My daughter went into the store, mind you she's 18 with her gym clothes on. A manager insisted on dress coding her and telling her she's not going to be allowed to shop if she dresses like that. Completely unacceptable and basically harassment because my daughter has a body like a supermodel and they were standing around so intimidated by her body that they had to say something to her about shopping while wearing her gym clothes. So if you just get out the gym or dance practice, make sure you change and are completely covered up before you come into this store. read more

Went today to get food Saturday March 29th 2025. Usually get about $90 worth of cut steaks that they do for me instead there was no Butcher duty and we called the manager the manager said sorry with her little pink purse I'm going on break I'll help you when I get back. So she lost $100 sale because she wanted to go on break first. Will not be purchasing there we'll purchase them somewhere else. read more

Nice Mexican supermarket in Arvin that we stopped by when driving by on CA-223. They have a large hot foods/deli section which has pretty good tamales depending on which filling you get. They even had a pumpkin spice tamale!! Although it wasn't as good as the beef, pork, or pina ones. I'd highly recommend those! Prices here are super reasonable especially considering that it looks like a smaller town. I'd definitely stop by again the next time I drive by through town read more

If you're driving thru Arvin stop and l load up on homemade Mexican food. Also a good supermarket for everything else.

This place is great! I feel so sad there's poor reviews. I was in Tejon and wanted to find fresh produce and food to eat. I drove 17 miles which is a half hour drive away to go to the supermarket. And it was worth it! There were three different types of apples to choose from. I wasn't able to get baby carrots but I got large carrots. They even had some kitchen utensils I could buy for our hotel stay. They had amazing customer service they even walked me over to where I needed to go to find something. They have homemade flan, Mexican pastries, so many kinds like you're in Puerto Vallarta! I was so excited, I saw the largest pork rinds I've ever seen in my life 4 feet long. Give this place a chance! Let's get this rating up for this Mercado! read more

A little appreciation review for Vallarta Supermarket. If you've been to other Vallarta's you know they are all the same in terms of lay out. What I appreciate is that Vallarta has always been a great place to go and get ready made food that is freshly made. I come here all the time to get food for lunch and even dinner. I got 3 Asada tacos and I must say. They were very good. The meat was full of flavor. All the condiments that I wanted on my tacos were available. For dessert, I got some sweet bread and washed it all down with some Horchata. I was a bit nervous to eat here, because I've heard mixed reviews about Vallarta. When they have food sales they are good. I go here for the basics, milk bread eggs etc.. I love the environment and culture here. Just wish the variety of fish to choose from was broadened. Its mostly tilapia, would like to see some fresh salmon or tuna, but i doubt that'll happen. read more

Wow! What an experience! This grocery's deli makes the best Mexican food I have ever had. We got the carnitas tacos and the molcajete, all made right there, from the tortillas to the the sauces. My molcajete was spicy with a blend that allowed for the many individual spices to come out and be tasted without that boiled down muddy flavor that can so often happen with slowcooked food. So delicious! The carnitas in the tacos were flavorful and tender with no gristle or chunks of fat. The salsa bar had roasted jalapeños, salsa verde, salsa roja, fresh and sautéed onions, cilantro, and pickled peppers. And, the beans and rice were both quite flavorful, which I'm pretty sure I've never experienced before. Aside from all of that, the whole grocery is an incredible little market. It holds a giant butcher shop that had beautiful cuts of many traditional meats not common in U.S. markets, but also prepped meats for Mexican dishes with the spices and cutting already done. There is a massive panaderia with absolutely everything you ever missed from one in Mexico. There's even pre-made tamale masa ready for you to roll whatever you like to make your tamales into. The produce is piled high with fruits and vegetables of every sort. I mentioned this place to my aunt upon reaching San Luis Obispo the next day, and she knew exactly what I was talking about and said that when her husband worked in Arvin, he insisted on bringing her and her daughter for the experience and the food. She also said that she had a shopping bag from there and that someone recognized it and raved about it, also. The whole time I was there, lively Mexican folk music played, adding the the bustle of this crowded market in the middle of nowhere. Friendly and competent staff made it even better. This is the biggest grocery store in Arvin. So if you need a certain ingredient you kinda have to go here or drive 30min into Bakersfield. Bakery is crap when it comes to decorating and WRITING on your cake. I promise my 5yr can write better on a cake. And yes, I've given them more than one chance to redeem themselves. Spanish is not everyone's first language, so make it mandatory for your employees to know English!! This bothers a lot of people. Get with the program!! read more

It's the only supermarket in Arvin unless you want to go out of town and get grocery's. There express line is really a waste of time. My Grandma once say them reusing a cake. She said she say them take a cake and just re decorate them and they didn't have any gloves on! The only good thing there is that they actually have brands you buy. There lines are always down out the ice cream section if you wanna wait in line for 30 minute then go ahead. read more
