We have only hired someone to prune our trees once and it was not a good experience (it was Moon Valley Nursery and arborists don't think highly of them). After the bad experience (and losing our 12 year old plum), I decided when we needed service again I'd get recommendations from a local arborist group on Facebook, and SavATree was recommended as well as a few others. I reached out to three and SavATree was the only one to respond. They're very prompt with responses. Julie in the office was very helpful, and the arborist Roy was extremely knowledgeable and happy to educate us on what our Arizona Ash Tree needs, and what was the likely cause of the die off we were seeing (suspected herbicide poisoning). The cost was higher than anticipated (close to double what Moon Valley charged) but we trusted Roy. He put together a treatment plan which included pruning, soil remediation and fertilizer. Two guys came out to do the actual pruning and they were great. Very nice and thorough. They thoughtfully removed competing branches for the health of the tree. They spent much longer and took off much more than Moon Valley did. Being December, its leaves were dropping quite a bit, and even shook out while they were in it cutting. They were so sweet to blow and haul away the leaves. That was unexpected and very much appreciated. They said since we gave them water they were happy to do it. (A good reminder that it pays to be kind to one another.) We had them remove the stump from our dead purple plum as well and they were careful to remove the river rock from the tree well first so they wouldn't get buried in the hole. The team that does the fertilizer treatments is very nice and knowledgeable as well. Our only criticism is that the fertilizer scheduling system doesn't let you choose a timeframe. That probably works for businesses and homes where the trees are in the front yard, and for some people if they don't have a dog in the back yard or need to allow access through the house as we do, but for us, a specific time (or window) is needed in order to let them into the yard. We don't plan to do the fertilizer indefinitely so we'll deal with it for a few months but it would be nice if their system was more accommodating. We'll definitely keep going to them for all of our tree pruning needs and recommending them to others. I can't wait to see our ash when the leaves come back. I have only had one encounter with Savatree, and it was so negative that I never found out if they are skilled at their work. Their staff is rude, selfish, reckless, and self-centered. From this first interaction, it was evident that I would never engage in business with them. Regardless of their expertise, I refuse to interact with individuals who believe they are superior and that I should feel fortunate to be in their presence. Customer service is not even a consideration here. It was so bad I would not have let them pay me to do the work. YOU are expected to cater to them. I don't think so. read more

I have 6 palms that were on the verge of death after last summer. They were 15 years old, brown and very little signs of life. I had 6 quotes and 4 of them told me they were goners and that I needed to rip them all out. One company wanted over 5,000.00 to try and save them. I had the most thorough evaluation by SavATree's Arborist who recommended a treatment plan under a 1,000. These TRESS ARE THRIVING! They are coming back and becoming so lush and green. Honestly, hands down recommend this company for fair pricing, quality service and an excellent evaluation of the problems with an aligned treatment plan that worked. 10/10 in my book! read more

The Arborist, Scott, had great information to help make the decision, everyone on the job site at our home was extremely careful, knowledgeable, courteous, efficient and hard working, plus very supportive (sad to say goodbye to trees we'd planted 30 years ago) It was amazing to see Dave carried by crane up and over our 2 story home and gently deposited in the top of a 65' tree. read more

Nice people, experts in tree health, but not good at pruning. just because they know about trees does not make them good at natural looking pruning. laborers were sent out to prune without supervision, and no expert ever came out to even inspect their work or do a walk around. I would recommend for tree advice, but could never recommend for pruning if you want your trees to look nice or natural, or expect the expert to come out and inspect their work before they leave. The quality of the work is substandard and lowest of any pruners I have hired in 30 years. Of course I come from an area with a lot more trees and maybe the standards must be higher than in Phoenix, but I am used to good work. Prune and go is what I got, and now I need to hire someone else to finish and repair the look. I've not hired many contractors who don't bother to send their experienced supervisor out to monitor or walk around the job to make sure it was done properly or I was satisfied. Simply poor customer care or follow up, until I complained. read more

I am on the Board of an HOA, and although we have weekly service from a landscaping service, we chose to utilize Sav-a-tree because of their knowledge of trees, the service they provide and the value to our group. Monsoon season normally creates the loss of trees but utilizing Sav-a-tree and Scott Calabrese we've been able to save our trees! We do recommend this company for your home or your HOA. read more

We were concerned about one tree and had another in need of pruning. The arborist, Scott, assessed the trees and recommended fertilizer and increased water for the tree of concern, and not to attempt pruning a stressed tree. The crew doing the pruning (David was the lead) were absolutely professional. David texted on their way to let us get our dog out of the way without hurrying. I had arborist Scott Calabrese come take a look at two of my trees that had become very stressed from last summer's extreme heat. Although we tried to save them, they were too far gone to be saved. Scott was very helpful in assessing when it was time to bring them down and recommending a type of tree that would be more hardy in our extreme heat. Scott was very nice to work with and very responsive to my many questions. I will definitely be using Scott and SavATree again. read more
