Love this grocery store. Has good sales all the time and great sales regularly. It is clean and well organized. It's a little pricier when not on sale but that's to be expected. It's my go-to for random "whatever I forgot" stuff since it's down the street and they always have what I need! I buy almost all my meat from here when on sale and it's always very good. This store location is conveniently located at The Marketplace. It has a few more vegan selections than the other Vons in town. It is clean but because of the location, sometimes attracts young kids who goof off (maybe going to the movies?). But the staff is firm with them and overall friendly with the public. read more

I'll come here all the time to get my to go sushi and other deli items and sometimes meat but the place is always clean. This is one of the best grocery stores in Bakersfield. It's always clean and fully stocked. They have the best meat, fruits and vegetables. Yes, they are pricey, but if you want quality over quantity then this is your store. Haven't had the best experience at this vons. I ordered some groceries for pick up and never received a confirmation email/ message that my order was ready. I called to follow up and they informed me they did not have my order. They were very polite and helpful as they were willing to grab my order items but the items I needed were not in stock so I canceled the order. They did not clarify if I needed to go back to to the store to receive my refund so i head to the store to initiate my refund. The person who helped me was polite however she was not clear in stating the next step so I was standing there for like 20-25 minutes waiting for her to return. VONS is always amazing that goes without a saying. It's one of my favorite grocery stores to shop in. They are always clean, stocked and have a great team that's always ready to help. However can I just take a minute to personally thank Nora and Ericka in the floral department. They are awesome, and greatly talented. I always go there for my flowers, I don't even shop around. Best grocery store sushi, it's made fresh a good amount of the day and you can even ask the chef to make something that is not out. It's not quite restaurant quality but it will satisfy that craving if you can't make it out. This store is nice, comfortable, the employees are helpful, and it has a starbucks and great(grocery) sushi. It is probably the best grocery store in the SW area. One thing I warn about at vons is their sale chicken, when I've gotten it it's had a really strange consistency and poor taste. I got it twice thinking it was a fluke or I cooked it poorly but the second time was proof that it is just poor quality. I don't think vons it much different in price or selection than other grocery stores. Most vons, this one included, have upgraded their stores to make them look nicer, especially in the produce and deli section. I only shop at vons or albertsons for sale items, if you are paying their normal prices you are normally over paying, that's just the way it is. read more

This Vons is probably the closest one to home. I'm a fan of Vons; however, I feel like it's a little bit on the pricier side here and so I don't shop here often. Vons have really nice looking produce, the fruits and Veggies always look fresh and ripe. This Vons stays pretty busy as this is in a busy area, it's located at The Marketplace and so the parking area is usually busy also. Although parking is pretty busy, you can always find a place to park as there's a lot of parking spots. One thing I do love about Vons is that no matter how busy it gets, I always notice they make sure to open up the other lanes to prevent congestion and to help their customers come in and go out quickly. Workers are always happy and always work with a smile, so coming here makes you feel good. I love the baked goods here, they have fantastic freshly baked bagels and the jalapeno and cheese ones are my favorite. They make really good cakes here also. If I forget to order my cakes from Smith's, then I just stop by Vons to pick up the champagne cake here and it's delicious. They also make other food items at the deli section and food is always yummy. read more

We got some immunizations taken care of at the pharmacy. The staff at the pharmacy is very kind and comforting AKA- the shots don't hurt too much. This store other than that is just the same old overpriced Vons that you can go to in any area of Bakersfield. For whatever it means, there is a very nice lady pharmacist who speaks fluently in Mandarin. And that is why I am a fan! read more

So I went to Vons to get some last minute decorations. I wanted balloons. DO NOT go to cons for balloons. They are crazy expensive for one thing and the girl I first asked was really kind of rude and a little confused maybe. so anyway I got one almost 6$ balloon which u can get this same one at dollar tree but I was already running late. So then I just got 6 if the cheapest ones and those were 2.75$ REALLY?? My daughter is worth it right!!! Anyway the 3$ ones did not even last 24 hrs This pic is 48hrs but you can tell they are fully blown up still but completely fell to the floor. Ugh I don't kno why it upsets me so much. Every time I've come here, something strange has happened. One time, someone was crying in the corner after getting into a fight outside. Another time, a man was trying to open a bottle of wine to drink in the aisle and a store worker found him and told him he can't keep doing it. Very interesting happenings here. This Vons has everything you need though. I am indeed a fan. I think I have hit all the grocers nearby home and this has to be my fave. I still like going to Sprouts in a pinch or to grab cool stuff at Trader Joe's but to me, this Vons on Ming has it all. I buy my flowers from here and other than Costco, I would say this store has the best deal with the freshest roses. I am not afraid to buy seafood here at the counter as I am some other places. I like the deli with their Primo honey ham and buffalo chicken breast. Also from the deli, their boneless chicken wings for when I just have not had a chance to grab lunch elsewhere. Staff members are all fairly decent. This Vons is large, clean and even has a small clearance shelf at the back with non-expired good stuff. The prices are pretty cheap off this shelf given the fact that the box or can may only have a slight dent. I do buy veg and fruit from here and have been happy with it. Not so much on the exotic side for that far out recipe but for everyday shopping, it works well. I like the bakery area too for their selection of whole wheat breads. As other reviewers have said, we have used the ATM here right at the door and find it quite convenient. We get coupons back almost every time we shop here! Using our Safeway rewards card really brings the total down at the cash too. Best overall for selection, staff and clientele. read more

We do not shop at Vons regularly. When we do go to Vons, this is one of the two locations in town that we will go to. The prices are not the lowest in town, but the Vons Club Card helps to get better deals. Everytime we've been to this store, it has been clean and well stocked. The staff has been good as well. This review is for the balloons & bakery department that assisted me in making my nephews birthday great. They have a bunch of really great cake designs (that aren't available online ) so the young girl on the phone literally had me choose categories and she found what I was looking for. Very patient. When I picked up my cake, the man was very nice and I was very happy with my dinosaur cake! Vons has a truly talented person in charge of merchandising displays. The produce is so artfully displayed, that I almost feel like I'm at a farmers market. The subdued lighting seems more apropos for a romantic assignation than a shopping trip, but considering my torrid love affair with food, it puts me in the mood every time. Vons is not the cheapest grocery store in town, but what they do have is a particularly good selection of those hard to find items that I just can't get everywhere else - and that comes at a price I'm willing to pay. Their deli has made to order sandwiches, heated chicken, wings, potato wedges, and mac and cheese in addition to the standard array of salads. They also have prepackaged but still mighty fresh salads and hot soups you can serve yourself. My favorite is the olive bar (bulk food) area where you can spoon yourself up Greek green olives with garlic, Calamata olives, garlic mushrooms, a Sicilian marinated mix, and Greek feta salad. They also carry both Odwalla and Naked smoothie varieties and some of my favorite diety treats including vitatop muffin tops and a better selection of Skinny Cow and Weight Watchers ice cream sandwiches and bars than anywhere else in town. Throw in more varieties and flavors of Greek style yogurt than anyone else in town and you've got a winning combination! Eat up! read more

I also purchased 2 bottles of wine and a pack of cigarettes today and I had no terrible experience at all. This location is cool just like the location that I work at in my opinion. I would like to actually review the 5 Star Vons located on Stockdale Hwy and California Ave across from the 93309 Post Office, but I cannot get that Vons to show up on YELP! Only the Ming Ave one in the Marketplace Shopping Center can be reviewed.But I want those reading about Vons on Ming to know there is an alternative! It is an AWESOME Vons grocery store on Stockdale Hwy that is full of kind employees EVERY SINGLE ONE, because Manager Leticia will not hire or tolerate anything less than sincere and kind people to work for her! Manager Robert is great as well and so is Manager Guy, who generally works the later afternoon through evenings. Robert is mornings til 5 and Leticia is midday from about 11am until 8pm. More shoutouts go to cashiers Monica and Jennifer who will remember customers and say hi and ask how you are when you see them in other places outside of Vons. The Ming Ave Vons and Coffee Rd Vons cannot compete with the older and well stocked Vons on Stockdale. The customers who shop here seem kinder and friendlier as well. Marketplace Vons on Ming has always been filled with rude employees even the managers. The Albertsons on Panama Lane is full of rude and impatient cashiers and managers as well. I drive 13 miles past 2 ALDIs, 2 Albertsons, A Dollar General, aGrocery Outlet, a Food Max and 2 Smart n Finals that are all closer in mileage than Stockdale Vons but I drive there at least 3-4 times a week even on a fixed income and with gas prices from $6.33-$6.88.This is testimony how great this Vons is!!! As I decide what unnecessary costs I can cut as not only gas prices are spiraling into ridiculous highs, DRIVING 16 miles round trip to VONS on STOCKDALE HWY WILL NEVER BE CONSIDERED AS An UNNECESSARY EXPENSE! I don't go there often, but tonight their were some punk kids by the door messing with all the shopping carts and being punks. I walked by them and went into the store. They came in after me, passed me while I was walking and started stealing candy bars from the check stands, opening them and eating them. At that point, I started following them. They were throwing things from one isle over to the other. I confronted two of them and told them to get the f out they kind of laughed and turned around and ran. The 4 of them all ran out of the store. I told a couple of male employees at the check stands and told them what I did and what the problem was and they wouldn't say a word. These kids were looking through the window like they were looking for me to come out. I told the male checker and told him about it but he completely ignored me. I walked out and the kids got on their bikes and started riding around popping wheelys. Like that was going to scare me. I waited for them to bring it on and attack a 68 year old man, but they didn't have the balls, much like the Vons staff. I just had to write this, because like I said, I don't go there much and this is at least the 3rd time punk kids on bikes have been a problem at that store, and this wasn't even the worst. This shopping trip was not enjoyable at all. The associates that I dealt with at this store do not have good customer service. Eddie the cashier was rude and acted like he did not want to be at work. I purchased an item that was rang up a different amount than was posted on the shelf, when I was leaving I realized it on my receipt so I went to customer service counter. The manager at the customer service counter told me to go back to the cashier as she was busy helping another customer. So I went back to the same cashier that rang me up, and they needed to have an "override" so they called over the same manager from customer service desk. Neither of them were personable or friendly. After an especially rough day of work, I made a stop at Vons on my way home (to pick up a bottle of wine and a snickers...because that makes everything better; right?). My rough day must have been written all over my face. My checker (Christi) and the manager (unfortunately I didn't take note of his name tag) were so kind. They gave me some words of encouragement and even a hug. While I was utterly embarrassed about being emotional in front of strangers, I really appreciated the kindness that was shown to me. I know this review may not be helpful to some shoppers but with so many grocery options to spend your money and time at, I think that this particular Vons location deserves recognition. I've been shopping at this location more and more since I moved a couple of months ago. I can't take it anymore. I have been a customer for years and this is the last straw. All I want is the products at the price that is advertised. When they change their rewards app every few months that requires a new download it's impossible to get the "digital coupon" unless you jump though the hoops. I am just not going to get screwed out of these "sale" prices anymore. It's a classic bait and switch to get you in the door and then overcharge at the register thinking you got a good price but got screwed. I reject this fascist mind control technic to "understand their customers", it's a manipulation to control you and keep you coming back. We have been customers of this Vons for years because it is close to where I work. The quality of their service has been worsening over the years, as other yelpers also shared. I did not write a review before, but decided to share my terrible experience today because I was physically hurt by one of their staff as she pushed the cart towards me rudely. This incident happened around 7:30pm on 09/09/2022 (i.e. today) at the self-checkout area. The staff member is a woman in her 50's. Shortly after the incident, she left the self-checkout area and worked as a cashier at a checkout line. Here is a summary of what I experienced. I brought two bags, and placed them at the bagging area following instruction from the machine. I did self checkout many time at this store and other stores, and did not think I did anything incorrectly. But right after I placed my bags at the bagging area, the machine instructed me to remove my bags from the bagging area and wait for service. I believed that it was the staff member who interfered my checkout using her machine. When she came to "service", she was extremely rude and disrespectful. She pushed the cart towards me and the metal part around the wheel run to my toe! It was so painful that I had to bend down. She saw that but had no reaction! When I told her what happened, she said "OK". Was it a proper or acceptable response when a store associate hurt a customer?! Did she have safety training before being allowed to work with customers? Her "service" was removing my empty bags and placing them to the bagging area again. Did she have trust or respect to customers? She left after re-placing my empty bags to the bagging area, but my toe was still painful! Did she target customers of certain gender or certain race? If so, she should be fired. Anyway, I do not think she should be allowed to work with customers at the self-checkout area anymore. Other staff should receive proper training, including safety training, training to avoid discriminatory acts, and training on professional and respectful communications with customers, before being allowed to work with customers. read more

Came here to grab some stuff for dinner and just noticed we live near this Vons but we don't go here. We used to go to the one off Stockdale/California but this one is better by leaps and bounds. When we first walked in we noticed that the layout was drastically different than we were used to and this store is bigger by a good margin. Another stand out here is that the layout and displays had more elegance, what I mean is it looks so much more clean and eye catching. It's weird because the Vons we are used to seemed very nice but this one is clearly above in appearance. We perused the aisles a bit just to see where things were and they have a few more items available. All of their produce looked really nice. I think we will frequent this Vons a bit more, our major grocery shopping is at WinCo but for quick pick-ups this will be good. The service at the register was nice and quick!! read more
