Kevin and I stopped by during a little day adventure to the Fillmore Fish Hatchery, and we are so happy we decided to stop in The donuts were absolutely phenomenal! They were soft fresh and full of flavor! Every bite was delicious and you could really tell they were made with care. It was the perfect little treat to enjoy during our day out together :) The lady working was very sweet and welcoming. She was quiet, but you could tell she was kind and cared about the customers coming in. The shop itself was also very clean and well kept which always makes the experience even better. Please be careful when paying with card as I was overcharged for the dozen donuts we bought. The amount charged was $25.40 which the owner didn't show me on the paying device when he scanned my card. Luckily I noticed in time when checking my bank account once in my car. It was there that I I noticed a $7 overcharged as should have been $18 and not $25.40. I did bring it to the owners attention and was refunded the over charge. However after this incident, this place lost my trust in going back since it did not seem likely this was accidental even though the owner claimed it was. So just be careful as mentioned if you pay with a card. read more

Despite the warning signs, I resolutely pulled a $20 from the ATM next door and dove right in. I have been to a few donut places and there are something that I have had other places that have been better, however we are talking bout Moonlight Donuts. My favorite is their apple fritter. It is a massive mound of dark batter filled with apples and cinnamon. Theirs are coated in a glaze on the outside. When you bite in you don't get a mouth full of oil but bits of apple, cinnamon and dough. I haven't had a bad fritter from here yet. I haven't had too much else from there but the service is alway nice, even at night. I always stop here when I am in the area. Bring cash or use the BofA ATM next door since this is a cash only joint. read more

I've been here a handful of times in the previous years. I think they have different owners. This experience was not nearly as good as the last. It kind of started before we even walked inside. It smelt like sewage outside, the dining tables on the exterior of the building were filthy, walked in at around 7:45-8am on a Saturday & the selection was very very limited (they had zero glazed donuts and 1 chocolate bar). I live in Ventura and paid $.55 more for a dozen here than at home. I should not have even taken a bite. When I opened the box I could smell the oils they use. Not sure what they are doing differently than before but the donuts are way sweeter and I guess the only way I can describe is more fake tasting. I took 3 bites of 3 different donuts and all the same. Still have that weird taste/film in my mouth. So sad, a good donut shouldn't be that difficult to come by. read more
