After a long travel day, Moonshine Bar and Grill was an excellent place to kick my feet up and refuel. The brisket burnt ends quesadilla brought the desired flavor of Texas right up front. I polished that plate very quickly after it hit the table, and only wish I had more. The Hot chicken sandwich followed quickly once my plate was empty, the servers watched and waited with great attention. My one disclaimer is that the hot chicken was really not spicy at all. It tasted great, and was prepared so well it almost fell off the bun, but no real heat in my opinion. This location is a great place to end your day, plenty of seating outside and a friendly crowd for any stranger. I'll probably be back soon! read more

My partner and I decided to go here after a quick yelp review when trying to find a good lunch spot during an Austin visit. To start, valet service outside the restaurant is a concept isn't touch and once inside, the menu had plenty of unique options. The complimentary popcorn that comes to the table was good and well seasoned. We really enjoyed the burnt ends quesadilla and the biscuits. Highly recommend those. The cheeseburger was overcooked based on my preference, but flavored well and my husband didn't care for his rib plate as it leaned on the sweeter side. I chose this place because it was close to our hotel. And I had a group of 6 to 7 people that wanted to have dinner. So I went early to put our names with the hostess, since they don't take any reservations. My friends like to eat very very late, I do not. So I headed to the downstairs bar so I could get my bitebite to eat before our table would be ready which was about an hour I ordered one of the steak dishes with vegetables, and it was incredible! This restaurant has all kinds of cool, cozy rooms, porches, areas, that you can be very comfortable. The bartender downstairs was wonderful. But getting back to their weekend brunch, it's a mix of breakfast and brunch. I like to say it's three different meals, starting with the Traditional Breakfast of waffles and chicken, ham, bacon, sausage, toast, an assortment of steak and veggie hash browns, and scrambled eggs. Next is the Southern Brunch of fried fish, hot wings in two flavors, BBQ sausages, sweet potatoes, greens, Brussels sprouts, biscuits with gravy, and more. Then there's the green eggs scramble, green chili macaroni, green cheddar grits, migas, chorizo, devil eggs, and more. The pastry table with all the bread puddings, cookies, cakes, and pies top of the ending to a great experience. Please do not let us forget about the drink specials; the Mimosas and Scarlet Momosas are 5 dollars, and the Bloody Marys are 7 dollars. I got the complimentary popcorn, cornbread, chicken & waffles $20, and bread pudding $11. - The popcorn was alright but there was nothing special to it, it's just popcorn. - The cornbread was dry and not very good. - The chicken & waffles left me with a mixed experience: the waffle was good but the fried chicken was bad, Something about the taste and flavor of the chicken was throwing me off and there was way TOO MUCH batter and breading for the fried chicken similar to a 70:30 breading to chicken ratio. Also I prefered the syrup over the gravy. - The bread pudding was one of the main reasons I came here and it ended up being decent but not as good as I had hoped. Went back again recently. I'm not really sure why I'd been sleeping on this place?!? Literally EVERYTHING was *chefs kiss* Maybe they upped their game since I went last? Desert will probably have to be taken to go, even if you do share plates, but please do that. It would be sad to have missed out on any part of their menu.
