This has been my favorite little market for almost 10 years. They have a killer selection of craft beers, ciders, kombucha beer, wines and Mexican candies. Their prices are comparable to other stores in the area and selection sometimes even better. They have a private parking lot and are located just a few minutes away from Santa Claus Beach. Besides being my candy and alcohol shop, many come to Kims for their carnitas and burritos. They have a kitchen in the back where you can order food freshly made to-go. They also have meats to cook at home and all general food, beverage and emergency items. Great one stop shop for RV vacationers and campers. I definitely recommend! read more

This review is of Kim's Market Menudo....The food at Kim's is more expensive than other places in Carp but this place is more of the type of restaurant/togo food that you go to for convenience....I live in the condo complex next door so I go there when I'm lazy to drive somehwere for food or beer (they have a great beer selection but plan to pay $10-15 for a six pack)....now onto why I'm doing this review: The Menudo. By far, the best menudo in Carpinteria and I would even say SB. My mom, who's super picky about food & menudo loves their menudo. It's pricey ($13.99 i think) but it's so worth it. We've tried menudo from other places and Kim's is much better. (a) Its dosn't have hominy which is how it's traditionally served in central mexico but that also means you get more tripe. (b) The broth is soooo good as well and finally (c) the portions are generous. We pick up two menudos for three adults and it's more than enough. Anyways, if you're looking for Menudo you should go to Kim's on Saturday & Sundays. read more

The prices are NOT posted but have you ever heard of a breakfast burrito from a greasy liquor store counter for more than ten dollars? Me neither. Went to pay. ELEVEN DOLLARS (plus I tipped the cook so TWELVE DOLLARS). So twelve dollars for a greasy sludge of eggs and chorizo. Mediocre flavor. But - Twelve dollars. Let that sink it. I normally get my beer here. Today, I was hungry and decided to try their breakfast burrito with bacon and eggs. What I got was a sloppy, disgusting mess of refried beans with very little cheese, and a very, very small amount of bacon and eggs on one end of the burrito. What I didn't get was potatoes in my breakfast burrito. Completely tasteless and gross and greasy The prices are not listed on the menu. After reading reviews about the carnitas I tried to give them a shot. However, my first time ever trying Kim's market food became a huge disappointment. My boyfriend and I tried a carnitas torta and burrito both were filled with meat that tasted like beef and nothing like carnitas. Additionally, the meat it did have was filled with more fat than meat and super squishy. To top it all off I was over charged and ended up paying a total of $31 dollars. So for anyone reading this don't get food, check your receipts before leaving, and just stick to buy drinks or snacks. read more

Up until recently I had liked to go in to kims to pick up lunch because they are within walking distance and have decent mexican food, usually when a person walks into a place you are greeted, but upon entering the establishment, the greeting that precipitates a walk in didnt happen, so, no biggie, right. I thought that the cold service was due to a new employee at the register, he looked to be in his twenties and of arabic descent. I picked up what i was looking for and then I brought my merchandise to the register and when i placed the product on the counter the dude just looked me up and down and snorted, yes, snorted his nose at me- The utter contempt written on his face... I just so happen to be an effeminate gay man, as a paying customer whom has spent quite a bit of money and time there, his prejudice pisses me off, as all prejudice does, ignorance is not an excuse to be rude in 2015, not in AMERICA, not ANYWHERE! The food is not good enough for me to lower myself to self depreciation Prejudice is ugly,I just wanted to buy some butter for goodness sake, not ask this imbecile out on a date! I will gladly take my hard earned cash elsewhere, to a store that appreciates its customer base, prejudice free. I am a Carpinteria local and a long time customer. I am very upset that I had one of the young men at the cash register yell at me right after making a purchase and all I did was ask for my change to be in 1$ bills because I was also refilling my water containers outside. He yelled at me " What do you expect! To leave him with no cash to make change for customers!" I politely explained I needed the change to get water outside from the water machine. He didn't care. He proceeded to yell at me how I was going to take all his money! Five 1$ bills! And he yelled at me how is he going to be able to give change to other customers after me! Like it's my fault he's out of change! Completely disappointed and disrespected. After how much money I spend in the store and how polite I am with the staff. This is one individual. Not all the store staff is as rude and disrespectful as the employee that yelled at me. But I doubt I'll ever go back in. They don't seem to care about how they treat their returning customers. read more

Delicious food! We love the kitchen service and the carnitas! This is not a dinning establishment but it is your quick save if you're traveling and need a bite, headed to the beach or picking up dinner to go. They also sell asada, adovada and chicken to grill. read more

If you love plain and simple tacos the way its served in Mexico by street vendors, this is the place. Wide range of choices including lingua, brain, beef, pork and everything in between. Plenty of meat wrapped in two tortillas served wrapped individually in foil. These are not taco truck size. These are big. Its a liquor shop/mini-mart. Where the Tacos are made is at the butcher shop in the back. I stop off to buy tacos, pick-nick supplies and hit the beach for the day. Carpinteria is just before Santa Barbara and this shop is right off of the freeway. Stop off if you are on the way past here and pick up some food. There are some tables in front of the store, but I don't like hanging out there. Enjoy the simple pleasures of Mexican village. P.S., Kim is now retired but lives behind the store. The new folks running it have made some upgrades, but the butcher shop staff are the same and the tacos are still great. read more

Called to see if they carried bush mills honey and the guy I could tell was busy ringing customers in. I could tell he was multi tasking. Came in and he had people in line, apparently it's also an amazing Mexican food place. He asked me to wait politely even have me a coffee for my wait while he spoke to someone on the phone.
