The store looked great, shiny floors, lots of friendly workers almost all asked if I was finding everything. We needed some of their fresh produce, a few items from the dairy box and 6 or 7 grocery items and a package of hard to find Thomas sourdough English muffins from the Bakery isle.. BEWARE! This is for their "fresh made" pizza. Our family loved, LOVED Leonardis Pizza from WinCo. Good tasting and a great value. Recently they changed their pizza and it is just not edible anymore. The last two times ordering it has been very underwhelming. Skimpy toppings and last night half of my family got sick. I don't know if it's a new sauce or dairy (cheese) in the pizza but it's definitely a no go for our family in the future. (Our order included cheese, pepperoni and combo). I wish they would go back to the original pizzas but in trying to save costs they changed their pizza and it's just no bueno. read more

I real enjoy this store. The staff is always so friendly & helpful. The store is always clean and well stocked. The choices are numerous and varied. I enjoy the meat department, You can find some interesting items there. If you want something don't wait. It may not be there next time you go in. Recently I found chicken feet which make a nourishing and delicious collagen broth. I also purchased beef marrow bones, such a delicacy! They were reasonably priced, especially because you pay very high prices in a restaurant for them. They have a beautiful, fresh & well stocked produce section. Well, here I go again! After reading the stunning, glowing review for "The Winning Company" it took my breath away. Literally, because our experience the day after Christmas could not have been further from that "glowing" review (which almost seemed in and of itself "too good to be true"). I just almost felt like whomever wrote it must have worked (or is working) for them...? Well on December 26, 2024, we went to WinCo. I just used to love shopping there. Friendly employees, honest, respectful, helpful...alas...THAT was "too good to be true" on this visit. We purchased what was needed, and I counted our items in the cart before stepping in to the "self-serve" line to check out. Before we began, the stationary employee sitting on her 'perch/stool' marched over in front of our cart with a very disgruntled facial expression as she began to count items in our cart. I thought, hmm, maybe she just was annoyed having to get up from her 'perch?' As my husband was cashiering, all of a sudden a young bullnosed-pierced female employee appearing to receive direction from 'perch lady' pushed herself right in front of my husband whilst cashiering, forcing him to step aside. Mind you all the while I was standing behind the cart, observing this. Curiosity arose within me and I asked my husband what that was all about and he said he didn't know because the bullnosed-pierced female employee did not say a word. She just shoved herself in front of him - without permission!!!! OMG! Can you even believe that sh*t??? Such respect, courtesy and kindness. WOW. Finally, he asked 'perch lady' and bullnosed-pierced female employee what that was done for, and "BNFE" explained. WinCo's claim to fame is an "employee owned" store. Well, the ONLY thing they seem to own (on more than one occasion) is their BAD ATTITUDES. Yes, indeed, that they do own...along with being a so-called "low price leader?" Nice place with lots of great choices in groceries, pet food , kitchenware, toiletries, fresh made pastries & a nice meat counter, all for good prices.. there meats are priced well, & the place is kept clean i.e. their bathrooms. They sell in bulk at the Panama Street & a few items in bulk at the Coffee St stores. The cashier's are usually pretty nice, courteous & made sure you're packed up before they crowd you with another person. I'm handicapped & always find a get-a-round shopping scooter plus if you need help packing your groceries there's usually someone to help. Good place for us seniors on a budget to shop . We shop WinCo almost weekly. The employees are helpful and friendly. Most items we buy are less expensive than WalMart by 50 cent to occasionally a couple dollars. We love the bulk items, such as flours, dried fruits, nuts, candy, seeds, etc., etc. The deli people are very accommodating. They do not take credit cards but do take debit cards and cash. We feel it's a very good place to shop! read more

I recently learned about Winco and I love it! First off the store is always clean and well lit. The produce is fresh, the shelves are well stocked and there is an abundance of fresh meat, poultry and salmon. There is even bulk dry goods, bulk pet food and a deli counter. I've shopped the major stores Vons, Ralph's, Albertsons, Jons, but Winco far surpasses with great choices, friendly staff and quick check out..did I forget to mention a very large parking lot. I am overall very pleased with Winco. I think if they had more stores throughout California, they would take business from the larger known stores. GREAT JOB WINCO! read more

I have always enjoyed shopping at WINCO for several yars now. However recently I have found the employees who work at the Coffee Rd Bakersfield location to be rude, unprofessional and unhelpful. Example, recent was in the meat department. The male stocker ( all tatooed up) just stood there and would not move as I tried to get a item. I was polite, said excuse me 2-3 times and he just stood there blocking my way. Finally, I just reach over this person and got my item. Today I went there and used the self checkout. The older lady working self checkout was rude and unhelpful when I politely her to scan the cases of water I had in my basket. The quality of employees and customers service is horrible. Will not be shopping there anymore. So much for employee owned store. They just don't get it. read more

WinCo has always been my go-to for affordable, quality products. I particularly enjoy their bulk section that has TONS of products from coffee, to grains, cereals, spices, teas, flours, candy, pet food, and lots more! The stores are nicely standardized meaning they are pretty similar to each other and CLEAN. Staff is friendly and helpful and can easily be located if you need something. Prices are very reasonable and WinCo implemented shorter wait lines during busy times, they would earn 5 stars! read more

I love Winco's prices and selection, so my family always shops here. We've never had any issues, etc. Everyone has always happy and helpful and it's always clean. My only complaint would be today's trip. I understand they ask how many bags, etc; I told the older woman helping us 10 total. She argued with me that I needed 15. I kept saying, no, I only wanted 10. Especially since I'm paying for it, I am going to choose how many I use. Well, she wasn't happy with that answer. So she proceeded to ask my husband: "10? Are you sure?" And he said: "Yeah.. 10." Still unhappy with that response, while helping the next customers in line, she stared me down the entire time packing the bags up to make sure I used only 10 like her life depended on it. And guess how many I left with ... TEN. Again, I get it. But, in my opinion, it was very rude and uncalled for. I'm not sure if they get fired over bags now or what. But. That's how today's trip went. I'd love to keep coming back, but not if that's the customer service received. read more

This store is right around the corner and cheaper than Vons next door by a lot but I always go to Vons because who wants to stand in a 30 minute line of people. You can even go to this store at midnight and stand in line for 30 minutes ! I'd rather drive across town ! A man who works their named "Thomas G" was probably the most rudest person I've ever encountered. A man who works their name, Thomas G I went in there with my support animal, and he looked at me like I ruined his day and said you can't bring your dog in here! I continued to ask him different questions on rules and certain stipulations because my dog is a registered animal for my disability. And he kept on sighing and acting like his day was ruined. I called the manager after I struggled to get my dog out of the store because I had groceries in my cart. Also, the manager didn't give me his name. It's unfortunate because I really do like going to that store and their prices are very affordable. I had a horrible experience with Lucy! My husband and I went in to grab stuff for dinner and we had purchased a case of Corona's, mind you we always shop here, and she has the nerve to look at my husbands ID suspiciously as if we were committing fraud as if that ID photo wasn't him. She handed it back with a smug look on her face and said "I guess if you're going to say that's you". That's very rude and offensive she made it seem as we are in the wrong, WHO wouldn't take offense to that? And when confronted she told us she does that to everybody. Well that's a horrible experience for everyone she must do that to. Lucy needs to be reevaluated and has many areas of opportunity to work on especially her attitude! But mostly what I have found is that the staff is mostly just moderately helpful and nice. And what I like most is the pizza, and the staff at the pizza spot are super helpful! For a long time this WinCo was my "go to" grocery store to shop at, until they built the other WinCo closer to home. WinCo in general is one of my favorite grocery stores for the simple fact that the prices are usually lower than other places. Yes, you can find other deals elsewhere, but for the most part you will usually find a great deal at WinCo. This WinCo is so far out on the north side of Bakersfield; however, for the past years, more and more businesses/homes have been built nearby so the accessibility for people is getting easier. They have really nice produce here and meats are really cheap, I rather shop at WinCo for my meats because you find better deals here versus other places. Parking is pretty big, so there's never problems parking. Lines can get pretty crazy, but they now have self-check out so that's always a plus for people that are in a rush and only have a few items. This particular WinCo has it's ups and downs. Some days carts are thrown everywhere in the parking lot, but for the most part is usually taken care of, the store stays pretty clean, but the restrooms are really disgusting. Sorry WinCo. I rarely ever use public restrooms, but once I went in to use the toilet one day and I didn't end up using it. Every stall looked disastrous, I probably will never use the restrooms here again, but the store in general is great and is my number 1 grocery place. read more

Does become very crowded with long waits for a cashier. Only accepts cash and debit cards but now Im thinking about it I don't remember if they accept cash. I know they do not accept credit cards. Their savings are not that great considering there are no baggers or assistance at the front from people trying to bag their own groceries. I have rarely found their fruits/vegetables fresh. Since their remodel there selection has increased alot. Their store brand is beyond awful in soup/canned goods and what they replaced with something worse is the potato chips. I go there because its close, open 24/7 and has ample parking with lots of cart returns. read more

I went to Winco this morning at 7am. Purchase 16 items. There was one check stand open and a line a mile long so i headed to self check out. I hate self check out but i only had a few things. I got to the entrance of the self check out and the employee sitting on her perch 10 yards away said i couldn't use self check out Because i had too many items. I'm sorry, how can she actually count from 10 yards away sitting on her perch and if theft is so bad in the self check out then why isn't she walking around monitoring people? Oh wow! I have 1 item too many so i can't use self check out! Customer service is so bad here and employees are so LAZY!!! Maybe the theft wouldn't be so bad if you did your jobs well! read more

This is a grocery store, so obviously it has all your standard things. Here's what I love about WinCo: 1) open 24 hours 2) prices are pretty low on most items 3) employees here are pretty friendly 4) I can almost always find a good parking spot 5) Bulk bins!!!! 6) lots of selection At winco, just remember you bag your own groceries and the liquor is sold at the front of the store near customer service rather than in the store areas like beer and wine. The deli and bakery closes down every night so if you have special requests, you have to show up during normal hours. They have a pizza shop inside that I've never tried, but the prices are so good I'm always tempted! Overall I can usually get everything I need from winco, but they don't take credit cards so that kind of sucks when I want the cash back rewards. I had a friend recommend this store to me and unfortunately my experience wasn't the best. To start when I got my eggs, there were broken eggs all inside of the cooler. When looking for an item I asked an employee named Mike where I could find it. His response was to point in a general direction saying, "I think it is over that way", while he tried continuing on his way. Confused I said, "that way"? He then responded with, "I am not a grocery clerk. I am a boss". He talks in a very hostile manner, with a very sour expression. I was pretty taken back at his customer service skills. I ended up finding my item myself after a few minutes of wandering. Then when it came time to check out, I told the cashier I had a water in my cart, but he never charged me for it. We love Winco! The prices on all the food is great. They have a very large produce section that includes organic produce. The store is always clean and well stocked. They have a nice deli with excellent prices on the meat almost half the price of the other stores. The seafood section is pretty great as well. They also make sushi in house. I have not tried the sushi but I was told it was pretty good for supermarket sushi. One cool thing about the Coffee road location is they have a pizza place inside. You can get take and bake or have them cook it for you. Order the BBQ chicken and you will think you ordered an expensive gourmet pizza, but it only costs $11. I brought one home and it was a hit! I love this store. I like the prices, I like the fantastic selections, I love, love, the bulk foods, and I love the people that work here with their awesome customer service. It's my favorite grocery store anywhere. I've lived all over the country; and this really is my favorite grocery store of all time. They have a huge selection of bulk bin items from pink salt to spelt flour to 4 kinds of pistachios. Bulk spices (save your old jars!) custom coffee beans, and tons of candies, dried beans, rice pilaf mixes, ranch dressing and brown gravy mix- well you get the point. It's a huge selection. Sure you can go to fancier stores but I like walking out of WinCo having bought a weeks worth of groceries for 40 or 50 bucks instead of 80 or 90 like it would be at Vons or Albertsons. read more
