Caroline and a tall gentleman on the team, I apologize I can't remember his name, were incredibly kind and stepped in right away to get everything for me last second. I see them both all the time when I am in the store, and they are always positive and always provide great customer service. This experience was no different. They could have easily told me to reschedule, but instead they made it happen and were genuinely nice about it. That kind of customer service really stands out. I really appreciate the crew there. I was in Carpentaria visiting for a few days. This Albertson's grocery store was the closest to where we were staying. So we shopped at this Albertsons quite often during that time. I hear that the town only has a couple of grocery stores. This being one of them. The store is a chain and carried major brands. The interior and fixtures was a bit dated but clean and organized. Customer service ran the gamut of exceeding expectations to some twilight zone interactions with staff. No major calamities though. We hit up the deli several times. There was one particular woman that I struck up a conversation with on a couple occasions and from the first interaction she was engaging and fun to talk to. Infectious positive attitude. read more

Stopped by at 1:45 on Saturday afternoon to pick up a few things. Unfortunately, we had beer or we could've used self check out. The weight was over a half an hour as they only had two checkout lines open with a lot of people shopping. Not real good planning here. read more

Horrible service from Manager Rosie. Went here for some snacks & liquor purchase for a Birthday Vacation my partner & I were on. We took a bottle of Gran Malo that was in the Liquor Aisle posted for 23.99 up to purchase & Cashier said that the item wasn't ringing up in their system. He called over the Manager Rosie to check & same thing happened. I asked if we needed to get another GM bottle to scan & Rosie said that they couldn't sell the bottle because it doesn't show up in their system. We asked how that is possible if the item is on display and has a price. Immediately received attitude from Rosie that she couldn't do anything about it because it was the people who take care of her tags. We returned to the aisle to try & find something else, nothing was to our liking taste & price wise. We also risked the same thing happening to another liquor/ beer chosen. We Took a picture of the GM bottle & tag listed to kindly ask again, if Rosie could do anything else. We even asked if another bottle for the same price could get rung up and we take the GM bottle. Rosie responded with "Yeah if you want to pay my mortgage for me!" In that same sentence she mentioned the store could lose their liquor license. That is understandable, the comment about paying her mortgage was not. She gave no alternatives to help us out, had attitude the entire time, and was scummy when I asked to check the barcode numbering on the bottle to compare it to the tag listed in the aisle. If the item we were purchasing was a food item or something other than liquor & it wasn't showing up in the system, what would happen then? The service we received was nothing up to the standard of Albertsons promise to serve, nourish, & care for customers along with providing a Pleasant Shopping experience. My wife and I were staying for a couple of weeks in Carpinteria during the summer of '23 and there are two main grocery stores in Carpinteria, Alberson's and Smart and Final Extra! I like them both. They both have pretty good produce for a smallish town of 15,000 people and they both have a pretty good beverage selection. I love Crystal Light pitcher packages when not at home, they are perfect after 4 mile walks on the beach. They are so refreshing, they had like 10 flavors. They had pomegranate-cherry. WHAT!? I never even have heard of that. Plus they had like 8 types of "Scorchin'" Pringles, which are my new favorite type of "Chips" I only have a few a day, but they are a daily treat, especially after a good ten miles of walking a day. They also sell bus tickets for our weekend rides to Santa Barbara and lots of amenities. The service has always been great and they have self-checkouts as well. Plus they are an easy on and off the freeway and it is where the LAX shuttle drops people off that want to get off in Carpinteria. It is about a 1.2 mile walk to the place we stay, so it is just like everything in Carpinteria, within a mile away. read more

I've tried to get a refund for an overcharge of sodas, but to no avail. 1st time I was told 2 repurchase all the sodas, then I'll get a refund. Which didn't make sense and lines were down the isles. 2nd time I was told I had to have the app to get coupon. There is NO SIGN that says in the app, just reg deal. I told cashier that's false advertising and I've been getting my sodas there buy 2 get 2 free, or buy 2 get 1 free etc and never had a problem. Store has improved over time with self checkout. Still small and outdated, but staff is friendly and they do the best they can. I'dd give them a 4, but i've now been to self checkout twice and seen the polite employees deal with idiots that cut in line and damage the checkout equipment. I have been a customer of Albertsons and Vons for a long time and I generally consider their customer service to be adequate to very good, depending on the location. For example, the Vons at Camarillo has excellent customer service. But that's not remotely the case with this location in Carpinteria CA. This place stinks and has the lowest customer service I have experienced. I had 2 nasty experiences here. One was from a week back when I had bought a bottle of wine and sadly had to go to the cashier, rather than using the self-checkout. The jerk at the cashier told me with a wink wink, "are you having a party?" That was so offensive and stupid. But my experience today, takes the cake. I am at the self-checkout, about to put the 2 items I had bought into the bag I had brought into the store, when an extremely rude and offensive woman manning the self-checkout section, yelled at me, "if I had paid for the bag" and "where is my receipt." That is vomit-inducingly offensive. I filed a complaint against her with Albertson's corporate customer service mainly because upon calling the store manager to complain when I got home, I noticed that she wouldn't give a poop how her staff treat customers. read more

Be very vigilant and check every item on your receipt! Unfortunately, I have been overcharged the last 2 times I shopped there. The first time was approx 1-1/2 mo. ago when I purchased 4 boxes of Lipton Onion Soup mix. The ONLY reason I bought 4 boxes was because it had one of those sale tags (NOT one of the QR deals) attached to the right of the reg price tag that said: (must buy) 4 boxes for $1.49 ea. But instead of $6, they charged me $10! I didn't notice it until the next day at home, which is about an hour north. So apparently it's my fault for not being more diligent but one gets caught up in other things. I usually take a picture of the price tag but that day I'd left my phone in the car and was too lazy (or optimistic) to go and retrieve it (duh me).I did call Albertson's but they claimed ignorance. You'd think I would've learned my lesson but a couple of weeks after that I stopped by the same Albertsons in Carp (I again was returning home from VTA) and, among other items, purchased a plant because it had a decent price tag of $10.99. Little did I know the original price sticker of $19.99 was still on there, kind of hidden on the opposite side. Ok, I know I know: why didn't I check the price of each and every @#$%&! item? It sucks when you have to PRESUME you've been overcharged and take 10-15 minutes or so each time to meticulously check your purchases but that is reality. From now on, despite the long line of customers behind me, my day's schedule etc, I intend to check each and every item I buy. read more

Poor Albertsons. When the I5 closed Xmas Evening, everyone in SoCal going north had to take the 101 to head home for the holidays. After 3 hours stuck in traffic to go what normally takes an hour, the first exit with food/coffee/bathrooms and gas was this shopping center. Fortunately for ME I was only the second person in line to get 2 fresh made sandwiches, but the lines at this store (especially at the bathroom) definitely got the brunt of it. 12+ hours to go 446 miles is not my cup of tea, but I am thankful that this shopping center was open and my sandwich was delightful! read more

Came here while camping at the nearby state park to get some ice and other essentials. As supermarkets go, it's a nice one and conveniently located near the state beach area. It has a little bit of everything that you'll need to restock your fridge or to take out onto the beach! It's clean and the people are professional. read more

Came here this morning to get a few items for a breakfast picnic at the beach. Hard to find anything in the store, unlike most Albertsons, as the layout is not easy to follow. The reason for low score was the lack of service from employees- not very friendly at all, and as it was obvious I was looking for items (I passed what I thought were employees as they were stocking aisles. several of these employee did not have badges). Don't think I would recommend this store, but I don't that this would matter as they are one of the few grocery chains in the area. read more

Never my first choice as I find it expensive here overall and they do not have a loyalty/rewards card. But, there were a lot of clearance shelves to glance at at the rear and they had most of what we needed re. grocery. It was clean too. We were a bit pressed for time and so the location of this store was perfect. Lots of parking available. This Albertsons is in a plaza with many other stores for one stop shopping. We met a very nice local salsa maker with his display/samples here so of course we picked up a jar of that. The check out line was long-ish and there were not enough lanes open for a Friday afternoon but staff was friendly. So were the other customers, actually. We love Carpinteria! read more

We ordered some deli trays for after a memorial service. Ordering was a little hard... if you order online they want at least 48-hours advance notice. So we called... but the menu online isn't the menu they have in the stores. It will take a little bit to work that all out. But everything we ordered was ready to go when we arrived and looked fine. Store is compact but has everything you'll need. They do say they open a new register whenever a line has 3 or more people in it but... that's not really true. Still lines moved pretty fast on a weekend morning and everyone was friendly. Nice big parking lot - as befitting a suburban grocery store. Nothing superb. Nothing awful. I have been a customer for many many many years, usually this Albertsons is very nice, employees are always nice, but today I stoped to buy Torres Brandy, There was a sale going on if you buy six bottles your pay &15.99 each but if you don't it's $17.77 each, they only had 2, when I got into the register I showed her the sale and she called the manager, the manager told me that I have to buy all six NOW and pay for it even though they don't have it and not sure when they even going to have it back on the shelf, I have never experienced anything like this, she was not willing to adjust the price to the $15.99, I paid the $17.77, the money was not the issue since the difference is not that big of a deal but I have never ever ever told to pay for something I did not get and not sure if I'll get it , The manager was a little bit tipsy with me and I did not appreciate it, I spent hundreds of dollars every week on groceries at that Albertson's I think she should have adjust the price just for a good customer service, I think I'm just gonna go to the Ralph's in Santa Barbara next time read more

While attempting to self-check out, the attendant held the bag hostage until we paid for the items. This is not the usual practice to where I normally shop and was confused. When questioned she did not provide any explanation that made sense until after I made an issue of it. During the exchange she was extremely condescending and began to talk to us as if we were mentally challenged (slow and repeating the same info). She outright walked away from me as I was speaking. Incredibly rude! The other two staff members she was speaking to did absolutely nothing to remedy the situation. Not surprised this place only has 3.5 stars, as it's evident customer service is not a priority! read more

I stopped in because I was hungry for some snacks. Browsed the store since I had some spare time and found it to be clean and well stocked. Wide isles, good selection of bakery stuff, flowers and all your usual groceries. I like that they had some locally made snacks too like California Kettle Corn and Taco Works (out of SLO). Found the semi-unusual chips I wanted that other stores don't always carry, grabbed a Diet Coke by the checkout and I was happy. Convenient parking lot and the staff was friendly and helpful. The thing is albertsons only has to check stands open at 11 o'clock in the morning on a Sunday. They know darn well that a lot of people will be coming in. This particular store is doing a very badd job there were literally 39 people in line. This corporation is choosing to work on a skeleton crew instead of meeting the needs of their customers. O yes they're putting on a big show by spraying down people's cards and in forcing people wearing masks. Which we all know is pure bull shut. But like sheep we wear the mask and then we going to the store expecting to be able to get in and get out and were not able to because this particular albertsons is choosing to run their store on a skeleton crew. We all know why. So I chose to leave my groceries there and go elsewhere. read more

I shop here 2-4 times a week! Because it's walking distance. I don't think I have ever spent less than 5 minutes in line. This place is almost 20% MORE EXPENSIVE than Vons in Montecito. This Albertson's is the most expensive grocery store in the county! You think they could afford to have more than 2 lanes open when there are 10 people in one line! read more

I just wrote this place a 5 star review for service. That still stands. However, I just went to make myself a sandwich with the roast beef I bought in July 5th, it's the 10th, and I noticed it smelled funky. Not rotten, but not good.... so I checked the sell-by date, and the sell-by date was July 5th. How can you sell a half pound of roast beef to a person on the sell-by date without at LEAST letting them know that the product was being sold on the the it was to expire? Disappointed and hungry at 10pm without many options but to spend $20 on delivery food. read more

WHAT'S GREAT: + SELECTION: This store is well-stocked with a wide range of products. I've never had an issue with not being able to find the groceries and ingredients that I need. + COUPONS: They are integrated with the Albertsons mobile app, which makes it easy to browse the weekly circular through your mobile device, spot the deals, and curate your grocery list. + STAFF: Friendly employees, which means lots of smiles and hellos as you make your way through the aisles. WHAT'S NOT SO GREAT: - LINES: No matter what time I go, there is always a long line at check-out. They never seem to have enough lines open. And this is only exacerbated by the longgg conversations some of the checkers choose to carry on with customers. While I can appreciate the attempts to maintain the sense of community, at some point you have to consider the growing queue of people waiting to finish their errands. - QUALITY ASSURANCE: On multiple occasions I've seen several packages of moldy berries, moldy shredded cheese, and packages of salad gone completely bad. And these were not just one-off containers-- each time it was several packages of the same item, still on full display. I do wish this store made more of an effort to check these items and take a more proactive approach to remove these items from customers' views. BOTTOM LINE: I do like this grocery store. I really do. But just a fair warning if you plan on shopping here: double-check all of your produce and dairy products before purchasing, and give yourself ample time to wait to check out. read more

This Albertsons is great! It's a small town, so the locals have a pretty tight community. Not only do they look out for each other, they look our for visitors like me who are seeking a brighter guidance a common map can't provide. This store is super clean and it seems bigger than the Albertsons I've come across out in the Inland Empire. However, like all Albertsons things are a bit pricey. read more

So tired of standing in lines, waiting, waiting, waiting to pay Albertson's, and then when they finally bring another cashier round to help, that person takes someone at the end of the line who just arrived. These lazy cashiers cannot be bothered to show the slightest care about customers. How hard is it to just ask, "who's next in line?" Right, easy, but these lazy cashiers just walk to the end and signal that the person at the end of the line should follow them and get help 15 minutes earlier than those who have been waiting, waiting, waiting to pay. Damn Albertson's. No care for their customers. No decency. Not even the slightest politeness. read more

The deli department here is terrible. I go here all the time and went in to get a sandwich around noon on a Saturday. There was no line and the store wasn't busy. A older lady working the deli counter comes to help me and I say I want to get a sandwich. She checks with another lady, probably the supervisor, and she tells me in a rude way the sandwich counter is closed. When I ask why she said she was under staffed. There were like 6 people behind the deli counter and none of them were helping any customers a few appeared to be doing nothing. This has left a bad taste in my mouth for this Albertsons. I will say everyone in the produce dept has always been very helpful though. read more

I am a local of carpinteria, most of the employees are very nice and helpful. I have though noticed that the employees on self checkout are rude and more interested on there phone . When I was trying to process my purchase the machine marked that I needed assistance . The employee there was distracted with her phone and talking to another employee. She was even about to pass me being distracted with her phone . I had to personally call for her help and when she got to me she was rude and dismissive. read more

Called and asked if they sold fans. Was told by the guy who answered that they had a lot of them for sale. Even quoted me price ranges(4.99 - 25.00+). Arrived at the store 30 minutes later to find out that the store had no fans. And has not sold them in months. When I complained to the manager he told me I must've gotten the wrong store. I responded to have him call the other stores in SB if they carried fans. To which he said he was to busy avid couldn't help me.
