Sunshine Donuts is hands down my favorite donut shop! It's a family-owned business now run by Pablito and his wife, and one of the things I love most is how they genuinely know their customers. Every visit feels welcoming and personal. The donuts are AMAZING. If you're a fan of fluffy, soft, doughy donuts, with a thick coating- this is definitely the spot for you. Everything is always fresh and delicious, and it's easy to see why they have such loyal customers. I also wanted to mention that I noticed their posted hours may be slightly incorrect. Their current hours are Monday-Friday from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM and Saturdays from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM. They are also cash only, so come prepared! Sunshine Donuts are DELICIOUS!!! Ive been coming here for amost two decades I would always buy two glazed donuts and a nesquick before waking to high school. Now i go buy donuts for my family and kids. Service is great. Amazing customer service. Friendly enviroment. I have so many stories in this place. Super nice lady who works the front. I always come here specifically for their jalapeno ham and cheese croissants! They are the best... something with the cheese and the buttery goodness of the croissant. The jalapeños just make it even more amazing. I was pretty disappointed by the selection here, but what they did have was pretty good in all aspects. I'd had a glazed old-fashioned donut (the ring form) and a custard-filled donut (chocolate covered). The glaze on the old-fashioned was nice -- sweet and yet not overpowering. Those of you who are buttermilk nuts might find that the dough isn't buttermilk-y enough for you, though, and that it tastes a little closer to a cake or raised donuts than some other places' old-fashioned donuts. The custard donut was the stronger of the two. There clearly wasn't anything not to like about this, and yet nothing really screamed out Sunshine's name as why I'd go specifically here. The dough was the slightly thicker, less airy style (like a Dunkin' Donuts type as opposed to a Krispy Kreme), which isn't my preference but I'll admit they did it well. The custard filling was a nice, sort of oozing Bavarian cream. The frosting was probably the best part, thicker than usual and well-crafted. The place itself is pretty peaceful, and the people are nice. It's got a lot of seating for a donut shop, but it would probably look pretty bad to a McDonald's or something. I'd go here if it were really convenient, but since it's out of the way, I have other places I like more. read more

I had been coming here for years and just recently went back after the business had been sold last year. NEVER AGAIN. Their donuts are dry and tasteless. Then come to find out it's the same owner who owns the donut shop next to TresSierras, which I hate even more.. I always sample the local donut offerings when I travel, but these are still my favorite donuts anywhere. Consistently fresh and warm, miss them so much since moving out of state but always stop by when visiting home. The owners are genuinely wonderful people and always make you feel welcome. I actually really love this shop. It's not in the greatest part of town, but the owners are sweet and knew my kids by name after only visiting a handful of times. We have recently moved out of the area and my kids still mention Sally frequently. Besides friendly owners, I thought the donuts tasted very fresh. They might not have a wide variety outside of basic cake and yeast donuts; apple fritters and Cinnamon rolls, but what they make tastes fresh. Great donuts for a great price. Good selection on standard donuts. My daughter likes the chocolate filled donut topped with chocolate glaze and chocolate chips. I went for the basic filled donut. Also had a donut with chocolate glaze and sprinkles and a glazed buttermilk donut. Four donuts with three having filling for $4.50. If we do Pacific Coast Highway again, I'm coming back! read more
