shakes. This place reminded me of Steak 'n Shake. I hope they open one up in the San Diego area. If you get a chance to eat here, do it!! You won't regret it. read more

I'm usually not a burger fan unless it's In-n-Out, but this place was pretty good. It's a bit pricey compared to In-n-Out, but the food was good. I ordered 2 adult burgers, a little burger and a chicken tender meal and it came out to be about $30. We came during lunch, so it was a bit hectic. The menu is pretty easy, you can choose their burgers or create your own. We tried the following: - Burger on multigrain - added mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and ketchup. The meat is something different then I've every tasted, kind of melts in your mouth. Most of the time I don't finish the burgers, but this one I did. - Fries - the fries are bit on the salty side for me, but fairly good. Overall I liked this place and I wish I tried the shake, but I was just way too stuffed. This place is fairly kid friendly, they have a chalkboard in the back w/chalk for the kids to draw. The only complaint I would have is that my son's chicken tender came out when I was almost done w/my burger. They didn't call or bring it out, I had to come up and ask them. read more

The juicyness of the meat was so overflowing that it needed to be kept together by its two best friends, fluffy golden bun number one and fluffy golden bun number two. I also got the hand cut fries which tasted amazing. The small order of fries is enough to feed 2 people. A very generous portion for about 2 bucks. The server was very kind and helpful, giving me some of his favorite recommendations. If only I knew his name I would have definitely called him out on yelp. I really loved my experience here today. I went in and the person greeted me with a smile and took my order. I told him my wife doesn't like her burger wrapped in foil since it makes it soggy and he said he had an idea. I ordered 2 burgers and half and half fries. As they freshly made the food i waited. I am not a burger person. So why did I go here you ask? Well, when your coworkers all want to go to lunch and you are the only one whose not into burgers, you go with the flow. Several months later, this has become a usual lunch spot for me. Not a lot of frills, but the burgers are so flavorful. Quality is better than 5 guys, but better ingredients at very reasonable prices. If you are not into buns (burger buns, that is) you can always opt for the salad with the meat patty and crispy onion straws. It's pretty delicious. He fries are also some of my favorite! Burgers are really good, fries (especially the sweet potato fries) are delicious. The only issue is the shakes... they are truly awful! I had the mint chocolate chip shake and it was half chocolate chips that are hard to get through the straw. And I've had the Reese's - which had giant chunks all sitting at the bottom as well. The ice cream isn't very good - just avoid the shakes and you'll be happy! read more

Mooyah recently opened this location in Irvine. I was not expecting too much given the onslaught of new burger chains that have popped up in the past few years (e.g., The Habit, Five Guys, etc.). I ordered the Mooyah Burger with Mooyah sauce and sweet potato fries. The time between ordering and receiving the burger was short. The Mooyah burger came with a light, fluffly bun (I don't know what kind of bun/bread this is called), the patty was juicy and flavorful. In short: this burger was delicious! And the sweet potato fries were excellent: crisp texture, sweet-and-salty balanced. I will definitely come back to Mooyah! read more

I'm very dissatisfied with my recent visit to the Irvine location, I had made a phone order and was served a lukewarm burger because they gave my fries to someone else who had clearly ordered after me. It looked like the manager who was calling out orders clearly knew he gave my fries out which delayed my order even longer from being ready. When my order was finally ready no one, including the manager had the decency to at least apologize for the delay or even think of taking into consideration the amount of time my burger was sitting there. This was a terrible experience for me and hope that no one else has to go through it. read more

Best burger and fries I have had in a fast casual restaurant. We are still talking about the food, a day later. The Fries are from potato and washed before they are cut, result is the best fries I have had. Large portions of fries can be easily split. The Buns are made in house daily and were really fresh, which I think really helped with the overall experience. Extra toppings such as peppers and sauces were great as well. The burger was just the right side and was very tender. You could tell it was made with fresh beef. My kids had the chicken fingers and kids hot dog, and both were also excellent. The staff were all friendly but the Manager was an all star, making us feel welcome and taking the time to visit at the table. We will be back! read more

This place is so great! I've tried both the build your own burgers and salads, I can definitely say that both are exceptional! The burgers are build your own or from the menu, they are always great and very juicy. BOOYAH! As the hubby calls it...this place is da bomb! I think my favorite thing about this place is the fact that they aren't stingy like most other places nowadays (i.e.: they give you a LOT of fries!). And you can tell they blend real Oreos for the Oreo shake because they are still crispy!! So good! The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I think they can use better dipping sauces for the fries, like garlic aioli or like a chipotle sauce for the sweet potato fries.
