Such an absolute GEM!! Not only would I say to stop here if you're in the area, but I would say make a point to go here! I splurged and bought several things so I could try them all. Everything was delicious!! And the COFFEE!!!! I'm coming back just for that! (I had a caramel latte). The almond bear claw was my favorite, but we loved everything. The sweet owners are the cherry on top. I love supporting small businesses and definitely recommend Bear Claw Bakery. It's an adorable mountain bakery that'll you'll be craving too. Love "Dave" & her daughter :)

The Pastries are made fresh, plus the hot chocolate is some of the best I've had. The bear claws are a must have. The turnovers are delicious.

Amazing food and even better service. The owner treats everyone like family and the vibe here is genuinely so warm! On top of that there chilli rellenon sandwich and pastries are so good I can't even put them into words. A must try spot which you won't regret! (PS the area here is also amazing, you can grab some pastries and picnic at Mount Pinos!!)

Hi... do they carry any gluten free items? Heading there this weekend and wanted to know.

Yes, we do we do pizza gluten free, and chocolate mini cakes.

Not just for breakfast!!! I just tried the empanadas and they are fantastic! Can I order a dozen or two in advance?

Sure you can, just give a call sometime ahead.

We were there on a Sunday afternoon and the Sunday afternoon knitting club was there knitting and pearling away while they sipped delicious coffee and ate delicacies from the baked goods. We were there for the delicious turkey ciabatta sandwich. They're there every Sunday and they knit for people that have cancer who need hats to stay warm. It's a great community up here in Tehachapi. I was impressed with it several years ago when we held a dance recital here this coffee shop seems to be sort of a club of community activity. The only downside is it does take a while to get your order because they're busy, but that sandwich was worth waiting for, and it made the miles from Tehachapi to Mojave speed by

The menu is great and the coffee is even more delicious. I have to say it's in my top two coffee places in kern county. I went with a Americano which was great! It had a smooth mellow flavor and not bitter at all. My wife went with a vanilla latte with Espresso whip cream made in house, she loved it. My daughter had a "Love Potion" sparkling dragon fruit lemonade which she loved as well. They offer food and pastries and the selection is abundant. I went with a slice of coffee cake and I really enjoyed it. Overall a great experience and great coffee, I really wish they had one in Bakersfield but I don't mind making the drive or making a quick pit stop on the way to Vegas.

We came in the early morning so they weren't as busy. When we walked inside, my wife was able to place her order for her iced chai latte and I just got iced water. The server was polite and seated me quickly since it wasn't very busy. I ordered an omelet, assuming it would be one of the quickest and simplest items to prepare. Instead, it took 40 minutes to arrive. Honestly, if I were at home, I could go to the grocery store, buy the ingredients, prep, cook the omelet, and clean up in that same amount of time. It was surprising--and frustrating--that it took so long, especially after I had to follow up to get my food. The omelet itself was very basic. They chopped and mixed avocado directly into it as a topping, which was unusual since most places serve it on the side. It was also extremely bland--no salt or pepper at all. The vegetables inside were lightly seasoned and had an okay texture, but nothing memorable. The hash browns were the worst I've ever had: slightly raw, oily, and soft. That's especially disappointing considering I cook frozen hash browns at home and they've never turned out this bad. The toast was fine and adequately buttered. I genuinely feel bad for the locals who eat here and, by doing so, encourage the business to keep serving subpar food to new customers. I won't be dining at any Black Bear Diner again--I'd rather get Panda Express or go to the Denny's across the street.

I was excited to try this cafe with my friends after seeing that it had many positive Yelp reviews,…read morebut I was severely disappointed in the taste of my drink and in the service throughout our visit. Though the shop was cute, clean, and had a lovely covered patio outside, I wouldn't recommend it for those stopping by for coffee on road trips. I got a seasonal spring drink called the Irish Cream Mocha and asked for it iced. Unfortunately, it just tasted like chocolate milk. Now, I like a good chocolate milk, but not when I paid for a specialty flavored mocha! I didn't detect an Irish cream flavor or even a hint of mocha. As a latte, it was way too milky and lacked the depth of an espresso drink. Contrary to its description on the menu, it wasn't balanced at all. How misleading. My friend tried one of the craft energy drinks, and it looked pretty, but she said that it was flat and tasted kinda meh. She also got a visually-appealing soda, which apparently tasted much better compared to the energy drink. Another friend ordered the seasonal Dulce de Leche Latte, and she mentioned that it was a bit too light-tasting as a latte. That checks out since my mocha also seemed like it was missing the coffee component haha. Her latte did taste like a caramelly drink made with actual dulce de leche, but she didn't appreciate that the "light" dusting of cinnamon was more like a heaping teaspoon of it thrown into the drink. We noticed that our receipts showed a higher price than what was printed on the menus. We only found out after paying and reviewing the receipts that they charge $0.75 for making drinks iced. We weren't informed of this charge by any of the ladies at the registers upon ordering, and we didn't see any signs stating that iced drinks would incur an additional charge. No explanation anywhere. Another thing that threw me off was when a certain barista handed off the completed drinks in the pickup area. She wasn't wearing gloves, and I don't think she washed her hands in-between tasks, but she was placing the drinks onto the counter while holding them by the top part, aka the lid from where people drink! I was shocked at how unbothered she was while doing that, as if that's how she was trained, or she was never corrected.
