Their drinks were right there by the front door as soon as we walked in, but we couldn't believe the size of the place or the massive amount of options across the board for all the items they sold. The market was impeccably clean and it literally had just about everything you could want, and the thing that struck us the most was how many various options of popcorn they carried (because it was in the aisle where we were standing in line) and they even had black kernel popcorn that we didn't even know existed. I live down in the valley and absolutely would love to have this market in my area! Last time I was here though, I had an absolutely horrible experience that made me never want to go back. I don't remember what the cashier's name was but he was youngish (not as young as most of the baggers) skinny, had a beard and possibly blue eyes. I assume he's new because I have never been treated with so much disrespect from the cashier's here and hadn't seen him before. I came into the check out line with my friend who had a SEPARATE order (I had alcohol in my order) was preparing to take out my credit card and ID when the guy tells me he will needs both me AND my friend's ID in order to sell to me. Which is absolutely ridiculous and I have never been asked this before by cashier's here. My friend's product was just a burrito from the deli so she obviously didn't bring her ID for that. I confirmed that it didn't matter to him that all the items were for me and that I would be paying for them separately from her. Had to drive her back to her house to get her ID, came back and they had thrown away her burrito (after being gone for maybe 10 minutes max) even though they had promised to set it aside till we got back. This man tried to tell me it was so called long standing policy which is complete bs, if I had known his name I would have called and just straight up reported him to management. Put a giant bummer on my night for absolutely no reason, plus it's stupid how you gonna ask me to provide an ID for the person behind me in line? Yea we were talking but she literally could've been a complete stranger, so this guy wouldn't have sold me my products just cause I was talking to someone behind me??? Like what if she was actually a stranger, he's gonna expect me to ask her to get her ID just so I a complete stranger can buy my groceries? Make it make sense and train your workers better, even the baggers (who bring me my pick up orders regularly) knew this guy was in the wrong. And going so far as to throwing out my friend's burrito after not being gone for long at all (she literally lives three blocks from the store) then trying to offer to make another in 15 minutes while the store is closing? It shows me this guy didn't expect me to come back and was simply just trying to get rid of me and my friend, like I thought you guys wanted to sell this stuff? Seriously guys you can do better. Two stars are only for the products, and the one bagger who has always been kind and respectful when I pick up my orders, do better with your staff. I won't be coming back unless it's for a pick up order when every other place in town is out of what I want. Horrible

This store has been recently renovated and expanded. The city has really hurt this store more than…read moreanyone realizes due to the expansion rules they have in our community. It was shocking to see they were able to take on a few closed down stores and expand. The store inside is much better than it was, which is why I'm sure it has been hurt by bad reviews. It's still small inside but has much more space than before. Their pricing is not that competitive on most items with an employee owned competitor store in Ventura really winning the battle of affordability. I hold off by going to this store unless it's urgent and I need some items. I don't shop here as a norm as what is sold here typically is sold at that store I referenced for much cheaper. However it's convenient and I'm sure many will pay the extra to avoid the commute to Ventura. I will say the employees here are much friendlier than they used to be. Seems they got rid of the problem ones and got much nicer ones.

I have shopped at this Ralphs every week for my family's groceries, but unfortunately, after my…read moreexperience last week, I no longer feel comfortable shopping at this location. For context, I was shopping with my two young children, ages 4 and 2, and I am also six months pregnant. While shopping, I encountered an employee operating a dust mop in several aisles. Rather than moving to the side when customers were trying to pass, customers with carts were expected to maneuver around the dust mop. This was a relatively minor issue, but it stood out to me as a lack of consideration for customers. The experience at checkout, however, was extremely disappointing. At the time, only one checkout lane was open. I waited approximately 10 minutes with a full cart while also trying to manage my two young children, who were becoming increasingly upset. When I finally reached the conveyor belt, I began unloading my groceries. I had already unloaded approximately half of my cart when another lane opened next to us. At that point, the cashier looked at me and said, "Sorry, this lane is closed," and placed a closed sign directly on the conveyor belt in front of the groceries I had already unloaded. I asked if she was serious because I was genuinely surprised that I was being asked to remove groceries I had already placed on the belt after waiting in line. Nevertheless, I had to put all of those groceries back into my cart while managing my two upset children. What made the situation particularly upsetting was that several employees stood nearby watching me struggle to reload the cart without offering to help or offering to move me directly to the newly opened register. Aaron, whom I believe may be a manager, was among the employees present. By the time I finished putting everything back into my cart, the line for the other register had filled again. I then had to go to the back of that line and wait approximately another 10 minutes. I will acknowledge that by that point I was visibly frustrated. However, while I was waiting and checking out, I could hear Aaron and other employees making comments to one another under their breath that appeared to be directed toward me. I felt embarrassed, judged, and incredibly unwelcome. What is especially disappointing is that there are several employees at this Ralphs whom I genuinely enjoy seeing because they have always been kind and friendly. Until this incident, this was the store where I routinely purchased my family's weekly groceries. I understand that registers need to close and employees have breaks, shift changes, and other responsibilities. My concern is not simply that the register closed... it is how the situation was handled. Once a customer who is six months pregnant and accompanied by two small children has waited in line for a good chunk of time and already unloaded half of a full grocery cart, I would expect basic courtesy and customer service. At the very least, someone could have helped me move my groceries or at least shown some compassion or understanding. I hope management reviews this incident with the employees involved. No customer should leave a grocery store feeling humiliated or unwelcome because they expected to finish checking out in the line they had already waited in. Unfortunately, after this experience, I have decided to take my family's weekly grocery shopping elsewhere.
