Great unique bar and meal in kalispell. Probably the most unique style if your looking for a real Montana joint. Saw dust on the floor, cheap chalices of cold beer, dark inside but comfortable. If your really looking for something unique try to sauerkraut pizza. We are in Kalispell for a month, while my husband is working, so I figured we have a chance to do some experimenting with dinner. Everybody and I mean everybody from here has told us to go to Moose's to eat. We went in on a Friday night at 6pm and they were packed. I had read the reviews that said, instructions would be nice when you walk in. I thought I knew what was going on, after reading a few yelp reviews that said order and pick a seat. Not so easy coming through the back door. The window is directly to your left when you come in the back, but the bar is really close to it, so it is hard to see what is going on. So, we circle the bar and see it. We headed through the crowd back to the window and I kept hearing people say they are going for a table. The place is typical bar dark, nothing crazy like some reviewers said, saw dust, yes, dirty, who can tell it is all covered in saw dust and the lights are low. You can carve up the walls and tables, the locals were right, the seating is padded picnic tables, even the booths have the bench seats. It took 30 minutes to get the pizza and it was pretty good. The crust is thin and crisp, plenty of cheese. I don't want to say it fell flat on flavor, it was not a bad pizza, but it was not something I'd go back and do again. We had added tomato and garlic to the pizza, but for some reason it just seemed flat, not like cardboard flavor flat, but just something missing. I was not disappointed, either, so that says something. My husband was not impressed with them at all and he was the one that wanted to go for pizza. We got two ice teas and they were 50 cents each, so that was a rockin' deal. I did notice walking out a lot of people had soda cans on the table, that is the first time I have ever seen that in a bar. We called in our order for two 10" pizzas, and were quoted 35 minutes. There is a drive-up window for picking up your order. We arrived at the quoted time and it was ready to go. The pizzas were not our favorite. The toppings were just o.k. And the crust was really dense and hard, nothing like we're used to with a thin crust pizza. This is the ultimate dive bar institution joint. I would come back to this area from California just to come back here and really hang out all night long! They have 25 beers on tap and wine. They have microbrews and domestics on tap plus bottles and cans. No liquor, but it doesn't matter. This place is all about the open, friendly vibe and cheap beer! They also have good food, which you order at a window, separate from your bar bill. I had a fantastic thin crust combo pizza but they also have sandwiches like pastrami, BLTs, corn beef & poor boys. The short of it is that I waited 15 minutes and didn't get service so I left. The detailed account is that I'm passing through town so I asked the hotel for a pizza recommendation for lunch before hitting the road. They immediately suggested Moose's. I got there and it wasn't immediately clear how things worked: do I wait to be seated, seat myself, order at the bar etc. ? Without a host stand I just sat down but made sure I was visible to the bar tender. I waited ten minutes - it was lunch time and not busy. No one approached me or told me I should check in with the bar. Then I saw a server who nodded at me as she passed so I figured maybe I showed up during her break and she would come over now that she's seen me. Five minutes later I still hadn't been helped and hadn't seen her again so I decided to call it. I stopped down the street at Angela's Pizza and it was very tasty! read more

I honestly think this is the best pizza I've ever eaten but maybe i just feel that way because I was raised eating there on a regular basis. Just be aware this place is rowdy! Not a great place for kids. A grandmother in our group was threatened and harassed by a Californian over a table because someone didn't want to wait their turn and it was super busy. We had to bus the dirty tables so we could have a place to sit which was gross and inconvenient. Peanut throwing is always fun. The beer is cold. Just keep your expectations low and enjoy the dark atmosphere and pizza. Not a great place for conversations but always interesting people watching. read more

We walked in and it has a real dive bar feel which is fun. There is peanut shell dust completely covering the floor and the wood walls have names carved into them everywhere which is unique. It's extremely dark unless you sit at the bar. It has a cool local feel. We went on a Monday at 730pm and it was crazy packed. We managed to squeeze in at the bar. We were told this place has great pizza so we ordered a large half pepperoni half Hawaiian. You have to stand in line to order food and they only take cash which we didn't know and was a little inconvenient. Luckily there was two of us so we didn't lose our seats. The pizza came out pretty quick for how busy it was. The pepperoni was very mediocre. The Hawaiian was better. It wasn't great but it was better. The service was good for how busy it was. Overall I probably would try something else in Kalispell before coming back to this place. If I'm ever in the area and looking for a place to watch a game I might come back and I would definitely try something other than the pizza. read more

We've had a rough day. We were locked out of our lodging after having not showered for three days post-backpacking. My boyfriend was NOT in a good mood. Neither was I. But I managed to convince him to come grab food here based on a recommendation from a friend. We got really lucky that there were two seats open at the bar, so we snagged them. First, we ordered a beer. It was an IPA, and cost $2.25. So we had three of them. Next, the pizza. My boyfriend ordered a medium (10") build your own, and it was damn delightful. He got a pizza with sausage, onion, and jalapeño. I order a half a Reuben, and while the bread to sandwich ratio was a little off, the platter came with a half sandwich, a pickle spear, and some chips. All for $3.25. When we left, we were no longer grumpy. This place felt older, rustic, and historical. We loved it. I'd come back in a heartbeat. Busy, old school, and great bang for your buck. Note: it's cash only, but they have an ATM on site. Pro tip--don't come in sandals--there's sawdust and peanut shells all over the ground. read more

Very interesting little saloon. Their service and pizza is great, especially for a horde of food-crazed teenagers (our group). It had a thin, crunchy crust and plenty of toppings. It was also flavorful, which is more than can be said for lots of other pizza joints. What really intrigued me was the ambience. Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was the fact that the floor was covered in sawdust, which is interesting. Then you walk in, and it's got that classic dark, middle-of-the-night bar feeling, even at noon. It's a bit different, which is refreshing. It also has a bunch of games around the edges of the room which added some aesthetic appeal, as well as an opportunity to play a game of pinball etc. Another great thing- when ordering a drink, I was taken aback by the price. I requested a Dr Pepper, and it was only 60 cents. For someone used to tourist traps trying to take advantage of weary travellers, it was extrememly exciting to hear something like this. This was a nice dive bar. loved the saw dust on the floor. good selection of beer and the wine was liked by the ladies drinking it at our table. Since it was yet another Lent Friday no meat for me, ended up sharing a "white sauce" cheese and mushroom pizza as one of the ladies wont eat tomato sauce. Anyway, the white sauce was good enough.
