A crane was involved so they needed to confirm availabiity prior to scheduling the removal date (within two weeks of the initial call). The day before our scheduled removal I got a text confirming that they'd be here in the morning. At 7am a crane, chipper and a multitude of other specialized equipment and people showed up. In less than 90 minutes, the tree was gone with absolutely no damage to yard and plants growing near the tree. The entire neighborhood turned out to watch as it was something to see. One of the workers smiled and commented about the crowd that had gathered. He recognized that it was fun for us since it was unusual but it was what he did every day. Before the work began,…read moreI explained that my landscaping company wanted the entire tree, including the stump, removed. Harris & Sons told me the stump did not need to be removed and assured me that poisoning it would kill both the stump and the roots. Trusting their professional expertise, I followed their recommendation. When my landscaping project began, my landscapers immediately told me they could not properly install artificial turf over the stump because as it rotted, the ground would settle and create uneven spots in the new lawn. They also discovered the stump was still alive and that roots had already begun spreading into another area of my yard. I called Harris & Sons, and they returned on June 27 to retreat the stump and roots. They told me to wait one week before continuing with landscaping. When my landscapers resumed work on July 3rd they determined the stump still had to be removed before they could complete the project correctly. I had no choice but to pay an additional $675 to have the stump removed so the project could move forward. When I contacted Harris & Sons about reimbursing me for the additional expense, they refused. Instead of acknowledging my concerns or trying to find a reasonable solution, they sent me a Google article claiming stump removal is not always necessary. That completely missed the point. From the very beginning, I told them my landscaping company wanted the stump removed. They advised me otherwise, and I trusted their professional recommendation. In the end, the stump still had to be removed, and I was left paying two companies for the same job. As a widow and single mom, I rely on professionals to give honest, informed advice. I trusted their recommendation, and it ended up costing me more money. What disappointed me most was not just the extra expense but the complete lack of accountability. Rather than listening to a legitimate customer concern and trying to make things right, they dismissed my experience and refused to take any responsibility. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Harris & Sons. If a customer clearly tells them what is needed, I would expect them to either perform the requested work or clearly explain why they will not, rather than assuring the customer it is unnecessary only to have them pay someone else to do it later.

My turf was installed at the end of February 2026, and what should have been an exciting backyard…read moreimprovement has turned into an ongoing headache. Within a short time, I began experiencing problems with the turf lifting at the seams and edges and nails repeatedly popping completely out of the ground. There have been numerous attempts to address these issues. Initially, the solution was repeatedly to add more nails, sometimes in areas that already had nails. Eventually, another crew came out, pulled sections of the turf back, reworked the material underneath, and re-nailed it. Unfortunately, the same problems continued. During all of the frustrating conversations and attempts to get the problems resolved, I also discovered that Chips Tree & Landscape subcontracted the actual installation to another company. I was not aware when I hired Chips that a separate company would be performing the installation. Because I became concerned about the quality and specifications of the turf that was installed, I requested the exact product specifications for the turf listed on my contract. The documentation I received was a brochure from the subcontractor, but I noticed something very concerning: the name of the turf listed on my contract does not appear to be a product offered by that subcontractor. I searched the subcontractor's website and could not find that turf product listed anywhere. I don't know whether the product was discontinued, an older product, or something that was being sold as leftover inventory, but I believe this is a reasonable question that should have a clear answer. I cannot state that the wrong turf was installed because I don't have the documentation to prove that. However, the turf appears to be a lower-quality product than what I believed I was purchasing, and the repeated problems have certainly made me question both the product and the installation. The recent rain has made the situation even worse. The material underneath the turf is now extremely wet, loose and movable, almost like wet beach sand, and the nails continue to work their way out. I have documented nails approximately 3 inches long that have come completely out of the ground. More recently, a crew member showed me a nail that appeared to be approximately 4 1/2 inches long. That longer nail was not actually installed; it was left behind with only the tip positioned in the turf after the worker became frustrated and left to make a phone call. I have photographs documenting these issues. What is especially frustrating is that this turf is only a few months old and has already required multiple visits and repeated attempts to correct the same problems, yet the turf continues to lift and the nails continue to come out. I regret removing my natural grass and having artificial turf for this project. If you are considering Chips Tree & Landscape, I strongly recommend doing your own due diligence, getting the exact turf manufacturer/product specifications and installation requirements in writing, asking whether the work will be subcontracted, and keeping documentation of everything. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company for artificial turf installation.
