Jumbo donut
Stan C.

After dinner out we were looking for a place to get dessert on the way home. Passed Rolling Pin Donuts and decided to give it a try. It doesn't look like much from the curb. But looks are deceiving. 8 PM on a Wednesday and no line. Huge selection available. We decided to try the jumbo donut with chocolate and sprinkles ($5.50) (see the photo). Good choice. Had to be one of the best donuts ever.

With two locations, one in Ventura and another in Camarillo, Rolling Pin Donuts asserts itself as the "Best Donuts in Ventura County," a claim sustained by loyal fans that support them nearly 24/7 save for a break from noon to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Old-school in all the right ways, each Donut handmade without any pre-mix, guests are invited to step up and peruse everything from Fritters and Basmarks to Cronuts and Cereal-topped options. Friendly in terms of service, the whole array of fried Dough on display at 10am Sunday, fans of raised Rings will find Glazed, Maple or Cinnamon Crumb all light and fluffy while Bismarks include Jelly, Cream or even Cream Cheese. Fair priced compared to all the fancy spots in LA, two-dozen just a shade over $50 including tax and tip, Cinnamon Rolls predictably see center outshine edges while the Buttermilk Bar, Old Fashioned, Bear Claw and Fritter are all compelling enough in terms of taste and texture to justify every calorie.

These donuts are good. We ordered two donuts, a milk, and a water. Nothing too special to be honest. The service was good. The cool thing about this place is that it is open late on the weekends. We came after midnight and there were young people hanging out in the outdoor dining area. Overall, this is good place if you craving a late night snack. But not a must try if you're in the LA area.

They had amazing donuts and their cronuts were really good. The service was fast and the ambiance was good. It is all outdoors.

Can't go wrong with a late-night snack at this beloved Camarillo landmark! The parking area is small but I've always managed to find a spot. Sometimes there's a bit of a line, especially at night, but the wait time is reasonably quick. Make sure to bring cash if possible as there is a small fee when paying with card. This was my first time trying the ham & cheese croissant and it was huuuuuuuge! The croissant was so buttery and flaky with just the right amount of ham and cheese inside. All their doughnuts are delicious, so whenever I go (unless I'm craving something specific), I ask for whatever's fresh to ensure the best possible bites :P During my most recent visit, they had just finished a batch of chocolate chip rolls (MY FAV) so I knew I had to get one. They are enormous and the chocolate is so rich and luscious and not toooo terribly sweet. An easy five stars from me!

Recommend the Custard Cronut and can't go wrong with the glazed blueberry donut. Service was good and quick with the window to help pick your dessert. Ambiance was good for a Friday afternoon. Got there but if got busy and there were enough tables to sit down and eat. Timing of the day may matter as they might have other options. For example didn't have any apple fritters but likely will have them later in the evening. Definitely coming back nonetheless.

They make the prettiest & biggest sprinkled doughnuts. Make sure to bring cash!! My son loves coming here and he's a doughnut enthusiast.

Chocolate Donut

No words. Just the best chocolate stuffed donut I've ever had. They prepared the chocolate donuts I ordered fresh and the inside of the chocolate melted in my mouth with every bite. I wish I could bring a dozen of these donuts with me to Chicago. Service is always great. This place is a Camarillo favorite so there's always a short line when I go, but it never disappoints. Apple fritter here is also amazing. They add a nice glaze to most their donuts (besides like their old fashion donuts) so it adds such a nice sweetness and flakiness to every donut.

My favorite donuts! I just visited from out of town and had to get some rolling pin while I could. Having lived in several states now, rolling pin is always my favorite.

We stopped by here because of good Yelp reviews. Donuts were fresh. Fast service. Cool spot to hang out to enjoy a quick snack.

Highly recommend this business to any family or friend. They do a wonderful job at providing the most flavors and delicious donuts. Everyone that works. Here is highly knowledgeable and well polite.

Literally so good. Love the ham and cheese croissant and the buttermilk bar which is like an old fashion but in a bar. Bought a dozen for my mom's birthday and she loved sampling them. Definitely recommend stopping by and checking them out. Everyone was helpful and it was super fast window service. Casual and vintage vibe.

Are mochi donuts gluten free since they are made with rice flour (I read somewhere)? If not, is there any possibility of us seeing gluten free donuts in the near future?

Yes. Mochi Donuts are Gluten Free. Unfortunately the Gluten Free Mixes are at higher prices (double in price) and also the dusting flower we use to roll our dough it is 100% Gluten. So, we will have to change both in order to make them. In the donut… Read more

What's a good time to come by when a wide variety of donuts are in stock? Been there twice, once around 9am and second around 10:30am and both times super slim selection. What we had was awesome, but 80% of the shelves were empty.

Those are the positives and that's where it ends. Let's start with the main product, coffee. It's HORRIBLE! I could be snarky and insulting but I kind of feel bad for them. I've tried a few drinks and there is this crazy after taste that is simply unpleasant. The baked goods are hot and miss at best. Often dry and tasteless. Now, the staff. Over the years they've had some wonderful people, but the good ones don't seem to stay more than a few months. For whatever reason they retain anyone devoid of personality and energy. Product knowledge is virtually nonexistent. Enthusiasm? You'd think that the caffeine would wake them up, but no. It's like they are on heroin. I've interacted with someone who I'm told was the owner, but I can't imagine someone so blah and uninterested decided to open a coffee shop. This place has potential if they simply replace the coffee, staff, and sell to someone who actually cares.

I walked in and walked over to the far right where the barista was making coffee. There were 2 families in the building, I stood and waited patiently, drink after drink I saw everyone receive their drink. My order was to be ready at 732pm, it was now 739pm. All good no rush, nothing to do, I then noticed everyone had their drink and the barista, slender guy with no personality w/a beanie, deleted the last order from the screen and begin to clean his space. This is when I approached him and asked if he could check on my order, I wanted to be sure I wasn't at the wrong location, he asked for name on order so I gave it to him and told him it was an app order. He said app orders are on the other side (big long counter and I don't recall a sign that says orders or app orders or anything) so I felt dumb, naturally (I was not upset at all) so we walk over and I see my drinks and I said "oh sorry, my first time here, thank you" still feeling stupid. This is where he could've helped me not feel dumb and it all would've been fine and 100% on me, maybe even shared a laugh over my stupidity, BUT To my surprise he just walked away, he didn't even acknowledge my comment, nothing not a word, so I said "thanks" loudly since he was already 10-15 feet away and this time I was sure to be clear that I did not mean it. As I walked out feeling dumb, the other guy running the register cool dude with long hair and beard, asks the barista "do you not ask them?" He saw the opportunity! And that's my whole point!! Careless because he saw me standing there, I'm a heavy set guy with a blue flannel, the 2 families have their drinks, he cleared out all the orders and he couldn't have the courtesy to ask "are you waiting for a drink" "do you have an order?" Anything that would indicate that he would give a rats butt about a customer who just waited patiently!! I manage retail so I understand long days and all but I can also not accept or understand how someone can just disregard a long time loyal customer of this brand, knowing there are no more drinks in queue, no one in line, nothing and just leave me standing there. I will NEVER return here, a waste of a drive, I will continue going to Gabriel in Oxnard. Jesus fyi señor, this fella working on 3/7 at 732pm, slender build with a beanie, expressionless, emotionless and clueless to body language and verbal basic customer communication with lacking enthusiasm is not the face of the brand I know you strive to create and he does not meet, the standards I know you set.
