They removed a large dead pine tree next door directly overhanging my roof and back yard and they left the entire mess behind!! My roof was covered in debris and I had to raise heck to get them to clean up the mess! Unbelievable, what reputable company leaves a huge mess in someone else's yard!! Tried to call and complain and the girl who answered the phone disregarded me like it was no big deal! Hayward Tree service did an excellent job. The big silver oak tree in our back yard was very tall and had dead branches at the top that needed to come down before monsoon season. There are power lines in the alley that made it inaccessible and the front yard was pretty deep for a crane to get close. They managed to trim the tree branches. Very large and thick heavy limbs were taken off. Our tree was on the property line with a clock wall and no damage was done at all. My neighbor is also happy with the job. I had called 4 companies for quotes...two others looked at the job and did not want it...one never got back to me. Hayward gave me the confidence to go with them. We recently worked with Hayward to remove a 50 foot tall eucalyptus tree from our backyard, and they were great! The team member that did the estimate was on time and friendly, the schedulers were easy to work with (rain delayed our removal a few times, but they were in consistent contact with us to find new dates/times), and the removal crew was careful and meticulous. We had a small issue with the giant crane compacting some of our driveway pavers (again, due to the recent rain), but Hayward had someone come out and fix the issue right away. Hayward removed an large ash tree in my front yard which was wedged near the corner of a block wall. They arrived on time & removed the tree that partially hung over my roof without any contact with the roof, which was a big concern for me. Using a crane, the tree removal is done swiftly & efficiently, fed to the chipper & hauled off. They cleaned the entire area afterwards. all debris on my private street, gone. This was the 2nd time I have used Hayward Tree Service to remove 2 extremely large trees in our yard. 45 year old trees. Both times we were extremely satisfied with the work they preformed. I can't vouch for being on time the 1st time around because the work was done while I was at work but the 2nd time the crew showed up on time, they respected my property and the best part they all spoke English so there wasn't any miscommunication. They cleaned everything up if it wouldn't have been for the small pile of sawdust where the stump used to be you never even would have known a tree had ever been there. I highly recommend Hayward. These guys are terrific! I needed to have three forty foot+ fan palm trees removed from my front courtyard. The space is narrow and difficult to access, but Hayward Tree Service made it look easy. They brought their large crane truck, a wood chipper, and six hardworking men who obviously knew what they were doing. They attached each tree to the end of the crane, cut through the trunk, lifted it up and put each one onto the street. Then they put the trees through their wood chipper and, Presto!, no more trees. Hayward showed up on time, took down all three trees, cleaned everything up very well, and were done in less than two hours. And their fee was by far the best estimate of the four that I got. Wow! I was so impressed with the surgical precision that Hayward removed this 50 foot Sissoo tree from my backyard. Three or four cuts removed by a crane to a crew that cut it into smaller pieces for the chipper. Larger trunk pieces into a waiting trunk and then they stumped it down the ground. I had the owner come out to my home last night at 6:30 to give me a quote on removing 6 trees at my home. Not only was his price competitive compared to other quotes, but very friendly and professional. When I arrived this afternoon at 3:30, all 6 trees were gone and if you didn't know it, you could not tell I had any trees. There was very little evidence of any trees in my yard. We had Hayward come out to give us a quote to remove 3 trees and possibly trim up our huge mulberry tree. A certified arborist came out and looked and he told us that the mulberry is rotting and explained it to me. The trunk had split into 4 and would fall once it leafed out. The trunk had a hollow sound as well so we added that to the list. We were happy with the price. All said and done we ended up getting rid of 4 trees (2 dead, 2 in bad areas) their stumps and 3 additional stumps that the previous owners had left. We found this tree removal service on Craigslist and we were totally impressed with their service. We had some dead trees in our yard that had to go before monsoon season, so we gave these guys a call. We had emailed photos of the trees that needed removal and they sent us back an estimate that came in a lot lower than all the others we had found. The day of the appointment they called to let us know they would arrive in a half hour and they were on time and got to work right away. Didnt hear from them the first day, nor the second day. Reached out and was told owner will let me know the next day. Once again, nothing. We contacted Hayward Tree Services to have our large, 20 ft. tall saguaro cactus removed due to the cactus having a disease. The owner Phil came out to assess the saguaro & the next day his crew came out first thing in the morning. Based on the positive reviews, we gave Hayward a try. We won't use their services again. The positives: their quote was about $500 less than Tree Pros & about $115 less than Arbor Care; Hayward trimmed & fertilized the trees well; their communication (calling ahead to inform us the techs were on the way) was good, as was their response time when I expressed concerns & unhappiness. The negatives: the guys totally destroyed our watering lines when grinding two stumps; they didn't bother to tell us they did so; when someone returned to fix the lines, he had to fix one set & head to Lowe's to get more supplies because he wasn't told he had to fix two sets; he didn't bother asking to test the system before he left so it wasn't until I returned home from work that we discovered he crossed the tubing lines (now half of our plants are one one line, and the other half is on the same line/schedule as our trees); he didn't clean up his mess (I found pieces of tubing around the areas he replaced); he didn't bother to put the tubes back in the ground. One suggestion I would offer up to Hayward after our ordeal is that their quotes/estimates be more specific. I sent pics to them for our myrtle bushes that needed trimmed but their quote only called them a bush. Result? When the trimmers showed up, they didn't know which bushes to trim (and my sister, who was home, didn't remember they were supposed to trim them). So this isn't a complaint since we were partially at fault (me for not asking for the quote to be specific, my sister for not listening to me, Hayward for not adding the bush name to the quote; I mean, the trees on the quote were specifically named so why not the bushes? So yes, there was some good experiences, but in my opinion the bad experiences outweighed the good, hence the lower rating. I'm disappointed because based on other reviews, I was really hoping to have found a new tree care service. read more

After using Hayward Tree Service for over 15 years, many tree trimmings and tree fertilization and tree removal, no more will I use them or recommend them. I March of this year had them come out and thin out tree, which they did and stated it would fill out nicely in a couple months. Five months later free is dead. I know July was the hottest months and 30 plus days over 110 degrees, but tree was over 26 years old, and just dies. They came out today to look at it and confirmed it was dead. Neighbor behind us, trees are fine, there explanation, they were just lucky. Told my Wife to look around the neighborhood, everything is dead. Looked around neighborhood and everything is not dead. You would think they would at least compensate you slightly for a tree over 26 years old, but no. Must be nice to have so much business, you don't have to stand behind your work, even with a long standing customer. read more
