I am a local of carpinteria, most of the employees are very nice and helpful. I have though noticed that the employees on self checkout are rude and more interested on there phone . When I was trying to process my purchase the machine marked that I needed assistance . The employee there was distracted with her phone and talking to another employee. She was even about to pass me being distracted with her phone . I had to personally call for her help and when she got to me she was rude and dismissive. read more

Called and asked if they sold fans. Was told by the guy who answered that they had a lot of them for sale. Even quoted me price ranges(4.99 - 25.00+). Arrived at the store 30 minutes later to find out that the store had no fans. And has not sold them in months. When I complained to the manager he told me I must've gotten the wrong store. I responded to have him call the other stores in SB if they carried fans. To which he said he was to busy avid couldn't help me. If you like being screwed in the as$ than this store is for you. read more

Store would not accept returns with a valid receipt. Purchased through Instacart and even offered to take store credit. Rude cashier and unhelpful store manager. Disappointing experience and will not shop Albertsons again read more

Note: bring your own bags I didn't expect an Albertson's in Carpinteria to be noteworthy. This Albertson is massive with a drug store adjacent to it. The produce was fresh. It had a huge selection of wine. It claims to be 100% refrigerated. It was pretty cold inside. read more

having "no bags" is really frustrating especially since their reusable bags are 2-3$ and they don't even offer you to use boxes as a for of taking out your groceries. This place was recently remodeled and it is wayyyy too huge in my opinion. read more

Beautiful store but for this review I am only going to cover the Service deli/Sushi bar/Jiuce Bar/ Bakery corner of the store...where all the prepared food comes from. This new remodeled section of the store is fantastic! Either for a quick lunch or dinner, they have everything you need and more! Fresh sushi made every day redefines the idea of 'store bought sushi' because this stuff is well made and very tasty. Not in the mood for that, they do freshly made hot and cold sandwiches however you like it, always delicious the many ones Ive received! A Full salad bar with a vast amount of options that change daily. Coffee, soda fountain, and a freaking juice bar with a full service menu of smoothies made to order...Rincon Red is perfect for a quick walk down the road to Carpinteria State Beach!! My favorite part about this full service section are the daily specials. Not many people know about the Service Delis 'Taco Tuesday.' Special. They only make these bad boys tuesday and they are amazing!! 1.50 each for street style tacos with either chicken, steak, or pork carnitas, onions, cilantro, and your choice of three fresh salsas!!! Happiness is calling the friendly associates, pre ordering about 15-20 of these, picking up a few cold drinks and having a nice lunch at the beach with your buddies. The best! This store is unique, it should be the destination for anyone gearing up for the beach or anywhere in the beautiful town of Carpinteria! read more

It is an Albertson's. Albeit a small one. But its not a bad idea to stop here for groceries on your way to Santa Barbara for camping or other outdoor activities. Its maybe a mile off the highway, and not crowded. read more

Okay for an emergency run or some very basic basics. But otherwise, this place had a smaller than average organic section (be careful, the organic sign extends far past where the organic food is actually located) and some of the organic items are not refreshed often enough to be considered fresh food (if I put my fingers through an onion when I'm trying to pick it up, I don't consider that food to be purchased. I consider that trash that should have been thrown out days ago.) The lines are very long (I realize this is probably due to the Vons/Haagen debacle but they could have hired more staff) and even in peak times, there's only a few lanes open at a time. Recently on a Tuesday afternoon around 5:30 I stood in one of TWO lines that went back halfway through the aisle behind the register. That was unacceptable. I know they're the only store in town (S&F isn't really a grocery store, so we don't have much choice even now.) But there's no excuse for rancid food and long lines like that. read more

Albertson's is, by far, the biggest and best grocery store in Carpinteria. It is clean, reasonably priced, and has a good selection of fresh products. There always seems to be a sale on something tasty in the deli and the employees are efficient and friendly. Checkout is usually quick and painless and the parking is ample. Oh, and the deals on buying 6 bottles of wine or 4 six packs of beer are great! read more

Wide range of selection. Friendly staff and it's open till midnight! Totally recommended!

Well stocked grocery store. Everything ran smoothly, and the prices were pretty fair. Clean too. read more

OK store. Frequently understaffed with insanely long checkout lines. Given the prices you'd think they could hire enough checkout clerks.

Thank you to our Carpinteria Albertson's for having first aid and medical supplies for us locals. It's good to have you in town when we need something quickly and nearby. read more

I had called ahead about whether or not they had sushi grade fish. The gentleman in the meat department answered promptly, and answered all my questions about fish. Knowledgeable and kind. Had just what we were looking for! read more

I really like they have a deli with a very wide selection of ready to go meals and foods. As a business traveler, staying at a local hotel, this is very convenient for me. It's a good way to still eat healthy and at a low cost. read more

Really tough...love the idea of the store but had major issues daily in person with all things from checkout to rx to registers to rudeness...long lines and high prices are a turn off...other locations are better...too bad bc the eco store should be a dream and is more like a nightmare. read more

It's a nice store to be sure. And they have a good selection, my only problem are the prices. Good gracious, I know we're a beach town and tourists shop here, but people live here too! Almost $5.00 for eggs? Really? And apples are hardly ever under $1.25. These are the staples that are getting so expensive. What we finally started doing was going to Trader Joe's and whatever we couldn't find we will be here! It's a bummer to have to do that, but it'll save us money. We also shop ads at Albertsons every week, because when stuff is on sale it usually really is a good deal! Just their regular prices are expensive. Also, I feel like their employees are a little hit an miss. Most of them great and are super friendly. The produce guys especially! So great when you get personalized help picking out a water melon! But every once in a while when you ask for help, you'll get the "I don't work in this department. I don't know these items" answer. This bugs me. It's fine when you don't know the answer. I truly don't expect that you know everything, but don't just leave me standing there. Get somebody that can help me, or guide me to somebody that can. (I really hope somebody from there reads this. Please train your employees, this would make shopping there better) read more

Carpinteria location is convenient and parking is good. Selection on some items needs to have more variety. Lines can be long at even odd hours. Restocking the shelves seems to take a long time. Items can be in odd locations for example honey is found near peanut butter. Usually it's near syrup and molasses. Sausages can be with cheese in the deli, or with the meat or over several aisles with breakfast items. Bread aisle can be odd. Familiar name brands like Pepperidge Farm and Wonder bread cannot be found. And Hellman's Mayo is no where to be found. Staff is friendly and if you can find them on the floor, helpful. No one is at the customer service desk. You have to wait until a cashier is free. Makes food shopping quite interesting. read more

Walked in close to closing, got a can of red bull. As I walked by the clerk to purchase my drink she scanned my can and popped the can open and took a swig of it and said $3.49. Either it was all the weed I smoked or the acid tablet l popped earlier that night, overall it was the awesomest visit ever. P.S She was smoking a cigarette. read more

Awesome selection - awesome prices awesome -lots of parking some great stores nearby including the massage place and Hugos across the street

I believe they have new management now. The produce section has vastly improved. No more gnats flying around rotting fruit and better dates on dairy, eggs, etc. The store seems much cleaner. Now you can actually get to the milk refrigerator case. There is no longer a table of products placed in the way that you have to trip over. The bakery section is surprisingly good! I've purchased a few cakes here and all have been fresh and delicious. The employees behind the bake section counter are very nice and helpful. Thanks for not blasting bubble gum music over the speakers! Great job. read more

For there only being 2 grocery stores in Carp I have to give this grocery store more credit. It is very small and can get very crowded at times. It does have a great selection and it's pretty easy to find what you're looking for. The prices are more affordable than Vons so you get what you pay for. They did go paperless about 3 months ago so don't forget to bring your own shopping bags. read more

I have been employed by the Albertsons in Carpinteria for 4 weeks as a front end person. I am a 75 year old Lady and I wanted to work about 20 hours a week the more hours that I work then i would loose my SSA and medicare. I have talked to the women supervisor and all she does is you are doing what I say your hours are and I will not change them. Every shift that I work and she is on also she will tap me on my shoulder to say you just make so many mistakes, I replied to her I sweep the floors and do the carts and human poop in the restroom with no gloves. I think that this is not right! Today Went in to talk to Mr Martinez the store Manager this was his reply dam it, you do so many mistakes and about my hours the remark was I will not change them, Are these concern for me, dam it yes. I feel that they treated me unfair and force me into quitting my job. I love all the customers they just love me. I just do not like the discrimination that they have shown towards me. Was not crowded and staff was very friendly and helpful. Great fresh bread. Is bagless so bring your own if you can.

Albertsons has a great selection of items, great cakes from the bakery and the staff is very friendly. TIP- bring your own shopping bags - they don't have any unless you buy the re-useable type from them. You can bring any type of bag, I even saw a women with a trash bag! read more

FREEZING COLD all the time. Great variety of produce and deli area. Prices slightly higher than Von's (if your shopping in Carp). Cashiers are very friendly and open another register when it's busy. Don't forget to bring your own bags in Carpinteria. read more

Since this albertsons got renovated, they really have increased my business. One star of because they don't have bags here, or any grocery store in Carp for that matter. I enjoy the vast selection and BOGO meats. Friendly staff is a plus! Great floral selection as well as produce. read more

Don't go there on a Sunday morning around breakfast time. They only have one cashier open and a long line. Not a good way to start your Sunday. People in line looked pissed cos obviously none of the staff felt like opening another register. Also their prices are ridiculous. What country do they think they live in? Monte Carlo? The Pavillions in Malibu is a Food4Less compared to Albertsons in Carpinteria. Seriously, drop your prices. No wonder there's so many homeless people in Carpinteria. But then again, being close to the highway the term "highway robbery" is fitting. lol read more

Store well stocked and well maintained. Staff is 5-star. My only complaints are: prices and waiting in line. Their prices are VERY high and I frequently shop Target in Ventura or Smart and Final to stock up on non-perishables. read more

can't even answer the phone, i've been on the line for almost 10 minutes & pressed 0 for customer service multiple times.

Came into Albertson's close to 11 o'clock. Saw a turkey, got scared, ran out. Overall good experience.

Omg grrr. Two visits. Not one. So I'm not just hitting them on a bad shift, or picking the single slow cashier. Omg. I'm standing in check out, both times checkout took longer than I spent shopping. SLOW is not the term. Reading a sign in front of me:"Threes a Crowd" stating they will open another register if they see three people in line. Hah. Now my intelligence is being insulted. Like I can't count over three?? (What's four and five...nine).... Not even close. I think I counted five or six each, in the two lanes that were open at nine pm on a Saturday nite. The following day, several lanes open but None moving. Two folks had bags of ice, I wanted tell them it would be melted by the time they escaped the store. ALSO Be aware if you are visiting Carpinteria, they've gone bagless...bring your own bag. But they were cool about that. Which is why they get two stars. Prices high, but what's new at Albertsons. read more

Wasn't aware that the customers had to buy their own bags for their groceries. Thanks for the heads up

This store was really terrific a year or two ago; since then it has slipped a bit in service-- and prices have risen. There are quite a few excellent checkers (Mario, for example) and a few good produce people (Shaska, for example), and an excellent gal in the meat/fish department (Liz). I agree with another comment here that George is a good, professional checker and he also handles a lot of stocking. I use the pharmacy too, and they try very hard but are also frequently very busy. recently they got a software upgrade which seems to have slowed things down. Nevertheless, several excellent counter people (Lisa, for example) and Carl working in the back always is comforting. I like the selection generally in this store, and the organic produce is quite ample, The store also makes an effort to buy local. The one problem I sometimes have is that we get used to some product that we really like and then it disappears. This happens a bit too frequently, IMO. read more

I go here almost daily for lunch so this review is specific to the deli. The sandwiches are great. And for 5.49 it's a steal. The fact that there is no extra charge for avocado is probably the biggest reason I come here. So why the 3 stars you ask? It's due to the complete disorganization going on behind the counter at the deli. There always seem to be people scrambling getting food together but helping the customers becomes second priority. How about prep everything before the lunch rush so you can focus on the customers? The people are all friendly, thank god, but they do seem to avoid the sandwich station like the plague and I don't blame them. It shouldn't take 10 min to put a single sandwich together. There has to be a better solution. If there are more than 2 people waiting I just go across the street to subway (I'd say this happens at least once a week). I can't wait around 30 min while the poor kid goes and slices the meat, looks for bread etc. with no one helping him out. A few weeks ago, I went to get a sandwich and they threw a new guy my way that obviously needed some help. He was anxious and nervous. It was obvious that he needed some direction and training. I felt bad for the poor kid. Fortunately I was patient and just watched as he spastically and frantically assembled the worst sandwich I had ever seen. He seemed completely lost and all the other workers just ignored him. To me it showed a lack of training by management. That said, big kudos to Josefine. She makes the best sandwiches there. Always with a smile. keeps me coming back. read more
