They are so authentically delicious, they remind me of my Mother in Law's tortillas from a long time ago, so delicious! Maybe I'm weird, but I think store bought ones have an aftertaste, even the ones that are made on-site, and when you look at the ingredients, you see why! The ingredients in Carnitas Uruapan's tortillas are minimal, like a tortilla should be! The carnitas were delicious, not burnt or dry, perfect! And the Pan Dulce...Sweet, fresh, and huge! My family was pleased! The staff was kind, helpful and seemed actually happy to be working there, which is rare these days, especially on a random Tuesday afternoon. The store was clean and well stocked, organized shelves and easy to spot just what you're looking for! Be careful on your way out, if you're not paying attention you might walk off the high step, there wasn't a railing but thankfully I caught myself, but seriously, that was more my fault and my clumsy nature and the fact that my focus was on the bag in my hand trying to dig out my Cream Cheese & Jalapeño Bollio, so we can eat in the car! The chicharrones carnudos were disappointing I'd rate them 2.5 stars they were tough and had a lot of fat I I had to take a bite wisely to avoid my teeth from breaking. While I was there I seen a lot of families buying a ton of pan dulce and tortillas. I decided to grab a pack of flour tortillas to eat with my chicharrones to make tacos/burritos and tell you what the tortillas taste and feel home made. Carnitas has a great variety of foods. The meat counter has lots of good items. The chicken I bought was especially good. There are many other options I haven't tried yet. We decided to come in today to buy some Mexican sweet bread. There was enough parking in the lot which made it easy to get inside the location. The building looks new. We saw the fresh bread, salsas, and fresh corn and tortillas coming off conveyor belt on our right. Cash registers on the left and butcher straight ahead (back wall). Prices for bread are on a small typed sign where you pick up a tray and tongs. A decent amount of choices to choose from like conchas, bolillo, empanadas, turnovers, cookies, biscuits, etc. We limited ourselves to about seven pieces of sweet/savory bread, a pack of flour tortillas, a pack of three dozen corn tortillas, and a pound of carnitas/tripas. The customer ahead of us took the last of the refried beans so we were unable to try them on this visit. It was around 3p so they run out early! We paid about $31. Overall, we will return for the bolillo filled with cream cheese, ham, and jalapeño, sweet bread, and carnitas. I have my eye on the habanero slices with onion that are pickles in lime juice for next time. read more

Had never been to Lamont before ever so this enticed us as our first stop on our drive when I saw that they made tortillas here. I had been feeling under the weather and had not eaten much in 3 days but the craving for the almighty tortilla was there. It is always there! It was a Sat and the store was packed but we were able to wander around and see the beautiful pastries and buns (hugely popular), the meat counter, deli, tortilla maker, grocery area, spices and a small produce area. We purchased a bunch of things that came to $20. Crazy. That included a whole chicken. Not as well seasoned as I would have liked but that is my taste. I do not eat the chicken skin anyways. The tortillas they make by the dozen and wow, they are hot, bagged before you by 2 hardworking people and ready to go. Was really happy for these. Everyone was really helpful and friendly throughout the store. Even the cashier was sweatin' it and kept a-hopping as his line would not quit. It went quick though and he spoke perfect English and Spanish. I noted that the store is really not designed for the lines at the cash and deli counter but it speaks to the popularity and quality of this place. If you love Mexican goodies, this is your place and it is so much more than a meat store. Stand out buys for this visit were the tortillas (corn), chicharrones and fresh white cheese strips from the meat counter. Will be back! read more

Today I was in there, normally this is my to go store for carnitas and bread rolls. Well today was not the day to shop for bread rolls. Asked too see if they had any more bread rolls was going to buy 24 in total there were a few on the rack. This lady who I wont say her name but was wearing pink came over and said you need to finish what on the rack before we pull iut more. She approached me with sassy attitude and said let me change my gloves to hand them to you before I can pull out more, then I can see what I have in the back. The rolls did not look fresh yet I took what was there, was on my lunch break and was a little of a hurry. After taking 8 rolls only from the possibility of taking 24. I walk up to the register to pay for the food and rolls that I was taking. She then walks out from the back and places a new batch look's at me and did a smirky smile, like saying see now I can place a new batch and your missing out from fresh rolls because I felt like it. No where in the store does it say you need to finish all bread before fresh one can be placed out. In the end, I could have left the old stale rolls yet she was not worth my time and her customer service was not what you can say great in any way at all. I can truly say that I was really disappointed with the service, like all of us we would like to pay for what we eat and buy and freshness is what we all look for not cold stale rolls of bread. read more

I love this place and my family has been a customer since the 90's and till this day we love the carnitas. We drive from Bakersfield just to get the carnitas.But today especially 30 minutes ago when i went with my mom we got the rudest service i had ever experienced there. The girl handing the carnitas dropped them on the counter and tried to give us the same carnitas and we said no, she then proceeded to throw them back into the case. She was rude and said the counter was clean and we said well theres covid right now so we wanted new meat..she continued to help us with the worst attitude. There was ppl behind us in line just staring. I asked one of the other workers if the owner was there he was also rude and said "no" walked away. Once we were checking out the cashier was also rude. We entered the card chip and the reader didnt read it. So then she just said give me the card and scanned it on her end. And said "just sign" and gave us the receipt... idk if thats how they talk to other customers but i was not ok with it. The employees need to do better because they represent the owners. My family and I love this place for all of our traditional Mexican palate. The carnitas and chicharron are the best and very tasty not to mention the homemade flour/corn tortillas plus the salsa! Today was the worst experience ever! I come all the way from Bakersfield to buy bread and meat but today my husband and I wanted to order carnitas from there. We where the only ones in line and the man just ignored us after he said hold on to us he went to talk to a girl that was collecting tortillas. After he was done gossiping he walk by us and just left to his office. We waited for someone to help us but no one came. We asked another man that was there fixing the cabinets if he can help us. He said yes but we notice he did not wash his hands or put on gloves and he started to touch the carnitas with his dirty hands. I usually don't write a review but I think it's needed so the store can have a practice of proper hygiene. Last week I Decided to come here with a friend of mine to get some fresh bread from the bakery but also wanted to try their chicarron. So I waited in line to be helped to get my chicarron. The lady serving the hot foods had a really bad customer service seemed as if she was mad and hated her job my friend says she's always like that her attitude never changes ... I thought bad service plus horrible with food handling when I asked for my chicharron she touched the chicharrón with her bare hands no glove no nothing !!! So I took carnitas instead to have dinner ready for my husband. I let one of cashiers know about the situation she was very kind and apologized for the sitautaion she then walked over to let the lady know hopefully next time she has a better service and better practice of proper hygiene with food.
