Careless employee! Last night 3/7 at 730pm I drove from Oxnard to Camarillo cause our coffee bean on Rose showed no whip cream on the app, with nothing to do on a Sat night, we drove to this location. my wife ordered them on app, I walked in and had never been to this location, there are 3 entrances by the way, so I was already a bit confused. I walked in and walked over to the far right where the barista was making coffee. There were 2 families in the building, I stood and waited patiently, drink after drink I saw everyone receive their drink. My order was to be ready at 732pm, it was now 739pm. All good no rush, nothing to do, I then noticed everyone had their drink and the barista, slender guy with no personality w/a beanie, deleted the last order from the screen and begin to clean his space. This is when I approached him and asked if he could check on my order, I wanted to be sure I wasn't at the wrong location, he asked for name on order so I gave it to him and told him it was an app order. He said app orders are on the other side (big long counter and I don't recall a sign that says orders or app orders or anything) so I felt dumb, naturally (I was not upset at all) so we walk over and I see my drinks and I said "oh sorry, my first time here, thank you" still feeling stupid. This is where he could've helped me not feel dumb and it all would've been fine and 100% on me, maybe even shared a laugh over my stupidity, BUT To my surprise he just walked away, he didn't even acknowledge my comment, nothing not a word, so I said "thanks" loudly since he was already 10-15 feet away and this time I was sure to be clear that I did not mean it. As I walked out feeling dumb, the other guy running the register cool dude with long hair and beard, asks the barista "do you not ask them?" He saw the opportunity! And that's my whole point!! Careless because he saw me standing there, I'm a heavy set guy with a blue flannel, the 2 families have their drinks, he cleared out all the orders and he couldn't have the courtesy to ask "are you waiting for a drink" "do you have an order?" Anything that would indicate that he would give a rats butt about a customer who just waited patiently!! I manage retail so I understand long days and all but I can also not accept or understand how someone can just disregard a long time loyal customer of this brand, knowing there are no more drinks in queue, no one in line, nothing and just leave me standing there. I will NEVER return here, a waste of a drive, I will continue going to Gabriel in Oxnard. Jesus fyi señor, this fella working on 3/7 at 732pm, slender build with a beanie, expressionless, emotionless and clueless to body language and verbal basic customer communication with lacking enthusiasm is not the face of the brand I know you strive to create and he does not meet, the standards I know you set. The coffee bean is a popular chain coffee and tea business in California and I've been long overdue to leave a review for their Camarillo location. I'm not one to regularly review chains, Especially multiple locations, but since this one is local to me and the one I've come to the most, I felt I owed them an updated review. This location is easy to access off the main road so that's convenient. The current location is undergoing a lot of construction which can be a pain but it's no fault of the coffee bean and despite the construction, they are open for business and have plenty of signage and tape to block off where you can and can't drive in their parking lot. Just be mindful that it's a construction zone and be extra diligent. Last time I came here I found some nails near the parking lot which would have sucked for all of our tires. That was the last time but when I came today, thankfully the area was well kept and seemed safe. The staff here at this location are always 5 stars in friendliness and attitude in my opinion. I frequent this spot because it's the most convenient but I also appreciate how nice everyone is. I came in this morning and a lovely gentlemen range up my order and was very friendly and kind. Small interactions like this can make your whole experience worthwhile. They whip up your drinks fast here and it's appreciated as I can get in and out quick. The drinks are standard and typically my go to is their vanilla iced latte or really any of their seasonal or regular fruit teas. Their teas are definitely some of my favorites compared to their competitors and their vanilla for the iced lattes remains supreme. I would skip their matcha as for me personally, it's too bland and not how I prefer it. Some of the cons, for me, is that this location doesn't have a drive thru. Would be so much more convenient if it did and hence why I don't stop here as much as I could. Also coffee bean is getting a little pricy. A regular sized iced matcha drink was close to $7. That would be the price for a large at their competitors. I'd rather support local mom and pop businesses but when in a pinch this one does come through. The friendly staff will keep me coming back and I appreciate that the inside is spacious and clean. read more

A group of four of us walked in there today to get a caffeine boost to our Saturday Morning garage sale shopping. I didn't know I was traveling with some spoiled coffee drinkers. One was talking about "almond milk" while another was asking for an "extra shot of..". I didn't understand what they were ordering but the employee (Devon?) did. He was even hyping up their choices. All I heard was gibberish and giggling. He was very nice and complimented many of our choices. When we received our drinks my group got quiet after they said "mmmmm" and mumbled something about the drinks being good. That silence was worth the price and I will definitely be back. read more

Used to love coffee bean but ever since they changed the app and I couldn't log back in and most importantly, customer rep hasn't responded to my request up to this day 8/31/24 - I stopped visiting this location. Today my husband was craving for some blueberry muffins and since his app is working, I suggested we stop by coffee bean. We ordered 2 muffins and 2 large caramel ice blended decaf with less sugar. Unlike Starbucks where they put a sticker on your drink to easily identify if it's yours- this one has no sticker. They called out 2 caramel drinks so I picked it up and then asked if they are decaf. Jacob, who took our order confirmed they are. So we started eating our muffins in the car and drank our drinks but they are too sweet. they are not decaf as well because I started palpitating. The Coffee Bean is actually headquartered in Camarillo. So, it's extra fun to me to go to this shop. What's great about this location is that it's exceptionally clean. The staff here work really hard and are consumate experts in customer service. It's a really nice experience to come in and take a drink to go or sit outside and enjoy at this location. I highly recommend the iced chai. I like it a lot. My husband likes the ice blended cookies and cream. We often get coupons for $4 ice blended treats which are well worth it at that price. You know what's right in Camarillo? Let me warn you, it's not food. Coffee for the win!! With only a handful of coffee choices in the area this one is my favorite stops. When food fails, coffee saves the day. Quad espresso with Vanilla powder over those little icy pearl balls in a large cup is my dream come true. Best way to order this drink is to ask for a large iced Vanilla Americano dry. For some reason they wont just ring up 4 shots over ice. They always do a double espresso add 2 shots. I want to love the only CBTL we have left in our area, but my experience on Tuesday afternoon at the Camarillo location really soured me. I normally order my iced tea as machine brew. "Devon" made a snide remark on me ordering this way which was an immediate problem, then I received the weakest, no flavor iced tea. I asked for it to be remade, have never had to do this before. The barista made a comment saying the tea brewer was broken, so using the coffee side may be impacting the flavor. "Devon" said no that wasn't it. I was served the same tea with very little flavor or color. I asked if it could made stronger or something - he said yes and made it stronger. He wouldn't hand it to me and said he'd see me at the register, as I had to pay more for the extra tea! I told him that was something he should have mentioned before making it and the other tea had no flavor and wasn't the tea I normally receive here. I also asked if the manager was in. He said he was the manager and if I wanted the stronger tea I would need to pay for it. At that point I asked for a refund and left. He dumped my tea down the sink and was strangely rude with a smirk. It was uncomfortable and a terrible experience. To top it off, CBTL does not have a number or any way to contact them except an email address they do not respond to. Is this why so many are closing?? read more

This would be my go to to study, fill out college apps, then find jobs, and now work. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors with plenty of outlets. There's a cozy vibe to the place with low ceilings and dark wood furniture, which hasn't changed in a minute. The drinks themselves are ok. I personally just haven't found the right drink for me, but this can be said for any coffee shop. I will say that from my experiences customer service has always been pretty awesome, but I do try to avoid rush hours so employees usually have time to make small talk or walk me through drink options. As a former resident of Camarillo, this used to be my go-to spot for coffee and over the last few years, there has been an undeniable decrease in service and cleanliness. The Central Plaza (the center that this location is in) is undergoing full remodel along with the exterior of Coffee Bean itself, but that is no excuse for the nearly unsafe conditions outside. There is a sign by the main entrance saying to watch your step because there are "bare wires" What?? During my visit here last week I saw many health code violations which included baristas making drinks with their hair down, not wearing aprons, working with sleeves halfway covering their hands, and just overall disgusting conditions as the cashier dropped the cup of water I paid for and served it to me anyway. Along with all of this, there are dirty box fans covered in lint and debris blowing air through the whole establishment. Very unimpressed. I don't know if this is a management issue or if all of the employees truly don't know a thing about cleanliness or hygiene, but regardless I will not be coming here anytime soon. NOt many coffee options in the area and I needed to refuel before a long morning of shopping at the outlet. CBTL is the only chain that is consistent and will do when there are no local options in the area. Service was fantastic, our drinks came out quickly and were prepared perfectly. I had an iced blended ultimate extreme mocha, perfect mix of sweet and coffee, got me through the rest of the day. My husbands cookie butter also very good, though I preferred the mocha. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Camarillo is not only my favorite, by far, coffee shop it's also my favorite place to hang out and get away from it all in Camarillo. As I said back in 2011 I like that the chocolate they use in their drinks is absolutely delicious (much better than Starbucks) and their staff is outstanding. The store is really big with many places to sit indoors and a huge outdoor sitting area with a gas fire. Also, the issues I had with the Wi-Fi back in 2011 have all been corrected. And great thing about them is their breakfast. Not only do they have a good selection of baked goods but their oatmeal is the best in town! You get to choose what you wanted added and they make it right there. So, I'm raising my original rating of four stars to five stars. read more
