Enchilada Plate
Eric E.

Los Reyes is a decent market with a fantastic Panadería and an even better restaurant. They pass the test of a try authentic Mexican restaurant. No yellow cheese. We went in the other day for lunch because we were driving around Bakersfield bored looking for early lunch or late breakfast. The Enchilada plate had two giant enchiladas with super juicy shredded chicken inside and their rich and slightly spicy enchilada sauce outside. My wife's plate of Costillas (ribs) melted off the bone and were in a beautiful Chile Colorado sauce. Order a Taco de Tripas and tell them you want it "bien doradito". Crispy and clean tripe. That's what you get. Value is really good if you're willing to go out of your way a bit.

5 tacos. 2 tacos in and my salsa is already gone. I have to ration it to the point where I don't enjoy my meal

The food is okay but they only will give 1 salsa for every 6 tacos .... Even if you order a burrito it's only 1 SMALL salsa... this place is becoming very stingy unfortunately.

Four different tacos

Service was a little slow and variety of food. Good portions daily deals will go back. Carnitas and chili Verde was my favorite.

The receipt for what I paid for Coffee-mate creamer 32 oz bottle and two Pedigree dog food cans. Grotesquely overpriced.

$5 for a bottle of coffee creamer? $3 for a can of dog food? I don't know how they stay in business. Price tag don't lie.

They have an amazing menudo on Saturday and Sunday, $9.99 for 32 oz oh my, better than homemade. The carnitas are so delicious as well, the rice tray is worth it, for the price and flavor, please stop by and try.

Love to buy meat from Los Reyes Market for BBQs. They provide a good service. I recommend to buy their meat.

This was the first time visiting the physical location here at Martin's meats. We have eaten the…read moreBBQ on several different occasions because when my youngest was in Jr High at Tevis the school would have Martin's Meats cater for the band fundraisers and we would always love the food and we have grabbed food when they are at the Farmer's Market. We always talked about visiting, but every time we are downtime we don't ever think of this place. We ended up here because our original choice for lunch was super busy and there was no parking so we drove around and I said.... Hey let's go to Martin's meats, we haven't had their food in a minute. When we got there, it wasn't busy at all. The people there was super duper nice. I actually enjoyed our interaction, I could be wrong but I think the one that took our orders was Martin himself. He was very pleasant, I didn't know what to get, he didn't pressure us or anything and allowed us to take our time. I want to say that the sweet lady in the back was his wife and she was helping with the orders too. While we waited for our food I did notice that they were giving out food to homeless people asking for food. In a time where people are struggling and the economy is the way it is, I really loved seeing this. When you walk in, it's not just a BBQ spot, it's also a cute little grocery store/meat market with fresh produce. There's not a lot of tables to sit at, but they don't have too many people dining in so you wont have a hard time finding a place to sit. The prices are decent and they have something for everyone. I would love to come back again, even though it's a little drive away. Parking is not too bad either since it's not that busy, but if you don't want to head downtown, I believe they still go out to the Farmer's Market every weekend, but I absolutely recommend Martin's meats, the BBQ is delicious. :-)

It always turns out so delicious on the grill that I find myself wishing I could pack some up and bring it all the way back to Los Angeles with me! My dad absolutely loves grilling whenever we come to visit, and without fail, this is the only market we buy our carne asada from. It's become a family tradition at this point, and every cookout is something we all look forward to. Beyond the amazing meat selection, the market itself is clean, organized, and easy to shop. Everything is neatly stocked, making it simple to find what you need without feeling overwhelmed. The employees are always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help, which makes the experience even better. Whether you're stopping by for their famous carne asada or just picking up groceries, this is a neighborhood market that's definitely worth visiting. It's easy to see why my family has remained loyal customers, and I'll always look forward to coming back every time I'm in Bakersfield.

I can't really comment on any of their other products but I give them five stars for the sausage alone, it's just that good. The rest of the meat case all looks great too. They have a wide variety of sausage all made in house including Original Basque, Kickin' Chicken, Sweet Italian, German, and more. I don't know where he got his information, but my cousin told me that their German sausage uses my Grandfather's recipe, and it's a fave of mine. Also the guy's working there have always been friendly and very helpful. Their sausage is so good, just writing this makes me hungry. Give it a try, I seriously doubt you'll be disappointed!

Because she comes here all the time, and because the owner already knows her order, we are usually in and out in under two minutes. Meaning, I never get enough time to explore. Walking in to the shop, the very first thing one notices is how clean it is, which is obviously a great start. Next, my eyes are drawn to a long line of brightly colored salsas, which look mouth-watering. Moving towards the meat, which is in the back of the store, one passes through small but skillfully sourced aisles of produce and Mexican staples such as mole, various forms of tortillas, Mexican hot chocolate, a deep freezer full of La Michoacana paletas, and so much more. (I am proud of the fact that, during my most recent trip to Bakersfield, I got my cousin's kids hooked on La Michoacana mangonada flavored bars. They're an excellent fat-free alternative to ice cream.) In the front of the store are three fridges full of beverages, including bottled Mexican soft drinks produced with cane sugar. Along with everything I've already mentioned, the meat is fire. It's always perfectly seasoned and/or marinated, and comes out delicious no matter which one of us cooks it. All of our experiences with this shop have been positive, and I definitely recommend giving them a try if you're in town.

Then, while I was just talking to my mom, he looked at me and mocked me saying "Ay la Cara de La Niña," like I was scared of the prices, totally uncalled for. Their card machine kept failing too, with constant connection errors. The whole vibe was rude and uncomfortable. Never coming back.
