I hesitate to write this review because I want to gate keep this place BUT, can't be doin' that now can we?!
If you're an avid tea drinker that wants the dankest tea flavor without the fuss of everything else, LOOK NO FURTHER. Moon Tea is going to be your new GO-TO. You can already tell you're going to have an authentic tea experience since you can smell the DELICIOUS aroma of the tea while walking up to the door.
I'm a tea snob who doesn't like too-sweet things, and I don't get "boba" with any toppings, so I'm totally fine there's no toppings available here.
Let's just get to it:
-- Da Hong Pao MT 75% (The menu indicates 4 leaves for a reason, aka stronger tea profile) -- delicious dank, full flavor, roasty, nutty, oolong-y flavor. This is the best da hong pao tea I've come across because the flavor is so strong, which means so much more since this tea leaf itself is quite expensive
-- Peach oolong MT 75% (I never get peach flavored drinks at places cause most the time it tastes artificial or too sweet, HOWEVER, my go-to drink at Moon Tea is this peach oolong. Perfect pairing of gentle authentic peach flavor while maintaining a strong tea taste! I normally get 50%, but this one's better at 75%)
-- Jasmine MT 75% (Seasonal flavor I believe, however if you're a jasmine MT drinker, definitely order this since strong tea flavor!)
- Loulan MT 75% (Recently added flavor as of Oct 2024 -- could be ok at 50% since I'm sensing what tastes like condensed milk (?), sweeter than what I'd like it, but strong oolong-y nutty tea flavor that's different than da hong pao)
The frappes I think are okay, however when I've tried one in the past due to the appealing description of pistachios and dates in the cream, it was whatever to me and I wish I would've just opted for my normal MT.
I appreciate that their animated menu inside is so cute, ordering is available through UberEats and probably another platform. They also have food that's not too shabby! Spicy sausage is pretty spicy, and the cold noodles are tasty.
Only downside to this place is that parking may seem limited? Especially if you've peeped at everyone else's recent reviews. I don't think parking should factor ppl's opinions about an establishment, but you do you boo.
If you look to the side of the building, there's some type of parking lot outside and inside the parking structure. I've had no problem finding parking every time I've come here. I'm not sure if I wasn't supposed to park in the garage, but I have anyway since I'm just grabbing my drink and leaving.
If you drive further down into the residential area vs the main street, there's also plenty of side street parking :)
No places to sit inside, they have good AC, & it's bright & clean inside. There's benches outside you can chill at, especially in the shade!
Also, can we appreciate with all the numerous boba spots, Moon Tea's beautiful packaging STANDS OUT without being too much?! They continue to change their cup designs periodically, not that this detail matters since we're trying to focus on the tea here ! read more
