There was a woman behind me that told me this has been her favorite donut place in Ventura and has been coming here for 20 yrs. The cashier confirmed it been the same owner for 20 yrs. I got a maple bar and a chocolate old fashion. As other comments have said, these donuts do not have that strange oil aftertaste that some shops do. They are also sweet but not overly sweet. Maple bars will always own my heart so it was my favorite of the two but the chocolate old fashion was also really tasty. Both were soft and freshly baked tasting. They had some really large donuts and specialty ones but you can't go wrong with a basic maple bar or old fashion. Yes, the donuts are going to cost you $2.50+ per donut but just like everything going up in price, it's only expected that a small donut shop ought to do the same. I'm only removing a few stars from today's visit because of an incident that raised some concerns. While ordering boba, one of the cups accidentally fell on the floor. I don't believe it was intentional at all, and I completely understand that accidents happen, especially during busy rushes. However, the cup was placed in the sink instead of the trash, and unfortunately, the second employee was not informed that it had fallen. I happened to be watching when the other worker went to grab that same cup and was about to pour the boba into it. Thankfully, I spoke up and asked not to use the cup, and the original employee clarified the situation right away. I truly believe this was a simple miscommunication, not poor intent. Still, it made me think that if I hadn't been paying close attention, I could have unknowingly been served a drink in a cup that had fallen on the floor, which isn't sanitary. Communication between staff is especially important during busy times so customers don't have to worry about situations like this. I will continue coming here, as I have for the last 10 years, but I hope this serves as gentle feedback. Even during rushes, customers shouldn't be the ones having to catch these things.
