It has taken me some time to write this review. My experience happened some months ago and I thought maybe I had a one off experience, but the more I have been active in gardening groups around town the more I have learned of the shady practices of this company. In May (during Covid lockdown) I reached out to the nursery inquiring about purchasing some trees. In hindsight I should have not continued my purchase when I had to follow up 3 times just to get someone to call me back. I realize it was during Covid, but I was assured they had a full team working and I just slipped through the cracks. I also was ensured it wasn't too late in the season to plant trees. that they would be fine even with summer barreling towards us. I went ahead and purchased 3 trees over the phone. I was assured I would receive photos of the trees they picked for me and could change them out if I wanted. I never got the photos and no one ever returned my calls or emails. They sure got my money fast though. They showed up one day to plant (again without calling to confirm) and the first tree was in the ground before I answered the door. If that wasn't the case I would have refused the tree. It was a joke of a tree - in fact we became the laughing stock of the community for some time. I will post a photo of the goal post tree! The crew then planted the 2 other trees very quickly. They didn't water them like I was told they would and I wasn't given any instructions on how to care for them. I was told I should have received that already. I reached out and finally got someone to respond and I received a generic "how to" piece of paper when I had originally purchased I was told I would receive care on each specific tree. Well 2 of the 3 trees survived - Yes, I know we had a rough summer, but I have since been told we never should have planted as late as we did. That Moon Valley works on commissions and they go through sales people like no business. They will tell you what you want to hear in order to make the sale. The stories I have heard from other people are atrocious - I won't put them here as they aren't my stories to tell and I can't confirm them. Oh and yes, I know I could have purchased the warranty, but why the need to do that if the trees were healthy to begin with and planted correctly? There shouldn't need to be a warranty purchased. I learned my pricey lesson and won't be purchasing trees again from Moon Valley. read more

My tree expert was George A. Great recommendations for front yard. The large Ficus and Hopseed bush and multi color Lantanna looks amazing. George will Also be providing tree care. He is prompt with answering all questions and has great communication skills. The supervisor, Arthur L. and crew did a great job with planting too! Highly recommend MoonValley for landscape needs. Can't go wrong with choosing multi-trunk large Ficus, great curb appeal, to read more

As new residents of a desert environment, I am very unfamiliar with desert landscaping & the care of desert plants. I was extremely pleased with the service & advice I received from Nursery & Design Specialist Richard Moore when I went to Moon Valley. Each of the 3 times I went to Moon Valley to add to or change my plant selections, Richard was very informative and patient with me. The day before the scheduled plant installation, Kaelen contacted me both by phone message and by email to confirm the timeframe that the installer team would be at my home. On the day of installation, Matt, the foreman, texted me to let me know they were on their way. The 5-man planting team that came was very organized. They clearly were very experienced landscape installers. Matt instructed me in the watering and care of our new plants. He answered several general questions that I had about caring for desert landscape. I highly recommend Moon Valley for your landscape needs. read more

Went to them and bought 3 ficus trees and, later, a Christmas tree. All were incredibly expensive, but considering the perceived quality, I thought worth it. Fast forward a couple years. Two trees are doing great. The largest of the three, in our front yard, was leaning at about a 30 degree angle. Called Moon Valley and they said send a photo. Did that. Got a call that straightening the tree would be $950 AND told I had to pay the full amount in advance. No way that's happening. Was told the man on the phone would ask "the boss" about the pay in advance thing and call me back. You guessed it. Never called back. I wouldn't do business with these (in my opinion) crooks if they were the only nursery in town. read more

Kelly was super helpful. She went out of her way to find a house warming gift for us. Thanks!!

Brandon Vasquez-Jimenez and Chris Eastwood did a great job selecting and installing trees for me. highly recommend

We visited Moon Nursery about a month ago while landscaping our backyard, we were talked into a home consultation that comes with a few of $200.00. The consultant arrived and walked around the yard with us and threw out several different plant names for different areas of the yard and scribbled some notes in a pad. After not hearing from him in the timeframe that he promised to have a plan laid out, we called to find out when we could come look at the designs / computer mock up, but to our surprise all we got was a copy of the notes he took during the walk through our backyard. That's when they disclosed that your $200.00 was not refundable, and you needed to spend a minimum of $3000 to recoup your consultation fee. We chose our own plants and found a more honest company to do business with. read more

I was super lucky when I went to Moon Nursery on Tatum and Bell Road. I was greeted by Patrick McCoy. He is a great great guy!!! Besides being really nice, he's also very knowledgeable when it comes to plants and trees. We bought 8 trees from him and we are very pleased! So if you want to have fun picking out your plants and trees ask for Patrick!!! I would 10/10 recommend to anyone!!! read more

Up until today, I would have given 5 stars. Today, I'm frustrated. We had 2 trees planted in February. Planting crew did a great job. Both trees have the year warranty and I bought the maintenance agreement so I could get help if needed. The "giant" ficus was staked; the "huge" peach tree was not. When I asked about staking it, I was told it wasn't necessary but if it needed it at any time, I could get it done. Well, 2 months have gone by. The tree is beautiful and full of fruit. And it's no longer standing up straight; it's leaning - a lot. So I called- sure they can stake it, in 4 weeks! after all - "they really busy" and it can always be replaced... read more

We bought 3 young citrus trees from here and while our check out process was quick and easy and well explained to us, come to delivery day and we find out that our order was never placed for delivery so the delivery team never knew. That was frustrating but they were very helpful to get a delivery rescheduled and squeezed us in the next week. On the bright side they did give us a few boxes of moon juice on the house after that hurdle. Come planting day, the team was quick, efficient, and communicative. Downside here was I discussed staking with the head delivery man and he said it's not necessary for trees so young but they can be staked for a fee. At the time I didn't think it necessary but heavy winds came days later and lo and behold I thought one of our trees would fly away. HOWEVER, Savannah Palmer at the Arcadia Moon Valley Nursery went above and beyond and reached out to us every step of the way and checked in afterwards with us and even assigned a team to stake our trees as we found out we paid for originally. All in all, for every hurdle we've ran into, Moon Valley Nursery and Savannah have provided a solution we could be satisfied with and plan to be repeat customers. read more

We love Moon Valley Nurseries. They have excellent selection and knowledgeable staff. Always polite and helpful! 10/10!

We live about 10-12 miles NorthEast of the Tatum Store. We decided to visit a few months back, and sadly came away empty handed...pretty sure we would not be returning or recommending Moon Valley to any of our friends. We were treated poorly to say the least, and with considerable condescension by a lead person on duty. That might have been the end of any business relationship between the Parsons and Moon Valley. But oddly enough, we ran into Tony Giancalone and he persuaded us to try a return visit. He was very knowledgable, and helped us select a lovely Yucca Rostrata (Huge). We were excited for Tony's expert help, and so look forward to enjoying this addition to our property. Had it not been for Tony's encouragement, we would NOT have returned to Moon Valley to make this lovely investment purchase. read more

Made a stressful situation very smooth. Wasn't even sure where exactly the palm trees would go and was very worried. Don was the site manager he helped me on site with the final design ideas. Him and his crew did a fantastic job got the plants and trees in tight places, were conscientious of the underground plumbing. We're super quick and cleaned up after wards. I'm thrilled with the results. I couldn't be happier. read more

Andy Klein is a gem of a person. He was so thorough in helping us and giving us pertinent information on how to care for our elderly trees around our property. He took the time to explain things to me how ever many times I needed and was so patient with my questions. We will never go anywhere else for our nursery needs, he's gained a loyal customer for many years to come. read more

Stay away from Moon Valley's trees! I've purchased several trees from Moon Valley and other nurseries and consistently Moon Valley's trees are the only ones to have major issues. Moon Valley's employees act friendly and come off as potentially knowledgeable but as soon as they arrive on-site with the delivery, any kind of trust goes out the window. They might have seemed knowledgeable but if you ask any arborist or learn more than the most basic of knowledge regarding trees, their practices will cause you to waste your time and money. All of the trees they planted had issues regarding root flare height, girdled roots, or other critical problems that won't be evident until a year or two after planting. To no surprise, their warranties end around this time. Moon Valley's prices are often just slightly below other competitor's prices but never go with the lowest bid; purchasing from Moon Valley will result in wasted time, sweat, and money regardless of any marginal price tag savings. read more

We wanted good size shade trees & Ryan Roberts helped us find 2 great red Pistache trees to shade our backyard. They delivered them & carefully navigated our rather narrow steppingstones to put them in place without damaging a thing. They were generous with guidance & instructions on watering & giving the trees the proper care to get a good start. We would definitely use Moon Valley Nursery again. read more

I bought two palm trees from Mason at Moon Valley. I went back three times to make sure I loved my choice. Mason was super kind and patient and even came out to my home to make sure I had chosen correctly for my spots. He was amazing to work with. When Roger and his crew showed up, they worked like a fine oiled machine. When they started digging the holes, they ran into pipe. They had extra pipe and fittings along and set to work re-routing the pipe. These six gentlemen work in unison digging, measuring, fitting pipe, hauling out dirt and planting the trees. Then came the fertilizer and backfilling. When they left, the trees were planted, fed, watered, and the surrounding area was immaculate. I cannot express how impressed I am with this whole experience. From Mason in sales to Roger and crew, I am overjoyed with this whole experience. Awesome job guys!!! read more

Great place if you are looking for a high pressure sales environment. These guys are the rudest, sleazy car salesmen I've ever come across. As soon as I said I wanted to think about it the salesman treated me like shit and made it super awkward (1st salesman didn't even return my call). Def not EVER giving them a $1 of business- I will not be pressured and rewarding that terrible behavior. And they are also a rip off! Went across the street to summer winds - totally different & way more friendly/positive vibe. read more

Please know that Kimberly is an asset to your company. Upon shopping for red geraniums today and noticing how busy the staff was; I asked her a brief question trying not to interupt her customer service with someone else. Kimberly was quick and professional to answer and not miss a beat with service to her existing customer. After loading up my rolling cart I waited for an available staff member and once again came across Kimberly who helped me check out after the customer before me. She then helped me to the potting soil bags and then to my vehicle. I was aware of the busy day and all staff working with eager spring customers - we chatted about the affordable prices of the Moom Valley products. Thanks to Kimberly I will be a retuning to this location. A great representative for Moon Valley Nurseries at Union Hills and Tatum location :) Nancy -Cave Creek - a repeat customer! read more

I went to Moon Valley for the large selection of trees. Prices were reasonable and Chelsea was very helpful with my selection. She explained procedures and prep of my lawn. Delivery was scheduled and on the day George and his crew showed up on time and ready to plant my new trees. Trees look great and immediately changed the look of my front yard to add curb appeal. Thank you to all, worth the investment and I shall return read more

I love this place! I shop here year-round. They are extremely helpful and go out of their way to answer questions and explain which plants will (and won't!) work in your yard and why. We as a family went to Moon Valley and were looking to buy some plants & trees but were not 100% sure, we walked into Moon Valley & were looking around for few minutes & we saw Clay Simms walking towards us, greeting us & took us around and asked what we want & ensured that we get the best one. He also showed us some beautiful pots and offered to decorate it with flowers & send it to us. I wanted to echo Kimmy Hughey who did decorate both the pots and it was extremely beautiful & hats off to her creativity. I usually do not write any reviews but this time overall I had a fantastic experience at Moon Valley Nursery & will continue working with Clay for all my future needs. He also ensured that it is brought all the way to my car & loaded it with utmost care. Both Clay Simms & Kimmy Hughey are great assets for Moon Valley Nursery. read more

Just a word to review the MVP tree care program. When they say they will replace the tree for any reason if you are dissatisfied they mean it. We had four fruit trees planted, and didn't like the fruit from two of them. They were replaced with different varieties without any fuss or muss. They always do a great job planting, and the follow up visits are always informative. Sheldon does a great job evaluating each tree's health, fertilizing and trimming them, and I always learn more about taking care of my trees properly. read more

Last weekend ( Dec 3 and 4 ) was time to go and get the Family 2023 Xmas Tree. We loaded up 3 vehicles ( grandkids like to come as well ) and off we went. We first went to a lot whose name I won't say but had some wonderful trees with prices costing about the same as our house monthly mortgage payment. After I recovered from the sticker shock we headed out to Moon Valley Nurseries. This was a good move. Skky greeted us as we unloaded the kids. He took the time to listen to what we were there for and then pointed us in the right direction, told us what colour ribbon tags were the size we wanted and to find him if we had any more questions or when we were ready to make a purchase. We browsed around until we found The Tree that everyone agreed upon and then I went and found Skky to assist with the purchase. He showed me where to pay and took The Tree to fresh cut the base and trim the lower branches so it would fit our stand with no issues. The price being charged was very fair and about what I had expected. He then carried it out to my truck and loaded it in the back so we were all set to head home. He made the whole experience enjoyable, was knowledgeable about his trees, smiled and appeared to be enjoying himself while he was at work. He was a pleasure to work with and we all enjoyed our visit and will be back next year!! I also have a good idea now where to go for the Apple Tree my wife would like to plant in front of our house. read more

This place was awesome! Andy greeted us and taught us all about the types, sizes and prices available. They have a huge selection of very fresh trees from Washington, Oregon and Canada. Because of gas prices shipping from North Carolina was not feasible this year. It didn't matter to us. We found the perfect tree and Andy talked with manager Garrett and gave us a great deal too! You can smell the wonderful trees as soon as you get out of the car and they fresh cut them and load them on for you. This is our second year going to Moon Valley and we will keep coming back! Customer service..Beware. I've purchased many trees from Moon Valley over the years. Times have changed clearly and my experience over time has soured me on Moon Valley. They are eager to sell but then the experience breaks down. My experience, most recently, was in purchasing over $6500 worth of shrubs and a tree. I guess that's a small order not worthy of returning calls, texts, or emails. Poor communication with 811, all voice mail inboxes at Moon Valley full, and they just didn't show with no notice for our scheduled planting. I took time to be there from my schedule, but they didn't show to plant or provide notice. Currently trying after over 5 phone calls, 2 emails, and a text to get reimbursed for the labor on what wasn't planted. Consider my experience in making your own decisions. read more

I've been getting our Christmas trees at this location for years. We got a late start getting it this year due to adopting 2 rescue dogs. Went in looking for a smaller one to put on a table and away from the pups. Ben was really nice and mentioned the smallest available would be 5 ft. I looked around and I must tell you the trees on the lot were really beautiful! Super fresh, each tree in water and perfectly shaped. The guys working there were so nice. Ben and Marquez found me a beautiful tree and cut it to make it a 4 ft. tabletop tree for me I couldn't have been more thrilled. Thank you Ben and Marquez....it's absolutely perfect. read more

Moon Valley had planted a $1,000.00+ oak tree in my yard. Two years later, the tree died. When I'd dug up the tree to replace, I'd noticed that the box wood container was left on the rootball. Three experts have told me that leaving the container on the rootball would strangle the tree's root system. MV said that it was good to leave the wood container on the rootball. I'd received a 60% off coupon from Moon Valley. So, I'd picked an oak tree to replace my dead oak tree with the wood container that was left on. The tree that I'd selected had a price tag that read "was 799, now 399." The manager lady who helped me select the new oak tree handed me off to another salesman at the front desk (like a used car lot). He told me that I'd get 60% off of the $799, not $399. But, the tree's "now" price is $399 and I should receive 60% off on the $399 now price. I'd gotten out of there as fast as I could, never, ever to return. I then went to Home Depot and bought a nicer oak tree for $79. MV is so bad. read more

The customer service here is horrible. They bring the wrong trees. They never call you about them. They ripped out my plants. They never replace them. They broke my sprinkler system. They never paid to have it fixed. Horrible. Don't recommend at all. read more

We had them put in three tipu trees a couple years ago. Got one left. The big one in the front blew over for the third time last night. It has virtually no roots after two years. Last time they were out to stand it back up and re-stake it, we paid them $500 to inject food into the soil. It's been pruned to shorten it and open it up to be less of a sail but with the tiny round root ball there is nothing to hold it in the soil. I give up. Last time it took 5 days and as many messages left for them before they even called me back. They are always nice when they come out, but this tree should have had its roots trimmed or something before it was planted. We're going to cut it up and replace it with a different tree. But not from Moon Valley. read more
