Beans, hot links, ribs, brisket, Mac & cheese

A hidden gem up in pine mountain that we stumbled upon after a staff day away in the mountains. We saw hungry als when we were about to come down off the mountain and we were thrilled it was open (on yelp it said weds it would open and today was a holiday so i thought it was closed). It was a small interior with some booths and tall tables, along with a bar and a pool table. We had 6 people in our party and so we did 3 double meat meals that came with 2 sides each and rolls. We got the brisket, tritip, pork ribs, and We got some extra hot links and Mac and cheese and we had plenty to eat! We had extra sides at the end we took home. The owners were super nice and brought out a salad for us to share. Al came out and chatted with us and he talked about all his experience all over the country with bbq and how his secret is this pure salt from Mexico that you just need a Little bit to go really far for flavor. You can definitely tell! It was not overwhelmingly salty and the meat was so delicious, perfect soft texture, moist, delicious flavor, you didn't even need that much bbq sauce in my opinion. All the sides were also delicious- the beans, Mac & cheese & rolls were spot on. We will be back and be bringing friends! Also I'll be stopping at their other location right of the 5 (run by Al's son) whenever I'm driving the grapevine to LA now!

The best Mac and cheese! We ate outside and had a view of the mountains which was so nice. Chicken had good flavor and the price was very reasonable for this special combo. The lady who helped us was super kind and friendly. Would definitely return!

Nice addition to PMC! I called with questions, the lady I spoke with was super nice and even texted me their menu since it's a bit different from the Lebec location. We got pulled pork Mac & cheese, side of hot links and slaw. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable! And yeah the food was really good. The pulled pork basically melts in your mouth. And hot links had just a bit of a kick.

What an awesome BBQ restaurant!! Nestled in PMC village sure by pine trees is the best BBQ spot I've had and I've had it all over the country!! I ordered the 2 meat plate with tri tip and ribs and sides of Mac n Chili beans! Food was so good I wanted to cuss!! Hands down best ribs you'll find! Perfectly smoked and seasoned and of course fall off the bone! Tri tip exploded with flavor!! Another bold statement is best Mac n Cheese I've ever had and I've had a lot! Don't believe me go check em out and see if I'm lying!! Also the owners were very friendly as well! Al comes by every table to chat, I told him this is the Best BBQ I've ever had!! He smiled with pride and said I hear that a lot but I appreciate it!! What an awesome response!! Worth the drive from where ever you're at!! Can't say enough!! We will be making this trip a few times a year at least!

From the moment we sat down, it was clear this place was special. Monet behind the bar was a standout, offering great recommendations that steered us toward some excellent choices. Though honestly, after trying several dishes, I'm convinced you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. The clam chowder with pub fries was incredible, and the harvest salad was a highlight too -- every ingredient felt intentional, coming together into something genuinely satisfying. You can tell the food and drinks are made with love, and it shows in every bite/sip. We are already planning our return, just for the food, ambience, and service alone. The atmosphere felt warm, lively, and welcoming in a way that made it easy to relax and enjoy the moment. The food there tasted genuinely good to me, and every dish had the kind of flavor that makes you slow down and appreciate what you're eating instead of rushing through it. I liked how comfortable everything felt, and I appreciated that I could enjoy my time without feeling pressured or hurried. I noticed a lot of teenagers at this location, which made sense because the place has a fun, friendly vibe that younger people would enjoy a lot. Seeing them there made me realize how much teenagers would love spending time at The Perch, especially since it gives them a spot where they can eat good food, talk, laugh, and feel like they belong. Even though this restaurant was new to me, I didn't realize how much there was to enjoy until I walked around and settled in. I've only visited The Perch one time in my life before writing this review, but that one visit was enough for me to understand why people speak so positively about it. It's one of the most comfortable and enjoyable restaurants I've been to in a while, and I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a place to enjoy good food, spend time with friends, and feel part of a lively environment. If you're in Frazier Park and want a spot that feels inviting and fun, The Perch is definitely worth checking out.

I ordered the bacon mushroom burger and my friend ordered the bacon mushroom grilled chicken sandwich and requested no bacon and substitute it with avocado. When the burgers arrived the one with avocado also had bacon. Not sure where we went wrong but she just took the bacon off. For the record, it was some of the best bacon I have had in a long time. Tuesday, March 10th, we traveled to Bakersfield to pick up a vehicle I had purchased, and of course had to stop by Kohnen's. It is difficult to walk away without a mini-pie (try them all, but blackberry is freaking amazing!!). As always, Danelle was there with her typical congeniality and work ethic! We love her!! I visited Kohnen's Bakery Tehachapi yesterday with my family, and this was honestly one of the…read moreworst customer service experiences I've ever had. I only purchased two items -- one cream puff and one slice of cheesecake -- but the cashier charged my card THREE times due to repeated mistakes. Here's exactly what happened: 1) My first card (Card A) was charged $11.20. The cashier asked me if I wanted a receipt, and I said yes. Then she told me the receipt didn't come out because the transaction "didn't go through," and asked me to provide my card again. 2) I gave the same card again, and this time she charged $11.69. 3) Then again, she told me that it didn't go through, so I used a different debit card (Card B), which was charged $11.20. While sitting at the table with my family, I immediately checked my bank account and thought I had only been charged twice. I spoke to a staff member at the store and requested a refund for one of the $11.20 charges, which was processed. However, today I realized I had actually been charged three times, meaning there was still another $11.20 that needed to be refunded. So I called the bakery and asked to speak with a manager. I spoke with someone named Danielle. I calmly explained the entire situation and told her I would send all my receipts and bank transaction records by email so they could double-check and confirm everything. She said ok and gave me their email address, but it was very long, and I was concerned about making a mistake while writing it down. So I politely asked if she could text me the email address instead. Her response was extremely rude -- she said, "I'm not required to do that," and told me to just write it down myself if I had a pen and paper. Although I was already uncomfortable with her attitude, I carefully wrote it down and sent the email. However, the email bounced back as invalid, even though I had confirmed the spelling with her multiple times over the phone. When I called again, Danielle answered and said, "Ma'am," in a very dismissive tone, and told me that they had found the three charges and had already processed refunds for both $11.20 transactions. I tried to confirm which card the refund was going to, since I used two different cards, but after putting me on hold for a long time, she read off a card number that was not mine. When I told her that wasn't my card, she insisted those were the only transactions for $11.20 yesterday and told me to "check my bank in a few days" and call back if the refund doesn't show up. And, she didn't apologize for the mistake, even though they charged my cards three times and wasted a significant amount of my time. Even yesterday, when I asked for an apology, I only received one reluctantly after I pointed out that they had made a mistake -- and even then, the response was dismissive, as if I should just accept it because they were "taking care of it." The attitude throughout this entire situation was rude, unprofessional, and extremely frustrating. The cheesecake was very good. But because of this experience, I would never come back. We drove all the way from Los Angeles to Tehachapi with my family, expecting a pleasant visit, but this bakery completely ruined the day. Being charged a total of $34.09 for just two small items due to repeated errors is unacceptable. If your staff cannot properly process payments, they should not be working as cashiers. Situations like this should never happen. What's even worse is that after making multiple mistakes, there was not a single sincere apology -- only attitude, dismissiveness, and instructions for me to keep checking my bank and call back again. My time is valuable. This entire situation could have been avoided if things were handled properly from the beginning. This was an extremely unpleasant experience, and I am very disappointed. Cf) For reference, the other $16.05 receipt is for bread that my brother purchased.
