I saw "Joe k's" Review. He couldn't be more wrong. Ignore him. This place is so unique. I want to have my ashes sprinkled here - beer is cold af and the wings are solid. They could be bigger - but they are really damn good. It's one of many spots where locals and jerk tourists like "Joe K" can mix. Has to be a top 10 ski bar - best way to end a day on "the big". If you like rude and crappy service, disease-infested smelly bathrooms (apparently the food is good, but when you see the bathrooms you can only imagine what the kitchen looks like), dirty smelling hipsters that haven't showered recently, and a good draft beer selection, The Bierstube is for you. We've been coming to Whitefish for years and usually stop into "The Stube" for a beer or two (namely because our friends like it; still trying to figure that one out, but to each their own), so we stopped by again this trip... In usual fashion, we got the same %hitty service (this time from the wanna-be hipster chick, who was as friendly as a rock, whilst giving everyone attitude). Unless you're a local/regular, a ski patroller, a hipster, or wear patchouli oil instead of deodorant, expect to be talked to like your morning dookie and treated like ill repute (from the staff). It's hit or miss whether they decide to be open. We went twice during normal hours and they were closed due to "weather."

I understand the appeal of this place. The beer is cold and reasonably priced (by ski resort standards), the bartenders are friendly and the vibe feels very old school. If you can get a seat at the window then the outside views are great as well. I haven't tried the food here so can't comment on that. The wings were awfully tempting looking though. read more

Friendly staff. Called ahead to discover they close at 6pm in the summer, so we had to hurry to get there in time. Nothing much happens in Whitefish in the summer and so eveyrjing closes down early. I had the bratwurst. Was very good. My wife's hamburger was fine. Portions were good. Only the loud music distracted from the great view. read more

Honestly loved this place. Not fancy but perfect after skiing. Drinks are strong and reasonable. Food was quick and their wings were phenomenal. If the actual wings were a little larger they would be even better. Staff is nice and they were quick. Will definitely return. read more

I start with 3 stars. Add 1 for Charlie, a great bartender. Add 2 for having a veggie burger on the menu. Add 2 for being a classic dive beer bar. Minus 3 stars for closing too early in the day during summer. Minus 1 for not figuring out a way to get the mountain bikers in. Run a special or something Bierstube! For a change, I'm reviewing the 'Stube from the summer point of view. It's a quiet place in the summer. Tourists looking to quench their thirst are the typical customer, but once in a while the mountain bikers come in for a beer or a burger. When I used to eat meat, I remember their burgers being pretty good, but nothing to go crazy about. But they've added a veggie patty, and it's good! The french fries are straight forward, from frozen I'm sure. Hey I'm just glad I can get a good Vedge option when I'm hungry, so Bonus! The quintessential Montana ski bar. Old, beat up wood floors. Name engraved wooden tables and benches. Ski paraphernalia on every inch of the walls, ceiling and rafters. Huge deck. Picturesque view of the town Whitefish, Whitefish Lake and most importantly, Glacier NP. The beer is cold. The food is great. What else could you ask for?!? They have your typical bar menu of food, but its all good food. Especially when you take into consideration that you can pretty much ski to the front door. Its a great spot to quench your thirst after skiing and maybe even check in for some live music. I've heard old stories someone from some band hanging from the rafters by his legs and upside-down chugging a beer. Seems like its worth visiting just to see if it may happen again! read more

The wings are fantastic and Charlie behind the bar WILL more than likely remember your name if you have introduced yourself to him before. As classic as it gets. The Stube offers the best local flavor in all of whitefish. It's the perfect place to chill out after a day on the mountain. For $40 you can get a beer card good for 20 $2 PBRs, so thats really the name of the game at the stube. I would normally take off a star for the grumpy bartenders, who always seem to be in a terrible mood for no good reason. How could they be so surly when they are working at such a friendly place on a rad mountain?! And I got definite competitive girl vibes from the female bartenders too, you know the type. I guess the lesson is to just not take it personal! But, there is so much damn local flavor at this bar that it makes up for it. read more

Oh YUMMMMMMMMMMY! This was one of the best damn burgers I have had in along time. All burgers should be this way. Tasted juicy and perfect like a home burger on a gas grill. And skin on fries!!!! Cool place- rustic wood everything and super friendly service- fast too! We were here for a few days skiing. We stopped in the first night starving after a 2 day 22 hr drive from Wisconsin. Amazing atmosphere here whether you're just coming off the slopes and looking for a place to kick back and throw a few down, or if you're in town and looking to have a great time, wonderful meal, and first class service. Scott and the gang are amazing. My wife and I love this place so much we had our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner there, and we couldn't have picked a better place. Our guests had the best time ever. The staff was more than accommodating. They were very down to earth and great to converse with. Honestly some of the most memorable customer service we've ever had. We heard compliments all weekend about the food, drinks, and staff. We all enjoyed ourselves tremendously. I look forward to return for pints and grub whenever I'm in town. 3 stars? It's called après, by the way, and there is no place better suited for it. Cheap, yeasty PBR is the swill of choice here and works well to wash down a stube-burger and/or a pizza. There's a fire place, ski movies on the big projector screen and, of course, a shot-ski. If you've got duct tape on your jacket this is the place to hang; otherwise you might want to try Ed n Mully's or Cafe Kandahar. read more

For whitefish, this is the place to find the most entertaining crowds. With the live music and the eclectic people. It was defintely my favorite bar in Whitefish. I was there for a week and I managed to go here whenever I was in the bar part of the city. =) It's not too crowded. I was able to get two table to sit my tired butt down. Love this place. Great pizza, burgers and beers. Non douche ski bar. The guy's bathroom has a head rest above the urinal so you can be comfortable as you relieve your discomfort. If you are in Whitefish, and you DON'T stop here, you are missing out. Enjoy! read more
