I can't take it anymore. I have been a customer for years and this is the last straw. All I want is the products at the price that is advertised. When they change their rewards app every few months that requires a new download it's impossible to get the "digital coupon" unless you jump though the hoops. I am just not going to get screwed out of these "sale" prices anymore. It's a classic bait and switch to get you in the door and then overcharge at the register thinking you got a good price but got screwed. I reject this fascist mind control technic to "understand their customers", it's a manipulation to control you and keep you coming back. Furthermore, requiring you to go to an app is ruining America just like Facebook is ruining America. Wake up people, Safeway/Vons/Albertsons are EVIL and we must stop helping them destroy us. read more

Vons - Turkey , bacon, ranch with avocado on a soft roll!! Yummm - Grocery Near Me - Bakersfield, California

We have been customers of this Vons for years because it is close to where I work. The quality of their service has been worsening over the years, as other yelpers also shared. I did not write a review before, but decided to share my terrible experience today because I was physically hurt by one of their staff as she pushed the cart towards me rudely. This incident happened around 7:30pm on 09/09/2022 (i.e. today) at the self-checkout area. The staff member is a woman in her 50's. Shortly after the incident, she left the self-checkout area and worked as a cashier at a checkout line. Here is a summary of what I experienced. I brought two bags, and placed them at the bagging area following instruction from the machine. I did self checkout many time at this store and other stores, and did not think I did anything incorrectly. But right after I placed my bags at the bagging area, the machine instructed me to remove my bags from the bagging area and wait for service. I believed that it was the staff member who interfered my checkout using her machine. When she came to "service", she was extremely rude and disrespectful. She pushed the cart towards me and the metal part around the wheel run to my toe! It was so painful that I had to bend down. She saw that but had no reaction! When I told her what happened, she said "OK". Was it a proper or acceptable response when a store associate hurt a customer?! Did she have safety training before being allowed to work with customers? Her "service" was removing my empty bags and placing them to the bagging area again. Did she have trust or respect to customers? She left after re-placing my empty bags to the bagging area, but my toe was still painful! Did she target customers of certain gender or certain race? If so, she should be fired. Anyway, I do not think she should be allowed to work with customers at the self-checkout area anymore. Other staff should receive proper training, including safety training, training to avoid discriminatory acts, and training on professional and respectful communications with customers, before being allowed to work with customers. read more

Came here to grab some stuff for dinner and just noticed we live near this Vons but we don't go here. We used to go to the one off Stockdale/California but this one is better by leaps and bounds. When we first walked in we noticed that the layout was drastically different than we were used to and this store is bigger by a good margin. Another stand out here is that the layout and displays had more elegance, what I mean is it looks so much more clean and eye catching. It's weird because the Vons we are used to seemed very nice but this one is clearly above in appearance. We perused the aisles a bit just to see where things were and they have a few more items available. All of their produce looked really nice. I think we will frequent this Vons a bit more, our major grocery shopping is at WinCo but for quick pick-ups this will be good. The service at the register was nice and quick!! read more

The manager is very rude and disrespectful, I purchased a bottle of tequila and it had already had the seal broken and it was replaced with water but I did not realize until I got home and made myself a drink. I went back immediately and try to get another bottle or a refund and the lady did not believe me and told me that she could not do anything to help me and was very disrespectful and rude. Will never shop here again! Especially because I had purchased over $200 worth of items when I also bought the tequila bottle, so there was no reason to lie and I had the receipt with me. Very rude manager and poor customer service! read more

Vons are (for the most part) very similar in design and layout. And being a get-in-get-out kind of shopper, I appreciate knowing my plan of attack before I arrive. This Vons has always kept up its appearance, maintained it's stock levels, and encouraged excellent customer service with its staff. The only thing that distinguishes this grocery from a 5 star store, is the selection of wines and cheese. It's not that their selection is poor, but they could definitely do better. It's places like Whole Foods that manages to keep my expectations high. But until we get a WF here in Bako, I'll be more than happy shopping at Vons. read more

I love Vons and always like to shop at them when in Bakersfield on business but this location's staff was so rude. I asked a guy where the sirloin was and he walked me there and pointed to it then just walked away. Not a here you go, anything else I can help you with nothing... The cashier and bagger were also very rude, not a hello, have a nice day and they had this smug arrogant look on their faces like I wasn't good enough to shop in their store. Never had experience like this at any other Vons. The location on Stockdale is way better and employees are friendlier. read more

This store is a very nice Vons.. Occasionally I stop in for a quick bite to eat for lunch, sandwiches or sushi. I never shop here as it is just too expensive. My main complaint about this place is around the lunch hour there is always long lines at the checkouts. They always call for back up and almost everytime, when the back up get there they take the last person in the line. It just isnt right, they should take the next person that has not put there groceries/lunch on the conveyor belt as they had been waiting the longest. read more

Beyond Disappointed, shocked and frustrated. I understand mistakes happen. Especially with new food delivery service starting out. I ordered food $68 VONS charged me but 8 most expensive items not delivered. I was told they apologize and would bring the rest of the food the next day. They have my money and said there still working on this issue. Ridiculous! Thank Brock at Cons on Ming for doing nothing to fix this. Calling Corporate! read more

If you have time to waste then you should visit this grocery store. They will not open more than one line of checking regardless of how much is in the peoples' baskets ahead of you. And if you ask, they will be rude. read more

As a frequent customer of Von's in the Marketplace, today I was unpleasantly disgusted in the customer service that Gina offered @ the Customer Service counter & will have second thoughts when considering my grocery & customer service needs! By far the worst! read more

Definitely a 4 star worthy vons. It is located in an awesome location, all the staff are always friendly, very clean, huge variety and lately they have also started selling organic products. Also they have a small starbucks inside. Great grocery store. read more

Clean and friendly like most Vons. They always have plenty of checkers, if the line gets long they always pull someone to help with the line. I always like to grab there premade sandwiches, they are Huge and perfect for a picnic. The soups to go are delicious and great for a quick meal, all located in the deli area. read more

My bad experience years ago turned into that racist security guard being fired at some point shortly after my horrible interaction with him. Since then the service and diverse availability of goods have been nothing but great; a little on the pricey side, but they have unique choices and I would definitely recommend 10 times out of 10. read more

Recently this Vons has gone organic. now offers a large square footage of its' produce section to fresh local and California organic fruits and vegetables. It is incredible. As you approach other isles you see more and more of the organic and gluten free products also. It is obvious that Vons has made a commitment to display the best and seek out the best farms to supply this ever growing demand from the public.... just a whisper.... they put L.ss..s and T....R J..s to shame in quality and brands offered and the prices are comparable and even lower than the above stores. Check it out.... read more

i like the chicken wings ($6.99 per pound) & the soups they have in the deli here; large soup at only $3.99 (steak chili + gumbo are 2 really great options). their spicy chicken wings are tasty too; and affordable if you don't want to head to a buffalo wild wings. read more

I left a very important schedule book in vons and I called two days later and they had it! They are very helpful and honest.

I try to understand. I try to be understanding. I try to be gracious, but MAN, when you get less than HALF of what you ordered, then maybe it is time that they either A)have a computerized inventory management that says OUT OF ORDER AT THIS TIME, so you don't expect that it is in, or B) stop playing deliberate games. I ordered through Vons... and I got an Albertson's reply. The groceries arrived in generic bags. Now, if they are playing games called "convenient to them," then this is why I NEVER get the Vons baked bread if all three of their stores' orders (Vons, Safeway, and Albertsons) are coming out of a generic warehouse. IF THAT'S THE CASE, STOP OFFERING STUFF THAT WE CANNOT HAVE! I do not eat a lot of bread...Vons' homebaked bread is the only one I buy. Funny, when I GO INTO Vons, it is available 98% of the time, but when I order it online, it is 100% "OUT OF STOCK." Vons in person has Select Pistachio ice cream 100% of the time, BUT...it is 100% OUT OF STOCK when ordered online. Stop advertising it if you do not want to \ or cannot fulfill the order!!! On a last note, the site is NOT user friendly... I crossed and crisscrossed so many times that I LOST, YES LOST, my milk order and another! read more

Overpriced, same quality of products than Walmart, but very convenient location, friendly staff and less crowed.

It kills me to write this review but over the last couple of years the quality of this store has gone downhill. I cannot go back after my last visit. The ground beef I purchased August 2 was dated July 31. My fault for not checking the date before I bought it, but why was it still out? The bag of potatoes I bought were starting to rot. On top of all that I was charged for an item I didn't purchase. I returned the meat and potatoes on August 5 and showed the girl at customer service the extra charge on my receipt. She scanned everything, gave me my money back and never once said a word to me. Customer service is atrocious. Eight people in one line and when a new register was opened they took the person that had just gotten at the end of the line not the next customer. I needed lemons and limes, two employees chitchating in front of them. They just glared at me when I said excuse me. Overlooked bakery items, expired items, sour milk, tomatoes that when they're cut open are sprouting inside. The list goes on and on. The most expensive grocery store in town. I won't be shopping here anymore. read more

See all

Ok, I shop here because it it convenient. But it is very expensive. And what bothers me more than that is the unfriendly attitude of the employees. 2 times in the past week I have been made to feel more of a nuisance than a valued customer. I'll drive to WinCo firstly for significant savings but also, for the friendly helpful attitude of each and every employee. read more

I went in to grab a sandwich at 9:45 pm for work the next day. However, the gal behind the counter refused to make me one even though she said the deli didn't close until 10pm. Still, she kinda gave the vibe that she just didn't want to go through the effort. I am a huge fan of Safeway/ Vons, but was a bit dissatisfied with the service. Next time, i'll spend the extra and go to the sequoia sandwich shop across the street. read more

This is the best Vons in Bakersfield. It is large and the organic product selection is great. I have tried many of the deli items. They are always fresh, salads are delicious, and prices are fair. And honestly, the staff has been nothing but courteous, pleasant, and helpful. It's been a pleasant shopping experience every time. read more

Love this store. Always clean and stocked. Great service and always has something "special" when I am in the mood. From sushi to Starbucks to a bakery and food. This place has it all. There is a caution, all the above mentioned isn't cheap and while they don't have the lowest prices if you use your bone club you will come out ahead. Way to go Vons and this stores management and team. Woohoo. read more

Vons is always clean, presentable, and has excellent customer service no matter what department you go to. I frequent their deli and am never disappointed in quality and freshness. Although the store overall is a little pricey, it is well worth it given the comfortable and safe atmosphere. My boyfriend and I shop here often, it's a wonderful store! read more

We went to the bank ATM inside this location. No problems. 5-star for having an ATM !!!

This is probably the nicest Vons in Bakersfield. Located in the Market place like next door to Rite Aid. The store is lit very well and always stocked. I really like the bakery area. They have awesome french bread and its like only like $1.50. Staff is really nice, they'll offer to take your groceries to your car even if your not an old person lol. read more

Located at the Marketplace, this is a great pit stop for goodies before a movie :). It's also a great place to get a few groceries. I'm not the biggest fan of their prices, however the quality of their food is great. The shelves have always been well stocked and the store was very clean. Friendly staff, will definitely continue to shop here. read more

Is the store clean? Sure, it's not bad. Are the prices good? Far from it. Is the customer service good? Not at all. I counted 4 courtesy clerks that walked passed me without even acknowledging me. One of them, a guy, was on his phone, in the store. If your phone is more important then your job, stay at home. read more

This is my favorite grocery store to shop at. Excellent fresh selection and very nice people at the check out registers.

The worst customer services ever, especially at the deli counter. There is one guy that's a little hunched over and has a limp. He hates his life working there. Dude just quit and let someone else that needs the money and knows how to appreciate the customer take over. Every time I go and put my order in he gives me attitude because I get a lot of things and request for it to be sliced thin. He hates that so he started ignoring me and I thought it was just me reading too much into it until today. He had the nerve to be talking crap about me to the lady that was helping me and he thought I didn't hear or see but guess what I did. Man you don't know who you're dealing with, he probably thought I am a trashy person but guess again, I am a highly educated person and have money and I don't have to work a minimum wage job like you. I am the reason you still have a job and that Vons is still in business. I don't know how you can live with yourself being such a negative, trashy person as you are. read more

This Vons is your standard California supermarket, with a slightly upscale twist. There is a Starbucks kiosk, a good selection of prepared foods in the deli, and more organic fruits and vegetables than usual. The prices might be a little on the higher side, but there are also sales on certain items. Using the Just4U program will help bring prices down a bit, but this store is more about the quality and experience than low prices. Cashiers are generally friendly. read more
