Fastest breakfast sandwich I've ever gotten at a donut shop! And absolutely delicious. Despite the consistent flow of customers, I was in and out of the shop in no time. This is your run of the mill mom and pop donut shop and if you're like me, you're always on the hunt for a yummy breakfast sandwich. This place did not disappoint. My husband said it was one of the best donut shop croissant sandwiches he's had. And I got to agree. We got a bacon egg and cheese and they didn't skimp on any of the ingredients. Many places give you a super greasy/oily croissant but this one wasn't. Nice and flaky. Such nice staff attending you. GETTING HERE: Master's Donuts is located in the small strip mall area that faces Victoria in Ventura. It's at the opposite end of where the GNC is, and Wal-mart is located behind them all. REVIEW: I continue to be amazed of all the places I've never been in the V.C.! I've actually never been here and I am a long-timer in the area. I finally fixed this huge error last week. Where have I been my entire life? Lots of people waiting in line early this morning. The lady behind the counter was hopping, and I can see why. Although my hunch is that the donut holes I ordered might have been a bit "aged"....everything else I ordered was fresh and fluffy, No pics, because donuts. :) But I got a Maple Old-Fashioned, Chocolate Buttermilk, and the donut holes. I know there's some major competition in the surrounding area, but if there's a theme in my reviews is that SERVICE makes the customer return again and again. And, that's a fact in this case. The Old fashioned plain donut I got was awful. It didnt have any glaze on it. It was dry and I ended up throwing it away. This place used to be so good. I've started going to a lot of small "hole in the wall" style donut shops (and there are a lot in Ventura), really impressed with both the breakfast sandwiches here, and the donut holes. Donut holes were light and fluffy, not too much sugar. Breakfast sandwich was honestly delicious. I had a sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant, but everything looks great. I was randomly in the area and was craving iced coffee and a donut. I wanted the apple fritter but they weren't ready at the time so I opted for the maple bar instead and OMG yes. It was amazing. It felt as though it was freshly made the way it squeezed-in easily at the sides as I went in for a bite. The flavor was also delicious, not too sweet at all. Unfortunately there wasn't regular black iced coffee without the added sugars/milk but the employee offered to put the hot coffee over ice for me. I passed on the offer. I come here for my morning breakfast sandwich during my lunch.The two staff I've seen seem so dedicated. And I respect the hard work they put into this little shop that I don't mind the little 5/8 min wait for my sandwich. They make mini cookies and they are delicious. I love this shop. Try it out. OH MY GOODNESS!!! I just stopped by for the first time to try these highly recommended donuts. It was about 6:40pm and I couldn't tell whether it was open or closed. I walked up to the front door and saw a gentleman coming to unlock the door for me. There weren't any business hours posted on the window. He was coming to open the door just for me! WOWEEE what service. Thank you Ray!! I ordered a bunch of different kinds of donuts - twists, glaze, sprinkles, buttermilk, maple, ETC. All were fresh and delicious!! Ray told me the official hours are 4:30AM - 7:00pm, but if they sell out before 7pm, they do close a little earlier. So happy Ray opened the door. He's awesome ! Ive limited my donut intake to every other month.....its time. So we stopped in Ventura and found this gem of a Donut Shop...they offer pastry, ham and egg crossaint, cookies.....and donuts! All varieties and plenty of them. They also make capacuino, so I enjoyed a nice mocha cap with my coconut donut. They have, juices, soda and water. Service was very good and the shop was clean. Plenty of parking im front. No bathrooms available. So we walked over to Carl's Jr and went. Note....if not paying cash there is a .04 charge per dollar on a c card or debit. read more

I always go for a ham-cheese- jalapeno croissant and a coconut devil's food; can't miss with it. They offer variety that isn't available in other donut shops in Ventura; take it from a born and raised local. Unlike other shops, they refrigerate their filled croissants so you always have a fresh one, so there's no question of freshness. Called "Master's" for a reason. read more

Anyone giving this place a 4 or 5 star doesn't know what they're talking about. I went there for the first time and I'll give 3 reasons: - The store sign wasn't lit. It was completely dark. For how many nights they've allowed this to go on, I have no idea, but this is not a good starting indication of how any place of business conducts itself. - When I went in I told the girl there about the sign and she didn't answer me. Just gave me a blank stare. - When I saw the condition of the donuts themselves they looked like they were made yesterday morning. When I tasted them, after leaving the store, I can confirm they taste like yesterday's donuts. So first time going there and had a cinnamon roll to go. Ate later after warming up in the microwave for 20 seconds and OMFG.....orgasm in every bite. The only cinnamon roll I know is cinnabun and good but ehhhh. This cinnamon roll was wayyyy better by far!!! Now usually I don't care about price but I was surprised how cheap it was there. I noticed the doughnut holes were 10 cents each (that's what caught my eye). Also thought the bottle drink selection was smart. I also read other reviews about poor customer service. The customer service I got seemed to be a shy girl with a real quiet voice behind the counter doing the best job she could. I worked restaurant jobs as a teenager and looking back am glad I was given a chance (to make mistakes) without having to deal with hyper critical people. I've purchases many of their donuts - glazed, plain, cake, chocolate, coconut and all have been excellent. Only bad item that didn't top the charts was the apple fritter. Seemed like they took Homer Simpson's idea and double fried the donut. It tasted like the lid of a cinnamon container fell off on it and they didn't wanna waste the batter and cooked it anyway. Anyway, I give it 5 stars because outside of taste testing various donuts for National Donut Day (June 3rd) the apple fritter is never on my radar. The donuts here almost taste like they were fried in butter than grease although not greasy, not over glazed, never over the top sweet. They are perfect. Even a couple of days later (yes they've lasted that long in my house, but not because they aren't great) they taste excellent. The building they are located in is shabby, but what hole in the wall isn't known for great eats??? read more
